Still one of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor. I'm glad it's not right in downtown because I'm sure it would be much busier than it already is! Although they now have a few outdoor tables which opens up more seating. Since my first review, they've changed their gluten free bread which is now even bigger and better tasting. The food at Juicy Kitchen was delicious. I enjoyed the power bowl topped with an egg over easy. The guacamole was a nice addition to this wonderful blend of quinoa and vegetables. My husband's JK Club was huge and very tasty. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their meal. We went on a Saturday at 10:15 and had a 25 minute wait. This is my favorite Ann Arbor breakfast spot. It features a creative menu and all meals are as fresh as can be! I have had the French toast, Benedict, scramble, and numerous breakfast sandwiches. Every time I go I see something else I need to try next time. Today it was the smoked salmon scramble...with fresh veggies & fruit. Outstanding! Creative roasted red pepper, garlic & sriracha sauce mixed with ultra fresh veggies and perfectly smoked salmon. Loved it. Wife had an avocado, goat cheese, and sun dried tomato, egg breakfast sandwich. The bread alone was worth the price of admission. Highly recommend this place! This is my favorite place to get breakfast food in Ann Arbor. Food options are staples, but with slight variations - interesting, healthy ingredients incorporated into the meal as additions or item replacements. The menu changes frequently, but salads are generous, flavorful and chock full of fruit. Every soup I've tried has had a well-thought-out, interesting blend of flavors. My favorites are the benedict options. Every week there is a different "rotating" eggs benedict: sweet potato polenta cakes with kale hash and goat cheese hollandaise, crab cakes benedict, corn cake with veggie hash. (Sweet potato is my favorite). I haven't tried anything from the lunch menu aside from salads yet. However, oepn hours are limited and the space is small. It can be difficult to get a seat - I wouldn't come here with a group larger than 4. read more

This place has the best customer service!! I assumed everything was gluten free and ordered my boyfriends food. When the food came out and it wasn't- the hostess was beyond amazing. I offered to pay for the remake of the food- and she declined. Emily was the front of the house manager. She promptly replaced out order with gluten free. She was simply outstanding. I am a hospitality manager and I will have to commend the staff here! First class. Not to mention- the food is outstanding. On a bone-chillingly cold day, the chick pea vegetable soup really hit the spot. Pairing that with the blackberry salad was a great combination. It's been a little crowded for my tastes more than once but I picked a day unfit for man or beast to go so it was only about half full. Plenty of elbow room on this occasion. If you would have asked me yesterday morning, I would have said only wussie-boys and rabbits. I ordered what seemed to be an over-priced handful of "grilled lettuce" -- thinking, "yeah, sure. who grills lettuce?" Without any question, this was the most amazing taste bud overload I have ever self-induced. I don't know if this is some trendy thing, the grilling of lettuce, but jeez-la-weez, this thing was off-the-leash. The huge croutons with whatever dressing they put in that little 1oz cup was the foreplay. However, that didn't last too long. I've always said, a good crouton, that means something. These were good and when I got around to the main course, my crouton axiom was given new credence. I was blown away. Heavenly trauma ensued. I needed to validate so I pulled in two others to get their opinion. Not sure if they were agreeing with me because a total stranger was asking them to share a plate, or if they too had an advanced uber-palate like me. Doesn't matter, they said almost the same thing before they ran away. I asked my daughter to choose a healthy place for breakfast/brunch in Ann Arbor. Juicy Kitchen was an excellent choice. We both ordered coffee and read through the entire menu. So much good stuff to choose from! We settled on Good Morning Sunshine, and two Hot Messes. We wanted to lick the plates! Tasty, wholesome, and all sorts of delicious superlatives. It is definitely a place we will visit again to work our way through the menu - and into the lunch/dinner menu as well. Juicy Kitchen is located in a strip center, so parking is limited. Also, the café itself is not very big (fewer than 10 tables), so seating is at a premium. With lots of walk-in traffic, and table turnover, the cashier/waitstaff were a bit slow on clearing/wiping tables in order for other folks to sit. However, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Give it a shot, and get some good food for your day! read more

The juicy kitchen doesn't stick out from the road because I used to live in the area and never noticed it. But they are a great option for breakfast, especially if you have celiacs disease or you're vegan/vegetarian! All of their options were really healthy and fresh which I really appreciated. Since my original review a couple years ago, I've become really fond of Juicy Kitchen and their healthy/creative reformulations of classic cafe fare. Their vegetarian omelettes are the best in town, stuffed with creative yet thoughtful combinations of fresh, local produce and delicious cheeses; I really appreciate the variety of seasonal ingredients that you won't see at average breakfast joints (things like arugula, butternut squash, brussels sprouts, beets, and more). While I usually stuck with omelettes, the Mediterranean roasted eggplant sandwich is also delightful, overflowing with rich flavors and creamy juiciness (which can make dignified dining a bit difficult). And rather than a pile of starchy carbs on the side, most entrees are accompanied by a lightly-dressed salad of greens and fruits (again, extremely fresh, local/seasonal produce). Among the sweet treats, the espresso bean cookies deserve special recognition. They have different texture from your typical cookie, but are nonetheless bursting with decadent chocolate-y deliciousness. Perhaps more importantly (for the health-conscious), they mostly consist of black beans and are lightly and naturally sweetened, so you needn't feel too guilty about indulging in them. Definitely grab one (or more) if they are in the baked goods case! (keep them cool to maintain firmness; they get a bit mushy when warm). Though I usually went for the made-to-order cafe dining, their fridge is stocked with selection of very enticing pre-prepared take-home foods (soups, salads, entrees, quiche, dessert), often creative concoctions (the kind you'd find on Pinterest) showcasing seasonal produce from local farmers (menu changes weekly, new set of items each Monday). As others have noted, the space is very limited, so you could run into trouble if you show up at a popular hour, particularly with a group. But in some ways the small-ness adds to the charm of this place. Best advice would be to arrive early, before things get really busy. Coming in during a quiet morning, you'll get to truly savor the amazing food/coffee in a very cozy setting, attended by super friendly owners/staff. Wish every town had a place like Juicy Kitchen; truly one of the hidden gems of Ann Arbor. read more

Enjoy the food and the staff is friendly, but a couple drawbacks exist.... First, the facility is way too small, cramped, and not climate controlled. I had the baked egg on sweet potatoes and kale; perhaps I was looking forward to it too much based on other reviews, but I thought it was just ok, nothing to write home about. My wife had the rueben; it was not as good as the one at Native Foods in CA, but my wife thought it was probably a lot less fattening and healthier. It just seemed like there wasn't much spice in the spicy sauce, and she would have liked some horseradish on it. It was good, and I would go there again to try a different dish. I love Juicy Kitchen! I mostly go to Juicy for breakfast on the weekends but sometimes for lunch as well. The service is always fast and friendly. The food is delicious - fresh, local, organic. At breakfast - I really like their quiche or egg specials. The space is small so sometimes there can be a wait for a table on the weekend but I've never had to wait more than about 5-10 minutes. I wish I lived a little closer because I would go to Juicy Kitchen even more. read more
