Some people chase sunrises in Joshua Tree. We chased pancakes... and honestly, I think we won. JT Country Kitchen is the kind of place that reminds you why diners will never go out of style. Friendly staff who make you feel like a regular, cozy country vibes, and comfort food that'll have you questioning whether you really need to hike after breakfast. I came here with my fiancé and stepdaughter, fully expecting a good meal. What I didn't expect was to be personally attacked by the size of the pancakes. These fluffy beauties arrived looking like they were auditioning to become spare tires for my car. They're huge... gloriously huge. Then came the chicken fried steak, blanketed in creamy country gravy with a mountain of crispy country potatoes on the side. If comfort food could give hugs, this plate would've wrapped us in a warm quilt and called us "hon." Parking out front can be a bit like finding a parking space at a Black Friday sale--possible, but don't count on it. Thankfully, there's extra parking in the back, complete with reserved spaces for country music stars. We didn't spot Dolly or Willie, but we left a spot open just in case. And let's not forget the view. Step outside and--boom!--you're greeted by the stunning desert landscape with Joshua Tree National Park practically waving hello. Not a bad backdrop while digesting a pancake the size of a hubcap. Bottom line? Great people, generous portions, delicious comfort food, and enough small-town charm to make you want to linger over one more cup of coffee. Mai Tai Pancakes!!!! My fellow yelpers did me a solid! This cute place packs a strong punch with an amazing and delicious menu. We came two days in a row and everything was mouth watering good! Came to JT Country Kitchen since it was a few minutes away from our Airbnb. Sat outside in their patio, love that they have a couple of fly spinners for each table, since I guess the flies can get pesky here. I also liked that they have "healthier" options for some of their breakfast sides. My family all enjoyed our food: -Iced Coffee, was decent. -Texas Chili Bean Omelette, chili flavor was good with a slight kick. Hashbrowns paired nicely with this. -Denver Omelette, standard. I chose grilled tomato slices and an english muffin. I enjoyed my meal. -Prime Steak 'n Eggs, was decent portion and cooked well. My family member was able to choose cottage cheese instead of potatoes. -Kids are Aces, nephew enjoyed his breakfast of pancake, bacon and hashbrowns. One unisex restroom out back that was fairly clean, though a little stuffy. There was a small line when we arrived, so I put our name in, and the wait was about 25 minutes. We ended up sitting outside. A server came over to take our drink order, but we weren't quite ready to order food yet. When he came back, we still had a few questions about the menu. Another staff member stopped by, answered everything for us, and took our order. The service was great--everyone seemed to work together rather than sticking to specific tables. For food, my wife had the special, a corned beef sandwich. My mom ordered a hamburger with chips, and I went with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and biscuits and gravy. Everything was very good, and you could tell it was made fresh. They also make their juices in-house, which was a nice touch. My partner loves Bourdain and was delighted to see his photo on the wall with the owner, showing he'd been here. I ate the food in 20 minutes. Was it worth it? despite the inconvenience, the food was okay. I got a pancake and a breakfast burrito. Protein is a separate charge. You can't mess up a breakfast burrito. The texture was chewy and gooey. The only thing bad about ordering the burrito was that the salsa provided on the side wasn't flavorful. But it is what it is. The pancake made me less mad about waiting. It was huge, and it was on the griddle just enough so that the inside was just a bit raw. Might not sound good to most people but that how I like my pancakes. I didn't experience the great customer service this place is known for. The flies attended to me more. They have a huge menu and mostly it's reasonably priced with gratuity included for groups of 6 or more.
