Country fried steak, country potatoes

Great breakfast spot! We've been here a few times and the service is consistently great. Usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning when they're a little busier. But the waitresses are always friendly, and attentive. Our favorite is the country fried steak! The only reason for 4 stars is the inconsistent portions. However, the food is always fresh and delicious. The inside is always clean. 90s country playing for a good vibe.

Chili Relleno Omelette

Chili Relleno omelette is one of the best I have ever had. The ranch ranchero is so delicious. A prefect amount of spicy with balanced flavors. A must if you're here. Service was great. Definitely coming back when we are in the area.

Thought I'd give everyone an updated menu. The staff is super nice and helped me choose between two omelettes. This is more of a local chill place and it's was perfectly lively on the Sunday morning we went. We got: Wet breakfast burrito -- average breakfast burrito but the ranchero sauce made it above average. Breakfast burger -- came out piping hot, very good texture, tasted good. The great omelette -- really great, the feta was a nice touch and it came with potatoes and toast and generous with the vegetables. Machaca and eggs -- replaced potatoes/hashbrowns with fruit. "It was good. Fruit was really good. Well fried tortillas - highlight of the dish." Someone else mentioned the women's bathroom missing a seat on one of the toilets and it's still missing... thought I would mention this. Overall great restaurant, prices were reasonable and would come back if I were a local.

Super rude waitress, was only nice to us when she gave us the check!!
Cat A.

This rude waitress who serviced us BURNT toast with no apology. 1 hour and a half wait for our food. Waitress in pic knew the toast was burnt and still put it in front of me. When I asked her if I can have toast that's not burnt she said yes and she didn't even bother to go back and tell the kitchen like hey guys this toast is hella burnt!! Besides this waitress the other employees were friendly and kind but come on would you really give that to a hungry customer?

TNT burger: one of the best burgers I've ever had!!!! Classic diner coffee, good vibes, wish I could've tried more of the food, everything looked and smelled amazing! Friendly staff! Strongly recommend!!

French toast with eggs and bacon added on

Visited Joshua Tree for the weekend, saw this place on Google Maps. Was not disappointed with it at all! Amazing food. I got the orange juice which is freshly squeezed, YUM!! Their menu has lots of options to choose from, I ended up getting the French toast with eggs and bacon. It smelled so good and tasted great! Right off the bat, service was amazing. The waiters were quick to attend and very friendly. For it being called the Western Diner, the inside was filled with western decorations and drawings, even had old western cowboy movies playing. Definitely a must visit when in the area, will come back for sure!!

Worth a visit! Came here after a weekend nearby & we were so happy! Food was SO good and SOO affordable. We were so full and happy afterwards! Our server was very polite and let us take our time. The ambiance is definitely "old cowboy" style and cute. Looks like many locals come here to read the newspaper and have coffee!!! Felt like such a cute small time diner. We will definitely come again!!!! Has everything from breakfast, burgers, teas, milkshakes, salads, soups, and burritos!

Turkey eggs Benedict

I went on Thanksgiving last year and had turkey Eggs Benedict . They had four different choices all with turkey. I like the wine there too. Service was great too!

Okay, being totally honest, this wasn't the absolute best food of our entire Joshua Tree-Palm…read moreSprings trip, but a close 2nd. BUT it was definitely the biggest, most positive surprise when it came to expectations vs. actual quality! We landed in Palm Springs late in the evening and were starving on our way out to Joshua Tree. After a quick Yelp search for something open past 7-8pm, this spot popped up. We pulled into a super quiet parking lot and found this tiny little place. Looking at it from the outside, we honestly figured it would just be a quick, forgettable pitstop. Boy, were we wrong. For starters, the place was relatively full for a Tuesday evening! We ordered the duck confit nachos, the kimchi bulgogi sandwich, and the pony wings. Wow! Granted, our expectations were unfairly low walking in, but this turned out to be probably our second-best meal of the entire week--and we ate out every single day! It absolutely crushed it in terms of exceeding expectations. It also helped that we happened to be there on a Wednesday, so all the wines were half-priced! Unfortunately, since we weren't familiar with the area, we didn't know exactly how much further we had to drive to our accommodations, so we couldn't imbibe more in such a welcoming environment. (Missed opportunity, but safety first!) Oh, and definitely save room for dessert--their pie with ice cream of the day was delicious too! If you are passing through, do not sleep on this place. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

The young lady who served us was very sweet and understanding. We had a 2yrld with us and we requested extra pickles (cuz that's all that toddlers want).Eventually another staff member visited our table for some chit chat and had a laugh. We ordered 2 entrees and an app. Crispy chicken sandwich - the crispy coating slid off of the chicken thigh but still had some good flavor. The jalapeño ranch was expected to have somewhat of a kick but was more of a love tap. Imo, the crispy potato chips were a nice touch. Pretzel balls - excited for pretzels and cheese, the plate arrives at the table looking more like falafel than pretzels, they taseted burnt. The cheese they come with however, SPOT ON! My fiance had the Tiny Pony burger and stated the caramelized onions were top notch. Then she proceeded to scarf the burger down and say "it was alright"..... make it make sense. Overall, we will be visiting The Tiny Pony again in the future.

This time, I had the Steak Sando (crispy wagyu ribeye, salted cabbage, tonkatsu sauce, horseradish, pain de mie), which was cooked to perfection. The horseradish added a nice little "bite" to the food without being overwhelming, and the wagyu and sauce were amazing. As a bonus, the service is always friendly, smiling, and attentive (but not too attentive), and the people who come here are often smiling and friendly as well. I am giving this five stars. This is a restaurant that would earn five stars no matter what location it was in, whether a large, cosmopolitan city or out here in the rural high desert. It's good by any measure. Inside, the vibe was super cozy and intimate. We ordered 2 shrimp rolls, the steak tartare, and papas to share. The shrimp rolls had a generous amount of shrimp and the brioche bun was soft but overall they were a little underwhelming. The mayo kind of took over and it could've used more seasoning. The steak tartare was really good and the toasted bread that came with it was perfect. Our favorite dish was definitely the papas. They were crispy, flavorful, and the lemon mayo was so good. The service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I'd definitely come back if I'm in Joshua Tree again and would love to try more of the menu!

The turkey, while good, wasn't freshly carved, which took a little away from the "special" feel. And while the breakfast sando was light and all alone on the plate, the way the mayo fused the flavors together was delicious. But I do wish the beverage fridge had prices listed so I wasn't surprised at the register. The restaurant, while it's a bit tricky to find on the side of a building, inside is a modern space. It's spotless and very clean. The aesthetic is minimalist and if it were just you, it could feel a bit cold, if not for the steady buzz of activity behind the counter. There were three staff members who moved swiftly. As I watched I was impressed with their efficiency as the kept things running smoothly. When we entered an hour before closing, we made the mistake to sit and pause to look over the menu. It was a mistake because it seemed like the front door kept swinging open as wave after wave of hungry visitors poured in. My guess is these folks were all returning from Joshua Tree National Park. In fact, it felt like nearly everyone there had just come from the park. The business concept appears thoughtfully geared toward travelers, particularly those with a bit of disposable income and a discerning palate. Overall, this is a certified foodie stop: quality over quantity: taste over filling up.

Their current GF options are either not tasty or not great breakfast items (almond cookie, coconut macaroon and a very hard to eat bread loaf). I know from personal experience with Pamela's GF baking mix just how easy it is to make a delicious chocolate GF banana bread that is just as good as the wheat version. Luna could probably even make one where their wheat eaters wouldn't even notice the difference. Anywho, that is my gf fantasy. In conclusion, if your body can tolerate sourdough, get to Luna!
