I got my haircut here, and I told the stylist that I put my hair in a ponytail a lot and want a style that looks good in ponytail, probably long layers. Proceeds to cut off my hair it looks uneven and unblended, and throughout the appointment is extremely negative and makes fun of my hair color and my haircut from before. Jung is great. My hair was in bad shape when I walked into her salon and she let me know. But she was so kind and said, "You have me now," and proceeded to give me the best cut I have had in years. She didn't try to cut too much off and agreed to trim a bit more each time she saw me. Costs: Its on the pricier end but the service is definitely with it. Ambiance: Really cute salon located at the back of a residential home. Very professional, single seat. Professional: She was a professional and had me an my type 3c/4a hair in and out within an hour. I have been a customer of Jung's for over 20 years, and she is the best! I have fine hair and am not someone who spends a lot of time styling, and Jung's cut never requires any extra attention to look fantastic. I have been stopped multiple times by strangers complimenting my hair. Several years ago, it became time to start coloring and she has done an amazing job keeping my hair looking natural and healthy. I tend to wait too long between appointments, and I can get away with it because her cuts and color grow in so beautifully. She is also a wonderful person! i am certainly an OG in the ranks of jung's clientele. :) jung began caring for my hair circa 1999 and it had been the most incredible experience!!! i was simply going to Vidal Sassoon because I had horrendous experiences up and down the east coast...*cue sad violin* and accepted (what I thought would always be) a somewhat mediocre fate with my hair. totally allowed stylists to relax my tresses and was clueless to the ramifications. jung put an end to the relaxers and weaned me off with texturizers until 2002. I was incredulous at the curls that rose from the ashes like rock stars!!! jung is such a skilled clinician, and her work is always superb. my heart sings each time jung cuts and styles my crown of glory!! ...and I left The A in 2002 for grad school in VA. one of the hardest adjustments was not having king nearby. soooo, I have traveled from VA to The A for 20 years because I will not allow anyone else to touch my locks. read more

I was really Misled by the owner . I could not have been more descriptive of what I wanted and included Several pictures of My hair when I loved it! I asked if she was skilled at over directing long layers because that's the only way my hair has bulk taken out and not length ! My current hairdresser was going through a divorce And my hair really needed a cut he wasn't getting the shape ! I almost jumped out of the chair when I saw the angle she was pulling my hair at She literally Had no idea how to over direct layers she just started whacking on it and literally turned my hair into almost. Mullet ! It's Not fixable . I would give Jung 100 stars if I can. She's an amazing hair stylist and also an amazing woman if you gets to know her. I've had Jung since 2015 - so over 4 years till now. It all started with a random search on Google and I found her - I am so glad I did! To be quite honest, although I saw a moderate review saying it's expensive, I have to say the relatively high price point was what drove me to her in the first place. I believe "you get what you pay for" and I was looking for a good haircut (for engagement photos at that time:) Jung did my hair faster than I thought. I have long and a lot of hair and my hair is fine. Usually it takes long to have my cut done. Yet Jung can manage it in about 20mins. I know some people would relate short time to "poor efforts" but it really is not the case. If you are skilled/talented in any area, you just master it and can rock it in the way that others will not achieve even given 10x more time. That is it. I've had many people done my hair in the past and literally no one can ever compare to Jung. A lot of times I want to keep my length but have the volume be thinner. And seriously, Jung can let me just keep my length and I feel my head 3x lighter plus the shape is just fabulous. There was one time I went back to my home country (about 1 month later or so after Jung did my hair) and met with an old friend of mine, she asked me if I had my hair "processed"(e.x. curl, straighten) because it looked so stylish. She couldn't believe I just randomly blow dried/air dried my hair. All in all, Jung is amazing if you are looking for a good hair cut. I've traveled to her in the past three years when I lived in SC. (Yes - 2 hr+ drive just for a haircut - that's how good she is!) It's admittedly not cheap here but seriously it worth it. I have mixed feelings about Jung cutting my hair and here's why: Pros - She does a great job of explaining and teaching some techniques - She's nice and chatty, so time goes by quickly for a hair treatment Cons - Expensive. Before tipping, I had a haircut and a hair treatment and it was $130ish from what I remember - The cut wasn't exactly what I wanted and I feel like I need another haircut after less than a month I grew out my hair for my wedding and got it cut by another stylist back in Feb. However, my thick hair grew out and I felt like the top of my head was flat from so much weight. I hoped that Jung would be able to fix this for me since she did my mother-in-law and her mother's makeup/hair for our wedding. They looked great, so I figured why not give Jung a try. Jung was able to point out to me that the layers were choppy and uneven, so I was glad she could fix it. I showed a picture of what I wanted, but we didn't exactly achieve it. Even though we didn't achieve it, my hair looked great for the first week or two. Bottom line is that we didn't get rid of that heaviness I have that comes with long, thick hair. Although she said that I won't need a haircut for another 3 months, I don't exactly feel the same. The length is ok, but it's still so heavy that I wake up feeling like a shaggy lion with my mane. Ultimately, Jung's ok. That expensive haircut though really discourages me to go back even if it's less frequent. read more

Cannot rave about Jung enough! After searching high & low over Atlanta for a stylist I finally found Jung through yelp. Things I love about her and her work: 1. I have very thick hair and lots of it (I'm South Asian). She is the only person that has been able to style it in such a way that I some days I don't dry it and it still looks great. She is so much different than other stylists that have a cookie-cutter approach. I would pay zero attention to the reviews that say otherwise. I cannot tell you how many people stop me when I'm out and ask for my stylist's name. 2. She is the only stylist that has been able to grow my hair out without it getting stringy looking and looking weighed down. Love it. For whatever reason, my hair looks great when I leave but even better in a few weeks. 3. Definitely the fastest stylist in Buckhead. I'm in and out within 15-20 minutes sometimes. Now I get color sometimes so that makes it a little longer. 4. Very accommodating schedule based on work and things. Sometimes if a cut is not sitting right she'll have me back in a few weeks and fix it up. 5. She is hilarious... I would sorely miss her if she left ATL. read more

If you are accustomed to having your hair cut and styled a very specific way by someone else, stick with that person. Those with ASIAN hair and A LOT of hair, beware! My hair is very thick and mildly wavy. Most hair stylists take at least an hour to cut my hair because of the sheer volume. It's difficult to cut and the stylist that I normally work with usually allocates the time and effort to make my hair look good. As a result, whenever I look for a new hair stylist, I am always very wary and look for someone who is good with "Asian hair." I ended up going to Jung based on the positive reviews here and ended up getting two haircuts from her. The first time, it turned out really well--my husband and I were both very impressed, but one thing that really stuck out was how many times she kept exclaiming how my previous haircut was poorly cut. She also kept pushing products on me--making one hair cut cost over 130 dollars. This was all fine, since my hair can be difficult to deal with and it looked great. The second time did not go so well. Same thing, pushes a lot of products on me, and really self-marketed herself. The haircut looked okay--but what really stuck out, was she cut a whole layer under the top layer really short. The short layer is about a half a foot shorter than the outer layer. This pops out and looks really awkward and bad. My hair stylist from back home says I'll have to wait at least 2 months before I can have my hair fixed. So bottom line, I would not go to Jung as she is someone who takes shortcuts. I know it's hard to cut my hair especially since I have a lot...but it's still not an excuse to take such a blatant shortcut and completely mess-up my hair. And then continue self-complimenting yourself while you do it. It's really not cool. read more

Jung is a miracle worker! I came in with giant, massive clumps of damaged matted, dried, frizzed hair that looked nearly tangled to the point where it cannot be fixed (think of Tangled the movie, but worst.) She detangled my monster hair with multiple wet brushes, combs, and conditioners. She kept checking on me to ensure she was being gentle and ensured me that it will be okay. The proper way to detangle matted, dried clumpy hair is to use a pointed object (scissors or a sharp pen) in order to tackle the root and find the source which she did. After the lengthy detangling process, she thoroughly washed and conditioned it and holy moly, my hair felt nearly normal again and could actually be brushed again! Feeling her run a brush through my hair made me feel euphoric. Her hair knowledge was also informative and gave me ideas to self treat my damaged hair to create a nightly regiment to rebuild the chemical bonds and molecules to bring it back to normal. It's only been two days with an Olaplex hair damage repair treatment and my hair is starting to feel silky and normal again. She is super friendly, sweet, patient, and one heck of a conversationalist, she has so many cool ideas and life experiences we ended talking about Germany, wedding dresses, parents, and a million topics. She made sure my fiancé joined in conversation and ensured that were happy, laughing and comfortable throughout the whole time She treated my hair like it was alive and breathing. I find most stylists rush through the process, but she does the complete opposite, she gives you a memorable experience. read more

We love what Jung can do to our hair. My younger son has very difficult hair to cut properly as he has a head full of cowlicks and Jung is the only person we've ever found who can give him a cut that looks right. If we can't get to her--because we don't live in the United States--he ends up looking like he has a hairpiece that's gone askew. Not a good look for a seven year old. I don't let anyone else do my cut which can be a pain since we currently live in Dubai and I end up getting my hair cut about once a year. Since I have hair that's longer than shoulder length, I can just about get away with it, but until Jung can get to my hair it can get a little rough looking. Jung is awesome with long hair. She works with your head shape and hair type to give you a cut that you can let air dry, and it still looks good! She's highly trained and very knowledgeable. Also extremely nice and professional. The cut is a little pricey but if a good cut lasts you 6 months and a cheaper cut lasts you 3 I think you can justify the price. read more

Ok. I have really really good hair. Like I know that seems braggy, but it's true. It's probably my best physical feature and people compliment me on it because it's very thick and straight and silky. So I'm pretty lazy about it. I just try not to mess with it too much and just get a trim here and there from whomever, BUT! Going through some personal crises, my hair was looking like a hot mess. It was horrible because I went to some FOB stylists and they thinned it out where it was looking shelved and ratty and then I made the super cheap decision to just try and cut it myself, and while I think I did an OK job, my hair was in mayday mode. So, for once I did my research and put some thought into it and decided to try Jung out instead of the cheapo hair salons down the street. I am so happy I did because she is by far the best I've ever had. She listened to what I wanted and did a snip here and a snip there and somehow my head was transformed into a more presentable, attractive shape. What really made me a die hard loyal fan is she mentioned her long term plans for my hair and told me exactly when to come back for a trim, 7 months down the road. That 7 months is about up and while I know I need a trim soon, she really did such a good job and my hair grew out beautifully. As long as I'm able, I'll probably go to her for my hair. Jung is amazing! Hands down the BEST in atl and beyond for ALL hair textures. First of all she is appointment only so when you arrive she is set and ready to go. I get a wash, cut, blow dry and style and I am out the door in 20 mins. I have naturally curly hair n I've spent hours at other salons just for a blow dry on a Saturday so the VIP treatment is definitely a plus plus plus. Jung customizes the cut to your face and head shape. My hair is still long but full, shiny and tapered to my face. It's light and bouncy, without using a lot of heat. She rekindled my relationship with my hair. No more fighting with it or forcing it to behave! :-) love it!!! You will not be disappointed. read more
