For a healthier alternative to american style breakfasts- I usually order their "levanta muertos" smoothie: literally the "dead raiser" because its guarenteed to de-zombify you. Wow. I may have found the spot to return to for a torta. They were very affordable at under $7 and also super generous with the avocado. Produce was fresh and the pickled carrots was a nice touch. Mmmmm... I come here for their BOMB energeticos. What is it, you ask? It's a menage of fresh cut fruit, usually including papaya, banana, apple, pineapple, and watermelon, though they may vary it if there is good fruit in season. The fruit is topped with loads of cottage cheese, honey, raisins, and walnuts. Definitely satisfies my sweet tooth, while @ the same time being a healthier alternative to lunch or dessert! Can't beat that! And the portion is ridiculous... I can only finish about half of it, so I get a two-for-one every time I go, which is perfect for me. I'll be thinking of how delicious my fruit was in the morning and guess what? I get to eat it for lunch again if I wanted to, which I usually do =p The restaurant though, is more known for their licuados (shakes) and tortas. Have yet to try the licuados, but based on other Yelpers, it's definitely on my to-do list. As for the tortas, they are delicious, VERY filling, and full of fresh product. Nothing out of the ordinary considering there are various torta establishments in Oxnard, but the other items on the menu make the trip worth it here. I've also seen, though not tried, the tostada de ceviche. It was a very generous size and my friend ate it all up. Got so full off of it, he didn't even touch his energetico, hahah. Food coma! I used to go there a lot for there great food. It had been a while since I've been there. I asked for a tostada de ceviche but they didn't have the tostadas They wanted me to have crackers. My daughter asked for an al pastor torta and didn't have al pastor meat. I needed to use the restroom and wash my hands but wouldn't let me use the restroom. How can you have a restaurant and not have customers use the restroom? I got two smoobies/juices. The first one I got was a watermelon & pineapple smoobie. This one was for my sweet tooth that needed some H2O from the watermelon and anti-inflammatory properties from the pineapple. My other tooth (cuz I'm from the south and have only 2 teeth- JK!) needed the Vampiro that pretty much looks like a cup-o-blood but is sooo good for u. It has celery, beets and carrots and although was not sweet, I know that this was pure juice and was what I NEEDED. So I went here for my lunch called ahead for pick and it was ready when I got there. The customer service was excellent, I ordered a Torta de queso de Puerco and a Licuado de mango. 1. The torta was good it had a good amount of ham and the ingredients were fresh my only problem was tooooo much lettuce absolutely too much it sort of took away the main ingredient which was the ham! 2. The licuado was delicious very fresh fruit and a good size. I paid 11.33 for the torta and the licuado which was a small size, Overall not that bad will go again for the licuado :) read more

I used to love this place; great food and exceptional service but it has truly done down. The food was okay until I found a hair in it. Totally upset but not rude I went and told the lady and all three ladies behind the counter just looked at it and one tried to throw it away and the other took it and did who knows what to it. She asked if I wanted my money or a new torta and I asked for a new torta. I watched carefully seeing if they would make me a new one and they did. The server came around the counter and placed my torta on the table in a rude manner and didn't bother saying anything. Since we have been here the three ladies have been talking and laughing behind the counter and haven't bothered cleaning anything or the tables. So I used to frequent another torta place that recently closed(and I feel horrible because I only know the place as the torta place and never learned its name) and lamented that shall never again enjoy a torta worth talking about and perhaps, even, become my new torta place(maybe even learn its name this time and maybe Yelp it, because I actually knew its name and finally could Yelp it. Without my former torta place, I was lost. I would visit my usual stops and see torta and sigh, believing no torta can be my new torta...I mean, 20 years of going to the same torta place. I had placed 'torta' as a heightened experience that made any attempt to try new tortas difficult, but I somehow found my way. Jungle Juice was the place my sister recently recommended as she was also looking for a new torta place(she knew the name, then she told me and I already forgot). She said that Jungle Juice was better. Better? No way...I first thought followed by obsessed. There is no way Jungle Juice is better. Sister, you've been going to the same torta place I've been going to for 20 years and now you're telling me there's a better torta place down the street. They don't even have torta in the name! I entered Jungle Juice, not knowing what to think and still dizzy from my sister's proclamation. That scent from grilled cheese sandwiches...that buttery boost from a hot pan...that's what greeted me inside along with a bustling eatery. On their menu board were large pictures of decadently large juices and fruit salads I assumed were enlarged to show texture and detail. After asking about a few menu items I order an asada torta and horchata. She asked if I wanted a large size, almost with caution and I respond, "of course." I confess, when I order an horchata from my former torta place, it was poured from a bottle and so when my torta came out first, I was confused. But the torta... The torta had been iron pressed into a hot panini grill seasoned with a year's worth of butter and the avocados... There was so many avocados I felt bad...guilty that there was a sparse tree somewhere wondering where did all her avocados go... I got the answer...into my belly. There was so much avocados that I couldn't see the bottom bread because of the orchard of avocados on top of the bread. Pickled pepper, onion,carrots and tomatoes completed the package with a savory sweet heat crunchy toasted softness only a torta, a really great torta, can only provide. But as I finished half my torta, they brought my horchata...huzzah! Those enlarged pictures...nope! Those were life sized. My horchata came in a glass goblet that could swallow a softball,easy. Jungle Juice horchata is a blended smoothie dessert that is huge and most likely, for sharing,which I discovered. That didn't stop me from trying to finish and enjoying the frothy creamy cinnamon goodness only experienced here.
