This was my backup place bc the other place I was going to was closed on tuesdays and my buddy wanted beef noodle soup that rivaled manhattan Chinatown. This new place was not bad. It ambience certainly was quiet for a Tuesday night. In terms of noodle soup I focused on the braised beef noodle soup since that was the only beef flavor soup although they had other types such as roast duck, or chicken meat. The braised beef was the classic Chinese qq with the meat and fat and tendon so soft. The flavor was good for the soup not overly oily. It also has Chinese broccoli and other veggies. We also got crab Rangoon which were classic. But the hot and sour soup was a good sign for me bc it was elevated above what you would usually get from takeout. This was on par with dumpling places. There is also a family style menu with their pricey specials that only real locals would understand (that and also being family dishes that one would not order for oneself solo like a fool). There's also an actual seafood tank with their live fish, and if you see a store with that you know the would pick one out and cook it fresh. Also this says they are open to 1am. Will see about that later. Also also they supposed have domain but at this time their master is on vacation and won't be back for a couple weeks so will see about that as well. Service was nice for an authentic experience where they check on you once and the other workers are at another table eating their evening meal. Classic authenticity. read more

We tried this restaurant because it's new. That was a mistake. We ordered: Beef noodle soup Dungeness crab with garlic and green onion Garlic snow peas Peking duck (two ways: wraps and duck bone soup) The beef noodle soup was bland and forgettable, even after adding vinegar and hot sauce. The Dungeness crab had little to no flavor. The garlic snow peas were the only dish worth mentioning. The Peking duck -- the main reason we came -- was completely unacceptable. It was not crispy and had almost no meat. What we were served was essentially soft, oily duck skin being passed off as Peking duck. When my husband asked where the duck meat was, the owner/manager told him that Peking duck is "supposed to be skin only." That is simply false. I am from Beijing/Peking, and authentic Peking duck includes both crispy skin and meat, traditionally served with thin pancakes -- not bao buns. This was not a variation. It was a misrepresentation. Charging $59 for this dish is unreasonable, and the dismissive response from management made the experience worse. We spent over $150 before tip for a meal that was poorly executed, overpriced, and inaccurately presented. This place is bad. This is not authentic Peking duck, and it's not worth your time. This used to be Ho Ho Choy, which was decent after their move from Dale Mabry several years ago. However this new incarnation under a new owner is not good. The dim sum menu is abbreviated, with smaller portions, and less competent execution. It's also more expensive. We tried them the same week they re-opened after their renovations and actually had to send back a couple of dishes, they were that poor. After giving them a couple of months to "work out the kinks" we went back. Unfortunately, they have not improved. In addition to the menu being truncated from that of the original restaurant, several items are (again) not available. Meanwhile, the quality & taste are just not there. All you can eat dim sum?! Say less. For $55 including tax and tip, my fiance and I had so many options for lunch! I love ordering chive dumplings and stuffed eggplant at dim sum. Of course the classics like shu mai and ha gow are also a must! I like that you can grab your own small dishes. We also ordered some dishes with the waitress, and they were made fresh for us. Some items were missing, however, like the coconut pudding and durian pastry. Overall I think it is a good deal for the variety you get! read more

Great all-you-can-eat dim sum spot! Definitely worth the price for the quality and variety of food you get. Everything came out fresh, hot, and flavorful. Theres an oven to get some items by yourself and some small dishes like cucumbers and chicken on the table to grab. The dim sum dishes, buns, and noodles were especially good. There's a fresh Chinese veggie station where they steam them to order! The staff were very friendly and made sure we always had what we needed. It is 4.5 stars. This new restaurant has potential for the future due to good wok techniques. The pan fry noodles dishes we have are very good. The restaurant is newly open. We have two noodles dish and a pan fry dumplings. The pan fry dumplings is good. Price is just at market average. The two noodle dishes we have are the shredded pork with fry fish noodle. That noodle is special dish from fujian. The other dish we have the pan fry rice cake with chicken. This dish is just average. Overall the food is good. We tried this newly open restaurant on Fletcher. The food was delicious. We were given two different menus. Both got extensive selection of Chinese dishes from dim sum to sea food, spicy dishes -so many specialties styles from different regions of China. The menu showed clear pictures and prices. We ordered a stir-fry fish noodle which the noodle was made from fish meat. Good texture of the noodle, it didn't have the strong fishy taste. The companion vegetable and pork and the sauce were all delicious. We had the pot stickers from dim sum menu. They tasted good, although they were deep fried instead of pan fried. The third dish was the stir-fry rice cake. I also liked it-the texture, the stir-fry technique and the ingredients were all pleased me. The portion was generous. The service was pretty good. Newly remodeled interior and restrooms were refreshing and comfortable. I love their weekday lunch special menu- so many options and economical prices. From 11 in the morning until three it's $21.99 for all the dim sum you'd like to eat. The best deal in Tampa, it's prepared perfectly and all their dim sum is delicious. Highly recommend. read more

If I could give 0 starts I would. I use to be a regular at ho ho choy for years. I was so sad when they closed. My friend and I would go every Saturday. We wanted to try out the new place. I sadly will never step foot in that place again. I ordered the chicken with garlic sauce, it literally tasted and smells like someone threw up in the food. I didn't even take a bite because I was so scared I would get really sick. My friend's orange chicken was the same. It smelled rotten. As soon as the food came out we asked for to go boxes and left. As soon as we drove away we threw it out. We literally had to air out the car for the entire trip home because it made the car smell so bad. I'm so disappointed because I loved the old restaurant.
