Friendly service, quality food, discounts for teachers and first responders et al. We enjoyed wings and pizza. The crust is like a pan pizza- crispy and medium thickness. Fresh ingredients. Decent draft selection and a few NA options even Guinness zero in a can. Would return for sure!

    Antipasto

Once upon a time the only Orchard Tavern was on North Manning Blvd. in Albany proper. Pizzas are square and wings were a birthday treat. Now with OTW, we have another option for pizza and wings and a ton of choices for lunch or dinner. Yes, it's much like the original. Wait staff were personable, parking is more than adequate. Bar was occupied by the day drinkers; no other patrons in the dining area when we arrived. I decided on a healthy choice for lunch instead of deep fried wings or carb laden pizza. (Maybe next time.) I chose the antipasto. While it looks large, it is quite adequate for a quick lunch. Not as big as some pizzeria's but did have the basics of the antipasto salad. Will go back perhaps if I'm in the neighborhood.

I give less if I could that's how bad of an experience I had. They asked if I had ordered on grub hub for someone else or was it for me. The owner was in the back cursing and swear at his staff. They brought me out my pizza and it was wrong. They didn't even fix it. The salads had all the dressing stuffed in on container. I had to ask for my wings, they never even brought me out my wings. The don't serve vegan ranch. Didn't get the .75 cents I paid for it back. They said I had to complain to the app. It's the apps fault. But the pizza was not even right. No extra pepperoni here just half a pie of pepperoni. When I paid for extra. Allergic to dairy but they don't seem to care just mix the dressing in there together it's ok. No help and a joke. Just found that the salad was bad the green salad, slimy cucumbers that turn to mush when you touch them. That went in the trash.

OTW cheese pizza, in takeout container, "about the size of a sheet of paper",

The original Orchard Tavern is a cavernous relic from Albany's warehouse/manufacturing days, lots of rooms for private meetings and pictures of old timers on the walls. Orchard Tavern West couldn't be more different. It's modern and suburban, with naugahyde banquettes and lots of wood accents. The food seems to be the same though. I ordered the cheese pizza, which the server reminded me is an individual portion, "about the size of a sheet of paper" and not cheap at $10 for a cheese. It has a thick puffy crust reminiscent of a french bread pizza, with good sauce and cheese on top. I enjoyed it though would probably order extra crispy next time. Service was quick, about 10 minutes, and the pizza was nice and hot when I received it. I was in here about 1 pm and there was one couple eating lunch and half a dozen day drinkers at the bar. A guy came into the bar while I was there un-masked and he was not challenged but otherwise COVID precautions seemed to be in effect. My server was masked and there was sanitizer on the counter.

Orchard Tavern West (OTW) opened in late 2019 in the former Dorato's space in Star Plaza near the US 20/NY 155 intersection. OTW is the second location for The Orchard Tavern in Albany offering the same menu with appetizers, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, dinner entrees, and salads. The space was nicely redone with the modern dining room with tables (covered with cloth) and full bar area surrounded with high chair seating and flatscreen TVs. There is also a separate room to the right side for parties and functions. I stopped in here briefly to catch a few of the NFL games on the TVs. I sat up at the bar and ordered the Ultimate Nachos, which were served fairly quick in about 5 minutes. The big plate had a pile of warm tortilla chips smothered with that typical orange nacho cheese sauce, bean& meat chili, black olives, bacon, jalapenos, served with mild salsa and sour cream cups on the side. The nachos were nothing very special, messy to eat and salty tasting. However, when I received the check, the Ultimate Nachos were only $4 plus tax, normally $10.99 since I ordered at the bar during an NFL game, when they offer drink specials and special pricing for some of the appetizers. Good timing! The service was very prompt and I got caught up in the updated scores from the ongoing NFL games

We walk into the place and they have a small pizza counter. The bar and restaurant are through the double doors to your left. I don't recall any type of seating at the pizza counter area. I think that's for pickup or if you want to stop in for a couple slices to go. I would imagine they do some slamming slices business during lunch. We walk into the bar area and four people are seated at the bar enjoying their pizzas. We were debating whether to wait to be seated or sit at the bar when the bartender/waitress asked if we were looking to be seated. Yes, we are. She asked if we had reservations. We did not, but she said that was fine. We were seated in the back which was pretty dimly lit. Ambiance. I usually gauge a pie's taste by a plain pie, but I saw they had cupped pepperoni so we had to order a pepperoni pie because I don't know of any other place near us that has cupped pepperoni. We also got the meatballs for an appetizer. For drinks, plain water. Extra water was brought to us in a bottle that was chilled... no ice. Very nice touch. More water that way. The water tasted really clean too. Special mention needs to go to the bartender/waitress who held down the fort all by herself maintaining the bar area and serving out the food to table customers as they were coming out. One group came after us and then another group of six were seated across from us. I don't know about the first group, but the group of six had reservations. We got the meatballs, which come with three as an appetizer. We each took one and my wife asked me, "So, what do you think?" I thought there were really good meatballs. A lot of times they're really dense and the meat tastes weird. These were soft, moist, and very flavorful. We even were eating the sauce out of the bowl afterwards. Really good sauce, full of tomato chunks, not sweet, and not acidy either. It was just perfectly tasty. The group of six with reservations, who got seated AFTER us, got their pizza first. I told my wife that it pays to have reservations. We were cool with that. We know for next time. We got our pie soon afterwards and had to take pictures. It did look really good. The pepperonis were about the size of nickels, perfectly cupped. The crust had the char that I always look for. This looked really promising. We both grabbed a slice, folded it and took a bite of heaven. The bottom crust is thin and crunchy. The sauce and cheese tasted fresh and not plasticky like some cheeses can be. The pepperonis added a nice flavor kick to everything else going on. I then went for the gold. My teeth sank into crust the crunch reverberating throughout my skull. Wow!!! This crust was light, airy, and crunchy. This pie was firing nitro on all cylinders!!! I was so blown away. Even my wife said, "I never saw you enjoy a pizza so much. It was like you were back in NYC." If that isn't an endorsement for Marisa's, I don't know what is. We took half the pie home because I wanted to same some for tomorrow's lunch. We finished the meal with a shared slice of NY Cheesecake. Not as creamy as NJ Diner cheesecake, but definitely hit the marks for a good NY Cheesecake. We left Marisa's with full stomachs and smiles on our faces. We'll be back.

Zero flop the whole way through. Service is a little slow but well worth it. Very classic and old style place that will have you become a loyal customer instantly. 99% takeout spot so make sure that's on your radar. Also, most likely there will be a pretty long wait if you're ordering. They're always insanely busy and can only do so much with limited pizza workers. Be patient! Top top spot!!

There's a large dining room downstairs and one upstairs as well in addition to seating at their bar area. They also have a large outdoor patio. We were seated upstairs and our server greeted us immediately. We started with an order of their garlic knots, which were fantastic. I loved the red sauce too. They offer several different types of pizza: the New Haven Round, thin crust Grandma, Romo's Square and Gluten free. Once you decide on the style you want, you can then choose your own toppings or choose one of their specialty pizza offerings. Since my fiance lived in New Haven, we had to try their New Haven round pizza so we got the Queen Margherita as well as the Johnny Lawrence, which had sausage, cherry peppers, ricotta cheese and hot honey, in their Romo's Square 12 cut style. Both were delicious! Though there's nothing can compare to eating a New Haven pizza in New Haven, Anthony's pie does hit the spot. We thoroughly enjoyed both pizzas and we'll be back to try more things as well as enjoy their outdoor patio in the nice weather!

I wanted to try a representative sampling of their food, so I ordered a chicken parmigiana wedge, a large cheese pizza, and a 2 liter bottle of diet Coke. Out of the three items, the best part of the meal was - the diet Coke. (If you've tried getting Cocla Cola products from Albany restaurants and are a Coke fan, you understand this.) The pizza was pleasant, but decidedly average. The crust was not crisp, though reheating should help with that, which I shall find out with the leftovers. There was more crust than I normally like relative to the cheese, but it wasn't overly unbalanced. It was just a little too much on the crust side. The wedge, in conrast, had so much sauce I could not taste the chciken at all, and had trouble even finding the chicken on the sandwich. When I did, the chicken had minimal flavor. a good chicken parmiagiana should actually let you taste chicken with crisp breading, not soggy breding hidden in enough sauce to cause digestive distress. And yes, I did expereince digestive distress. I might buy their pizza again, but Albany's a decent size city, and there's lots of competition. But I won't be trying the wedge for quite a whle.

The soft opening menu was in effect at the time of this posting, which included a few appetizers, boneless wings, salads, burgers, sandwiches and a kids menu at fair prices. The menu will be expanding and offering more appetizers, street tacos, and pizzas soon. The atmosphere is old school casual with seating up at the bar, table seating and booths, TVs on the walls. I stopped in at The Hedge Bistro for a late lunch and to cool off on a very sunny and humid day. I sat up at the bar and given their soft opening menu. I got an ice quickly ordered the All American Burger ($13 plus tax) with fries. My food was served to me in 12 minutes after ordering. The burger was served open face with tomato slices, crisp lettuce, red onions, blue cheese crumbles (my choice on top of a firm fresh grilled beef burger patty on a soft toasted bun. With an expiration date looming and hours reduced with the end of the golf season, we decided to stop in quick before their 6pm closing tonight. Parking lot was nearly empty, and the restaurant and bar had only a few folks seated, but we were welcomed and told we had plenty of time to sit and have a meal. And what a meal we had! We were offered our choice of seating, and chose a booth to spread out in. As there was hardly anyone there, I figured we weren't taking up valuable seating. My only complaint of the evening was the TVs were a bit loud for the size of the "crowd" there - probably turned up to overcome the boisterous golfers who show up after their rounds. The wife and I ordered the Chile Lime Shrimp street tacos. So, so good! Flavorful, and a surprising amount of spicy heat - we made some faces but couldn't help but continue eating that deliciousness! Topped it off with a tasty Speckled Pig Brewing "Restitution" IPA offering and a Guinness for the wife. I don't even like IPAs typically, but it was excellent. Service was incredibly friendly and attentive. While we waited for our food to come out, we received a surprised visit from "Connor, the emotional support dog". I love animals, so I laughed when he just appeared at the table. His owner, who I assume is the owner who runs the restaurant, wasn't too far behind and apologized for the dog's intrusion on our evening, but since we're animal lovers, it was very welcome. We chatted with the owner and visited with Connor, who was such a calm and sweet dog. When our tacos showed up, the owner excused himself and Connor to let us eat. The woman who greeted us when we first came in also checked with us near the end of our meal to ask how we felt about our meal. We had a wonderful time and both of us expressed how impressed we were with our tacos. A second beer for me, and then our most difficult decision was what to try for dessert. The young lady waiting on us gave us a dizzying array of options, all of which sounded excellent, but we settled on a lemon raspberry cake option. I hope we didn't moan too loudly as we enjoyed it so much. Our experience was so enjoyable. I'm thrilled we have yet another gift certificate to use up here, as we'll be looking forward to our next visit. Unfortunately their hours are limited due to the end of daylight and golf season. More people need to come out and enjoy this gem.
