This seems like mostly a bar for college students ... large area, some live music, a pile of random crap in the back of the place that they haven't cleaned up yet, a lot of beer/cider and a cement floor that is easy to mop clean. They even serve drinks in plastic cups. The parking lot is very small. There is a beer garden in the back. When you walk in, there is no hostess and you have to figure it out on your own. Grab any table you want, make your way to the bar, try to get the bartender's attention, order your food and get one of the flashing disc pagers. When it buzzes, go to the pick-up window to get your food. I got what I thought was going to be fish sandwich, but was mistaken as I hadn't read the menu description carefully enough. It turned out to an entire fried fish. Who eats this much fried fish?! It was like the Cheesecake Factory version of fried fish. Furthermore, this thing was so overly fried, there was a very thick shell of fried 'something' surrounding the fish. Now, to be fair, once I chipped away the fried exterior, the fish was pretty good. Had a chance to check out this Schenectady bar. It seems to be a long time local favorite around here. Center Street Pub is a great place for watching a game or anything. Lots of stuff to drink from beers and whatever else. The food is also much better than you would think it would be too. A good pub has lots of beers. It's certainly the case here. There's tons to choose from to be sure. It's about $7 for most pints. There's lots of local ones to choose from, including Frog Alley and wherever. Also there's tons of classic old beer cans to check out. These are up on all the walls. Food is better than expected. There's quite a few surprises. It's about $5 for a cup of the Vegan Chili. This has quite a spice. Good better than average bar. It's nothing fancy but it has a fun atmosphere and there's plenty of room. The food menu is friendly to vegans and vegetarians. read more

Love the venue, worst service experience. Football Sunday, not totally busy. Waited over an hour for a a basic takeout order to not get my order correct. Asked for the manager , he threatened to call the police addressing my complaint. If he's the owner, shame on you. If not, ownership needs an upgrade. Good venue and food only gets you so far. Centre Street is a location I've visited a dozen times over the past handful of years, and each visit increases my fandom for the location. Both the indoor and outdoor dining areas are spacious and comfortable, making it a nice spot for visiting when roaming Schenectady with a group. I've also found myself turning to Centre Street when visitors come to town. The beer (and cider!) selection is always robust; I've never visited and not found a selection for my picky-brew taste buds. A full bar is available for the non-beer drinkers, too. The menu has definitely improved over time, IMHO. (Honestly, I do remember thinking "meh" when I first visited back in my early vistis - but that has clearly changed.) Sandwiches, Burgers, Salads, and Appetizers - I've had some major hits over the years with standouts being a triple P - Pierogies, Poutine (regular or Buffalo Chicken!), and Pizza (made in Centre Street's wood-fired brick oven - a nice location to cozy up near in the winter, if you ask me.) With a outdoor area equiped with outdoor heaters, you can assume that patrons will be enjoying their IPA and Lagers into the fall time. Plenty of space at the bar along with patio tables and portable fireplaces you'll have to invite your friends to enjoy the beers, mix drinks or wine that everyone can enjoy while having some bar food like nachos and poutine. We did order those two and they came out piping hot with a good topping of gravy and cheese along for the poutine and beef asada for the nachos. First off, I love Centre Street, it's going to sound crazy but it's been such an important place in my life! I've been coming here since my first date ( with my now husband) , it's not been over 4 years and I have only ever had one sub par experience. It's my favorite place to get garlic parm wings, pizza is a great choice, staff is friendly, always a great selection of beer. This sandwich was a crispy chicken sandwich, GREAT CRISP! The tart dill pickles are a great flavor addition and the chipotle aioli gives a nice creamy spice. It's by no means a hot/Spicey chicken sandwich but delicious. Whoa. Nobody told me the Centre Street Pub takes craft beer seriously. Well, nobody told me to keep it a secret, so I'm letting the cat out of the bag. Sure, I went there during beer week, but right now they have Mikkeller, Finback, Industrial Arts, SingleCut, and more on their draft lines. Want a can from Lawson's Finest Liquids? No problem. Pipeworks? They've got it. If there's a local drop from Alchemist, you might be able to find a can of that as well. Oh yeah, and you can also buy 32 ounce crowlers of most of their draft beers to go! Which is perfect, especially if you're driving. It's also perfect if you discover a beer in a tasting flight that you absolutely adore. On my visit, I was trying to eat reasonably well and save my calories for beer. So an order of the steak skewers was perfect. Next time I'll know to ask them to skip the sweet drizzle of barbecue sauce. It was fine, just not my thing. Although next time I really want to throw caution to the wind and try those deep fried dough balls, filled with cheese curds, and slathered in buffalo wing sauce. Read that last part again. Seriously, I don't know why I'm not there right now. Plus there's pizza, and I hear good things about the Mozz & Melba. Maybe I can convince the old Third Thursday Tavern Time crew to make time on their calendar for an outing to this Schenectady craft beer bar. Came here with my brother in law from out of state to watch the soccer game. Even though the menu said weekend brunch started at 11, we were told we couldn't order until noon. We saw the cook come in after 12:00pm and didn't get our food until around 12:45. We ordered two kids meals, chicken & waffles, and 2 breakfast burritos that were on the menu. When getting our food, the cook told us that we "didnt order kids meals, cant make burritos, and to take it up with the bartender". The bartender was so nice & apologetic to us and also informed us that she did in fact put them in as kids meals and no one informed her they wouldn't make the burritos. The bartender ended up being super helpful but the cook was rude to our entire party. Even if the food is good, his attitude doesn't make it worth it and makes us not want to ever come back here for food. 3.5 stars with STRICTLY the food service bringing it down. read more

We hosted a rehearsal dinner here on Friday August 18th and everything was wonderful. The food was plentiful, the service was gracious, and the ambiance was wonderful. The attendants who were in their 20s and 30s said it was the best rehearsal dinner they ever attended! I went here tonight with friends for a UYE and had a decent time despite the odd culinary experience. This is behind the train tracks but you don't notice it until the trains are right there. The patio was relaxing and I absolutely loved the jazz band that was playing... but about the food. Right off the bat we were told there were no more pizzas because they had run out of dough. I don't know how you under prep on a Thurs night so that by 7:15 pm you're out. They later told us they had sent the kitchen manager out to get some but had not heard back. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers to share. 2 orders wings, dough babies buffalo style, mozz sticks, perogies and poutine. It was 20-30 mins and our wings came out with the dough babies. The wings were barely warm and the ones I ate were cold. So were the dough babies. We let the waitress know and she was super apologetic. The manager later came over to apologize and offered to comp our table. The poutine came hot as did the rest of the things we ordered after that. The mozz sticks were good but the marinara was thin and was too raw tasting. The perogies were fried nice and crispy but nothing notable beyond that. With not much hope for pizza we ordered more appetizers which took another 20-30 mins. More poutine, med wings and bacon wrapped jalapeños. The wings came out warm but the sauce was not the same buffalo sauce as the previous order but much sweeter. Some thought ketchup or bbq but I tend to think it was chili sauce since they had a Thai chili wing on the menu that we did not order. The jalapeños were good but the cream cheese didn't have that sour bite you would expect. So aside from the bacon they felt a little one dimensional. Some people had hot peppers but the ones I tried weren't that spicy. The poutine was good both times but I wouldn't say outstanding. Some commented that there weren't really cheese curds but just melted mozzarella. I would skip the pricey appetizers and go straight for a drink and dinner item. This place had great atmosphere and if I knew that jazz group was performing again I would definitely like to come back and relax while trying their pizza. read more

Disappointing! I went with a group of 8 and we had a nice table outside on the patio where we were able to hear the talented "Lecco Trio" jazz band for much of the evening (and I don't even like jazz). The food let us down though. We were pretty jazzed ourselves (see what I did there?) about their "Cheese Babies" and their pizza but upon ordering discovered that they didn't have pizza because the kitchen ran out of dough. Huh? Since we were ordering small plates to share, that limited much of the menu and were forced to rely on the other appetizers. The cheese babies were brought out to us cold. Not "ice cold" but room temperature cold. That meant the dough had started to harden, the cheese inside was solidified, and the Buffalo sauce coating we ordered had soaked in and turned it all greasy. Very unappetizing. The first two sets of wings we ordered tasted fine but were also room temperature. Not how wings should be served. Perhaps they were waiting to serve all our food together? The poutine was salty but pretty good. The mozzarella sticks were very good, though the marinara sauce they came with was vile. It reminded me of watered down salsa. Get the melba sauce instead. We made several food orders and each took about 30 minutes from ordering our food to having it arrive. After our miscues with the cold food, the manager was very appologitic and had them removed from our bill. Apparently, the Kitchen Manager was out for an hour and perhaps that led to the decline in quality? Anyway, throughout the rest of the night the staff tried to make it up with free drinks but without food to eat them with beer can only go so far. We ordered more Buffalo wings but they were not Buffalo... I suspect it was their "sweet Thai sauce" because it reminded me of Heinz chili sauce. I thought it tasted like what you would put on a meatloaf. It was neither Thai nor Buffalo though, and again another mistake. At least they were hot from the fryer. Another order of poutine with bacon produced nice hot fries but the bacon didn't contribute much., and it was already very salty. Their stuffed jalapeno peppers ranged from very hot (spice wise) to mild, and we debated the theories behind that. I enjoyed the heat. Though stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon, they didn't have much flavor beyond the taste (and kick) of the jalapenos. All in all, it could have been better. Three stars for the great band, the attentive staff, and the poutine. I am positive we caught them on a bad night (no pizza, cold food, etc.) but there are a lot of great places to eat and I am not sure when I will be back. read more

Let me start off with this is a very popular place for live music and drinks. I came here on a Saturday night around 9:00PM. We had friends come up from Poughkeepsie to visit so we wanted to show them a good time. After their 1st time everrr eating mozzarella sticks WITH Melba sauce they were hooked so I decided to try this spot out. Service: we asked the hostess for a table for 5. We weren't sure we were going to be able to get a table as there were many individuals sitting in the booths and tables just drinking. The waitress kindly asked a couple if they don't mind sitting at the bar since they were only drinking. GREAT service right there, not many people do that. But then the service fell short after our order was taken. We ordered the mango-cider, but after waiting 10-15mins we stopped the waitress to ask for our drinks. Little did we know it was sitting at the corner of the bar the entire time diagonal from us. When we received it, the drinks were room temperature which quickly tasted like pure sugar and not very carbonated. That was a bummer. Food: Apps- tostones which were unfortunately room temperature & mushy. Having a Hispanic background I was excited to see tostones were on the menu but was disappointed. It must've been sitting in the kitchen for a lengthy time. The flavors were great but the sauce I could've done without. We also ordered mozzarella sticks with Melba sauce (raspberry sauce) they were piping hot & just right! The guys ordered sandwiches and they were perfect, fries were also room temperature. Us girls ordered a salad w/ steak and the steak was cooked perfect. Drinks: The mango-cider was served at room temperature so the taste was disappointing. Pollo Borracho was AWESOME and spicy! The Caesar and Greek salad with steak was great! Moss sticks with Melba were perfect! Pros: great atmosphere with great live music. The food has great potential! Cons: the service fell very short which left us with many room temperatured food and drinks The end to our service: it took the girl at least 10-15mins to bring back the check. While waiting I decided to quickly go to the bathroom which is where she was unfortunately chatting with her coworkers. I can imagine how difficult it is to keep focus on your customers when you're all the way in the back of the restaurant away from the visibility of the tables and the band is playing right next to the bathrooms. All were done at the same time. And who forgets to put the cheese on a cheeseburger? It tasted good, but...no, no cheese. If you want to have a conversation, go somewhere else. When we got there, the music was reasonable but then tripled in volume! We asked once to turn it back down, they did but it went way up on the next song. I ran across the Centre Street Public House & Beer Garden on Untappd while looking for craft beer in Schenectady NY. Their brew list appeared heavy with I/IPAs so I headed on over. 26 beers on tap! IPA/IIPA HEAVEN!! My heart skipped a beat or two as I perused the electronic beer board...within the first five minutes I was planning my next visit and adding three beers to my Untappd Wishlist! The Menu is not expansive, but it is fresh, creative and I believe updated almost weekly. I ordered a beef on weck.. hesitantly... Because in all honesty... Anytime I have ordered a beef on weck east of Rochester, NY I have been gravely disappointed...but in this case... I was overcome with beer options giddyness and I jumped right in. WOW: best beef on weck I have ever had...and I don't say that lightly.
