"There's something magical about rooftops. You feel like you're in 'Mary Poppins."…read moreGeorge Clarke There really is something special about being on a rooftop on a perfect summer evening, and it's great to have it right in downtown Sugar Hill. I would like to say I planned the perfect date, but as some of the best things in life, this was just an impromptu visit to cap off an already great evening. Outside of being on the rooftop, the bar itself is upscale yet approachable, service was fast and friendly. Being a bit of a self engrandized home bartender I'm a bit critical when out of my home lab, but their Smoked Old Fashioned wasn't bad. ("Wasn't bad" really means very good.") While I don't love the prices and hate paying a cover charge, when you throw in live music, a great vibe, and a view, I can't really complain. The owner made an announcement that whoever tipped the band $10 would get a free drink, and since most drinks were over $15 I thought that was cool on many levels. Will definitely be back to The Rooftop!

We walked around and finally ran into a waitress who told us to sit anywhere we wished inside or outside. The only area festive was inside a closed igloo and no heaters were on outdoors which was just a tad too cool for me despite the super nice weather that day. It would have been so to sit outside but without the warmth of the heaters we headed inside. We placed our order and explained we were just there for a pre-dinner drink and wanted to check out the venue so we didn't leave our tab open but we were quickly served the fabulous taking drinks on their menu(s). The Old Fashioned was on the regular menu and the Russian was on their seasonal tabletop menu. Server was very nice and took photos for some ladies we met. The only reason I can't give them a 5 star is they claim they are big on hospitality but yet we were not acknowledged upon arrival. Many restaurants and even some retail stores have a way to ensure they say hello/welcome immediately when you enter and without a hostess - the mindset should be that the bar or wait staff have a way to immediately say hello or welcome so those who have never been feel welcomed as well as those who frequently come. It would be nice to have a more festive decor for the holidays but that didn't affect my review; just a statement to say that the entire Sugar Hill area was pumping and themed with the holiday spirit then we walked in the only area decorated was not even accessible nor was it offered as an option to enjoy.

Depending on where you sit, you may be very close to other people, but that is pretty typical for comedy clubs. Food quality was as expected for a comedy club. Drinks were really good and strong. The waitress was nice and came to check on us often, which we appreciated. Obviously the comedy quality will vary based on the performer, but we saw Imari Martin, who was fantastic. The opening act was great well. Overall, we had a really fun time, and we will be back. It's great to have a comedy club option in the suburbs.

I have come two more times since the last review. The first time we came to see Godfrey (sold-out…read moreshow). We were very disappointed to see how they sit random strangers with you. The table is already tiny. There's barely room for two people, so having two additional strangers sit with you and try to share a table is awkward. They need square tables with more space. I had to keep my wristlet in between my legs all night because there was no room for it on the table and one of the drinks got spilled because there's no room for four people to have food and drinks on that tiny table. Whoever the bartender was that evening also forgot to put any alcohol in the drinks cause they were just straight cranberry juice. & a waste of $! We came again last night for the Guy Torry show and the bartender was much better. The drinks were strong & great! The mystic magic cocktail was great! The place wasn't as crowded so we didn't have random strangers sitting with us. Both times Jace was our server and he was excellent. We tried the pretzel bites. They're decent but to charge five dollars for a side of queso is insane, given that their menu is very limited. The loaded fries were just ok. This is a great place when it's not a sold-out show. If it's a sold-out show make sure you bring a party of four or you're going to be with strangers unless you pay extra for the VIP and you're in the very front row where it's only two per table. Everyone working here is very friendly

I am truly so glad I got to experience this festive masterpiece. From the moment the curtain went up, the production was pure holiday magic! The set, the dazzling lights, and the powerful live band were incredible. Major kudos to all the unseen heroes behind the scenes--the stagehands, lighting designers, and choreographers. Every single detail was so meticulously crafted and flawlessly executed! The Cast and the Heart But the cast... wow! I've never witnessed such a large ensemble be so flawlessly in sync with each other. As someone with a background in theatre, I was actively counting beats as each performer hit their mark--it was a true masterclass in ensemble precision! What truly touched my heart was the moment the ensemble chose to honor our vets--the genuine respect and beautiful fashion in which they did it was unlike anything I have ever seen on stage! It's a moment of profound gratitude and connection. Behind the Scenes Dedication Even during intermission, the spirit of excellence continued! Every usher and server handled the busy crowds heading to the snack bar and bathrooms with such pride and professionalism. It's truly wonderful to see a team execute their jobs with such care. A special note: while this is Ann-Carol Pence's last time performing, she remains an intricate and cherished part of the company and isn't going anywhere! Her legacy shines brightly throughout the show. I had the most incredible, heartwarming night out! A huge thank you to @auroratheatre for the gracious invite. We were running behind due to work schedule but got there in time for just one of the opening acts and this guy was local and FUNNNNNEEEEEEE. If anyone can give me his name in comments please do. Headliner Carl Payne did GOODT. His cadence was good, jokes well laid out, relatable and funny. We got to sit front stage with the gracious owner of the club. That was very nice! I told my granddaughter we were going to get heckled for coming in late but gratefully- a guy on the other end of the room was the target of the comediennes jokes! #whew. Happy to dodge that bullet. My granddaughter liked her food and drink. It was dimly lit so no pics of food and a flash would have DEFINITELY put a target on our heads lol. The club has a large lobby area that unfortunately we didn't get to check it out because of our tardiness. It's seemed cool. Large artwork of comedians lined the walls and a step and repeat for picture ops. Our seating was a comfortable four top. Our waitress was so very sweet in pretty challenging logistics to be a server. I was happy to have ample cash in hand to tip her generously. Even though The club was packed, The let out was easy. We had a great time and look forward to more great times at Atlanta Comedy Theater.
