The bad- it was cold enough to need a jacket while eating. We were seated and a half hour later noticed that other diners were being given bread and oil for dipping. We asked and got the bread. Our order got out of order somehow in the kitchen and it took 45 minutes to get our pizza. The pizza crust SEEMED like it was a premade crust. It was soft and not what I like in a crust. The tomatoes were not fully ripe. (It is January so what do you expect?) The good- the views on the second floor are nice. The toppings of the pizza other than the tomatoes were very good. They realized that it took a long time to get us served and went and checked on a "discount" for the long wait. The final result. We walked up to the manager and finally had to ask for our bill. They realized that this had not gone well and gave us the pizza at no charge. So- I am wiling to say that this simply went off the rails and probably is not normal. Last night, we finally gave Juliet's Kitchen a second--and very satisfying--chance. Word was they'd brought in new management and completely overhauled the menu, and honestly, it showed. Right off the bat I ordered the Sicilian Breeze cocktail--and yes, I loved it so much I went back for round two. It's light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, a promising sign of things to come. Then came the Lobster Arancini: golden, crispy spheres of gooey, lobster-studded rice that were so good I could've made a full meal out of them. The burrata salad that followed was on point, but it was the duck confit ravioli that stole the show. I've had duck dishes swing between fabulous and... not so much, but these ravioli were pure delight and a unanimous favorite at our table. It is a must have! What really won me over was seeing a local spot not only listen to feedback but completely reinvent itself. We ordered an appetizer, salad drinks and dinner. The appetizer and salad came out together and the drinks (wine and beer) did not arrive until our entree was served. Ordered what was called pulled Mozerella appetizer and it was not fresh or pulled. Ordered Salmon which was good and Chicken Piccata which was not. To start, my wife and I have been spoiled for most of our upbringing with St. Louis Hills Italian. Seeing as this recently opened we wanted to make it our first excursion into Austin Italian food. The space itself was beautiful and the service was good, but the food itself was just ok. The portions were very generous especially the size of the chicken on the chicken parmesan, so no one was going home hungry. However, the flavor itself could have been better. While the chicken was crispy and juicy, the sauce itself was acidic and in my wife's words tasted like Ragu. The Lasagna was better with a bolognese sauce that actually had a little kick to it that I enjoyed and the right amount of cheese, but the consistency wasn't right and reminded me of a frozen lasagna. Overall, the experience was good, but the food was just ok especially given the hype. Seeing as they are new and a little further away for us, we'll give it some time before trying again. read more

So why am I writing a review, you might ask? Well, we got him sorted out and ordered takeout and sat down for a drink. They were close to closing and said, "Sure, we could have a drink!" They even comped them with it being our anniversary. The food was delicious when we got home, even though it had sat a while. We had ravioli, rigatoni, and arancini. Mauricio was our server and he was great! The food came out for our group of 5 in a timely manner and the ambience was great. They had a female guitarist playing music and it was not too loud and she took requests! I really loved the spicy rigatoni as it had the right amount of spice and the flavor was delicious. Our table had 2 wood fired pizzas and they were really tasty. My brother said the lasagna was perfect! Mother loved her butternut squash soup. Focaccia bread served first was delicious. Kevin, the bartender last night, made my husband the best Old Fashioned drink and on the second round we took it to go and he allowed us to video him as he made the drink, in hopes we could recreate it at home. . We were on the square getting our weekly wine when we noticed Juliet had finally opened, and we couldn't be more excited. Walked in around 5:30pm, just in time to catch the end of happy hour which lasts 3-6pm. There was no wait and they had open seats on their balcony. It was a beautiful afternoon and we seemed to had just beat the dinner rush because tables began to fill quickly after we arrived. We quickly put in the Gorgonzola Arancini, a frosé and an old fashioned. The arancini was a delicious start, crispy crunchy on the outside with a creamy warm center, the melted gorg in the middle was the perfect touch. My wife and I shared an order of the Caesar and Bolognese both of which they split for us. Can never go wrong with a classic Caesar. The bolognese sauce was savory and fantastic, our noodles were a tad overdone but nonetheless a tasty dish. For dessert we got more cocktails, not pictured, the classic Aperol Spritz and then the Smoky Monkey. A spritz is always great! Was not the largest fan of the Smokey Monkey but that's just preference. Service was great. Everything came out in a timely manner. They are training servers which is always fun and our duo was very nice and helpful. We will definitely be coming back many times in the future, so glad to have this rather than Gumbo's. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 Food: N/A - Didn't get to try it After reading several of the reviews, I hate to pile on, but here goes....... We visited Juliette during the Red Poppy Festival, and the city square was packed with people. We had elbowed our way around the square when we came across this place. Looking in from outside, the place was fairly empty, which should have been our first clue. However, the "curb appeal", and a review of the online menu left us with the impression that it was maybe a little upscale and pricey for the crowd that was at the festival, which was why it was so empty. We soon found out why the minute we walked in...........the hostess was turning people away. Well, to be fair, she was actually telling them that there was a 15 - 20 minute wait for a table, and that they could wait outside. Whaaaaat?! The place was practically empty!!! When I asked what was wrong with all the empty tables, I was told that they had an upstairs area, as well, and that it was crowded, so they couldn't seat people downstairs because it would overwhelm the kitchen. We were hot, tired, and all we wanted to do was sit in the A/C and have a few drinks while we waited on a table. We didn't care if it would have taken us 30 - 45 minutes to get food, we just wanted to relax with a few drinks while we waited. Bottom line is that the creativity of the management at this establishment is non-existent. Knowing that the festival was going to take place, why didn't they......... 1. Create a special menu for those 3 days that could have been prepped ahead of time so that the kitchen wouldn't be overwhelmed. 2. If the upstairs area is the preferred seating area, why not convert the entire downstairs seating area to bar space (the small bar was full)? People could sit and enjoy some wine or cocktails while waiting on a table. Maybe even have some easy, pre-prepped appetizers that could have been sold (meatballs, mozarella sticks, anti-pasta plate [pre-plated, of course], etc). We would have been willing to spend $30 - $40, or more, on drinks and apps while waiting on a table. Too bad they lost out on that from us, and the 20 - 30 other people I saw them turn away. The management here is so uninspiring that I doubt I would ever go back. read more

The restaurant is beautiful and esthetic I'm really happy to see Juliet's outside of Austin. Everyone at the table was happy including my picky 5 year old nephew who got the spaghetti he deserves. Brandon was super nice and accommodating especially since we got here 45 mins before closing. We even ordered lasagna to go and had no problem getting it out. My ravioli was delicious, however the Italian sausage tasted more like a pancetta or bacon and wasn't really the highlight of the dish. It was very good balanced basil sauce that I sopped up with the fresh focaccia bread. Brandon let us know there's music upstairs after 9pm so it's great we had a late dinner!!! Went early evening to sit at the bar and have some drinks and an early dinner. The space itself is really nice. Our bartender was attentive and kind. It was happy hour, so we ordered a couple drinks and the calamari to start. We also were given warm house made focaccia with a garlic/olive oil dipping sauce. All that was great... then our meals came. We each ordered a pasta dish and at $20+ each you'd think the quality would be there. Mine was... fine. (Spicy pene alla vodka). The second my husband's plate came out, we could tell it wouldn't be good. Even before trying the pasta, it looked overcooked... or like it had been sitting under a warmer for 2hrs. But maybe that was just the piece of pasta (supposedly homemade) sticking out. Nope. The whole thing was a chewy, gummy mess. The bolognese sauce itself was also inedible. It had the consistency that was a cross between tomato paste and refried beans. The "sauce" was mixed in with the pasta, coating everything in a thick paste. (It did not look at all like the picture on their website/social media... very much a "what I ordered vs what arrived" scenario). Overall it just looked and tasted like a buffet catering pasta dish that was a week old and had been reheated. We were wondering if maybe we got some sort of family meal or brunch leftover. There has only been one other time we've ever sent something back to a kitchen (a meat not fully cooked). Based on entree prices and the quality we had experienced we didn't want to exchange it for anything else. We simply asked not to be charged for the dish as only two bites were taken before calling it quits. (They were thankfully gracious about it and removed it without fuss). I was expecting more from this place that everyone seemed to rave about given its other locations in Austin. Maybe it's because it's newly opened, but honestly for the money they charge for entrees, I'm not willing to risk experimenting with another dish if something like bolognese - a reliable staple at any solid Italian restaurant- can't even be executed properly. With tip (and this is excluding the one entree they removed) it came to $100. Really not worth the price point and giving it another gamble. I wouldn't say it's a total write off. We'd possibly go to the bar to have happy hour again... before having dinner somewhere else on the square. I'm basing stars on food quality, value, and likelihood to return. (It's not reflective of service by the service staff who were overall really warm... probably why this is 2 stars and not 1). read more

You are welcomed in the moment you step through the door. Under new management with a revamped menu. We sat outside on the balcony overlooking the beautiful square. Service was great! Not only was the food wonderful, so was the presentation. The lobster bite appetizer was a full lobster tail cut into bite size pieces in a light crispy breading, skewered and served in the shell.
