I ordered the chicken enchiladas today, and the chicken tasted sour to me. I called the restaurant right away and spoke with the manager, Armando, to address the issue. Instead of trying to resolve the situation, he was argumentative and dismissive, repeatedly insisting there was nothing wrong with the food. I brought the food back to the restaurant so they could see the issue firsthand. The manager kept the dish but refused to issue a refund. The only option he offered was to remake the order as plain cheese enchiladas, which I did not feel was a reasonable solution given my concern about the quality of the original meal. During the interaction, I also asked for a copy of the receipt, and he claimed I never asked for it, which added to the frustration. Overall, this experience felt unprofessional and poorly handled. I left without my food and without a refund. I hope the owner addresses how customer concerns are managed, because this was very disappointing read more

I decided to try this location because I have enjoyed the other 2. Hardly waited to be sat down and decided to share our 2 dishes. Got the Tacos al Carbon, fajita meat and the chicken enchiladas Del Crème. Wow the meat was very tender on both dishes. Fajita meat was very delicious and looking forward to eating the Fajita dish here. Our service was very prompt and seemed like if we needed anything they were there to serve us. This location is a little more laid back and was not as crowded as the other 2 on a Friday night but could have been a home football game. We will be coming back to this location and looking forward to the atmosphere. read more

I've been here twice. Both times I got the street tacos. My only complaint is I wished they offered a salsa with them. Their prices are decent and the food is decent. You aren't going to leave saying it was the best Mexican / Tex-Mex you've ever had but you'll leave satisfied. Service was decent both times, place can get kind of loud but I've never had to wait for a table, even on a weekend evening. read more

POOR customer service. Their website lists a single taco (fajita) for $3.10 however i was charged $7.53 tax included. When i mentioned the price discrepancy to the counter guy he said "we'll have to look into that " instead of honoring their online pricing! This place was really good, my boyfriend brought me here and their menu was really big and they had lots to chose from. I usually get the stuffed avocado if it's on the menu and that's what I got. It was a really big plate and severed with rice and Varro beans. Everything was delicious. We also ordered some queso blanco and I enjoyed that as well. I love that they served it with jalapeños. They had someone making fresh tortillas too! Love that. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered margaritas as well and could not have more than one because they were so so strong. This place is in a shopping center and doesn't look like much from the outside but is really cute on the inside. They have a patio with lights. I'd make the hour drive just to eat here again! I don't remember what my drink was called, it was some sort of peach concoction and had a wonderful flavor. The Beef Fajita Al Carbon are some of the best I've had in ages, I really enjoyed how it was chopped into nice little bites unlike the typical thick strips that can be hard to eat. A lovely char on each piece too! My mother ordered a chicken dish smothered in shrimp, crawfish and a white wine sauce. Absolutely delicious! The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the sauce weirdly addicting, definitely worth a try. read more

This was my first time at Mr. Sombrero, but a friend highly recommended it. I was joined by my husband and mother in law. My mother in law is notoriously picky and hard to please. The biggest endorsement I can give is that my mother in law said she loved this place and said we need to go here more often. I had the Norma dinner - one cheese enchilada, one tamale topped with enchilada sauce and cheese, a beef crispy taco, cheese puff, charro beans and rice. I noted that the taco was perfectly assembled and still crispy by the time it was served. I personally hate when I get soggy tacos but this one was great. The tamale was generous filled with meat and the enchilada was delicious. I enjoyed the charro beans and paid a little extra to switch from refried to charro, but I generally prefer charro. We eat out more than we should but we love Mr Sombrero's! The food is always good, service is great, ambiance is ok. We made it our Friday night ritual to celebrate the end of another week. They have great margaritas (I like the non published top shelf "Diana Rita") I have noticed the quality of there corn chips has taken a nose dive over time. Went for dinner and had not been to this location before. Decor is nice, good looking bar area. One of the reasons I love this restaurant is because I can get the molcejete. I got the Ranchero II and it was plentiful. My only negative comment was the food was luke warm but the flavors were on point. The chorizo is legit and rice and beans are great. Homemade tortillas and warm salsa rounded out yet another good experience! Husband had chile rellenos with shredded chicken. Service was attentive and professional. We will be back. read more

Everyone I know is excited to have the third location of Mr. Sombrero open in Alvin, Texas. Nice new place! You must try, I am happy with the location! The salsa is served warm, which I like, however the flavor is not turned up to the max temperatures. We asked for green sauce and were immediately starved a chilled green sauce in the same shiny pewter dish as the salsa roja. Such a great compliment to the food served. The manager talked with us and we enjoyed the information and conversation with him regarding the restaurant and futball. We will be back many times and invite our family and friends. read more

I was really excited about getting a new restaurant in Alvin and I have to be honest I'm disappointed? Don't get me wrong Mr. Sombrero's has good chips and salsa and house margaritas but what I ordered was subpar. I tried the mixed fajitas for one and I got 4 strips of chicken and 4 strips of beef which had no flavor at all. The fajitas came with a side of refried beans, Spanish rice, guacamole and tortillas and the sides where ok but the tortillas where undercooked. This is a nice local restaurant with good margaritas and decent food. The previous manager, Alex, went out of his way to take of folks. We typically go around 6 or7. Some nights are busier than others but there's room at the bar to wait. We'll head back again soon but know it won't be the same without Alex. read more

My sister and her family really liked this restaurant so they suggested we try it. Her kids love their white Queso. My husband and I have been here several times since it's so close to home. He loves it. He says it tastes like authentic Mexican food. He said the rice tastes like what his grandma used to make. Personally, I think it's OK. As I've mentioned before, I'm more of a Tex-Mex gal. We've tried several things here: The fried avocado, cheese enchiladas, Queso, fajitas and Queso flameado. I liked everything but nothing blew my mind. I've also tried a couple of drinks - a frozen flavored margarita (Strawberry-Mango I think) and Strawberry Mojito. They were both great! We absolutely love this place! We go there often and not once have we ever had anything to complain about. The food is great and the service is even better. The servers are friendly, polite and attentive. You never have to ask for a refill on your drinks, they stay on top of it. The white queso is fantastic! The salsa is always good. Waitress was semi-attentive but disappeared at the end of our visit: we had to wait a long time for our to-go box, then our check, THEN for her to process the credit card. Sheesh. Came here on Friday lunch and the place was busy. Service was great and attentive Food - (not so well) Chips were warm and crispy Salsa had ok taste - too watery in my opinion I had the beef fajitas and nothing great. Meat was ok not tender (tasteless) The corn tortillas seemed not to be cook enough so as soon as I built my first taco, it felt apart. (I can't believe the fajitas don't come with Mexican rice!!) never got a choice of beans. Pico de gallo was just tomatoes.
