A Guest Bath Window With Charm, Class & Privacy…read more When I was making my initial drawings for New Moroxico, for the downstairs guest bathroom I sketched out a classic Tudor style window above a clawfoot tub. It had the quintessential diamond pattern of leaded glass on a window that was set into a stone wall and split vertically -- with two panels capable of opening outward like a French door. It was important to me that the window be functional as well as beautiful, providing my guests with the option of bathing with an open window, looking out onto the delightful fountains and luscious gardens beyond, should they be so inclined. Knowing what I know now about the City of Dallas and all its building and energy codes and environmental stipulations, it still shocks me to be be able to tell you that this is EXACTLY what I ended up achieving!! In the end (and with very little visual compromise, I might add), a gorgeous, functional, energy code approved, diamond-patterned Tudor style window now exists in my new home, looming stunningly over a huge copper tub. Of course, the city would have never approved a real stained glass window made in the traditional way, which is why we had to apply the specialty glass over a "proper" modern window-- one with energy efficient glass. Why I'm mentioning all of this is because if you are like me and nervous that doing a stained glass window this way won't look very good or won't look authentic, I am here to tell you that Jeff McMaster with Standout Glass is a skilled craftsman who does such expert work that you have absolutely nothing to worry about. My window looks every bit as charming and classy as the leaded glass windows of homes in my neighborhood that were built in the 1930s, and I have yet to encounter a single person who has questioned my window's authenticity or had anything other than praise for the finished result. There were many aspects of building New Moroxico that were extremely challenging and frustrating; but this wasn't one of them. Jeff came in and did his work quickly and perfectly, and for this reason he is someone I would gladly use again and someone who I would highly recommend to others. We brought a salvaged cut glass insert from a disassembled entrance door to them and they stabilized the entire insert so that we could use it as a standalone insert for an interior door. They removed the outer and inner panes of glass and prepared the cut glass portion to be used for a passage door that would see a lot of traffic. That required that the glass be stable. They accomplished that by releading the panel. They were kind and more than professional. The price was worth every dollar for the service they provided. We could not more highly recommend them.

We are beyond ecstatic with their work and the beautiful windows and door. Lynn took all of our needs in mind (which included the requirement to maintain our built in security system) and Ben did a fabulous job of ensuring that all the new windows still worked with our security system. Lynn explained details about the Don Young windows and benefits as well as how they worked and made us feel extremely comfortable engaging with him for a full replacement of all our windows. We went with aluminum because they last longer and with Don Young windows because of the lifetime warranty. We are already experiencing reduced noise and have lowered our air conditioning requirements due to the windows. Our neighbors also have had these windows for many years and are still extremely happy with them too. Ben Fehr and his team went above and beyond in every way. He precisely measured all of the windows prior to the custom building of the Don Young windows to our precise requirements including: no grids, low-e, argon gas windows and glass of different thicknesses for the two panes to cut down on noise. They took each window out and then put in the new window. The most amazing thing was that Ben and the team took off their shoes before entering the house and covered the areas inside and outside with plastic - so that when they left there was no trace of any dirt or other material left behind. Extremely IMPRESSIVE since I do not allow shoes in the house to keep the floors clean. They went above and beyond in every way. Our house looks brand new and when we look out of these windows it is amazing. So beautiful inside and outside. Ben also was able to remove a stained glass window which we are getting mounted which had been in one of our rooms as the actual window. Every need and expectation was EXCEEDED by all of them. I was so worried about this install and it all went so smoothly and the windows are SO amazing (tilt in with screens for easy cleaning).

I had to go around circles to get some answers because they said they don't work with homeowners - only the contractors....fine. Despite the fact that they made a mistake (which I can prove through a confirmation order showing the sizes of all windows for the orders placed, they said even in such instances they will put the order back in queue..meaning that I'll have to wait 6-7 months for that window to arrive. Really? So if they screw up one more time, that's 1 year. Is this the type of business you want to work with? There are plenty of other manufacturers out there with equivalent products and MUCH better customer service. This place is the dumps. I'd give it the absolute worst rating possible especially since the first customer service rep hung up on me during the call. Don't EVER go with this company and avoid ALL don young products. Once the queue of orders dries up from the past orders, let's see how this company fares the headwinds from the housing market downfall.

Rhonda is easy to talk to & very down-to-earth. Dan and his install team work well together, and with only three of them, were able to do 13 windows (remove & install new) in one day. Very pleased with the quality of the custom windows, and Rhonda offered three different choices of UV protective glass (we chose the middle grade). Keep in mind, though, the windows are built to order, so it was a month after we first met with Rhonda that the installers came. I can't give enough praise in words to thank Rhonda and her team for the effortless transition from old, worn out, builder's grade windows, to the beautiful windows they installed.

Once we agreed to the type and pricing for these Vistamark windows and a small down payment provided; Mark and Adam scheduled their installer to come out the following week. Scott came out about a week later to refine the measurements exactly. The windows were ordered shortly thereafter through their Waxahachie plant for Vistamark windows. Adam was available if needed but once the pricing was agreed upon there wasn't a lot of need for our interaction with a few exceptions. Adam responded promptly when text or called. In summary we are happy with these beautiful new, energy efficient windows, having replaced our builder grade windows from 24 years ago.
