So my first experience here was rather stressful.... I was in the city temporarily for work and just looking for a quick, simple salad for lunch. Unfortunately within the loop, the lunch "rush" is a bit ridiculous and you can spend the majority of your lunch break standing in line waiting for food. I lucked out and saw there was a small line for Just Salad... I was new to the concept, but right away you can see it's just a quick assembly line (Chipotle Style) where you can customize your salad or pick from a number of pre-set options on their menu. Once I talked to the nice person at the front of the line, I got a ticket and then proceeded "into the funnel" and gave my ticket to see my salad assembled. You can customize the pre-set salads as well... just need to tell them. Once your salad base is set, you are sent down the line where your name will be called to one of 4 chopping stations where the salad will be finished. They will ask you if you want bread, how much dressing you want mixed in, and if you want your salad chopped. Your salad then goes into a plastic container and you proceed down to the register to check out. When this place does get busy, it feels like the employees are yelling at you, but I think they are just trying to keep the line moving. Looks like they have plastic washable containers you can buy for them if you frequent this place a lot and want to save the environment from all the extra packaging. Overall, I've returned as a "veteran" but this is a place to get a fast, affordable salad for lunch in the loop. The dining space is modern... nice art on the wall that promotes green farming, fresh food, and clean eating. read more

The best Just Salad location in the loop and an amazing healthy lunch option. I come here two to three times a week and highly recommend hitting up their rotating seasonal menu. They always put together new fresh and crisp salad recipes in the summer, and transition to more belly-warming rice and veggie bowls in the fall/winter. There's something for any dietary preference or restriction (gluten free, low carb, meatless, you name it) and the reusable bowls are a big plus. Just pay $1 for a bowl and you get free avocado forever. FOREVER! Highly recommend it. Have to end with a shout out to Esmerelda, who is always so kind to new and repeat customers alike. 3.5 -- this is a review specifically on the smoothies... Just salad offers 5 smoothies. They are all under 400 calories each, which sounds awesome until you read what is inside each. For me, sometimes im hungry but not hungry enough for a full blown meal, and usually a good hearty smoothie can satisfy that, however I dont think that is the case with the smoothies here at Just Salad. The smoothies pretty much all only include fruits, no veggies whatsoever. Not even spinach or kale?! And to add spinach or kale, it cost additional, making the smoothies $7.75!! Majority of the smoothie is ice, roughly 1.5 cups of ice!! Its not filling and so watered down. The fruits are all measured to a half scoop of everything. Unfortunately I don't think its worth it whatsoever. Id also like to add, ive purchased three smoothies here, all hoping it would change my mind but, all three times ive been disappointed. Sigh. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh!!! I've checked out many places in the loop looking for a good salad and this is by far my favorite place! They have such a good selection of proteins and additional mix in ingredients. Great selection of salad dressings as well.......I love the miso vinaigrette it is so good. I could eat here every day. I usually make up my own salad but a co-worker got the pre selected Buffalo Chicken salad and I tried that, it was yummy. I just cant get over how fresh everything is. I'm currently sitting in California really upset that I'm not sitting in Chicago because there is no Just Salad near my house here. When we were in Chicago, we were staying just around the corner from Just Salad and found it on Yelp while we were looking for a healthy option. We had NO idea how popular Just Salad was in the area. We understood very quickly how delicious it was and came back two days in a tow because it was so tasty. I tried the Thai Chicken Crunch salad one day and the Buffalo Chicken salad the next. Both were amazing. I was also impressed with how much food was included in each salad! I got the full salad the first day, and the pick two the second day so I could also try some soup. The food was amazing, the service was SO fast (almost overwhelmingly so), and this location was clean and so convenient. Just Salad will always have a special place in my heart because oh my gosh was it such a delight! read more

I've stopped here before a class a couple of times and I am a fan of Just Salad! You can build your own, or pick from a bunch of the menu ones, I have only done the latter the couple of times I've been there. I've had the chipotle cowboy and the Tokyo supergreens. The chipotle cowboy was decent, I have had better but I think it was because there wasn't enough dressing. My own fault though because they literally put the dressing on and you say "when" and they stop. I did get adequate dressing on my Tokyo supergreens and that was excellent. It had grilled chicken, carrot edamame slaw, avocado broccoli, almonds, furikake seasoning and of course the super greens. I really like how you can have them chop it up for you, such a convenient idea so there's no need for extra knives or silverware, you can just dig right in and save yourself the trouble of cutting and tossing the salad. Portion sizes are huge, but the price is also high, most of the full size salads are over $10 after tax. I can't complain though because the food has been really tasty, healthy, fresh and filling. Everyone in there is super nice. I will be a regular here for sure! read more

Just Salad is my go-to lunch place. You cannot go wrong with the Chipotle Cowboy salad. ITS SO GOOD. I usually switch up the dressings and get it, although there are a lot of other options that also do not disappoint. Staff is friendly and welcoming. They just added mason jars with succulents in each table -- super cute. Im fortunate to have JS nearby, where eating healthy is both affordable and delicious (which is why I go a little too much!). This is a review of the food only, as we did delivery through Door Dash. I ordered the Autumn Caesar Wrap, which is a play on traditional Caesar by adding pears and dried cranberries, and it was delicious! The ingredients were well mixed in (a pet peeve of mine with wraps is when it's unbalanced and you get one bit of all lettuce and the next of all chicken, etc.), and they put ample dressing on, almost too much. Price was reasonable too, especially considering it was a pretty good-sized wrap and was more filling than I expected. The delivery took quite a while, we got a notification it was on its way and it still took a good half hour despite being only a few blocks from my apartment, but that's Door Dash's issue and not theirs, so I won't ding them for it. I plan to go check them out in person soon to try something else since they had so many good-looking options. read more

I was told my next order would be in the plastic bowl, as what I was getting was a "warm bowl," I guess just used for cold salads. Super convenient place that lets you go crazy with salad, or let's you stick to a well-constructed menu. I've only been here once but for the amount of salad you get, this place beats out all of your local health food store trying to serve you kids portions for gourmet prices. My favorite thing is that if you buy a re-usable bowl, you get $1 off your salad which is amazing because it promotes green consumption, and makes it super convenient to carry back home without fear of getting broken or damaged. I work around the area and Just Salad is a good place for a light lunch. I've tried several of their salads and the seasonal ones seem to be my favorite at most times. You can always build your own, but I recommend choosing a menu option as it can be cheaper. The service here is always great and the staff is extremely friendly. Jacquia did an amazing job with my order. I ordered the Sweet Valley however asked for several substitutes and she made sure I got exactly what I wanted. Very professional and efficient. I placed an online order. I ordered the TOKYO SUPERGREENS SALAD and the order was totally screwed up. The manager tossed out the original salad in the container! Such a waste of food! So he started to make another but it was the wrong salad, and yup into the trash! So he made the third one, third time is supposed to be the charm, well nope not in this case. He added cheese, even though I said no Cheese! I just took the salad and ate some of it, but there was (allergy to dairy) so much cheese I couldn't eat it. At this point I learned two things. 1. I got the BYO with lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, jalapeños, guac, carrots and a little bit of chickpeas. I chose olive oil & avocado dressing. Pretty basic ingredients but the salad was soooo yummy! I've been coming here for about two years now and they have been fairly consistent. Besides the wrong dressing being put on my salad one time, I've always had a positive experience. Pros: Salad's are always fresh, they use good ingredients, and they don't skimp and give you large portions. I love that they are eco-friendly, so you can buy a reusable bowl for a dollar. Not only that, that bowl gets you two extra ingredients, avocado, or an egg at no charge every time you use the bowl. I appreciate that they give students discounts now too. I am also a part of their LevelUp program, so I earn points for a free salad! Con: Prices have gone up a bit since I started going there, approximately $1 for their salads. Maybe this is more of a frustration that its so expensive to eat healthy. In comparison to their competitors, they are a great deal. For example, they have avocado toasts, bowls, and wraps. The place is nice and clean with a modern feel. It's fast casual. It's inviting and has a rustic vibe to it. They have places as centerpieces on their table. I wasn't super hungry when I stopped in, so I got something light and it was still a lot. I ended up taking half of it home. Horrible service. We order salads constantly for lunch at work and there is not any utensils given. Also, I ordered a $16 Caesar salad and they did not put any dressings on the salad even though it was marked heavy dressing with lemon. No lemon sent. I called customer service who just stated that they would tell the staff. You can't call the store and because you ordered through Grubhub, you have to fight with them for your order corrected. HOW HARD IS IT FOR PEOPLE TO READ A RECEIPT AND PUT ON SALAD DRESSING. The Buffalo Chicken salad is my world and Butana is the gatekeeper. I come to this location at least 3 times a week and each time Butana welcomes me so warmly it's like meeting up with a friend :) She gives great customer service, as does pretty much everyone that works there. Don't be intimidated if there's a long line, it really does move fast. Less than 5 minutes to get your order started even if it's to the door. This honestly is a great lunch option. After posting the review, someone from Just Salad sent me a somewhat generic response and a coupon for $15. I decided to go to the 120 West Adams branch which is like being in a third world country, barbaric and unorganized. And naturally, the salad was not made as I wanted it but decided to keep it and redeem the coupon. They refused to redeem the coupon and were so rude. When I just decided to just pay for it, I told them I would add this to my Yelp review. They just laughed. So to those reading this review, note JUST SALAD does not care for Yelps reviews and will just continue running a rude, unprofessional and who knows, unhealthy establishment until the ripple effect takes place. read more
