I love Beer Bar. Not sure why all the hate. I've been going for years and always have a great time and BarX next door is great for cocktails. Both share a door inside. The place has a large choice of beers as well and surrounded by TVs for watching games. I do think their food gets overlooked. Their burgers and brats have always been tasty along with their fresh cut fries, with a choice of a variety of dipping sauces. Especially good and they go great with any beer. I've never had a real issue with service besides they just get busy so you might have to wait. Well worth checking out. read more

Beer Bar was packed to the brim last Friday night. It's a high volume bar meant for groups and beer enthusiasts. Having said that, they boast a full bar, cocktail menu, outdoor patio, and a food menu with brats, burgers and fries. Lots of TV's playing popular sporting events. I was able to catch the tail end of the MLB playoffs. Anywho, the place was popping. Get in line and pick your poison. They had a draft list that sounded good, but then once I discovered their can and bottle list I was completely overwhelmed. In a good way, of course. Since I was stuffed from my dinner down the street, food wasn't on the docket. I chose two different local SLC beers and I was content with my choices. One from Proper Brewing, the other from T.F. It was interesting in the sense of the different types of people here. I truly love how eclectic the crowd was the by far the most diverse I've seen here in SLC since I've been here for the past 2 weeks. Thank god. Next we went next door to Bar X. The look of this place was cool as it was a mix of lounge and old western motif. The drinks were solid, the music was on (a mix of disco, trance and some pop). We came on a weekday afternoon, it was very empty. We heard this place was owned by Ty Burrell (who we love) and had to come try it. We got the andouille sausage with saurkraut, and a large fries with curry ketchup, fry sauce, and roasted jalapeno. We were pleasantly surprised by how good all 3 sauces were. You could def taste both the curry and the ketchup, and I think that one was my favorite. So unique and cool. The andouille sausage was really good too. I wasn't a fan of the saurkraut on it, but I liked the sausage itself. I liked the Beer Bar a lot, the staff was super nice and I liked the little finger soccer game they had on the table. I asked for a small and she charged me for a large. She said it was too late and my "drunk friends would thank me for that." I asked another server to help me get my money back but he responded with "now I have to deal with all this s***?" I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by the lack of customer service and respect for paying customers.
