Had the Mexican pie, tasted like chemicals, the fajita beef was sparse at best, the peppers were overwhelming. Would not recommend.

I'm giving them 4 stars but it's really 3.5... Our neighbors come here every 2-3 months and it was the first time for my fiance and I. We live about 5 minutes away but I was never intrigued by this place online or ever heard anything about this restaurant. Margaritas are pretty good here. Food is average. I ordered the fish tacos and they were somewhat boring. Basically fish that is battered with some cabbage on top. There is a sauce that comes with it on the side that gives it some more oomph but not enough for me to want to order it again. One of the neighbors ordered a fajita style quesadilla and it was huge. My fiance had some enchilada dish with a spinach queso - he said it was too heavy. All the plates came piping hot which I really like. The pink neon lighting inside the restaurant threw me off. I felt like it was such a time warp. Service was good, not spectacular. I couldn't tell you the name of the server but she was on top of it. The hot salsa is good so get that instead of the regular one. Or just mix them together to get the spiciness level you want. read more

This is a great spot for afternoon lunch, they are also just starting to serve breakfast we heard as well. We all started with some margaritas, very well made, then while enjoying fresh chips and salsa we got our main courses which everyone said was good. Mine was the chicken taco salad with big chunks of chicken that was more than enough. When we were inquiring with our server if this was a chain he said" no we just bought this" This young man and his wife who was also working were very cordial and could not have been nicer! This is a favourite place. Not all dishes are appealing to me, but the place has character and history. (I do miss Jalopeno's on 35th and northern.) Crispy Shredded tacos have incredible flavour. Very rarely is there a food consistency problem but it can happen. Salsa and Chips complementary. Pollo fondito is packed with cheese so I dont like it. if your a low dairy person you may have to ask light on cheeses where cheese is part of the dish. It can be a place you have to learn how it comes and ask for modification. The Servers always seem like family and have a very professional ethic in maintaining standards and practices. Some of my associates have said they dont like it, but i think being a bit conversational with the wait staff can get you tuned. Food is seasoned well, wet when its meant to be, Green/Red chilli sauces. Fajitas with any protein are usually very good. read more

I walked in here on a Sunday around 7:30pm. It was empty with no sign of staff even cleaning up. A staff guy about early 20s finally walked out to the lobby. I asked him if they were still open and he said they're closed. I told him, in that case, lock the door so I wouldn't waste my time going in and asking. He answered with a tirade full of profanity calling me an MFer among other expletives(he shouted several while I walked out). What would this guy do to your food if you said something he didn't like? I'm glad I didn't find out. I checked the other reviews and there's alot of bad ones. I'd give this place less than 6 months staying in business with employees like this. First time here for lunch yesterday. Haven't been to this side of town for a long, long time. Googled Mex restaurants and found it and decided to stop in. My husband loves his cheese enchiladas and is now a fan! Our meals were great! Staff were super nice and attentive. Sat in the bar area. Served drinks and chips right away. Food served fast and hot. Service was prompt and the chicken Diablo salad I got was pretty tasty. However, something about the texture of the chicken was off putting and slightly rubbery. It didn't taste bad, it just was a texture I'm not a big fan of... Hubby got the fajitas which wasn't sizzling when it came out which is a bummer because who doesn't love the sound of that sizzling piping hot skillet with yumminess? The fajitas tasted good, evidenced by his clean plate :) Otherwise, great service, overall good food and good happy hour prices. We had an enjoyable dinner here on a Friday night. Had to wait a couple of minutes for them to clear a booth, but the restaurant was busy so no bother at all. This was our first time here and I liked the atmosphere.. not what you usually come to find at Mexican restaurants. They have some pink neon lights and some tile, the vibe is more diner than Mexican place but I was into it. Our waiter was super nice and pretty timely. He stopped by first to get our drink orders. Shortly after, someone delivered chips and salsa to the table. Then our waiter came back with our drinks and took our order. Everything came out as ordered too. I like my chips thin and super crispy, so I was a huge fan of their chips. They brought out three different salsa containers and I absolutely loved one of them (I just wish I knew what kind it was lol!!). We went with the pollo diablo, which came with but rice and beans, and a chicken enchilada. We both commented on how the chicken wasn't as dry as some other restaurants in the area, so they won bonus points with us for that. I've had similar dishes to the pollo diablo elsewhere and I liked their version, again most was because the chicken was just right, not too dry, and not too overwhelming. Rice and beans were standard but I liked them. I would definitely recommend this place and will return! Reasonably priced as well. read more

Older male Manager is rude, sarcastic and argumentative. My family and I have been coming here for years. More recently one to two times a week with my father and my kids. We get the same thing every time. Number 5 on the lunch menu, taco with enchilada and two cheese quesadillas. Today there was a small hiccup with the price, the cashier was new and the manager easily fixed it. This is where it all went wrong. The manager began telling me the lunch prices went up. Ok, no problem I can pay $8.49 for my number 5. Then he proceeds to tell me it's impossible that I have ordered it for two years. He states he added it two weeks ago and I'm lying. He did not state this in private, he said this in front of people in the take out line. I told him that wasn't true I have been ordering it and his employee Chris knows my family and knows our order. The manager only seemed to get more upset and continue to say I wasn't telling the truth. The manager was sarcastic, and while walking into the main dining room said "Well you ought to know! I wouldn't know!" The behavior was ridiculous and embarrassing. Having a "bad day" wouldn't even justify this behavior. We were the first customers in the building and several were in the restaurant while this was happening. After all the years it's safe to safe we have no intentions of ever coming back to this establishment to eat. read more

Dinner in this neighborhood restaurant feels like a family place. The The Barton, excellent job greeting taking orders. The owner however, I Soum is the other given his interaction with others, receded to make a large margarita my first pouring a small one dumping it into a large glass, and then adding ice as to top it off. Good thing I ordered a small margarita from the real bartender. All that said, margarita with delicious and the chips and salsa fresh crisp and exceptional-- if you like smokey flavor. .. go for the dark red salsa. The tortilla soup is one of the more flavorful ones in town. With large chunks of chicken, fresh cut vegetables and a wonderful chicken broth it was clearly made a long time ago - in order to meld the flavors. the portion size was more like an appetizer, it was a great way to end the day. maybe the bartender and the manager need to learn to work together better as I don't need anymore drama when I go to dinner. read more

The bartender is extra nice -- he was generous and gave my daughter a complimentary Roy Rogers after our order got mixed up! The portions are HUGE and the food is good, but it's not authentic, traditional Mexican food that blows your ever-lovin' mind. It's Arizona Mexican food -- which I do get cravings for, since I live in Seattle and can't find much of it down here! The plates have big boatloads of guac and sour cream with extra cheese on everything. You will need to go jogging for a week after you eat a meal here. Don't wear your bikini in- because you won't fit in it walking out! I think they probably use generous amounts of full fat to fry their chimichanga in! Good margs! The ambiance is a little cafeteria loud -- I prefer the bar to the restaurant, because it has a warmer more intimate vibe. Overall, it is good. It is worth the sinful price you will pay in calories -- you get a lot of food for the price. We tried this location for the first time last week. It was my wife's birthday and she was hoping for a great Mexican meal. Unfortunately, she was very underwhelmed. This is a tough review because our table was split. Two of us were happy and two were not. The good: The place was clean and service was friendly. Warm chips and salsa hit the table fast. Frozen margaritas were great! Out table had peach, strawberry and raspberry. The Pollo Loco Enchiladas were great. Packed with moist chix and covered in a creamy spinach con queso! Chix Flautas were also a hit! Rice and beans were fresh too! Now The Bad: We were seated quickly but, at 6-630 on Saturday night, the place was half empty - that is a big red flag in my book. The Pork Verde Chili & Pork Verde Chili Chimi were very bland. Both diners said there was little to no heat or flavor. Pork was also not a plentiful as you would expect. I had a taste as well and felt the same way. So, overall I would give this location 2.5 stars since we were a split decision table. However, I since the two diners that were disappointed are Mexican food lovers (& one was celebrating a birthday) I had to give Julio G's only 2 stars. read more

The food is fantastic, the service in the restaurant is good. Ambiance is nice. Now, their takeout service at Julio G Too is horrendous. I was going to call in my order, I was put on hold. I was on hold for 15 minutes, as I was on hold a decided to just drive to the restaurant. When I got there I hung up the phone and went into the takeout side. No other customers were in there. There was a boy at the cash register taking a phone order. I was standing right in front of him. I wasn't mean mugging or looking upset. I was just kind looking around at the decor while standing there. He finally finished taking the order, he turned around and walked into the kitchen and started doing something in there. Did not even acknowledge I was there. So, I turned around and walked out. I spent my money in another establishment. This is the second time I have received this kind of service from their takeout area. I will never even consider going back. Sad and pathetic. read more

This is definitely not authentic Mexican food. The food was ok and your typical domesticated Mexican. The salsa reminded me of a can of tomato sauce with a few pieces of cilantro.
