From the moment we walked in, we could tell that the place is extremely clean. The western decor is also lots of fun. But, most importantly, the breakfast we ordered was delicious! I had a veggie omelette, substituted egg whites, and my husband had the classic eggs, pancake, and bacon. The coffee was filled regularly and was good and strong. Sigh, where do I begin. Got sat quickly and that was pretty much the only good part of our experience. The woman who took my order wasn't even really all there. I told her I wanted an omelet and two seconds later asked again. The iced coffees were made in a hurry and looked as such and lacked flavor. We got in and sat around 1240 and had waited a staggering 50 minutes without any food nor anyone coming to check in on us and see if we were doing alright. When we finally questioned our order, it was revealed that one of their cooks quit that morning... To which I feel like you should probably disclose those details to your customers up front don't you think? Long after we were about to leave, she still asked if we can wait 5 minutes more to finish to which finally was the last straw and we walked out. The kind of place that makes you question why diners ever became a beloved staple in the first place. The illusion of a western diner falls apart as soon as you walk in the door. The eggs were somehow overcooked and cold at the same time. Even the coffee which should be the reliable was lukewarm and bitter. Our waitress was sweet but orders were takin with visible disinterest and simple requests like refills and extra napkins felt like an inconvenience to the staff. I had looked forward to their prime rib night but this place is a miss. read more

Great breakfast spot! We've been here a few times and the service is consistently great. Usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning when they're a little busier. But the waitresses are always friendly, and attentive. Our favorite is the country fried steak! The only reason for 4 stars is the inconsistent portions. Thought I'd give everyone an updated menu. The staff is super nice and helped me choose between two omelettes. This is more of a local chill place and it's was perfectly lively on the Sunday morning we went. We got: Wet breakfast burrito -- average breakfast burrito but the ranchero sauce made it above average. Breakfast burger -- came out piping hot, very good texture, tasted good. The great omelette -- really great, the feta was a nice touch and it came with potatoes and toast and generous with the vegetables. Machaca and eggs -- replaced potatoes/hashbrowns with fruit. "It was good. Fruit was really good. Well fried tortillas - highlight of the dish." Someone else mentioned the women's bathroom missing a seat on one of the toilets and it's still missing... thought I would mention this. Staying at the Yucca Valley Elk's Lodge and while there are a couple higher rated breakfast places nearby, this was not only close but had an excellent country fried steak! Our server Jenny was very nice with timely service. The place is clean with a nice atmosphere. The steak was definitely made from scratch, tender, and tasty. Good eggs and hash browns too! If you are in Yucca Valley or near Joshua Tree NP, give it a try! You'll taste one of the best country fried steaks around. I know because it's been my fav for 55 plus years! read more

We were sat pretty quickly I would say less than 10 minutes - which was great and off to a good start. Ordered a mushroom burger, and chipotle burger... so flavorless. Paid extra for garlic fries but they just looked like freezer fries with some fresh garlic in the middle. Very disappointed, we received our food close to 1.5 hours after we ordered. This was due to a big online order, which is out of their control but I would've been okay with the wait if the food was flavorful. I won't be back. read more

We came here for breakfast. It was past eight and the place was almost empty. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the food was not great. The coffee did not taste great. Not sure if it was old coffee or what, but I almost could not drink it. The egg dishes were fine, except the side of beans were too runny. read more

This rude waitress who serviced us BURNT toast with no apology. 1 hour and a half wait for our food. Waitress in pic knew the toast was burnt and still put it in front of me. When I asked her if I can have toast that's not burnt she said yes and she didn't even bother to go back and tell the kitchen like hey guys this toast is hella burnt!! Visited Joshua Tree for the weekend, saw this place on Google Maps. Was not disappointed with it at all! Amazing food. I got the orange juice which is freshly squeezed, YUM!! Their menu has lots of options to choose from, I ended up getting the French toast with eggs and bacon. It smelled so good and tasted great! Right off the bat, service was amazing. Worth a visit! Came here after a weekend nearby & we were so happy! Food was SO good and SOO affordable. We were so full and happy afterwards! Our server was very polite and let us take our time. UPDATE: Even better the second time around. Decided to stop in again for breakfast on the way out of town, and this time, everything was aces. It was a Friday morning, and we noticed that they offer free coffee to 55+ (M-F, for cash-paying customers), so the hubby took advantage of that. I got their Ortega chile omelette with hash browns and wheat toast, and the hubby got scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a side of cottage cheese. This time, when I asked for hash browns extra crispy, I got it, and they were awesome. The green chile omelette was chock-full of green chiles, sour cream, and cottage cheese--yum. The friendly, efficient servers kept those coffee refills coming and the prices were as reasonable as we remembered them. This is a solid, old-school diner popular with the local seniors--a hipster joint this most definitely ain't. Therefore, not a whole lot of vegetarian or vegan options, but If you're ok with that, it's a gem. read more

Please tell me they aren't still charging $8.00 for ice tea?!! We went in months ago and our bill was sky high for "normal" dinner and when I looked at the bill, there it was, nearly $16.00 for two ice teas, without refills; the waitress never came over to offer that. Cute little diner. Ordered the egg white veggie omelet. They were not stingy with the veggies. Hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ordered pancakes in lieu of the bread slices. They were so good. Good size pancakes, berries and condensed milk were a nice touch. Pancakes are fluffy and melted in my mouth. Would come back. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Not a long wait at all. They let us sit wherever we wanted. The only con was that the restrooms needed a little work. The breakfast was so good we went back the following day. Went to another place and didn't want to order at the counter, se we found this here and we're glad we did. It's a cute western style diner, with comfortable seating and nice Devore. I had the green chili omelette and he had the chorizo omelette, which was so good I ordered it the next day. Better than average diner for sure. Split the wet breakfast burrito and the breakfast burger. This is a restaurant that would earn five stars no matter what location it was in, whether a large, cosmopolitan city or out here in the rural high desert. It's good by any measure. It was a mistake because it seemed like the front door kept swinging open as wave after wave of hungry visitors poured in. My guess is these folks were all returning from Joshua Tree National Park. In fact, it felt like nearly everyone there had just come from the park. The business concept appears thoughtfully geared toward travelers, particularly those with a bit of disposable income and a discerning palate. Overall, this is a certified foodie stop: quality over quantity: taste over filling up.

I know from personal experience with Pamela's GF baking mix just how easy it is to make a delicious chocolate GF banana bread that is just as good as the wheat version. Luna could probably even make one where their wheat eaters wouldn't even notice the difference. Anywho, that is my gf fantasy. In conclusion, if your body can tolerate sourdough, get to Luna! It's divine! If not, you can always get a delicious gluten-free doughnut next door at Matson Ambroise.
