Anything spicy and I'm here for it, so with "Jerk" in the name I'm game! The shop is small extremely clean and put together with the Jerk grill parked right out front. A couple of seats to accommodate those who couldn't stand to wait, but mostly a pick up and go establishment. I picked up some food from here the night before the storm. Ordered a large plate ($11) of Jerk chicken, rice & pea and veggies. The large was with the expectation of left over food for the following snow day. This large didn't stretch like other Caribbean spots, where I can get 2/3 servings. The chicken was most and juicy and the skin had some good crisp/char, very flavorful with some heat and spice but not enough to meet my expectations. I was expecting a punch, a slap in the face with the power of the heat, not so much. The rice & pea were lite & fluffy and not dry which was great. I could taste the flavors of the coconut milk. The veggies were standard, raw cabbage, nothing wrong with that. The woman serving the food was very pleasant and friendly gave me extra Jerk sauce on the side (glad I had the foresight to ask). When in the area I would stop by again but for me I wouldn't do a large meal again not necessary, I can do w/o the carbs anyway. I would stick to the namesake and get Jus Jerk!

My wife looked across the small table at me and had that look on her face, that look that basically said, "don't you think you should slow down eating your meal, maybe come up for air?" She was right, I plowed right into my medium sized jerk chicken plate, with rice covered in their secret gravy. Oh my, how delightful. It was spicy, but it was just right. They know they didn't have to overpower the dish with heat, and yet, there it was like subtle messages buried within Picasso's paintings. The flavors were genius. If you're feeling superhuman, then by all means, order the large dish but trust me, a medium is plenty. Every bite took me back to the Caribbean, I could just about feel those warm 82F breezes across my face. But, the view of the auto body shop across the street quickly brought me back to this unassuming, modest family restaurant. So forget the views out the window, keep a steady eye on your food, have the ginger beer soda (yes, it's from Jamaica too) and finish everything off with a generous slice of their hummingbird cake (all homemade with pineapple and coconut, and definitely no nasty chemical aftertaste). Wait, hummingbird cake isn't your style? Fine. Then finish off with their rum cake. Now pardon me as I get back to my food. And do yourself a favor, explore this place, savor their food, then sit back and ponder how you can have this meal in the Caribbean (probably the only other place where you can get something this good).

Excellent Jerk! I had passed by Jus' Jerk several times meaning to stop in but for one reason or another, not had the chance to. Well, I finally fixed that and stopped in this week and ordered the Jerk Pork and Jerk Chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. I should preface this review by mentioning I am a Jerk connoisseur. I have no patience for a place that sells Jerk anything by just cooking the meat and pouring wet sauce on it. That is not authentic Jerk. That said, Jus' Jerk is not that place. The jerk pork was charred perfectly with just the right amount of singe on the fat. A smokey, spicy taste. The Jerk chicken was moist, (even the white meat) and falling off the bone. That's something a lot of places don't get right. I topped off my order with the homemade hot sauce. I was warned that of the three homemade sauces on the counter, I picked the hottest. No problem. If you're in or near Mount Vernon and looking for excellent Jerk, definitely check out Jus' Jerk. I found my new spot for sure.

This is my new spot for jerk. Not many make jerk pork and this place delivers on tender flavorful pork. The sauce is great but the meat is good all by itself. Can say this place is the place to go for real jerk. I fully recommend this place. Also the people are really friendly. I don't feel rush nor did they treat me like an inconvenience. In fact my first time there I called and even though they were closed they still waited for me to come get some food. That is great customer service. I will definitely be back. read more

Great Jamaican food. Really good. Jerk pork and jerk chicken with no rice or sides is a great way to go with a large order of curry goat. This is perfect for 3 hungry people. And curry goat was as good and flavorful as you'll find anywhere. We'll be back soon. read more

So this restaurant claims that they sell festival and let me tell you it is a lie. I went there on two different day and they didn't have festival. It is clear on the menu. Festival is clearly listed as a side just like rice and peas and white rice, so is it never available to customers. I requested to speak to the manager or someone in charge and no one knew who to direct me to. At the end of the day the supposedly manager said festival is not sold on Wednesday. And clearly it isn't served on a Saturday either. I have a word of advice to the restaurantI IF IT IS NEVER ON THE SHELVES OR IN THE KITCHEN DON'T PUT IT ON THE MENU. Horrible service and standard American jerk chicken and pork. read more

I found the restaurant average. Went on a Friday evening hoping to get Jerk chicken/pork & festivals. They had no festivals & didn't know when more would've been ready. I ended up only getting half pound of the jerk pork which tasted good flavor wise however it was cold. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was disappointed to say the least. Wouldn't drive from the Bronx again but if I'm in the area & wanted food I might buy from them. read more

Awesome, awesome. This portions are plentiful. I got a large jerk pork platter with rice and peas and veggies. It is a shareable size and is filling. I also purchased two smaller dishes of jerk chicken and re and peas for my family members which was just as yummy. Try a mango carrot juice to wash down any spice too heavy for your palate. I will return. read more

As someone from the Caribbean who loves Jerk, I have to say that this place is a hidden gem. There's no question that it's a bit of the beaten path, but I recently ordered delivery to Fleetwood this time and not only did I get my order in 15 minutes, but the food was EXCELLENT as usual. It's tough to find a restaurant in this area that consistently makes good jerk pork/chicken, but Jus Jerk never fails and that's why I'll keep coming back. BTW....I've been a user of Yelp for quite some time, but never reviewed a spot. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to rave about this place. read more

I have to apologize. I came here two weeks ago, was blown away but the blissful food coma has just warn off. There is better jerk chicken but you better be willing to fly to Jamaica for it. I ordered from Jus Jerk via UberEats. The delivery was as promised and in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the large Curry Chicken Meal (with white rice) and the large Jerk Chicken Meal (with peas and rice). The curry chicken was a bit on the salty side and was just ok in taste. I was not impressed. The real problem I had with this dish is that there was no curry sauce at all. It was pretty much just curried chicken and white rice. As a Caribbean girl myself, I know this is a no go! There should be enough curry sauce to make the rice tasty. I was disappointed. Now, the jerk chicken was very good! I enjoyed that dish very much. It was spiced just right and was juicy. I would definitely order the jerk chicken again! read more

On my quest to finding a good "jerk" chicken spot in the north Bronx to lower Westchester, I came across this place. Chicken was nicely charred and seasoned nicely but it was missing something. I also liked the option of pouring my own sauce on the food. And for $4 for quarter chicken cant beat that. Othet places will charge $5 $6 or even $7 for chicken only. I think I may have found my new "jerk" spot or say my #1 jerk place. read more

My parents and I have been on a search for good Jerk chicken ever since our favorite hole-in-the-wall spot in the Bronx closed down like 15 years ago. We have HIGH standards for jerk chicken and we've tried what feels like everywhere. This place really came through for us. The jerk chicken was tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned --and tasted like Jerk!!! (You'd be amazed at how many Jerk chicken spots we've eaten at where it just tasted like bbq chicken.) The portion sizes were wonderful. My only gripe is that as Trinidadians, we like more gravy on our food and I felt as though we needed more gravy on our rice and peas that came with the chicken. But otherwise, we will definitely be back here (especially since it's literally like down the street from our house!) read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star. I ordered half a pound of jerk pork and festival. The festival was COLD...they have it sitting out in a pan.... that jerk pork which literally came from the back was cold as ever... I'm disgusted and disappointed that I wasted $10 on crappy food....Jerk was pork was pink and slimy...It didn't even taste like jerk pork...ughhhhh read more

I tried the jerk pork maybe too weeks ago. It was very delicious. It tasted very authentic. I believe they do it on the drum grill. It tasted smoked and I saw a drum grill in on the sidewalk in front of the store. Will definitely try more of their food. read more

Not to mention, the jerk chicken was well seasoned with spices that im use to having jerk chicken in jamaica with! I have lived in Mount Vernon for about two years and had heard of Jus Jerk but did not experience the neighborhood takeout establishment. So far I have had the jerk chicken dinner and jerk pork. Both are very good as well as the side dishes. I am looking forward to trying the oxtail dinner. Just drove from New Rochelle to try this jerk and I was not disappointed. Ordered a large jerk chicken meal which was a very large portion of meat, rice and peas, and fresh vegetables. The jerk is one of the best I've had and that includes many in the Bronx and lower Westchester. Perfectly seasoned, smoked, and moist. Lots of care went into that meal! A little out of the way but I'll certainly go back. If only they would open another spot in New Rochelle! read more

The food is satisfying if you want some real caribbean food. The Jerk Chicken is great and the staff is friendly. Good place for Take Out or Pick Up. The location is a neighborhood place, but has the potential to be so much more. Would eat here again. Try it out if you are in the area and looking for some flavorful spicy food. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to try out this spot. It's one of the best jerk spots in the neighborhood and the staff is very friendly. I tried the jerk chicken and jerk pork and it was grilled not baked, the seasoning was good it wasnt just about spice, it was about flavor. Hope it keeps consistent. BEST JERK in New York. We were in the area and had some takeout. The chicken has a nice grilled char on outside, juicy on the inside. But my favorite was the jerk pork was definitely juicy and succulent. AND the jerk sauce was so good I wanted to buy some (they gave us some for free!!!). Not a 5 star rating because this restaurant offers only simple menu choices, Jerk Chicken & Jerk Pork. They do have some sides. Would go back when we're in the mood for good Jamaican Jerk. read more

So I was so very disappointed when after Covid they continued with the only pick up service. The food quality is enough to continue yes but the vibe dining in and at the bar I truly miss. My daughters fell in love with this place because every time we walked into that dinning room there was a particular servers who KNEW US. They knew us enough to know my daughters had a favorite table (the 1st we sat at dinning there). They know us to know that my daughters had special distinction drink mocktails (one of the reasons the fell in love wit this place) that they could order even when it was no longer in the menu. This was one of those places we frequented....even if they couldn't get their special table or waiter, the quality never disappointed. During Covid we order delivery regularly because we didn't realize how much this spot because our Caribbean food must have. I can't say we ever really had tried a different meal from over favorable ones that made us say this is one thing they don't get right to us. And the rum punches and Bob Marley drinks they served during their dinning days is what got me to the pin t I had to start stopping in this joint just to have a drink and appetizers. This really used to be by spot back when they had dine in services. Over the years it's in our delivery/pickup Bronx favorite list unfortunately. I say unfortunately because now that we are back at full operational living. I har to slash the delivery/pickup weekly rituals to only situations of desperation not necessity. So this spot has only become a craving order delivery/pickup order spot. Not a I got some/gonna make some time to go enjoy a drink and some Caribbean food spot destination. Which this was my #1 default choice before Covid as I said this used to be my spot. I would take my daughters here damn there biweekly if not be there weekly myself on dates and when hanging out . Cause they people there were serious enough about customer service they would acknowledge knowing who you are and treat you as such. Hence again why my daughters loved this place as kids. *Looks right and left* a yoo when yall opening the dinning in area again cause it's been log enough now...FIX IT! lol

The jerk chicken lovers in my life can't get enough. My recommended dishes are the whiting (fried) with rice and peas, rasta pasta and now the lobster (which I didn't know they had). The seafood is made to order, fresh and super tasty. I never thought sweet chili and lobster would be a good combo but it totally rocks! It was truly delectable. My only issue is that they charge for gravy if the dish isn't saucy (as if) lol but I get it!

The servers are unnecessarily rude, purposely ignoring customers even when you're patiently waiting to order. What they fail to realize is that the Bronx has over 300+ restaurants that actually value their customers and are eager to serve them. Their attitudes are ugly, unpleasant, and downright unprofessional. As someone who genuinely tries to support small Black Caribbean businesses, the disrespect here is not worth it. I paid $32 for one meal, and the rudeness made me instantly regret spending my money. I will never return to give them another opportunity to be mean-spirited toward me for absolutely no reason. What more can you ask for? The oxtails were seasoned very well if I may say so myself. The steamed vegetables were so tasty . The rice and peas were also tasty. The chicken had a bone, and as I ate, it fell apart, which told me it was overfried. Next, I tried the Chicken with Lo Mein, and the noodles were overcooked and lacked flavor. The chicken was good and tasted like baked chicken. It had good flavor, but it wasn't out of this world. My daughter had the Jerk Chicken Sliders, and she said they were okay. She said she tasted the Jerk flavor, but the chicken lacked flavor. I'm not sure if they were having an off day, but if I'm in the area, I would give them another tryout.

Passed by the place several times and never gave it a thought. One day on my lunch break I decided to stop by and give it a chance. I got the Jerk chicken and a soup. The soup was AMAZING!! (i may be partial as I am obsessed with soup but picky) Nonetheless the Jerk Chicken was so moist and spiced right. I usually get mild sauce to add some lovely flavor, that it is not lacking by the way. Soup: Different soups daily is what sold me and they ALL are delicious. As a matter of fact I am having some right now! On to the food: I have had there stew and curry chicken =D Makes my tummy smile. The rice and peas is always tender and I love the fresh veggie mix they give you. Service: Unlike many of the Jamaican/Caribbean restaurants around lower Westchester and the Bronx, the gentleman behind the counter is super nice and always wears a big smile. There is a lady who I see there sometimes, she is just as friendly. Always trying to sell me something else though lol Overall: I have sent all of my family there and they all LOVE what they offer as well. My mother loves there Jerk Pork and that is saying something since she is known for her own Jerk Pork recipe. ADD OXTAIL TO THE LIST OF MENU ITEMS and I would never want for another restaurant again. I was in the neighborhood on business and decided to give Jus Jerk a try. Boy was I glad I did. The food is authentic Jamaican. The jerk chicken dish I had was freshly prepared while I waited.
