Second time at Juliet. Service was not great. Table of 4. Never offered water. Waitress spent way too much time in personal conversation with table behind us. Ordered pasta and a meatball. Sauce was good, pasta to aldente and meatball was very tough. Almost needed a knife to cut. Server inattentive for Parmesan once entrees were served as well as drink refills. So want this place to succeed but service definitely needs to improve before that will happen. read more

In spite of the earlier negative reviews and negative word of mouth, we decided to give this restaurant a try and we were pleasantly surprised. The first visit to Juliet was probably the one I should have reviewed as the service was wonderful and the food was good. Based on that visit, I went back this last Saturday with my husband. We had a reservation. The hostess was unfriendly, seemingly aggravated at having to acknowledge and seat us. Our waitress was warm and friendly but horrible at time management or just serving in general perhaps. Waiting about 20 minutes for our drinks, another 20 for appetizer and no, it was not busy. It was probably 45-50 minutes before we got our entrees which truly felt excessive. The food was ok- though the pasta with my chicken saltimbocca did not have nearly enough sauce or flavor and the prosciutto was about non existent. My husband enjoyed his shrimp scampi which has a creamy sauce rather than the normal garlic butter. The salted focaccia is out of this world and we ate a lot of it because of the wait for our food. The wine pours are very small for the price. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was very tasty. I'm torn about going back- the service is subpar and in a weird side note about the hostess, I got an email from Open Table saying I'd missed my reservation. They asked me to revise that if we had in fact been there. I DID revise that, stating we had been there for our reservation. Was it just too much effort for the hostess to click that button? What the?? All in all, staff REALLY needs some work/training- especially in customer service, and the food REALLY needs more attention. Juliet's GM or owners should recognize that a very good Italian restaurant has opened up right around the corner! Competition is real. I have been wanting to try this restaurant out because it is new in Georgetown, and so I looked it up on Yelp and OpenTable and noticed the reviews were sitting at 3.5 stars with slow service, cold food, and not mentioned the put down of walking in off the square asking to be seated to be shut down by the hostess; I noticed this happened even when OpenTable was showing availability within 15 minutes and this happened to me an my wife several weeks earlier and it made me wonder; were they really booked up? In any case, none of these things are going to help you decide whether to eat here, or what you might enjoy, but I noticed all these things and maybe you might have too. I still gave this restaurant a chance and am glad I did. The host that brought us to the table was gregarious and easy to talk to; a great first impression and one that I appreciated enough to mention; the server ended up being stellar; and did what servers do; made sure the quality of our food was excellent, which is was. She promptly got drink and app orders and delivered within a reasonable time; and got our dinner on order. Brought us some amazing bread and oils which were super tasty; don't miss these; and our app was stuffed mushrooms which my wife and I really enjoyed. I also had the Cabernet by the glass and it was very good too. I had the lasagna bolognese and my wife had the chicken saltanbuco (I didn't spell that right) which was very well done. I was stuffed by halfway through; blame it on my shrinking stomach and rising years of age, but very much enjoyed every bite. Got the rest to go; and was able to pay and get to the car to comment how hot the food still was in the containers. I was and still am impressed and would recommend everyone to go here and give it a try. I went with the expectation they the service would be slow; it was not and the server was really good. And if you have not ever eaten in Italy or Spain you don't know what slow is. I will be back and hope to see you there too. We went here for a birthday lunch. It was our second visit. The first wasn't good AT ALL so we wanted to give them another try. First, I absolutely LOVED the butter lettuce salad! Perfectly dressed and delicious. It made a wonderful lunch. Unfortunately the pesto chicken pasta was not. It was a huge clump of pasta that had obviously sat under the warm light a long time. We had watched everyone around us get served but we weren't worried. That salad! But we won't be back. If an Italian restaurant can't do pasta then it's not for me. Juliet's Kitchen is located in the quaint downtown area of Georgetown. It has two levels and has easy parking on the streets and in designated parking squares. It is a very appealing restaurant from the entrance. The menu is all made "from scratch", and we had a hard time choosing what to have for dinner. There were 7 of us, so we chose to begin with calamari as our appetizer, which was very good (2 servings is a good suggestion). The dinner choices were the italian sausage ravioli, the clams casino (even though it was listed as an appetizer), the bolognese, and chicken parmigiana, all of which contained very generous servings. Well, all of these were delicious and we had to ask for containers to take our left overs home! The service was excellent as well. The restaurant fills up quickly, so reservations are definitely recommended. If you are up in Georgetown, give this restaurant a try. I give it 5 stars for a great dining experience. read more

Not for me. Service was very good. Our server worked very hard to attend my every need, and others. The environment is relaxed, modern, but not upscale. We sat downstairs, and didn't see upstairs. Food? This is why we here. I think. The food is very bland. Stuffed mushrooms, probably the most boring I have ever experienced. Add Salt, spice, garlic, something? I can only say I could have taken store bought mushrooms, put them in my mouth and had the same experience. Monz cheese appetizer. Cheese with some balsamic drizzled and a side of arugula. Ok? Maybe consider adding some tomato or something to make it more exciting. Maybe sprinkle some parm or something. Lasagna, very bland. I don't like much salt, but I would say this needs more of everything. Salt, spice. Very boring. And I paid extra for the meatballs, which were also very boring. A mouth of meat, with no flavor. The lady ordered the redfish. She wasn't impressed. She drowned it with salt. But, she also likes salt. We sat at the table and showed respect to our server as we complimented, but we knew this place is not for us, speaking solely about the food. On the plus side, the bartender knows what she's doing. Excellent espresso martini, and old fashioned. Child had the kids pizza. It was the best thing on our table. The bread was ok too, and the olive oil they provide has a good mix of basil, oregano, garlic, etc. Sorry, but Italian food has two options in my opinion. 1. Heavy, butter, olive oil, with well Italian seasoned sauces and cheese which all targets that "comfort food" dopamine part of our hearts. Or 2. Fresh, light, sautéed, tangy, subtle, side of bread, enjoy with a nice sparkling wine. Summer time happiness. This place is neither. But, if it's date night, go for it. But, if you are going for food, I'd pass. There's an Olive Garden nearby (which I hate Olive Garden food). And there is Tony and Luigi's 1 minute away, which would put this place to shame. Or order from the kids menu and a drink from the bar. I may try this place again in 6 months to see if anything changes. For now, pass. Oh, and something I ate caused an angry tummy. Went this weekend with my mom to celebrate our December birthdays. The food was excellent and the restaurant was cute, but unfortunately this was overshadowed by the worst service experience we've ever had. After taking our orders we never saw our server again. The amount of time we waited to see him and wave him down was shocking. I eventually had to go to the hostess stand to ask for to go boxes and the check. When he finally brought them out I told him we were no longer interested in our birthday desserts. He told us he was not able to attend to us because he had...and this is a direct quote "a VIP table....the owners of the restaurant". The crazier thing was he said this as if we would shake our heads in agreement and understanding. So I guess the only way to get even basic or subpar service is to buy the restaurant and become a VIP. read more

The entire meal took 3 hours, we were there for 3 hours! Lasagna was dry and had no sauce, the waitress said, "it usually has a pool of sauce." She went to get a bowl of sauce and took about 30 minutes while my mother waited. A different person finally delivered the bowl of sauce and said that "it has to be made especially for each dish," and he said it with a pretentious smirk... They took over an hour before even taking our order. Just be prepared to wait, no lie or exaggeration, from the time we sat down to the time we got the bill it was precisely 3 hours... The pizza was nothing special by any means. Arancini balls were ok, the best thing of the whole meal was the free bread and dipping sauce. Oh, yeah, and my parents ordered cocktails that took 50 minutes to get to our table. My Chicken Saltimbocca was ok, and by "ok" I mean I didn't reject it but I think a 5 year old with a recipe could make a more flavorful meal... most of it did end up in my trash can later that night. Why should I eat out if I can cook better than your professional chefs? The noodles were dry and placed on top of a very thin layer of sauce, I mean, there was like no sauce, this was ridiculous. Is this what we should expect from this restaurant? If so, you won't last long in Georgetown even if you are buzzing right now, you'll end up like the Blue Dolphin. It's gone now. I really want to like Juliet Kitchen. Its location is great, the redecorating they have done is bright and fresh, but they are still missing the mark with their staffing and with their food. They have tried to improve based on feedback provided earlier, but really, how does anyone employed as a waitress not know that wearing strong perfume to work in a restaurant is a no no? Isn't there an experienced adult manager there who can oversee the operation? Their Caesar salad on my first visit was so impressive that I craved it and went again just for that. Unfortunately, it just wasn't as good the second time, and then, of course, there was the waitress with the perfume. The rest of my food was just average. We will probably wait a little before trying it again. Friends say that their other location is excellent. I hope they get their act together soon. read more

My second time to eat here. First time several months ago and again this past Friday evening. I had the Chicken Marsala, and my dinner date had the Chicken Piccata along with two Chopped Ceaser salads. Everything we had was great and the service was good also. We did notice that this server was training a new server that had waited on us several months back by the name of Cowboy. Service was great from the moment the upstairs bartender greeted us. We didn't realize that the balcony seats are assigned by the hostess as you first enter the restaurant, but we decided to ask the bartender anyway, between the bartender and another staff, they kindly accommodated us. They had to walk downstairs and coordinate that with the hostess. You get a lovely view of the square out there. Our waiter was wonderful. You are welcomed in the moment you step through the door. Under new management with a revamped menu. We sat outside on the balcony overlooking the beautiful square. Service was great! Not only was the food wonderful, so was the presentation. The lobster bite appetizer was a full lobster tail cut into bite size pieces in a light crispy breading, skewered and served in the shell. I ordered shrimp scampi which came in a light cream sauce over angel hair pasta, amazing! My husband ordered spaghetti and meatballs and ate every bite! Alex and Chef Phil were absolutely amazing. My wife has some dietary restrictions, the weirdest being an allergy to olive oil. Alex assured us that they could accommodate and would be happy to do so. We started our dining experience with a couple of happy hour appetizers and their house Prosecco wine. We also ordered a couple of specialty drinks. For our entrées, we had their Pasta di Mare, Salmon Ravioli Fresca and Chicken Picatta. We finished our meal with a couple of their wonderful desserts. Brendan was our server and did an outstanding job! We also had a visit from the general manager, Alex, at the end of our meal, which was nice. The dining room is beautifully appointed. I'd like to start off by saying your experience may vary. Georgetown has a competitive food scene as of late due to the great migration. You can go to a local brewery on any night and have a food truck bang out some amazing food. That being said, I'd rather just do that as opposed to eating at this Juliet. The greeters are kind, the reservation process is easy, and the ambiance towards the front of the restaurant is quite romantic. Going just before sunset can provide some really warm lighting inside the restaurant. Prices are mid range depending on if you order drinks or not. Bread is served with a garlic infused olive oil that I believe has grated parmesan in it. The olive oil and calamari were the highlight of my meal. The jalapeno and lemons fried along side the calamari is a nice touch if you enjoy spice. Nothing super special with the cocktails but + points for having local brews. Barking Armadillo is a local favorite, it's nice to see them served in restaurants. Wine selection is average. Aside from the view of the square, I didn't find the interior of this location to be appealing at all. Our table was only half wiped off. The table also wobbled due to the uneven contacts at the base. The couple that was seated next to us experienced the same. Servers carry plastic wedges to fix it but that shouldn't be necessary in a new restaurant. The tables appear as though Gumbo's left them behind. The lights flicker due to a short somewhere towards the middle of the restaurant. The food took a really long time. The Redfish and Chicken wrapped in prosciutto aren't really worth mentioning. The risotto served under the Redfish was soggy and the cream sauce over the pasta dried out. Clearly the food sat for too long. This place simply isn't worth the price at the moment but there's always room for improvement. I'm not taking the service into account since they're new. I would say go for lunch to try it and grab a salad. However, it's not worth chosing over what's already in Georgetown. read more

The newest location of a popular Austin Italian restaurant and bar, this location on the square in Georgetown carries forward its tradition of excellence. We had the calamari and stuffed mushrooms as appetizers and the sausage and cheese ravioli and pasta de mar as entrees. All excellent. The sauce in the seafood was exquisite. The place is working out a few kinks as it is short-handed, but we certainly couldn't fault the food and service by Alyssa. The owner came by our table and asked us how everything was. So seldom seen these days--great to see concern about performance. A new favorite, we love the location in the Arboretum, but this is much closer. Sit upstairs--it is quieter than the ground floor. If you squint you feel as if you're transported back to the 50's minus the model vehicles parked below. The food didn't miss & the price points are unmatched.
