I called to place an order for pick-up. The person taking the order told me it would be about 10-15 minutes. I wait that amount of time and drive about 4 minutes to their location. I walk in and I don't get acknowledged so I go up to the counter and asked the person "pick-up?' He looked confused then looked at the man behind the register. So, I walk over to him and I say "pick-up?" and he says "wait" all the while he is fooling with a cheap framed picture putting the cardboard back on the back. Once he finishes, he walked behind the register area and over to the counter/prep area, to wash his hands in order to make the order I placed over 20 minutes ago. I complain a bit but then I go to sit down thinking I will eventually receive my order. WRONG! The guy that was originally behind the prep counter brings me only half of my order (shrimp crunch roll add cream cheese w/spicy may on side and a cucumber salad) and I ask "where's the rest of my order?" he seemed confused so I start to bitch because not only did I call the order in over 25 minutes now, but now it's not complete. I asked the guy, "how do you take your orders, do you write them down?" He then comes with a lie and says I was dealing with some health code things that had me backed up." MF, don't lie to me....I then respond, if that was the case, why didn't you say you were busy and backed up at the time you took my order...I could've come at a later time?" Fish is tender and flaky. - half seaweed half cucumber salad (seasoned to perfection, a light and refreshing appetizer). - baked mussels (dressed with tobiko, baked with sriracha mayo). - Rolls: Channel roll, Lemon Drop, Wilson Ave roll. They seem to lean heavily towards a crunchy roll base (shrimp tempura and krab on the inside) then the toppings are where the rolls get individualized. - Yellowtail is nice and fresh here. - Spicy tuna is on the spicier side. The owners of Brothers Mexican Restaurant in Normal Heights have opened Dragon Sushi in the next door suite that used to house an ice cream shop/juice bar. Seating was limited to about two dozen customers. The two-page menu was pretty typical sushi fare with classic rolls, hand rolls, special/specialty rolls, bento boxes, bowls, nigiri, and sashimi as the main categories. A monthly special was offered which on this occasion was a 16-piece roll combo for $20. It was made up of four different types of rolls. There were ten specialty rolls that were priced between $16 and $18 apiece. My two choices were the Angry Roll and Goodnight Roll which were cut into eight pieces. The first was made up of salmon, eel, gobo (burdock root), cucumber, and avocado topped with red snapper, jalapeno, onion, and ponzu sauce. The second consisted of bluefin tuna, gobo, cucumber, and green onion topped with escolar, avocado, sriracha, house alba sauce, onion, and cilantro. My first impression of these two rolls was that a lot of cilantro covered the products to the point it was difficult to distinguish the cut pieces. The Goodnight Roll was a little better because of the zing from the sriracha. I can't really say the fishes were top quality, but they tasted fresh. If you live in this neighborhood and are seeking a quick sushi fix, then Dragon Sushi should fulfill that desire. read more

Ordered pick up for the first time, so my review is based on my to-go order rather than in-person dining. I know some of the sushi experience is lost when an order is to-go. The order was ready quickly, which was great since I was hungry. All the sauces that went on the sushi were provided in little containers so the sushi wouldn't get soggy, and that was great also. You probably already know this, but save yourself some money and call the restaurant direct when ordering pickup. The online ordering companies say they have no service charges for ordering pickup at the restaurant, but they tack on $2-3 to every item. I ordered the following: Spicy Amigo $18/$25 Sexy Dragon $18/$23 Lemon drop $16/$21 The first price listed is what I paid by calling the restaurant, the 2nd price is Grub Hub's price for pickup. My favorite roll of these three was the Lemon Drop, great flavor but it was disappointingly small for $16. I was not a fan of the Sexy Dragon. The krab/scallop mixture on top of the roll was flavorless, and the roll itself didn't add much either. I won't order that one again. The Spicy Amigo was tasty, but nothing special. It was a bit more of a substantial roll, but still a bit overpriced at $18. I'll probably give Dragon Sushi another try, eating in this time, to see if there is any difference. read more

You get 4 crunch, 4 California, 4 rainbow, and 4 spicy tuna pieces. My only complaint is that for the rainbow roll pieces, they were all topped with salmon and didn't have the variety that a traditional rainbow roll has. Right next door is a pretty cool record shop and just a couple blocks away there's Normal Height's hip bars and dives. No sake or beer on the menu, but a good variety of sodas and green tea.
