Came to Juanito's tonight for dinner ordered the taco plate that comes with rice, beans, three tacos. Also got three tacos alone without the rice, beans. And got four little salsa's the lady charged me two salsa's for $1.50. The taco plate should come with two. I think the owner should stop being so stingy with their salsa they give you a small amount anyway's. And the tacos are over prized. Family went to dinner here today and we ordered a meat plate, they literally throw taco meat on the plate and give you tortillas beans and rice. So basically should just be a disassembled taco plate! Ordered two asada burritos and they use store bought thick flour tortillas and I wish I would've taken a picture of the so called burrito! It was small , stingy with the meat beans and rice because that's all they put in it.. deff do not recommend at all!!! It's super pricy in my opinion. We should've gone across the street to Mil Tacos! So disappointed seriously we left that place to eat at McDonald's because the burrito was small and didn't fill up our teenager at all! Juanitos is my favorite taqueria. Theres dozens on Hemphill and in surrounding areas and while I haven't been to all, I've been to many and adore Juanito's. At this point I've been at least two dozen times and the quality is consistent. Only once have the onions not been cooked quite as well as they usually are and the rice texture was subpar, but every other time everything has been flawless. The meat is always perfectly flavored and cooked. I typically get asada but have gotten almost every meat on their menu and they're all amazing. The tortas are good as well. I ordered the taco plate which comes with 3 tacos and rice & beans. They offer a wide selection of meats/taco options on the menu, and I tried the barbacoa, chicken, and carne asada tacos. The food was prepared quickly and I do not think that it would change much even when it gets more crowded. The rice & beans and carne asada taco were good, but nothing special. I really liked the chicken and barbacoa tacos as the meats were well seasoned. I topped off my tacos with salsa, chili, and added grilled onions too. The manager will her back up & the staff that fixed the plate stood by silently even when when I stated that that was not what I ordered. Very poor customer service bad management. We have lived in the area for a few years but have never built up enough courage to dive into this seeming neighborhood favorite. One Sunday evening, we (my wife and I) decided take the plunge and to jump right into Juanitos. We pulled into the drive through and only waited a few minutes, the food came out bagged up, fast, hot and ready to go. When we arrived home, our mouths watered and our adrenaline began to pump through our Mexican bodies, anxious to bite into this culinary masterpiece. The tortillas looked a little old but nonetheless we bit into the carne asada tacos, as we began to chew our mouths were consumed by the lack of flavor and seasoning. It even seemed as if the salt had called in sick. Was this a joke? Were we being pranked? Unfortunately no one ever came out from behind the couch to tell us we had been punked, no camera crews, no laughs. We were disgracefully left with a plate full of tasteless, rubber like tacos. Even our desperate attempt to baptize the carne asada in hot sauce failed miserably, the Aztec Gods were angered, our Mexican cards were nearly revoked. Pray for us, pray for us all. read more
