Scott, Kiitos Double IPA, and ice cold Jager! :)

New ownership and a total remodel and facelift. This place is great. This is one of those times that you hate to leave a 5 star review because you are afraid that if too many people catch on it will be forever full and you won't be able to get in. With that said, if you are lucky enough to come in on a night when Scott is working you will receive top notch service, endless wisdom, a deep well of music and movie knowledge, and maybe a great dad joke or two. Great selection of local beers, Kiitos is my favorite by far. Try the Double IPA!

Looks like I get the privilege of announcing on Yelp this place has gone through a very cute remodel. The inside is swanky new. The entire front face of the building opens as a window / patio entrance giving me the summer time chi vibes. Having this spot across the street from work is such a gem! Pop in sometime.

Not even gonna finish my beer.

A "dive bar", this is not. Pretty upset that it pulled up as such on the intrawebs. It is a well lit hipster bar with too many mustaches, men in tight jeans, and jazz music... when I was expecting closer to a cold, dark, biker bar, playing some Van Halen or Guns N' Roses. Do they serve beer? Yes. Will I be returning? Definitely not. Maybe I put too much faith in the internet to give me what I wanted. Am I to blame? Maybe. Want a well groomed mustached man's view on politics/Instagram/what is going on in the world? Maybe this is for you. Me? Nope.

Stopped in yesterday on my travels around SLC and was definitely entertained! Everyone in there was either hammered or just naturally surly. The question of the day was What is your nickname? which is kinda funny. The beer was cheap and cold and the bartender, Mike, was funny to watch!

Call it a dive bar. Call it a Hole in the Wall. Whatever it is, it has a lot of old school charm, barstools, ice cold beers, cool servers and a lost in time feel. It even has a jar of pickled eggs on the bar counter.

After getting my last beer and finding a seat in the back, the shy bartender somehow found his courage to engage and serve other folks, so I naturally took it personally. The ambiance was nice in that it felt like an authentic brewery, not a restaurant that serves beer like some establishments closer to downtown. On a Tuesday, tacosdaddyfoodtruckslc was on the scene serving a brilliant smothered burrito, albeit a bit heavy on rice but still amazing. When I asked a bartender to compare and contrasts two beers, they did so lifelessly and unconvincingly without asking me first what I preferred. It reinforced my perception that the establishment is either low on customer service or selective in the welcoming of guests. I was the oldest person in the brewery at the time and I hope that had nothing to do with it. I was also concerned with their lack of descriptions on their brews, only presenting a name on a wall. A serious and reputable brewer will attempt to communicate their beer to aficionados and this lack of information made me question their commitment to the craft. These are all management issues and given that these deficiencies were outwardly obvious, it makes me wonder what other issues I would find with a little more time here. That said, I was here once and that's enough. Edit: I read the rest of the reviews and I am so happy to learn that their bad customer service, including ignoring customers, is legendary. I got suckered in by the high rating, while failing to read the one- and two-star reviews. I went to another brewery in the area yesterday and am off to have another there (cutting my time here short). I wish this place were better.

I had high hopes for locally brewed beer and Asian cuisine, but nothing really hit the mark. Beer was okay. Lukewarm, and decidedly not crispy nor refreshing. Our group was three and we tried a lot of the food on the menu and nothing really hit. The pickled cucumbers were good. The dumplings (which we were told by our server are handmade) were genuinely flavorless and the wrapper was way too thick and chewy. We tried the pork buns as well, same issue, a serious lack of flavor and seasoning. Pork belly entree was middling, just a flavor profile that didn't work. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was fried crispy but the sauce and toppings were unmemorable and lacked any kind of punch or umami to speak of. It came with a side of food service fries, which were crispy but served with plain old ketchup. Oh by the way everything is expensive. Starters were $15+ and most entrees, including noodle soups were $20+ which is crazy. Cocktails were $18 and no wine pour less than $16. The only thing cheap is the beer which makes sense because it was mediocre at best. Server brought the check, said "no rush" and then we waited while he sat three tables, brought drinks for three tables and took two food orders. After 15 minutes I took the bill to the till and had him run it in front of me. I still tipped because I'm not that person. Not going back, there's better beer and Asian food elsewhere.

The host was great, very friendly very personable. We original wanted to sit outside because it was a nice day but they didn't have any shade. So we sat inside. Our waitress was intentive at first. I don't like that they won't bring cold ice water. I have to go get my own water that's lukewarm. It Was very warm in there probably 80° or hotter. They had no air flow in there no air conditioning. The door to the outside seating was wide open. We were sweating and very uncomfortable. Our waitress took our drink order then came back and we told her what appetizer we wanted to start with, before we could tell her what entree we wanted she took off. We just thought okay I guess she's in a hurry so we'll just tell her our order when she comes back with the appetizer. 5 minutes later she shows up with the appetizer but then doesn't take our food order and just leaves. Then she never came back. I thought she'd at least come back to check on our drinks or see how our appetizer was tasting but no. 30 minutes later after we finished our appetizer and definitely needed another drink by then. We decided to just leave. We wanted to try a couple of different beers and get 1 Pizza each. Not a very good waitress. Plus I was already sweating to death so I couldn't wait to get out of there. Who doesn't turn on their air conditioning when it's over 80° outside?
