First time having pumpkin soup and it was delicious. Salad was filling. I recommend and I will return.

"Just need a little brain salad surgery Well I got to cure this insecurity" (Dr. John) The Just Salad in West Hartford is just the chain's third location in Connecticut. They operate similar to the "Subway style" assembly line you're so familiar with -you slide down the ordering counter and either have the counter folks assemble a salad bowl of your own design, or you select one of their twelve pre-defined salad combinations or six warm bowls or three wraps. We picked up two of their established salads "to go" and had them for dinner at home. The first was a Balsamic Chicken Avocado ($13.29 and 360 calories w/o dressing) with Romaine, Oven Roasted Chicken, Hass Avocado, Cage-Free Egg, Sliced Grape Tomatoes, and Roasted Corn. The second was Buffalo Chicken ($12.99 and 410 calories w/o dressing) with Romaine, Shredded Cabbage, Braised Chicken Thigh, Tillamook White Cheddar, Crispy Onions, Sliced Cucumbers, and Sliced Carrots. We had our dressings on the side, and both came with a piece of very fresh focaccia bread. The young ladies who took our order and rang us up were extremely helpful and personable. Our salads were very good- generous sized bowls with decent portions of chicken. The pricing is reasonable and so are the nutritionals for much of their menu, which also has soups and smoothies. One very nice green feature they offer is a reusable bowl program. If you purchase one of their bowls, it's yours to keep forever and ever. So, when you go back the next time and take your reusable bowl with you, they'll toss a free topping into your order.

    Bowl size - Edamame Crunch

We ordered a warm bowl and wrap via the website for pickup. The edamame crunch bowl was cheaper to customize than making my own with similar style so I did that. Peanut sauce is yummy, as were the roasted cauliflower and sweet potato (swapped mushrooms for sweet potato). This warm bowl option is better than the warm bowl options at Chopt. The thai chicken crunch can be done in a wrap once you click on the salad... it's not listed as a wrap otherwise. It was also very good. Portions were a litttttle small. The salad bowl is almost a plate. We will be back!

Just Salad is a pretty new addition to Bishop's Corner. I stopped by for lunch this afternoon. The inside had some colorful wall art, that's personalized to West Hartford. There were both, Westmoor Park and Elizabeth Park represented on the wall art. There was a long line of people waiting to place orders, which gave me a chance to study the menu. I changed my mind a few times, but finally settled on the Earth Bowl. Contradictory to what the name suggests, they offer more than just salads. They also have wraps, warm bowls, soups, and smoothies. You can customize the wrap, bowl or salad. The Earth Bowl features, arugula, kale, quinoa, roasted beets, roasted sweet potatoes, apple, almonds, and roasted chicken. Once I had arrived at the counter to place my order I could see all of the fresh ingredients. Once everything was in the bowl, then the mixing began. This mixing process was so thoroughly done, if it were me, half would end up on the floor. The server asked how much dressing I'd like. I said medium. For drinks they had some canned probiotic options, as well as self serve. I cannot remember what the flavor was, it might have been watermelon. This was very refreshing, but pretty sugary. It would be appreciated if they could offer some less sugary drink options. As far as my salad, it was excellent. It was very well proportioned. Most importantly every single ingredient was super fresh! The apple and the almonds offered a good crunchy balance amongst all the greens. I would for sure return here again!

We were so excited when we found out a Just Salad location was opening nearby! This was our first time visiting a location and thought the salads were delicious. They had a lot of great choices, and we're curious to come back and try more! Delicious balsamic avocado chicken and Thai chicken crunch salads. It was bright and inviting inside! Loved the reusable bowls and will definitely bring back with me next time for a free topping! Everyone behind the counter was friendly and welcoming.

Opening week and they have a big promotion for $5 bowls. I checked it out and got a harvest bowl for lunch. It was beautifully placed on a plate and was sooooo goood that I went back and decided to order a bowl for dinner. Then I came back for lunch the next day and got cilantro lime chicken. Yummy. Every thing tastes fresh and salads are crunchy. The ingredients are super healthy and varied. I love love this place. It's like healthy bowls at the right price. It's located at bishops place near the Staples.

As soon as I walk-in, I am greeted with a beautiful smile and a friendly host! I also got the waffle fries and Mac and cheese with this order okay a Strawberry milkshake that looks very appetizing! The chicken is peppery and crunchy. The waffle fries are also well seasoned. I can't wait to try the Mac and cheese when I get home! They have an assortment of sauces with varying heat. The hostess at the front desk seemed visibly annoyed when we checked in. She was impatient, dismissive with her gestures, and even rolled her eyes in front of us. I don't know if it was because we were a family with children or for some other reason, but it made us feel very unwelcome. Honestly, we were close to leaving. Our kids were hungry and tired, so we decided to stay and give the restaurant a chance. Thankfully, the gentleman who served our table completely changed the experience. He was friendly, professional, and patient. He took the time to explain the menu, answer our questions, and recommend some of the restaurant's popular dishes. His attitude made us feel welcomed and appreciated as guests. The food was very good. We enjoyed the seafood paella, grilled octopus, broccolini, cheese plate, and several other tapas. The flavors were great, and the dishes were well prepared. The kitchen and our server delivered a much better experience than the one we received at the front desk. Management should pay attention to how guests are greeted because first impressions matter. The hostess nearly convinced us to leave. The server convinced us to stay.

Within 5 minutes the first entrée arrives, 10 minutes before the drinks. One person has food; everyone else watches uncomfortably. Finally drinks arrive. Then the wait begins. Like the opening scene from "Casablanca" - "they wait, .... and wait,...and wait." Dishes arrive, one at a time, sporadically. They say the dishes arrive when they are ready. So here's an idea: organize the kitchen so that the food for a table is all ready at the same time. You know, like restaurants do. Maybe it works if everything is " for the table." Speaking of the tables: a table for four is too wide by 6 to 10 inches. Your dining companions are so far away that you cannot hear them - unless you shout, which may explain why the place is so loud you can't hear anyone at your table. To add to the raucous ambiance, our table was situated in front of the doors the wait staff used to access the outdoor dining. By "in front of," I mean maybe a foot or 14" from the back of the chairs to the door. Close enough that the waiters are squeezing between your chairs and the doors. All in all, a mediocre experience. To be fair, the food is very good, which is why it gets 3 stars. Except for the crispy calamari which was probably good when it was hot.

There were 6 other people at the bar, a couple in the corner & a table if 6 behind me. The manager came out to talk to the couple in the corner about their experience, which is not a great sign, but we'll see. He saw that I was writing a review & never went back in the kitchen after that, unless it was for a brief moment. He involved himself in pouring drinks & barely left my side. He made small talk & I learned that he had been open for 4 years. It was difficult for me to eat, take pictures of the food or write the review with his constant engaging presence. He was pleasant & made sure to pick up the bartenders slack. For instance, a coaster under the drinks, offering me a glass, or putting down a placemats under the food or supplying silverware, none of which she did. I ordered a Modelo, but when she grabbed it out of the cooler, i saw that it was Especial not Negra, so i asked do you have the dark? She said no & w/ out hesitation opened it, not giving me a chance to ask for something different. Not a big deal, but she seemed indifferent & with no affect. None of this is a deal breaker, just an observation. The food, that was a deal breaker. I ordered the (smoked BBQ sandwich) & opted for the brisket. It came with a side & I chose onion rings. They were pre-salted, almost too much, but they were good. No complaints there. The sandwich however was impossible to eat. The meat was very tough & stringy. It was impossible to tear, bite or cut. The roll was soft, untoasted & soggy, causing it to fall apart making a mess. I gave up, turning to fork & knife to cut what resembled a tangled bunch of hair in both in taste & texture. There was something on the meat, but it was more of a marinade than BBQ as we know it. The same goes for the cheese. I did not see any caramelized onions, but there were two jalapeños. The owner asked how the meal was & I said eh. He said only ok? so I elaborated. He said he would relay the information to the kitchen & I thanked him. After that he never came back into the dining area until after I had left. I do feel bad writing this review because he was so overly involved in my experience & he was a nice gentleman that I would like to succeed, but I do not think I would want to return there after my experience with that sandwich, especially for the price. The meal alone was bad enough. Maybe a change in staff would help, unless they were related. I felt bad writing this review because the owner made it a point to be overly engaging with me once he saw that i was writing a review, but the better way to handle things is to make sure that you guest's experience is top notch. I felt like he tried to keep me engaged, so i wouldnt be rough on him, but it is supposed to be about the customers experience, not my empathy for the friendly owner. I wish him the best of luck.

Shout out to Smoke's owner Rich who dreamed up the Dumpling/Prosecco Experience for a dozen regulars and social media followers. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Rich and a small split of Maschio Prosecco. After all the participants arrived, Rich's wife Claire and Claire's mom (the star of the show) walked us through the process of making homemade dumplings. Claire and her mom made the simple dough using just two ingredients -water and all-purpose flour. We watched our instructors mix the dough, stretch and roll into a thin rope, snap it off into small chunks, squish it into a disk, use a mini-rolling pin to flatten it out into a small circle, fill it from a pre-made bowl of Ground Beef and Cabbage, then fold and pinch it into shape. Then our dozen attendees tried their hand at replicating all of those steps. Our mother and daughter team's dumplings looked as though they came off a 3D printer- just perfect and uniform. Mine looked like rejected factory seconds. The mother didn't speak English, but I had a blast watching and copying her little tricks on folding in the corners and squeezing the wrappers together. Once the dumplings were folded and squeezed together, they went into a pot of water, and we all enjoyed them before dinner. Dinner was a real pleasure. I loved the vibe at Smoke. If you want to cool it hip and chic I won't argue. I loved all the paintings on the wall. There is a large painting of a ghostly looking, red-lipped female blowing out a puff of smoke. I told Rich what a cool painting it was, and he modestly said he had painted it. So not only is Rich a fun and engaging personality, and a talented painter, but the food at his restaurant is great. Our friend ordered a $15 Spicy Smoked Philly Cheesesteak with American Cheese, Peppers, Onions on a Grinder Roll with fries. I sampled a small slice, and it was terrific, and yeah -it was spicy. My wife ordered a $11 Shrimp and Roasted Corn Bisque served with pita chips, She loved it. I ordered a $10 Smoked Beef Brisket Chili served with tortilla chips. It was a big portion, full of flavorful chunks of beef, and packed just enough heat to make it perfect to my taste. Smoke offers a Sunday Brunch from 11-3 and a Happy Hour Mon-Sat 4pm-7pm. Their pricing is excellent, the vibe is super fun, the food is delicious, and the service from Rich and his staff is excellent. What a fun evening!
