    Brisket "small" plate.
    Jessica W.

Why haven't you been? That's what I asked myself last night when I finally rolled in after reading a sassy retort to an asshat reviewer on this page. After last night's tasty giant platter of food, I'll be back. Order: large plate, ribs and chicken with mac n cheese and green cabbage (for the health factor ). Hubby's order: small plate with brisket and mac n cheese. Plus a cherry lime fresh squeezed lemonade. This is a small place with large flavors. Seems like most orders are to-go although there is a small patio area for when it's not hotter than shit. Workers are hella kind. Customers waiting for food will chat you up about why this place is so good. The large plate was huge. Jerk chicken was spiced so well...that almost too spicy but I can't quit eating it. And not a dry chicken piece in the bunch. Ribs were smoky and spiced well. Mac and cheese, noms. Cabbage was also delish with bits of bell pepper mixed in. But I stole a bite of that brisket and I wanted more more more. From my one large plate, I have 2 additional meals of leftovers, which makes it well worth the price (and support our local places please!). Also, the hot sauce? Pretty sure it's homemade. Plates, bowls, salads, sandwiches. Starts at $9 and I think the most expensive plate was $25. You won't regret eating here.

The jerk chicken salad at Juice Unwind is unreal. Perfectly spiced, bold but balanced, and actually satisfying not a sad "healthy" option. Everything tastes fresh, the flavors work effortlessly, and you leave feeling good instead of heavy. One of those orders you think about after. Would 100% get again.

    Southern Jerk Chicken Sandwich

I rarely eat meat nowadays, so when I do, I want to make sure it's genuinely great, and this is always my top of mind place for that. I've been here a number of times since they opened up, and it's always been a great experience. The people running it are super friendly, and the vibe inside is chill. So far I've had their BBQ ribs (the best I can remember having (just fall-off-the-bone tender with amazing flavor), BBQ brisket, jerk chicken, jerk chicken sandwich, and southern jerk chicken sandwich. I switched over to sandwiches with my more recent purchases, because I'm usually pretty broke and $8 for a sandwich this quality is an absolute steal. I have never come close to having the same experience as the one star folks who complain about their chicken being dry, so their reviews have left me baffled. The jerk chicken (and the sauce!) is a thing of beauty that sometimes haunts my dreams and makes me wish food joints in Chico stayed open later. That said, I do miss the bone-in jerk chicken they used to offer, but I can understand if there wasn't much demand for it since so many prefer boneless. Anyway, if you're looking for quality, flavorful, slow-cooked deliciousness, check this place out. My sandwich pic won't do it justice, so just experience it for yourself.

The food is delicious, the juice is amazing and the staffs are friendly! Limited hours but such a great spot. What I got: Oxtail (meat only) , soo tender and flavorful! You taste the love and the depth of the various ingredients. Also huge portions for the price: Money bang for you bucks Jerk chicken and ribs meal combo: bean and rice with boiled cabbage; such a classic. By far the beans and rice and boiled cabbage are my fav paired with the oxtail. The bean and rice has a hint of cinnamon? Or something delectable. The cabbage pairs very well with the heavy oxtail to bring in the lighter notes. A must when visiting Juice unwind. Juice 1 : cucumber, ginger and something. Tasted great and felt like a great colon cleanse (jk). It's for a kick from the ginger. Juice 2: Apple, carrot and Pineapple (omg sooo good!!!) Will be coming back for more!!! You must try the fresh juices and their food so delicious somewhat healthy (jk).

    Brisket portion in meal!

It's like Christmas in June. Found a new barbecue spot in last week and now another with just as good of brisket. Had heard good things on the chico foodies page, and decided to swing through on a whim. The folks were very nice and hospitable, and they sure don't cheat you on the amount of brisket you get with a brisket meal. I also had the baked beans and the mac & cheese with it and it all was excellent. Very, very good food go try them out!

Partially eaten full rack of ribs!

Jerk Shack specializes in the cuisine of Jamaica, as the husband is a native of Kingston, Jamaica, and has been cooking since he was a young man. Kansas City met Kingtson at the 2nd Annual Placer County Fair Rib Cookoff! Jerk Shack is a food truck that provides catering service and sets up shop at special events, such as farmers markets, corporate and private parties, local breweries, and county fairs. The truck has a presence at the weekly "Farmers Market," held every Tuesday at Fountains of Roseville. I certainly need to pay the event a visit! The restaurant had a large pan of ribs, ready to serve to hungry rib-loving customers. Like all the restaurants in the rib cookoff, after each rack of ribs is removed from the grill, the rack is cut into individual servings. Tickets for the event were sold in lots of 5 tickets for $10.00, and can be used in any combination at all of the 25 teams participating in the event. Since the tasting time was limited to only two hours - I wish it was a couple hours longer - I chose to only visit three vendors, and enjoy five ribs from each vendor, to allow me to chit-chat with the staff, take photos, and enjoy the delicious ribs. The amazingly friendly owners of Jerk Shack, Shaun and Myisha Parker, treated me, and all of their customers like members of their family. These folks know how to grill/smoke amazing "Kansas City style" pork ribs, with a Jamaican twist. My order of five amazingly-delicious pork ribs, from the kitchen of Jerk Shack. This fine restaurant was my last rib stop for the day, as I only had the opportunity to visit three restaurants in the short two-hour period the rib tasting part of the event lasted. The rib cookoff rules required all ribs to be cooked "Kansas City style," as there was a certified Kansas City rib judge on hand, to ensure ribs were cooked in that genre of barbecue. Jerk Shack is a Jamaican restaurant, and it must have taken a "little doin'" for them to alter their Jamaican recipes to Kansas City standards, but the accomplished the feat with class and style! My five ribs were large, tender, juicy and seared on the outside to a nice "crust," yet moist and tender inside. The ribs were definitely cooked "Kansas City style," but you could definitely taste a hint of Jamaican in the ribs and the sauce, as I suspect the ribs were cooked using pimento wood - flown in from Jamaica - and the sauce was sweet, and just a little spicy, with a hint of Jamaican flavor. Whatever the heritage of these ribs, this was delicious barbecue! Kingston met Kansas City at the 2nd Annual Placer County Fair Rib Cookoff in Roseville, at Jerk Shack! Jerk Shack grills amazing pork ribs! Despite the fact that the cuisine of Kansas City and Kingston are thousands of miles apart, I simply loved Shaun and Myisha's delicious Kansas City style ribs, with a Jamaican slant. I'll be looking for Jerk Shack at The Fountains at Roseville, or another area "foodie" event in the near future.
