Passed by this a couple times before and they usually have decent traffic going through the drive thru. Barbacoa tacos - not dry, more on the oily side. Hubby likes it this way, he said its the best he has had in a while. Asada tacos - I don't recommend. Dry (even with salsa), no flavor super chewy. Refried beans just tasted like straight out of a can.. not a fav. I asked for a carne asada burrito with cilantro and beans. The size is good however it tasted and looked more like shredded beef. The avocado is extra so I choose to add my own st home. The cashier was rude and trying to hurry us up. Ordered asada tacos and the meat was bland and super dry and chewy. Ordered a cup of menudo and the broth lacked flavor. Ordered lengua tacos and they didn't have any seasoning. If it weren't for their salsa verde which wasn't the best either the tacos wouldn't have been edible. This is THE WORST taqueria I have EVER been to! The food is terrible. No type of flavor/seasoning, a low quality of meat and even the rice and beans were bad! Nobody wanted to eat the food. The horchata seriously lacked flavor. You'd think with the quality of food they're serving that they would at least have good customer service to make up for it but NOPE! Ive been coming here on and off for about 10 years. This visit I got a couple of tacos de chicharrones. Nice crispy pork skins with some attached crunchy meat which is my favorite way to eat it. (If you ask for that in Oklahoma, where I live now, you will get the soft kind which I do not like) So I always ask when I go somewhere Ive never been. The tacos come with cilantro and onion with some homemade green salsa and a lime wedge. Single tacos are just about $2 each with tax. They have other delicious meat to choose from. I always stick to the chicharron and the barbacoa. The burritos are very good and a nice size. Those have your choice of meat, refried beans, cilantro, onions, cheese and salsa. They also have platos that come with rice, beans and choice of tortillas. They have nachos with nacho cheese which I have had many times and with those, they have good days where the cheese is nice and smooth and the chips are crispy but then they have their bad days where the cheese is lumpy and the chips are stale. Ask to taste a chip and judge yourself if youre not sure. You can order them with just cheese and jalapenos or you can order them with your choice of meat for an additional price. I truly feel Yelp! was invented for places like Ernesto's Taqueria. Getting the word out on a place like this is what's it's all about. This is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. Granted, it's largely tacos, burritos, nachos etc., (hence the name Taqueria, which means Taco Shop) there is no where I have ever been that is as delicious as this place. Here's the skinny: The menu is broken up basically into two parts: meats and "styles" (for lack of a better word). They also offer all of the sides you would expect like rice and beans, Mexican soup, grilled jalapeño's, chips, salsa etc. So, let's say you're in the mood for beef fajita meat, you would then pick your "style", as in Burrito, Gordita, Taco, Nacho etc. and that's pretty much it. Their meat truly is the best. So far, I have enjoyed Beef fajita, Carnitas, Tripas, Lengua (this was my first time eating tongue and it was one of the best things to ever grace my mouth) and a couple other things that were ordered for me. Of everything I have had here so far, there hasn't been one item I didn't thoroughly enjoy. OHHHHHH, and they have breakfast! (They open at 7am) I'm talking big ol' fat breakfast burritos that'll make your Moms stomach hurt after you're done eating them. They are SOOOOOOO good!!! Mmmm.. drunk food... Cash only. I really don't know the hours, just that they are open at least till 3 am on party nights. Yelp Queen Lauren and I somehow made it here after a night of schmoozing and boozing and I am eternally grateful for the intro. This place is legit- chopping block and all. The food is authentic and just what you need to soak up any libations. The parking lot is horrendous- or maybe my equilibrium is off every time I'm there? Its spacious enough, just full of craters and people that suck at parking. The line weaves all over- expect to wait- its worth it. its set up cafeteria style- there is a small basic order board that doesn't have everything available- don't be shy and ask the meat guy with the cleaver what they have. I also suggest the carnitas and the barbacoa if its available. They had cochinita pibil once when I was there- but it might have been a special occasion as I haven't seen it since. you just tell them what meat you want and in what form and they do their thing. The meat is slapped on the chopping board and hacked to perfection- I like when the meat is tender and bite size. then its loaded with all the toppings and you pay at the end.. I love the burritos here even though I don't normally eat them. They stuff them with rice, beans, cheese, onions, choice of meat, and salsa. I always ask for extra green salsa- trust me. I've taken tacos to go and eaten them as soon as I got home- just as good 30 minutes later. What a great byob spot in Ft. Worth. The menu is easy, half meats/fillings and the other half ways to have it served (taco, torta, burrito, etc). We both had the burrito, one with spicy pulled pork and the other with chorizo and potato. The chorizo with potato was my favorite. The spicy pork was wonderful. We brought a six pack of negra modelo with us which we picked up for less in the store than a couple in a restaurant. The food was wonderful, but it was even better washed down with that tasty brew. The value of the food is also incredible. For $7.50 we got two big as your head burritos, which left us very full and satisfied. And, they had those tiny little chiclet-style gums which are yummy! I liked the cinnamon. :) They are open until 3am on the weekends, which saved us when I forgot my purse there just 15 minutes before we were supposed to be seated for a performance in Bass. If only we lived anywhere near this place, we'd be there way too often for it to be healthy for us. read more

The Green Chili Pork here is the best tasting I have ever had, and is second to none! The restaurant is family owned so it's always nice to see the same people when I go. My worst reviews yet my only 2 Star and I'm a nice guy. I know Mexican food because I am Mexican and eat it all the time. Total disappointment today and I tried 4 different tacos at $2 each and depending on who serves you, you get a healthy portion or barely any meat as shown here with Asada. 3 bites per taco and not filling at all, I was still hungry . Pork with green sauce and Pork with red sauce, Barbacoa and Asada tacos today. Pepper and onions were free I think. (Pork) was tough to chew, maybe sitting around too long. (Barbacoa), I'm used to greasy but that was a little too much and the (Asada) was hard to eat. No flavor , was very bland and had some chewy fat on it, almost glad he didn't put a lot of meat in that taco. Guess they tried to mask it with extra onions and cilantro. $8 total and not happy at all. There are way too many places to eat instead of here and believe me I will be there instead. read more

Long overdue on writing this review. Ernesto's. OH Ernesto's. This is the best place to get authentic, cheap and fast mexican food in funky town. The owner is so nice. The staff is always friendly and don't laugh too much at my spanglish :) A few of my favorite things from here are the carnitas - usually I get that in a burrito- with beans, cheese and lots of green sauce. It's huge. Like Chipotle huge and way more than enough for one person. The machacado is good too. Also in burrito form- shredded beef mixed with eggs and slapped in a tortilla with beans and cheese and more of that delicious green sauce. Tripas tacos are great and the guisado is spicy and rich. They open at 7 am and stay open till 3 am on weekends. Late night taco cravings are satisfied here. Just a tip- the later in the day the spicier the house green sauce.
