Anything spicy and I'm here for it, so with "Jerk" in the name I'm game! The shop is small extremely clean and put together with the Jerk grill parked right out front. A couple of seats to accommodate those who couldn't stand to wait, but mostly a pick up and go establishment. I picked up some food from here the night before the storm. Ordered a large plate ($11) of Jerk chicken, rice & pea and veggies. The large was with the expectation of left over food for the following snow day. This large didn't stretch like other Caribbean spots, where I can get 2/3 servings. The chicken was most and juicy and the skin had some good crisp/char, very flavorful with some heat and spice but not enough to meet my expectations. I was expecting a punch, a slap in the face with the power of the heat, not so much. The rice & pea were lite & fluffy and not dry which was great. I could taste the flavors of the coconut milk. The veggies were standard, raw cabbage, nothing wrong with that. The woman serving the food was very pleasant and friendly gave me extra Jerk sauce on the side (glad I had the foresight to ask). Well, I finally fixed that and stopped in this week and ordered the Jerk Pork and Jerk Chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. I should preface this review by mentioning I am a Jerk connoisseur. I have no patience for a place that sells Jerk anything by just cooking the meat and pouring wet sauce on it. That is not authentic Jerk. That said, Jus' Jerk is not that place. The jerk pork was charred perfectly with just the right amount of singe on the fat. A smokey, spicy taste. The Jerk chicken was moist, (even the white meat) and falling off the bone. That's something a lot of places don't get right. I topped off my order with the homemade hot sauce. I was warned that of the three homemade sauces on the counter, I picked the hottest. No problem. It is located off exit 10 on the Hutchinson River Parkway, in a commercial neighborhood with plenty of metered street parking around it. The shop is small and clean, definitely a takeout joint (although they do have tables), and as you walk in, the smell of jerk and good food greets you. The menu is simple and easy to order from. I got a large jerk chicken meal and a large jerk pork meal, both of which came with rice and peas and vegetable. They ask you what sort of jerk sauce you want on it, mild or hot. The day I went, the owner was there, making sure things moved along well and he was pleasant and we talked for a few min. The staff was efficient and friendly, making sure I got my order and was on my way in two or three minutes. And most importantly, when I got home, my wife declared both a jerk pork and jerk chicken were out of this world. The large portions in both jerk meals ensures there will be enough food for two or three meals. Probably one of the best store front Jerk chicken places in the area. The Jerk chicken and pork are all done on a real grill and you can taste the smoke. The Jerk chicken is not dry(moist) and full of flavor. They offer both a mild and spicy option when it comes to the sauce. Friendly staff. Very accommodating. The Bedford Gourmet and I were a little concerned - it was late lunch and the place was empty. But there were good aromas in the air and it was spotless, so in we went. I suggested that we share curry goat (as a meal with rice and peas and cabbage) and an order of jerk chcken. He wanted jerk pork as well, so that was ordered, together with two ginger beers from the cooler. $32 for a huge lunch for two. FIrst up, tender delicious curry goat meal, over a large helping of rice, a nice pile of smothered cabbage on the side. Then the jerk chicken, tender, but a little dry and mildly seasoned. A few minutes later, the fatty, moist, tender pork is up. The sauce we were offered tasted a bit like barbecue sauce with habanero (sorry, Scotch bonnet) added. We couldn't substitute festivals, so we accepted the bread on the side. This tuned out to be two slices of dense, possibly homemade white bread that were surprisingly good - but as toast the next day - didn't need them with the meal. While we were there, a few takeout customers came and went - but we had the small seating area - about ten seats to ourselves. Amazing jerk! I was looking for a place to order a platter of wings or baked chicken for an event I was heading to on November 26 and I came across Jus Jerk. I reached out via email but by the time they got back to me, I had already found another place to order from. I bookmarked it and decided to stop by to see if it was good for future events. When I arrived I was greeted by a young woman who said she remembered my email and that they wanted me to try the chicken on the house because they stood by their product and knew that I would be back.. I thanked them and said that if it was good I would definitely use them for my next event. So I took a few pieces of chicken to go and took a bite as soon as I got to my car and... OMG it was mouth watering! Fast forward to today January 28. I kept my promise and reached out to them for a few platters for an event I hosted. My food was ready on time; the price was great; they remembered me from November; they were super friendly and all of my guests raved about it. I will definitely be back. My only word of advice is that you should have a little patience. What they do well is jerk so if you are looking for world class service or a super responsive email exchange, you are at the wrong place. I can say that there are certain memories I will always remember--one of them is the delicious Jamaican home-cooking of my ex's grandma. I had the pleasure of getting to know an amazing family when I was much younger. They were fond of calling me their own Mr. Chin (if you're Jamaican you know what this means) and I was treated to true Caribbean flavor goodness. So when it comes to Jamaican cuisine I always end up comparing it to Mama's cooking and Jus Jerk does it just like how Mama did it. The food in this humble restaurant is for lack of a better word delicious. The flavor is all there. You can tell that they take their time cooking and cook it the way they would at home. I ordered their medium jerk chicken meal, which is certainly good enough for two people, and a side of festival for good measure. The meat from the chicken fell right off the bone with the spices perfectly seasoning the delicious offering to a degree that dare I say was finger-lickin good. The festival was airy and delightful with a nice crunch for some textural balance. The place is more of a take-out with some seating available, and parking is only on the street, but no matter what you do I know an order from this place will not disappoint. This is my new spot for jerk. Not many make jerk pork and this place delivers on tender flavorful pork. The sauce is great but the meat is good all by itself. Can say this place is the place to go for real jerk. I fully recommend this place. Also the people are really friendly. I don't feel rush nor did they treat me like an inconvenience.
