The Toyota dealership informed me of repairs I needed but it was quite expensive. I contacted the shop to get a quote and they were 1/3 the price of the dealership. On top of fair pricing they drove to my house and picked up my van to be serviced free of charge. I had brakes done along with fluids. This is my first time writing a review on yelp, and I believe it is totally worth it. By fault of no one but myself in a stupid mistake, I cause my car to be unable due to braking the upper oil pan. I had gotten a few quotes prior to calling J's Garage. They quickly gave me a quote over the phone which I couldn't believe. That same day I stopped by and made an appointment to have my car come in and fixed. I had the necessary parts preorder, but after seeing the quote with parts included, I found it much cheaper to have them take care of the processes, which they did much faster than I expected. They are a ripoff. I took my 2000 G.M.C truck there and they was supposed to fix the problem that was going with it. My check engine light was on and brake light as well. They told me that my check engine light was on because of two of my O2 sensors and my brake light was on for brake repairs thats displayed in the paperwork. After fixing the problem ( so they say ) My master cylinder was still leaking and my brake light was still on. After taking my truck back to them twice they fixed the leak on the master cylinder but still not the brake light so after two more time they claim its the ABS brake module and they would have to order it and it would take about a week. I called them several times and they are telling me the same thing. We are still waiting on the part. I just feel they gave me the run around the whole time. So after 1,800 hundred dollars and two months later. Still not a completed repair. I do not recommend that you do business with these guys read more

I had a great experience here. I was able to drop off my car without an appointment. Honesty is what I look for in a mechanic. I was given a quote. When they got into the problem, they discovered it wasn't nearly as bad as they expected, and were able to fix it for half of what was quoted. Great service, friendly, nice people. I am forever grateful to Joe and this business. My car was shaking violently and i immediately pulled over to call an auto shop. By the time i called they were closed, i called anyways. Even outside of business hours they answered and still helped me out. I was scared to drive my car at this point so Joe offered to have someone stop by my HOUSE to pick up my car and get it to their business. I had needed to replace all 4 ignition coils but when i drove it home it was still shaking slightly. I called them back to bring it in the following morning and they replaced 2 spark plugs with no additional charge. Words can't thank you guys enough. If you're like me and have a hard time trusting mechanics this is the place for you! I was in desperate need of a break change but didn't have the budget to just go anywhere so I searched around and J's auto offered me the best rate. To my surprise (not that surprised) my rotors and break pads needed to be replaced, they were really bad guys... even with this added to my bill I ended up paying a fraction of the cost that I would have payed anywhere else. And not only that, they were super nice and transparent, explained everything they were doing, and their waiting room was very clean and neat. I must say I was hopeful but ended up being disappointed. Reviews seemed good on Yelp, so I took my car to them for a 45,000 mile service, which involved an oil change, tire rotation, check fluids, brakes, etc. When I arrived to pick it up, I was told they did not rotate the tires because they were wearing unevenly and that I needed new shocks, struts, and an alignment for a cost of about $1200. I asked them to adjust the cost of the service since the tires were not rotated, but they refused saying the tire rotation was "free" in addition to the rest, so the price was the same. Wasn't going to argue with them over a few bucks. I was skeptical about the suggested repairs because a car generally doesn't need shocks and struts until around 95,000 miles, as I found out from several other auto mechanics who responded to my inquiry on Yelp when I requested more quotes. So I took it to another shop this morning and sure enough, all I need is an alignment. Shocks and struts are fine. I'm not saying Jay's auto tried to scam me; maybe the person who worked on my car was inexperienced, or maybe they just figured a woman in her 50s wouldn't know better and they could make an easy profit. Either way, do your due diligence and get a second opinion if something seems off. As for me, I'll be sticking with the new mechanic who checked my car out for free and will be doing my alignment this Friday. read more
