Ambiance: Brand spankin new 2 days ago, brightly lit, Shuffleboard, Pool table, very very long bar, high top tables, low tables, trendy decor, kind of open air trendy atmosphere and a great big giraffe at the door to greet you... Service: Greeted soon after sitting by Ariane who served us with water, menus and tableware. She gave us time to look over the pub food & choices on the menu. We gave her both our drink order and food order. She was sociable and frequently checked in with us to see if we needed anything else. She was a friendly enjoyable person to have wait on us. Food & Drinks: Sangria - very tasty with plenty of fruit, DH ordered beer he liked it :). We shared our 2 orders of Sausage & Peppers $12 and Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders with sauce to dip. $18. The food and drinks were very tasty especially the warmed roll with the sausage. The Chicken tenders could have been cooked maybe a minute or two less but I would order them again the flavor was great. Would have given 4 stars only because of the extra time on the chicken tenders. This would be a fun place to gather with a group, as in the future they plan on having entertainment adding the table games & huge TV's this could be a fun local, neighborhood bar to meet up with friends and family.

    Chopped salad with chickwn

Chopped salad with Balsamic vinaigrette was ok added chicken for $6 which the amount was disappointing at best.

Couldn't wait to try Korner Bar and Grill and did so tonight. The bar was packed and tables were full but there were still free tables. My husband ordered the smash burger with fries and side of gravy, and I had one of the weekly pizza specials, a Mediterranean pizza with roasted red peppers, artichokes, pesto, ricotta. YUM! My husband said the burger was really flavorful. The fries were thick cut, which I usually don't like, but these were smaller chunks and cooked perfectly. The gravy tasted homemade not the jarred stuff. The winner of the night was the pizza. It was just as the menu described, crispy around the edges, airy inside. Delicious! The menu is small but I want to try everything on it! The only complaint was the place was cold. Many people were sitting with their coats on. We will dress in layers next time but we're definitely going back! A great addition to Colonie! Service was on point too!

The Mediterranean pizza I had a little bit of sauce, added very flavorful!

She was overwhelmed, and so were the chef and bartender. The ground beef was dry on my Ultimate Nachos order. Throwing salsa over it did not help much. The cut of beef was definitely not a Prime or Choice, which are juicier; and I could barely taste the alcohol in my Hennessy Colada. The drink was watered down, lacking flavor. The food and drink in this Albany, NY restaurant rivals NYC prices. For example, it costs $16.99 for 10 wings. I sampled one, and it had a sparse amount of Buffalo sauce. Another example: It cost me $18.99 for the Ultimate Nachos with ground beef, and the beef tasted low grade--not prime or choice. We sat outside on Karaoke night. Maybe that is why our orders took so long. Nevertheless, singers had a lot of fun, and listeners gave some good laughs. Our bill automatically included an 18% gratuity, which is fine, but a verbal warning should have been given. Because of the mediocre food and service, JT Maxie's won't be getting my business again.

There was a sign about seating, but no one was available to show me a seat. I made my way over to the bar seating where there are TV screens. Behind the bar seating are some booths. The first thing I experienced was the horrendously loud noise from all the gaming machines. Next, there were very few customers at the bar or using the booths. The customers at the bar were more interested in each other than anything on the screens. The barmaid was at the far end of the bar yukking it up with some guy who probably was her boyfriend and I was ignored. Finally, I went up to someone who worked there and was told something about a basketball game being on and the PPV will start after the game. Total bullsh*t. Another employee got a remote and found the PPV and put it on two screens. The barmaid eventually came over and seemed disturbed that she had to take my order. She soon disappeared again and didn't ask me anything about how I liked the food or whether I wanted a refill (soft drink) until I was about ready to leave. Now it's close to midnight, and the bar area booths got swamped with little kids who just finished with the games. What normal parents bring their little kids to a bar near midnight when they should be in bed sleeping? I was glad the PPV was over and I couldn't leave fast enough.

Their dessert case right in front of the entrance was taunting me.... We were seated and greeted by Sang Jun, who was fantastic. It turns out that we are all Korean, we figured that out at the end of the meal but he was amazing as a server. Never needed to ask for anything, made several recommendations, and we had a really great meal and evening. The menu is giant! Come hungry for sure! I started out with a margarita flight, which was not only beautiful, but delicious. We started out with the ahi tuna nachos, which was delicious and beautiful. Scallions, tuna, fried wonton skins as chips, jalapeños and sauce that made it all worth every calorie. I ignored the jalapeños, but still inhaled the tuna and everything else. Crowd pleaser for sure. My nephew got the salmon special, served with sweet potatoes. I ordered the bang bang shrimp and chicken that came with lo mein. The sauce was a Thai curry base and has veggies and was literally inhale-able. I ate the proteins (cooked perfectly) and some of the noodles, then ended up eating the leftover noodles the next morning. Still just as good cold out of the fridge! My brother got the ramen. They were out of the pork (or it was off the menu) so he went with the beef. That looked so good, bowl was filled to brim with noodles, garnishes, and beef. It was perfect since he wasn't feeling well. My nephew decided halfway thru his salmon dish he wanted a side Caesar salad and Sang Jun brought one tha looked like it was made for the Internet. Well plated and giant portion. We were absolutely stuffed so we had no room for desserts, even though they looked so good in the cooler walking in. We had a nice discussion with SJ about our family trip to Korea last summer, telling him about some of the most embarrassing moments and getting a good laugh. I guess this is a chain, but I hope that I see one again. I'll be ready to have the same exact thing, or try something new- I'm sure it will be amazing. Thanks to the team and Sang Jun for a memorable meal here in Albany!

My major rave about BJ's this trip is the happy hour deals and deals of the week. We were thinking we were going to use a good sit down dinner and we ended up diving into "snacks". We just made it before the end of Happy Hour and we got some spinach artichoke dip and we both ordered personal pizzas. We also took advantage of the $5 wing specials on Wednesday. The spin dip was great but seemed to be missing something. Maybe some spice. The personal pizzas were a bit smaller than we were expecting, but for a $7 special you couldn't go wrong. I had the BJ's classic combo minus olives. It was delicious. The freshest toppings. The wings were a bit disappointing. Maybe because we're from Buffalo... but the dill pickle boneless really didn't have much flavor. The hot honey buffalo didn't seem to show any of those flavors. I almost wonder if they were the wrong flavor. But anyways, cheap deals, great waitress! I'll be back next time I'm passing through. So when I arrived at the Albany airport, I was a little frustrated to discover my CLEAR membership wasn't available there. To make matters more interesting, the line just to reach TSA stretched nearly 45 minutes thanks to the athletes and spectators returning from the Lake Placid Ironman. As I was also feeling a bit nostalgic about leaving Lake George--my Queen--I wandered across from my gate into The Local Pub. And that's where my day completely turned around. Sandra, the bartender and server, was juggling a full bar and several tables, yet somehow made every guest feel genuinely welcome. She is down-to-earth, sincere, personable, kind, and joyful. I overheard her tell another guest that she truly loves what she does, and it couldn't have been more evident in the way she cared for everyone around her. She enthusiastically recommended menu items, honestly sharing what she thought was "the best," and every interaction was authentic rather than rehearsed. In a world where exceptional customer service sometimes feels hard to find, Sandra was a beautiful reminder that hospitality is less about the setting and more about the person. She rescues animals of every genus; from reptiles to felines, canines, birds, mice, and more! She clearly has a nurturing soul and nurtures everyone she encounters. Go, Sandra, go! But because they also serve burgers, I think a comparison to Roy Rogers is more appropriate (minus the fixin's bar I really liked). (Side note: There are no more Roy Rogers in New York State, they're only in Mid-Atlantic states at this point). The restaurant is tiny, with about 5 booths and a few small tables, but when I came in for lunch, it was immaculate. My first meal here was a chicken combo, spicy, with cole slaw. I really like their chicken; their spicy chicken has exactly the right amount of heat and flavor that I want. It's also extra, extra, crispy. I feel sorry for those who have to clean up after anyone who eats in, because there will be lots of batter flakes all over the place. And there's no sporks, it's all plastic forks, knives, and spoons. And now, for the picky stuff: You get a slightly larger amount of cole slaw than at similar restaurants. But the chop is finer, and there's more mayonnaise, so for me, it was too mushy. I probably won't order it again, instead I'll check out other sides. The biscuit was fluffy and less salty than at other places, but it was slightly dry, probably having been under a heat lamp for a while. The combo includes a fountain drink, from a smaller, older-style Coke dispenser for which there are only 6 options, one of them being sweetened iced tea. Unsweetened ice tea was not available as far as I could tell, so if that's true, your only unsweetened option is water, out of the dispenser or bottled. I found it amusing to see, in big letters under the counter, "We cook fresh all day," with about 3 dozen pieces of chicken under heat lamps in the back. Just how often during the day do you cook fresh? The bathroom was clean, but the dispensers were out of soap and paper towels. This is not a good thing for a place serving fried chicken. And it was only about 75 minutes into the day when I was there, I would find it hard to believe it was all used up in 75 minutes. More likely, it was never restocked at the start of the business day. C'mon, you can do better. This is easy to fix. I'll definitely be back if only for the chicken, but I do intend to try the burgers and also the other sides. If those are as good as the chicken, and the beverage and bathroom stuff gets better, I'll add more stars to a revised review for sure.
