Mmmmmm ~ sugar rushes can be worth it! Our party of three feasted on cinnamon rolls, doughnuts and apple fritters. We skipped petit fours and cookies, despite their considerable temptation. Cinnamon rolls tasted freshly made ~ tender with a sweet balance of cinnamon to the icing sweetness. Hubs ordered black coffee and appreciated the free refill. If interested, Jitterbug coffee shop is in the same street mall (it makes for a nice pairing.) If you're grabbing coffee from Jitterbug, make sure to park in front of their section (or on the side) as the J's owner is said to dislike cars parked in her section if they're not visiting the bakery. On the other had, park wherever you want at this strip mall and do yourself the favor of getting any of the amazing sweet treats here! Slices of cakes, cookies ~ anything will be good! I think they also serve lunch ~ we'll have to try that next. read more

First of all I had to call several times to try to order a cake because they don't answer the phone. Secondly they weren't sure they could take the order. I wished they hadn't honestly. This is NOT the Jays of old. Got a carrot cake birthday cake. $40 for 6 inch cake and it wasn't any good. Definitely not a carrot cake. Threw out. Never try them again. Got a real carrot cake from Milton bakery for $14. Jays needs to learn how to bake a cake. Total crap there!!! read more

Months ahead of our daughters wedding I worked with Ryan to get an order together for a bridal party bubbles and brunch. I confirmed with Ryan several times including over the phone once I arrived in Pensacola. Imagine my horror when we arrived at the bakery to get our order and they said they had nothing for us. Ryan didn't answer my frantic calls or texts. Now I have family members scrambling all over town to pull this disaster together in 30 minutes. J's Bakery may be putting out delicious pastries in the store but I would highly recommend against trusting them to follow through with a catering order. Cannot express how upsetting this has been. Should have read all the reviews. Now I see this has happened many times at J's. I would NOT trust them with any kind of pre-order unless you want to be left high and dry. read more

When a relative who was going to bake a cake for our daughter's baby shower backed out with less than two weeks until the event, we were obviously in a bind. None of the other bakeries could come through with a custom cake in a short time window. J's came through with a beautiful cake that was absolutely delicious. All buttercream frosting that looked like fondant!!! J's will now be our first option rather than the last resort!!! read more

I had the worst experience with J's bakery. The owner is so rude. We hired J's bakery to bake my daughter's wedding cake for our destination wedding. The delivery guy called me because he couldn't get up to the venue, he needed the elevator code. I saw he called as he was leaving the voicemail. I immediately called him back. (Also all the other vendors we used never had to ask for the code. They all knew what the venue usually uses as the code there. J's is an established bakery and should have also) He then tells me he has to go back to the bakery because the cake fell over. I thought it was a joke. The only apology I got was a rude "sorry ma'am accidents happen. That is why you pay us to deliver, because if something happens we will fix it." He was back 3 hours later. After the ceremony and cocktail hour, just as we were about to have dinner. No other apology to my husband who I sent down to help him up. I didn't pay attention to the wedding cake that day. Only that it looked pretty. I tried a small piece of the cookies and cream. The cake didn't taste as good as we tried in January when we came to have a cake tasting. Then when we got home 2 days later I went to cut the cake to give to my daughter when she got home from her honeymoon. One cake was incorrect, the one I didn't try. So I thought I'm going to get ahold of the owner, I had his business card from January. I then listened to voicemail the delivery guy left when he needed the code to get in, it was so rude. He basically said if you want your cake you better call me back. The delivery guy, is the owner Ryan Thomas. And he "delivered" the cake out of the trunk of his orange bmw. I have texts to prove that. Why didn't he use the delivery truck? It was a big enough cake. Why put it in your vehicles trunk? I've contacted him a few times. He first called me back and was so rude and asked what I wanted from him because he provided a cake and he had money in it. I asked for refund of the incorrect cake or refund of the $175 delivery fee, not the full amount I paid. I then just moved on to the incorrect cake, he said I'll have to talk to my baker and hung up on me. He then proceeded to send me a text with the order form trying to prove me wrong. He said didn't you have a problem with the cookie pieces. I said not in the cookies and cream cake it was supposed to. I said the white cake had it in the icing inside. He said I understand. Then never replied to my 2 texts I sent 2 other days. Finally I sent 1 more. I said I guess if you don't want to resolve this with us, we will let our reviews do the talking. He then came at me with a text saying that the person cutting the cake probably used the same knife to cut the white cake after the chocolate and that is why there is cookie pieces in it. The cake was cut at home by me with a different knife. And you can definitely see cookie pieces in the icing. Not because of a knife. He told me to prove it. And that I just had a story and was expecting him to pay me. So I explained when I found the cookie pieces and sent the pics. Also told him the caterer was careful cutting the cake because we had guests with food allergies and I saw her being careful with things. He never replied after I sent the pics. And then I texted him the next to see if he got the pictures and he is now ignoring me. I get accidents happen. And if he would have been apologetic the day of the wedding, I probably would have looked over the incorrect cake. I even thanked him for supplying a cake for our guests even though it was 3 hours late. Ryan has been so rude to deal with, doesn't care that it caused so much stress on the wedding day. Or that the cake I paid good money for had one cake that was wrong. I would not recommend this bakery to anyone. It's sad that this will forever be stuck in my head about the most beautiful wedding we had for my daughter. I have included our texting convo. Blocked out part of his number because it's not my place to put it out there publicly. You see where he says he will be pulling up to deliver the cake out of his orange bmw. Also were only asked for a partial refund of the incorrect cake. read more

Picked up cake for daughter's bday. Artwork was pretty good. We were satisfied as far as that goes. Then an up charge of 20 on the cake. Didn't say anything figured the artwork was more extensive so no prob. Cake tasted horrible. Very musty taste. Cake was supposed to have cream cheese. Guess they thought buttercream was better. Won't be back. Heard about for years, first time wasn't impressed. Reviews seem to reflect. read more

I'm sorry but I don't have a rating the people in this bakery are not very nice and have no customer service sense!! they need a bigger parking lot and need to have some consideration for their customers! really regret giving this bakery a try. First off, the prices are completely outrageous for what you're getting. For the amount I paid, I expected a much better quality of food. The pastries were dry, crumbly, and honestly tasted like they had been sitting out for days. The texture was chalky, and it felt like I was chewing on cardboard rather than enjoying a freshly made treat. On top of the disappointing baked goods, the customer service was absolutely terrible. The staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful, barely acknowledging me when I walked in. When I asked questions about the menu, they acted like I was inconveniencing them. There was no effort to be helpful or friendly - it was as if they were doing me a favor by allowing me to be there. I highly recommend saving your money and skipping this place. You can easily find better quality pastries at more reasonable prices elsewhere, with actual customer service. This bakery is a total waste of time and money. read more

I have been driving past this place for months and decided to go in on a whim. The intoxicating smell of a pastry shop greets you the second you open the door. Their cookies are a work of art and out of the 4 different pastries we ordered, all were AMAZING. Our favorite was the devil dog pastry - it is what a hostess snack cake dreams of becoming one day. I'm always trying to find a bakery that actually makes good pasties. Most just taste like empty carbs and not worth it. J's make a delicious variety of pastries and everything is flavorful and sugary and delicious! From a box of cookies to a cake; they know what they're doing. They also have a yummy sandwiches menu. Easy to find, right on 12th street tucked away in the east hill neighborhood. read more

My wife went there today to pick up cookies and cupcakes for the grandkids. She got herself a red velvet cupcake, which she felt was overpriced, that was very dry. She is convinced it was at least a day old and very disappointed in the quality. Not going back there and will never recommend this bakery to anyone. read more

Love to go there in the morning and especially get the maple flavored ones! Delicious cinnamon rolls and all kinds of wonderful choices! Service is always with a smile and welcoming! Great to treat your out of town guests and I enjoy to get extra for dessert later. Great atmosphere and everything is displayed for your favorite choice to go with your morning coffee! read more

It smelled delicious when I walked in the store. So, I stood in front of the menu and was informed that it was only a catering menu. I was informed they did not serve sandwiches from that menu. It was about 1PM. I was also informed that baked goods must be ordered in advance, so if I wanted something I could choose from what was in the bakery case. I was getting a phone call and decided to try another restaurant for lunch as well as for a cake. I can't always make advance plans for lunch and being turned away when I have limited time to grab some lunch can stop me from having lunch some days. I had a good lunch today, elsewhere. I'm sorry to have to say this. I've known about this bakery for years and rarely step in. read more

Ordered a cake and smash cake for our daughters first birthday a month in advance. Went to pick it up and they didn't make either. Two cakes were put together and driven to our house by a lady who said she was on her way to urgent care . Cakes didn't look like what was ordered. Looked slapped together. Called to discuss the order issue and people wanted to get argumentative and try to blame my order issue on me....lol. Publix bakery could do a better job at making a cake and have a better attitude. Will not return to this bakery, and recommend people avoid this business as well. Edit to my review: was eating a cup cake as we tried to enjoy after scraping off the inch and a half layer of sugar icing...but into a cupcake and my mouth was still connected with a long ass hair. Cupcakes went in the trash. Thanks to J's baker ru for making my daughters first birthday a shit experience from the messed up order, to attitude, to the almost dying sick lady who brought this swill to my house and pin the exclamationn point on it with the hair in my mouth. Btw, thanks for scraping the black icing off a dozen cupcakes you were planning on wasting to re-frost them..... read more

I bought gingerbread men cookies a few days ago and they were horrible! They did not even taste like gingerbread! The tops were tan like gingerbread, but they were light yellow underneath like a cookie. This is NOT what gingerbread cookies look like normally. Not the ones of my childhood that had raisins for buttons and eyes. And you would think that they would be delicious at $2.50 per cookie! I was beyond disappointed when we tasted them that night. Yuck! Not to mention the little bars that I used to buy all the time are 1/2 the size of what they used to be and I was told that they were $2.00 each! OMG!! I guess I will just buy the ingredients and make them myself. No thanks! I'm done! read more

I went into the bakery last Saturday and ordered 10 petit fors and 6 cream horns for $30. She used a box much too small for the petit fors so she crammed one in the box with cream horns which smashed it and it was covered with cream and powdered sugar, and broke two cream horns in half. The tiny box with the nine other squeezed in petit fors, two more were smashed. I tried calling for the manager but they are never in and left my phone number twice and no call returned. As much as we love j's their premium price and smashed goods are unacceptable. Be careful when buying here make sure they give big enough boxe for items. read more

I've been several times as this bakery is in my neighborhood and it is very hit or miss. I've tried several different desserts and pastries. The best was a sugar donut. It was fried to perfection and the amount of sugar on the donut did not overwhelm the flavor of the batter. Everything else I've tried was just too sweet. There is no flavor except for sugar. I just tried a cherry danish and in my experience they're tart. Not this one. I only had 2 bites before I threw it away. read more

J's Bakery did an AMAZING job on this cake for my coworker! She recently transferred into the Space Force. (Crazy!!!) We wanted to celebrate such an awesome day with a fantastic cake and J's made that happen. There were tons of compliments on both the look and flavor of the cake- best in Pensacola! It was also really easy to get a vision across for the look of the cake. Turned out amazing. J's bakery did NOT disappoint! We pre-ordered the cake several months in advance because of Covid making our local bakeries (Panama City) be swamped with weddings being rescheduled. Everyone at our 1 year olds party loved the desserts: 2 tier cake (top vanilla and bottom chocolate), dozen doughnuts, and a dozen cookies. They were absolutely gorgeous and did not disappoint in taste. We did have about 2 guests that said cookies needed a bit more flavor, but overall def 5 star desserts! J's was recommended to us and surely a place we will order again from. Also, packed just right for the journey here. Definitely new since I left home. I was interested. Ambiance was wonderful. A good amount of seating with each sitting spot feelings mildly secluded, which is nice. No one wants their coffee shop gossip being overheard. And when you walk in, you're first greeted with that classic glass case of available pastries and goodies. It was hard to not just order one of each item. Service was nice. It was counter service, and they bring your order right to your table. Can't ask for better service than that. Nice folks, good small talk. And the food, it was delightful. We got a couple of fancy coffee drinks, which were well-flavored, not too sweet, and the iced one was presented in a mason jar. Classic. We also shared like four food items. The pull-apart monkey bread was sweet and dense and delicious. Don't order this if you're alone. You'll need help to finish it. Got a creme filled pull pastry thing. That was nice. Flakes for days. This was no rough puff. For the chocolate croissant, also known as a pain au chocolat.
