Service was 10/10 the staff was so professional. Vibes were great. The entrees were 4/5 but the apps were 5/5. I would go back solely for the apps. They were delicious. Sorry not sorry for the half eaten appetizers..tummies ate first on this one.

My friend was visiting from out of town, so we decided to try this place for the first time. It's a Japanese and Italian fusion restaurant, which I've never heard of before. The restaurant was small with a high-end atmosphere and great service. Parking could be tough later in the night, but I was able to find a spot just north of the restaurant on Jefferson street. We had a reservation at 6 p.m. and were immediately seated. Delicious (free!) bread was delivered to our table with a truffle and chive butter along with pesto with olives. I can't tell you how happy I am to see that bread is still free at some places. We enjoyed the Midnight Burrata and Aurora Crudo for appetizers. Both were amazing, but the beautiful presentation and complex flavors of the crudo won me over as my favorite. For entrees, my friend had the Risotto Vegano and loved it. I had the Tagliolino al Mentaiko, which looked simple but had complex flavors with a hint of spice. I also tried a grapefruit sake drink that was like a boozy grapefruit soda, which was good but I was sad that they didn't have cocktails. We finished our meal with a Crème Brûlée which was a great portion and delicious but lacked that signature hard sugar crust. Our bill came to about $125 before tip. Overall this was a great fancy dinner place, and I'm excited to go back and try more things.

ok this place is honestly kind of unreal, one that deserves the hype. michelin star nomination in SLC?!? i have no idea what i'm talking about actually but i do know my mouth was very happy. the truffle butter, crusted sourdough, fried zucchini flowers and gnocchi alla junah were highlights. the velvet booths, ambient lighting and hot tattooed waiters were even brighter highlights

The food was wonderful. Asian fusion IS my thing! The only real complaint I have was the service. Our server was not bad, but sometimes, it took a while to get a hold of her. Also, I asked for more complimentary bread and butter, but she did not bring it out. In addition, she didn't seem too friendly. The food itself was good. Each dish was definitely unique. The tagliolino al mentaiko had a very subtle taste to it, but it was nice and creamy. The matcha tiramisu was soft and had a hint of matcha flavor. I really like the midnight burrata! It came out very hot haha I think it could be a dessert with how sweet it is. The complimentary bread and butter/sauce was nice to have. The butters are made in house. I like how they gave me different kinds of butter, one being truffle flavored. I wanted more bread & butter but was not given any more, even though I specifically asked. Overall, nice vibe. It's very minimally modern. I would consider this place a more upscale dining establishment.

Hmmm, I'm torn...depends on the dish you order, the quality varies quite a lot. We thought the beets salad was the best, would skip the gyoza, the pork was meh, but then the octopus was good. The food theme feels a bit "confused"...like they'd throw a lot of different flavors together and it doesn't feel intentional.

Stopped into Junah for the first time and it is now one of my favorite restaurants in Utah. Our server, Lauren was incredible and helped us navigate a menu with unfamiliar offerings. Our party ordered five different appetizers. We all loved the beet salad and burrata dish. The homemade sourdough and butter were to die for. The glazed mushrooms were good, though I probably wouldn't order again. I thought the arancini flavors were a little strange together so I wouldn't go for that again either. All 4 of the entrees were outstanding and offered novelty with intense depth of flavor. The mentaiko pasta was the table favorite and possibly the best pasta dish I've ever tried. I was also blown away by the pappardelle special. Dessert left a little to be desired. The matcha tiramisu didn't taste anything like tiramisu and reminded me more of matcha tres leches. The crème brûlée was fine but I'll probably skip dessert next time. While not everything was a home run for me flavor wise, there were several standout dishes that blew my mind. This place is exceptional from the food, presentation, service, and ambiance. It's also priced very reasonably. If you want a unique dining experience with a skillfully creative menu and flavors that will punch you in the face, you're going to love Junah.

This place is way too cool for me, but I loved it. Would come back to celebrate or show off SLC's food scene. The food was amazing. If you get there and aren't sure of the menu your server will walk you through what you want to try. We tired a lot of different things and had an amazing culinary experience. See pictures for all the things we loved. Loving this neighborhood that is up and coming. Parking on the street or easily ride your bike on the 9th line.

I cancelled a reservation I have had for weeks to go here instead, and I'm so glad we did. Junah was the best meal I've had in a long time, Italian and Japanese fusion. Uni shooters special, carpaccio di Bue, gnocchi alla aragosta, tagliata di Bosco, Poached pear. The carpaccio was a favorite for sure. Everything was executed amazingly. We can't wait to come back.

i felt this place is quite overhyped online for what it is. $30-$40 a dish for small servings and long waits for food that have you leaving hungrier than when you came in. Hostess wasnt the warmest when we checked in for our reservation. We were seated at the smaller tables that are only a few inches apart so you unfortunately hear everything at the tables next to you, and when people get out around you, you end up with a strangers bottom crossing your face on the way out. Also had the unfortunate experience of having a loud manspreader next to us who tainted our experience as well. Overall i felt like the dishes left some to be desired flavor and portion wise and i dont think ill be returning. My favorite dish was the mussels which is sadly only a for now special.

Pretty fancy spot in salt lake. I saw this place on TikTok and knew I had to check it out, didn't disappoint at all. Servers were so nice, we came pretty early for our reservation but they kept checking in with us. The food was delicious! Who would've thought Italian x Japanese fusion would work so well. Parking in the area can be a challenge so come early and make a reservation so you don't have to wait! A must try if you're ever in the area

First time trying Japanese-Italian fusion and was amazed by the flavors and textures. The place is ntimate and our server Lauren was very helpful and attentive. We had the Midnight Burrata, Glazed Maitake, Tagliono al Mentaiko, and a special dish of the day that had spicy paccheri with Italian sausage. The Midnight Burrata was very enjoyable with the roasted pistachios giving it a unique texture. Be sure to ask for extra bread and a spoon. The Glazed Maitake had oyster mushroom with a glaze made with soy sauce and anise. It was very savory and the garlic potato foam balances the flavor. Wish there was more of the potato foam as the mushroom was very flavorful. Never had Mentaiko sauce before so I didn't expect a sauce can be this light with a slight fish taste. The perilla leaves were very strong so a little less would be better and perhaps a little bit of mushroom and/or sprinkled pepper. The spicy paccheri with Italian sausage had a more familiar flavor profile unlike our other dishes, but it was still very good. Overall our dinner was excellent and we'll be back to try their other dishes.

The place is stunning. The complimentary bread with assorted house butters was the perfect start, we were obsessed with each unique flavor. My first time trying tartar since I normally scare away from it, and they absolutely know what they are doing. The flavor was rich and intense in the best way possible. The star of the show was the pork belly dish for me. Melts in your mouth, I truly will go back for this meal alone. It's moved up to one of my favorite dishes in SLC. Service was amazing as well, so professional.

I went to Junah twice this month (first time ever going), and both times were outstanding! Across these two visits, I enjoyed all of the dishes I have attached to this review. I won't write about all of them since that would be too long, but I highly recommend all of them! One of my personal favorites were the Tagliata di Bosco -- I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms or truffles, but this steak dish was really tasty! The truffle sauce was delicious, and I found myself eating the sauce just with the mushrooms after I finished the steak! I also want to give a shoutout to both of the desserts! The crème brûlée and matcha tiramisu won over members of my party who are not fans of tiramisu and crème brûlée at all! I love Junah's overall take on Japanese-Italian food, it's a really fun combination that I can say is pretty unique here, i can't say I've ever been anywhere like it! Something I really like about Junah, and also want to mention for any potential customers, is that the plates are designed to be small. I like this style because it gives the opportunity to try or split different things from the menu with your party. I came out of each experience feeling like I had a well rounded meal! Both times, the service was excellent. My servers were very nice and attentive, and it made for a great night out! I love the design of the restaurant itself! The lights were nice on the eyes, it felt very intentional and small -- I loved being able to see the kitchen from my tables! It is a very small restaurant though -- so make sure you get your reservations in! Overall, this is a spot I will be coming back to! A great addition to the Central 9th neighborhood :-)

The restaurant clearly aims for an elevated dining experience, and there's a lot to appreciate in the overall presentation and ambiance. That said, the experience landed more in the "good" than "exceptional" category for us. The dining room was noticeably loud, which made conversation a bit challenging at times. While the food was well presented, the pricing felt a little ambitious relative to the overall quality. Several dishes were extremely heavy on the Parmesan Reggiano--to the point that it overpowered some of the intended flavors rather than complementing them. The service team was kind and well-meaning, though some interactions felt slightly awkward rather than naturally polished. Overall, Matteo delivers a solid dining experience with a lively atmosphere, but at this price point, I was hoping for a bit more refinement and balance. Still a worthwhile visit, especially if you enjoy a vibrant Italian dining scene.

Only complaint would be leaving the tails on shrimp - basically have to deconstruct the dish to get them off. This is very common though so not a huge deal. I liked that the entrees come with a house salad to feel like a solid meal. The smokey pineapple cocktail was a little sweet for me but liked that there were some interesting options. They were knowledgeable about the specials, offered appetizer suggestions, promptly cleared empty plates, and ensured all of our needs were met. Unfortunately, the food is where the experience dropped from a 5-star service rating to a 3-star overall rating. The fish was overwhelmed by a heavy tomato sauce that masked the flavor of the fish itself. The gnocchi was overcooked and swimming in sauce, resulting in a disappointing entrée. Then we shared the pasta sampler (which has a much cooler name that I can't recall because I don't speak Italian!). I was never a big fan of gnocchi but it was fantastic, served in a spicier tomato-based sauce. There was a spectacular butternut squash ravioli, spinach ravioli, and a spaghetti with an indescribably delicious cream sauce. Overall, that dish is NOT to be missed. We also had a special entree of beef tenderloin with mushrooms, shaved potatoes, and an oxtail sauce. We shared it because OMG food coma, which was a great call. We finished with the tiramisu *swoon* and the lemon gelato with lemon juice, local Utah honey, and sea salt sprinkles. I'm not a big lemon dessert fan and I wouldn't have normally ordered it (I had the tiramisu). The lemon gelato with honey had such a pleasantly unusual texture. One of my requirements was cocktails, and those looked pretty good from what I saw on Yelp. The menu was intriguing as well. I knew I wanted to try the tuna tartare for sure. I made a reservation for us for 18:30 and we were greeted with a smile and quickly seated. The ambiance was beautiful. I loved the giant tree in the middle of the dining room, and the seats were so chic and comfy. There is a parking garage, so no need to worry about parking either. Our server promptly greeted us and we placed our order for our cocktails and the tuna tartare app. I went with the Truth or Pear (I'm a sucker for anything pear related) and my husband went with the Mezcal old fashioned. Both arrived to our table shortly before the complimentary bread did. That bread was oh so warm and fluffy, and came with the most delightful herb oil to dip in. The cocktails were good, smooth and well-balanced. The tuna tartare was next to arrive, and it was plated wonderfully. I was very excited to dig in. The bread was toasted to perfection, and the tuna was seasoned with the most delightful citrus notes, just as stated in the menu. It was a perfect combination of flavors, and my favorite dish of the evening. The portion was also generous in my opinion, and we definitely savored each bite. As far as our entrees, we both wanted pasta, and the bison rigatoni caught my eye immediately. The spicy rigatoni spoke to my husband as well, so that's what we both ended up ordering. The pasta was quite decadent, especially mine with the ricotta. We noticed a lot of people packing up leftovers, and quite frankly, if we weren't so hungry, we probably would have had leftovers as well. While the sauce was overall good, it was a little monotone. The rigatoni was also a little overcooked. I honestly expected more, especially coming from CA, where I am no stranger to quality pasta dishes hailing from restaurants in Carmel, Half Moon Bay, and similar towns. We left with our bellies full, and the service was great, but I wished our pasta dishes were better, especially for what we paid (which was comparable to what I've paid in CA, mind you). The tuna tartare was most definitely the highlight of our meal. The next time we're in SLC, I'd come back for the tuna tartare, but it looks like I'll need to do a more thorough search for restaurants that serve better pasta.

Our server was quick to apologize, had a fresh entrée prepared right away, and even comped the meal, which was greatly appreciated. The replacement dish came out hot and was much better. I also enjoyed a glass of red wine that paired nicely with dinner, and the complimentary bread was absolutely delightful--fresh, warm, and a great way to start the meal. One of my favorite touches was the beautiful cherry blossom tree in the center of the restaurant. It creates such a unique and inviting atmosphere and really adds to the overall dining experience. While there was a small hiccup with the food temperature, the excellent service and attention to making things right turned it into a positive experience. I would definitely return.

Found Urban Hill on social media and was excited to get a dinner reservation last minute. My…read morepartner and I were visiting from out of town for our anniversary. They asked if we were celebrating anything when making the reservation and we noted the event, not thinking anything of it. Little did we know it was going to be a complete experience! Curated menus saying happy anniversary, dessert and even a Polaroid picture for us to take home. Truly a one of a kind night. The food was incredible also! We started with the potato gnocchi & sticky rolls which were amazing to share and had fantastic flavor. I got the sea bass as an entree and my partner got the chicken - both fantastic choices! The dessert though was incredible. The baked Alaska was another great highlight - they lit the dessert on fire, which was a fun addition. To our surprise we got a celebratory dessert as well which was so yummy. Overall, truly an amazing meal and experience! So grateful to Urban Hill for making our anniversary one we won't forget.

Food was just okay for the price. Service was very slow and we were really quite neglected compared to other tables. Brunch for 4 took over two hours and it was over 30 minutes before someone showed up to take our orders. This is really more of a 2.5 star rating but you know how Yelp is. The food was decent, just not outstanding by any means and the place is beautiful and reasonably comfortable. I feel like this places focuses too hard on pretentious "fine dining" details while completely neglecting the basics. Prompt service and food that tastes good. I will give the disclaimer that this review is now over a year old at the time of posting. I hope that things have improved in that time.
