Some friends and I gathered for a lakeside luncheon this Thursday afternoon at Liberty On The Lake at the Irmo location. This was my first time experiencing this venue, and I honestly was pleasantly surprised. From being greeted at the door and shown to our table, ordering our food to even having our waitresses snap a few photo's to document our visit, I was very impressed with the staff's attentiveness and willing to offer suggestions, and see our food was prepared promptly, and to our tastes. We chose to visit during lunch, so I ordered the Philly Cheese steak sandwich which came with fries, and it was very tasty. My friend ordered the fish & chips, which he said was also very delicious, his wife ordered shrimp with hushpuppy's, and I tried one, that cinnamon butter sauce pairs very with with the hush puppy's. The atmosphere for a lunch crowd was very chill, some soft music playing in the background, but not overpowering to limit conversation, the staff was friendly, and the food was tasty, with decent portions, and more importantly - Reasonably Priced. Liberty Tap Room is a place I've heard a lot about but never had the chance to visit...until recently. I tried to place a to-go order online but there was no option for in-person pickup. It only allowed me to order through a food delivery service. I live 200 ft away so I was just gonna walk there and pick it up. If there was a way for me to order online without a delivery service, then it wasn't clear to me on the website. The food was okay at best. I got the fish n chips. It was good...not great...just good. Fish was fried well and the fries were tasty. The person at the desk who took my order and the girl standing beside her acted as if seeing me was the last thing they wanted to do that day. I placed the order, asked where to wait for the food, and one girl said "you can't stand right there, wait outside, sit at the bar...I don't care where you wait" in a very snide and rude tone. The person who brought the food to me asked my name, handed me the food, and walked away. I said thank you but she was just gone. I left saying "have a good day" and the host at the register just stared at me. From what I could see of the inside, it looked nice. Probably won't be back to see more of the restaurant. For a place of high esteem as Liberty Tap Room, it definitely failed me on the service portion. Major turn off for me. read more

Liberty on the Lake was the perfect spot to celebrate a special birthday for both mom and daughter. The setting alone made the experience memorable -- beautiful waterfront views, a relaxing atmosphere, and a great place to sit back and enjoy a meal while looking out over the water. It felt like a great place for a celebration without being overly formal. We started with a few appetizers that were great for sharing. The hushpuppies came out hot and crispy and paired really well with the dipping sauces. The coconut shrimp was another highlight -- perfectly fried with a nice crunchy coating and a sweet dipping sauce that added a lot of flavor. For the main meal, the fish and fries were classic comfort food done well. The fish was golden and flaky with a light batter that wasn't too heavy, and the fries were crispy and seasoned just right. Everything came out fresh and hot, which made the meal even better. The coleslaw on the side was creamy and balanced the fried seafood nicely. Drinks were also a fun part of the celebration. The cocktail was refreshing and light, perfect for sipping while enjoying the lake view. Sitting by the water with a drink in hand really added to the birthday vibe and made the whole experience feel a little more special. Overall, Liberty on the Lake was a great choice for a birthday outing. Good food, generous portions, beautiful lake views, and a relaxed environment that made it easy to celebrate and enjoy time together. A lovely and relaxing spot right on Lake Murray. The prices are a little on the high side, but the portions are huge. Two large slabs of meatloaf with gravy over ample mashed potatoes and a serving of plump asparagus. A generous platter of fried shrimp that was perfectly battered. Beer on tap. Water views. Get. The. Meatloaf. This was absolutely delicious. Gravy was amazing, the meat had charring on it to give even more flavor, and they give you loads of mashed potatoes. The nachos were also great! We could have just split the nachos for dinner, and I would have been full and satisfied. There is tons of seating and we sat on one of the decks overlooking the water. Friday night music wasn't too loud, and added to the fun. We even saw a bunch of turtles swim up to the docks to try to get fed. Unfortunately, there were some cons, but I think the overall environment and good food made me want to come again (and learn from my mistakes the next time I go). We ordered our appetizer between five and ten minutes before ordering our entrees (just because we hadn't decided yet). We did wait at least 25 minutes to get the appetizer (which is quite a long time to wait, but the wait was worth it). What bothered me was the server immediately brought the entrees after bringing us the nachos (5 minutes or less). This bothers me, because now we have a table full of food, that is actively getting cold, as we try to enjoy the appetizer that we should have gotten 15 minutes prior. If I went back, I would wait to order the entrees to make sure this doesn't happen again. The other issue is that my husband ordered the fish and chips (what our server said is the most ordered food) but you could tell the oil was old for both the fries and the fish. He did not enjoy it and barely ate the food. My frozen daiquiri didn't really taste like strawberries, but they definitely put a good amount of alcohol in it, so in my opinion, it was worth it. I am so disappointed in this guy place. I am glad that they accept reservations. I called to let them know that traffic was a bit heavy so we would be running 5-6 minutes behind, but we are still coming. The hostess was confused and asked if we wanted to push our reservation time back and stated that she did not know if they would be able to accommodate if that was done. I asked if there was a grace period for reservations, and again she was confused. She put me on hold and came back and said that the grace period is 15 minutes. Great. I told her thanks, and we will be there within 5 minutes. Honestly, I should have taken this as a sign to just consider somewhere else. I just figured they were busy and she was young.  We had to wait a few minutes upon arrival, which wasn't too bad. The restaurant is in desperate need of a deep clean. The hostess and our server were both polite. The server seemed to be a bit overwhelmed. She was slow, forgetful, not responsive, and a bit spacey. We had to continue to ask for silverware. There was no silverware at the hostess stand. We had to just wait. While our appetizers sat on the table. Also, these were no refills. The food was mediocre, and that's being kind. We could have gone to Applebee's and probably had a much better experience. We requested no bacon on the salad. There was bacon on the salad. The shrimp was not cooked all the way. It was just mess after mess after mess, and again, the food was not enjoyable, especially for the prices.  The lake aesthetic is nice, but the restaurant is highly disappointing. We stopped in to the Liberty after a morning of boating out on Lake Murray. The girls were tired so we didn't stay out on the water long cutting it short to grab a bite to eat. We sat out on the patio overlooking the marina which was lovely. Starting with the chicken nachos, definitely hit the spot. My daughter had the fish and chips, I had the smash burger, her friend also had the smash, and wifey had the spinach salad. Food and drinks were very good so I'm surprised by the poor ratings. i ordered take out on 7/17 around 6pm. Hush puppies app to start, double burger and chicken tenders for entrees. The first issue was that unfortunately I did not check bag and there were no utensils or napkins or condiments included.. the hush puppies were fried way too long and were crunchy and burnt. The butter that comes with the hush puppies was gritty. I assume from sugar being added not sure but not very good.. the chicken tenders were also fried too long and were overdone and super salty. I got one container of honey mustard with them which didn't cover half of the order. The burger and fries were lacklustre and also way too salty.. a few hours after eating the chicken tenders and hush puppies my stomach was in knots and I was nauseous. it wasn't food poisoning or anything, but definitely did not agree with my body. Well, sadly, the stars are getting lower and lower, their menu has changed, and gone down to lots of bread items and seafood. This might be great for a lot of people, but for someone with allergies, their ribs and other meats were what I was always down for. I had to pick between nachos and a steak that was $30. Yesterday we finally had a chance to try this place out. The views and atmosphere was pretty on point. We were disappointed with our food. I had a smash burger - which they said they would charge me extra if it didn't want TWO patties on it. There was not an option for a single patty burger. I visited Liberty on the Lake after it had been closed for renovations. Physically it is pretty much the same on the main floor. We did not go up to the top deck. Of course it still has the great lake ambiance and the staff is very friendly. However the food menu is very limited right now and it seems like some of the prices have increased. But the worst part is a particular glass of wine that was previously $9 is marked up to $11. And even worse they now have a new "low end" house wine that retails for between $5 and $7 a bottle and they are charging $8 a glass. I consider that a real rip off. My coworkers & I had a great time at Liberty! I have been here a few times and just haven't gotten around to posting a review on them. So here it is! The views are amazing and when the weather is nice, sitting on the patio is such a vibe. It was a total of 27 of us so the server & kitchen staff did an amazing job! She was very helpful and patient with us. The food was also good! The Philly had good flavor and the sauce on the side help give it a little more moisture to it. We were visiting the area for a long weekend and wanted to find a waterfront restaurant to eat and this place sounded perfect. It was a nice summer night and they had all the doors open. We were greeted right away even though it was busy at the bar we were sat at a booth (it was dirty) and tons of flies all around. We were then moved to a hi top table and it was not much better, just a miserable environment but we did however order 2 appetizers and some drinks but could not wait to leave. I'm so happy I took an alternate route coming back home from the Smoky mountains than going, or I never would have found this hidden gem! I will go out of my way to go here again. The very first time I visited the area of Lake Murray in February 2022, we stopped in at Liberty Tap Room on the Lake. We sat at the bar and enjoyed cold beer and hot and crispy wings. We now live in the area and we love having this place so close to home! Service is always good and we've never had anything served to us that we didn't enjoy, The bartenders are some of the hardest working and friendly people you'll ever meet. They often have live music and the sunsets and views of Lake Murray are spectacular. Times have been challenging recently for those that work in the service and food industry. Liberty Tap Room has seen its share of trouble this past year, but the dedicated staff are still showing up and trying their best to make sure to serve good food & drinks in a clean atmosphere with smiles on their faces. Lunch here today was a highlight of a long drive. Pretty location on Lake Murray. Ordered a side salad, Ahi Tuna starter and Salmon BLT. The side salad was bigger than I expected, with housemade ranch dressing, yum. The Ahi tuna portion was quite large, especially as far as a starter goes. Great sauce across the top and seaweed salad completed the whole dish. The salmon blt was solid. Pricing was reasonable for the high quality of food, and our server was very nice.
