    Get extra gravy!!!

Sometimes the service can make or break the experience you have, however this experience was phenomenal and the food superb! The bartender was very engaging and made my husband a very good drink. We had the cracklins, burnt ends, and the pork chops! My recommendation is get the pork chops with extra gravy. You'll thank me later! I can literally just have the gravy and bread it's so good. The cracklins were seasoned and tender. BUT THAT Burnt ends and beans and slaw mixture is RIDICULOUS! It was so good we had to order one to go so my brother in law could try it. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!!

Met up for a quick drink with a friend passing through. I had the met which was a delicious cocktail. I also tried the boudin balls which were good. The bartender was very attentive and didn't mind us sitting until close. It was very quiet and chill

Had the friendliest server ever and the food was once again amazing. Had a really good fish sandwich and fries, and the salads are definitely shareable. The menu is a little different than the last time I came and one of my favs had been removed but still overall great place to enjoy a glass of wine and a good meal.

Ample parking. Staff greeted up as soon as we walked inside. The restaurant was very clean. Music playing in background. We were there on a weekend during brunch. I ordered a club sandwich but instead of honey mustard ordered mayo. It was delicious. My husband ordered the pork schnitzel. He really enjoyed and did share a bite. It was absolutely delicious. My daughter ordered French toast. It also was very good. Large portions. My daughter and I both had leftovers to take home. Wait staff was great throughout visit.

    Cubano with house chips.

We went for Sunday brunch. It wasn't very busy, and definitely not crowded. There was no wait at noon on a Sunday. Our server and the manager or owner were friendly and attentive. The food had great flavors, but wasn't plated very well and the portions were skimpy. We were a table of 7 adults. Each of us had something we thought could have been better or improved. The house chips were over fried, almost to the point of being burnt. My mom and I had the Cubano sandwich, one of the sandwich halves on both of our plates had half the meat of the other half and some of the bread was soggy. All of the sandwiches were served with a pickle spear, but some of the spears were nearly half the size of the others, and they were more cucumbers than pickles. The bbq sauce was too vinagry. My son ordered the CP breakfast plate, and the servings of the grits and gravy were minuscule (served in little ramekins that were less than a cup). Also, the side serving of macaroni and cheese for $6 was tiny-less than 10 ounces or so. We had a nice time and our waters were refilled often, but there are too many good restaurants that aren't stingy with their servings in Baton Rouge. Our ticket for 8 meals and 1 cocktail was about $150. Only one person had leftovers to bring home. Probably won't be back.

City Pork was a decent experience when dining there last weekend. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and decorated nicely. Our waitress was good and the food came in a decent amount of time. I ordered the BLT which came with tons of bacon! The bacon was very salty and the sandwich could of used a sauce since it was very dry from all the bacon. The French fries were good but costed extra to get them instead of the chips that comes with the BLT. The ranch was delightful to dip my fries in.

1/2 Dozen of Chargrilled Oysters and City Pork BBQ Platter

When I arrived a hostess wasn't present so I seated myself at the bar. The bartender was frigid and unfriendly so I ordered my food and move to a table. Another waiter and waitress servicing the bar area were very hospitable. I greatly appreciated and welcomed their presence. I ordered the City Pork BBQ Platter and substituted the pull pork for pork belly burnt ends. There's an upcharge for the burnt ends but it is so worth it. The burnt ends, brisket, ribs, and andouille sausage were delicious! I would have preferred if the brisket was all sliced instead of some chopped. I loved the potato salad because it was the perfect texture and not overly watery. The baked beans and coleslaw have a strong vinegary taste that I didn't like. The chargrilled oysters also were good but on the smaller side. The restaurant's atmosphere is very pleasing with warm lighting and comfortable seating. My overall dining experience was good with the exception of the bartender.

Not the best. City Pork on Jefferson is better. Service was good. Food was good - just not AS good as on Jefferson. Not sure why.

Food and drinks are pretty tasty. Was a bit pricy in my opinion but the bar area was really nice. Probably a good one for happy hour.

It wasn't spicy like most salsa that I taste, but it also had a different flavor. I couldn't really put my finger on what the difference was, but it was really good. I ordered the Carne Asada and it was 10 out of 10 for presentation. The dish came steaming, sizzling and smoking as they sat it down and it continued to do so for over a minute. While the steak was cooked properly, medium well as I requested, it was very tough. Maybe it was an angry cow. Regardless, the staff was very attentive. And the service was very fast. Ambience was nice and it felt very comfortable although it was a bit cold so I had to go and get a jacket for my mom and my sister-in-law. I would give them another try the next time I'm in the area. The menu had a few options that I would be interested in.

It was fun to see how they've transformed the old Golden Corral on Sherwood - the vibrant redecorations (including the Mardi Gras Christmas-style tree at the entrance) definitely were a new take on the former buffet! The hospitality was top-tier, professional, and genuinely welcoming. As for the cuisine, the flavors were exceptional. My wife might have found her new favorite Mexican go-to based solely on the quality of their queso! I opted for the Asada Chilaquiles Rojos, and I must say, the execution was divine. The steak was tender, and the eggs were prepared to perfection. We are already plotting our return to dive into their taco selection. My only minor critique involves the menu structure: I found myself wishing for a few combination plates. While there are "a la carte" options, I would prefer a curated combo to make things simpler. I want to try all the things!

This place is awesome. I think it is the best BBQ in Baton Rouge and one of the best in Louisiana…read more The fact that I have let this draft sit for so long is ridiculous. I couldn't wait to be one of the first customers at this location. You see, I read an article that mentioned there was a version of this restaurant in MS near the coast. That was a huge bummer since I spent the majority of time out there and never knew it existed. But, you don't care about me, you want to know about the que! I am a Texas BBQ fanatic. If I could eat brisket every day, I would. The problem is that for many many years, no one in Louisiana understood good Texas style BBQ. That all changed when folks like Nola Smokehouse and later Gonzo's (The current champ) came arond and showed us what we were missing. Salt, Pepper, Oak (SPO) is one of the latest in the modern LA BBQ joints that does the best Texas BBQ a LA boy could hope for. Brisket - This is my primary reason for coming. It is always smoky, flavorful, and oh so briskety. If you have had real deal Texas BBQ, you know what real brisket is like. This is it. It is delicious. Everything else - Thats the thing with SPO. It is so much more than just brisket. When I am feeling a little wild, I get brisket and something else. The excellent something elses include turkey breast, wings, sausage, and those tallow fries. All are as good as the brisket. Trust me when I tell you, this place is legit. The location is in an industrial area but is well laid out, and there is plenty of seating. Pay with a card in the line, make your drink, grab utensils, and grab a seat. They bring your food to you. The whole process is super easy and you will love it. PS. Their mustard based sauce is the best I have ever had. Send me the recipe if anyone has it. Please!

The best thing I had on my plate was the fries! They were so so good! I loved what my friend got...I should have gotten the sausage and brisket because that was perfection. The sizes of the meats were very large. I didn't love this restaurant set up. They don't serve beer and they don't have Diet Coke for the fountain drink. I would pick up to go next time!
