I looked up quite few junk removal services, and going by what their websites said, & customer reviews, I selected Junk King of Boston. Which turned out to be a great choice. I'll list the things that caused me to like them and their service so much. 1. responded very quickly 2. was able to give a very accurate time for when people would come - instead of being asked to be available all day 3. gave updates on where people were (e.g...they will be there in 10 minutes) 4. clearly explained, very very reasonable charges. 5. the gentlemen who came to remove the items were very kind. They had to get large awkward items up a difficult staircase and through a tight door. They figured out how to handle all the problems they encountered. 6. they offered to clear up any debris or dirt (I said "no" - they had other appointments, & didn't want to waste their time, but it was nice of them to offer.) 7. when they gave a time for an appointment, they were always totally prompt. 8. sent an invoice via email after the job was done - which is helpful for keeping records. They asked for feedback on how they had done..showing they don't just take their payment and run. Then they wrote back to say they had read it, and thanking me for taking the time. Based on my experience I would recommend them highly. I highly recommend Junk King to anyone looking to remove old home furnishings and other heavy items. The explanation of how the estimates are done was easy to understand and its appreciable that they actually need to show up and see it in person towards giving you the true estimated cost. In my instance I found the estimate to be almost exact to what I was told on the day they showed up. I had two great guys from Junk King arrive that day--Clevis and Ray. They were respectful with my things and very personable and enjoyable. They made a potentially stressful situation of home upheaval definitely less so. Junk King called me before my two hour window--I just happened to already be at home--but had I not been able to get there ahead of time, they would have accommodated the original time block without issue. Additionally, I made my appointment two days before the date I needed and they were able to fit it in. I think it is important to ask how big your regional Junk King office is, and when it is a high volume moving time (like May/June/August when college kids make the exodus for example) when considering how much lead time you should give for your own appointment. As I understand it Boston is a big location for Junk King and may be slightly easier to arrange a last minute appointment. i will definitely use Junk King's services again. read more

After retrieving quotes from several local businesses to remove a large dresser, a queen mattress, and a box spring, Junk King seemed to be the cheapest option so I booked an appointment with them. The scheduling process was quick and easy. During the day of the pick up, they called me to see if I was able to move up my appointment time since they had a cancellation. The earlier pick up time actually worked better for me as it freed up the rest of my day. When they arrived, the movers saw that I had three items versus one. It turns out that the service rep had mistakenly quoted me the minimum fee, instead of the fee for three items. I did not have to insert myself into the conversation- after the movers had two phone calls to their manager, they ended up honoring thee quote they had given me. Afterwards, the removal itself and payment via credit call took less than five minutes. The scheduling and removal process was extremely easy with Junk King so I would definitely use them again. I have never felt compelled to leave a review for any company, but I am writing this to warn anyone who is contemplating using their service. I cannot go into detail, but what I can say is that the owner, Tom Indge, is the most unprofessional, narcissistic, passive aggressive and ignorant business owner I have ever spoken with. He has no respect for his customers, LOVES to argue. Do not give this man your money. There are better junk companies out there who will treat you like a human being and happily provide their service. Tom, you must be a miserable human being and a menace to the people around you. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I booked a rental for a dumpster two weeks in advance, and had taken the day off work. I received confirmation via email of my reservation, and they made sure to call immediately to get my credit card number. When I called the day of the scheduled visit, I was told that my reservation had been cancelled because they "did not have drivers to drop off dumpsters". I was provided absolutely no notice of the cancellation. Completely unprofessional to not advise of the cancellation. read more

The Junk King franchise location that came was out of Fitchburg, MA. Got an appointment when I needed it on a weekend. Truck was there on time (actually early). Got a fifteen minute window call. Living in Boston there is no alternatives to haul away items you want to throw away that is not able to be done during regular 'trash' days. When I cleaned out my house a few years ago, I used another junk removal service; they were pretty much the opposite of Junk King. I wish I had used Junk King then. I was finishing up staging the house for sale, and the Bagster driver refused to pick up the bags from my driveway. :( Junk King dispatched for the next morning and sent really diligent guys who took everything and cleaned up after themselves.
