Custom bowl with sweet potatoes broccoli crunchy onions pumpkin seeds carrots rice and quinoa
    Rachel B.

I ordered online, so can't speak to the service but super happy to have a sweet green in the area. Fast casual healthy options are lacking in CT so this is a great addition. The servings could be a little bigger, I did a custom bowl. The new Brussels sprouts and pumpkin seeds for fall are delicious! Broccoli is definitely spicey... sweet potatoes could be cooked a little more

"Sweet dreams are made of these Who am I to disagree?" (Eurythmics) Their marketing niche is to "reimagine fast food for a new era" and their websites buzzes you with "a positive force on the food system", "building a transparent supply network", "cook from scratch", "a healthier way to eat ", climate change", "carbon neutral", etc. They sure have zoomed into prominence since their 2007 start-up when three friends opened their first location in Washington D.C. As of March 2, 2025, there are 924 Sweetgreen locations in the United States. One of their newest is in the Shops at Farmington Valley in Canton, where they took over space previously occupied by Coldwater Creek and a Yankee Candle pop-up store. So, guess where we went for lunch today? The space has a very sleek open design with a long ordering counter and bins of greens, grains, proteins, vegetables, salad crunchies, and dressings. There is a window on your left as you wait to order where we saw a guy chopping away at heads of Romaine lettuce and dicing up some gorgeous red apples. Seating options include plenty of wood-toned booths with light green cushions and a few larger round tables up front that are handicapped accessible. Most of the menu revolves around Protein Plates, Bowls, and Salads Protein Plates Steak, salmon, or chicken with vegetables on a bed of grains. All are between 830 and 930 calories. Bowls Steak, salmon, chicken, or tofu with more vegetables and less grains, are between 540 and 830 calories. Seven of their bowls weigh in at more calories (740) than a Burger King Whopper with Cheese. Salads Some with and some without a protein with various salad bases and vegetables are between 465 and 745 calories. They include a dressing (up to 210 calories for the balsamic vinaigrette, so modifying your salads accordingly can save you a few hundred calories. BTW, their website has an excellent 13-page nutritional chart if you want to get into the nutritional weeds in advance of ordering. Like the other salad chain restaurants, you can always customize your own salads, and Sweetgreen's menu also includes sides (Ripple fries are like waffle fries), focaccia bread, roasted sweet potatoes, chips and kid's meals. For today's lunch, we both created our own salad, and split an order of Ripple Fries and an Olipop Lemon-Lime soda. The base price for making your own salad is $10.25 with add-ons for protein and certain "Premium" and "Super Premium additions. My wife added Herb Roasted Chicken to hers while I added Blackened Chicken to mine. Each was $3.85, and I also went for a Portobello Mix for $2.25. My salad included a mix of their green options (Arugula, Baby Spinach, Chopped Romaine, Shredded Kale, and Spring Mix), with the two extra cost chicken and mushrooms, plus four included veggies -I went with tomatoes, sweet potatoes, banana peppers, and spicy broccoli. I topped everything off with a sprinkle of crushed tortilla chips. When all was said and done, my $16ish salad was big, delicious and lasted for two meals. The $4.85 Ripple Fries were amazing. They were "Freshly cut potatoes, air-fried in avocado oil and seasoned with sea salt + herbs" and served with a unique but absolutely great Pickle Ketchup! Our $3.85 can of Olipop Soda was pretty good. It's a brand I wasn't familiar with, but you can decide if a 12-ounce can of 50-calorie soda is a solid expense or not. Service was great -our patient server Anylan did a great job explaining the process to us, and she was pleasant and very efficient, I can't finish this write-up without commenting on something that really bugged me. We were here at a quarter after one on a Wednesday and the place was packed. I saw half a dozen tables that had CLEARLY finished their lunch but continued to loiter in their booths, gabbing, playing on their phones, and generally occupying space that any common sense and courtesy would dictate they should have vacated. We ended up guiltily taking a handicapped table for four because the clueless clientele thought it was totally proper behavior to linger in their seats and ignore all the people with trays wandering around like hungry zombies on the Walking Dead.

Sweet greens are made of these!! I was really excited when I heard that sweet green was opening up in Canton. I stopped in for lunch and I was not disappointed. It was hard to choose which bowl I wanted but I went with the hot honey chicken!! It was delicious! I can't wait to go back!

    Harvest Bowl sub quinoa
    Dawn O.

Was in Canton and needed to get a quick bite to eat....Spotted Sweet greens and thought this a great time to check them out It has a very clean industrial look to the interior and a large menu along the back wall behind the counter. All the ingredients were already prepped and in tubs just like some of the other salad bar places around here. Everything looked very fresh. I asked the server what were the most popular options and decided to go with the harvest Bowl. I did switch out the brown rice for quinoa to add additional protein. The harvest pool was great. It had all the elements sweet crunchy savory. It had a kale base with sweet potato apples, goat cheese and toast and almonds. I Said yes when asked for a complimentary piece of bread A lot of people might say it's expensive but for what I got price was about average since there were quality ingredients and I was full. Hopefully they'll put one closer by because I wouldn't mind stopping in to a sweet greens again for a healthy option.

This is a $17 bowl? Where's the rest of it? We've ordered takeout from Sweetgreen a few times. This is definitely the worst bowl I've ever seen. Never again!

These days it's hard to find a cafe that isn't overpriced and better than just average. But Toasted Oat hits the high points of quality of cook on the food, even if the ingredients may not all be top notch. They have breakfast sandwiches, bowls and scrambles, as well as regular sandwiches, salads and burritos. We enjoyed the regular breakfast sandwich with spinach and cheese (subbed the meat but wish the spinach had been cooked in - $7) and the breakfast scramble which included 2 eggs, 3 veggies, cheese, protein all mixed/cut up together, as well as hash brown (didn't exactly look homemade?) and toast ($11). Everything was served in to-go containers so the looks weren't the best but makes sense given the place and that most people probably don't dine in. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Everything takes time to come out so you know it's done to order. They also have some coffee and tea. They had a few coffee cake items in a glass display but didn't look homemade either. It feels like a cafe should have more selection of pastries but again bother me. Service was friendly and patient. The actual location isn't that great visually either. There is one longer table and a few smaller ones, but it's not a big place and not decorated to impress (fine by me!) It is located in a small nondescript plaza with an Indian market. Small parking lot. Wish this small business well!

My brunch buddy and I had to make a last minute change of plans, so we landed at Toasted OAT today for breakfast. There are a few tables in a roped off section of the parking lot to eat outside. Inside, there's a long table in the middle, 3 smaller tables on the left, and a bar at the window. We had no problem getting a seat, but it seems like it's more of a take-and-go place than a destination to eat. There are a lot of customizations you can make to your food order, which is more easily done in their online ordering system--but there's a $1.95 service fee to use it. My friend and I made our decisions based off of that system but ordered at the counter. While there are a lot of breakfast and lunch options, there aren't many beverages. Coffee, hot chocolate, and tea are the mainstays for warm beverages, and all cold beverages other than cold brew coffee are prepackaged bottles in a cooler and run just short of $4. Every order, whether it's take-out or eat-in, is served in disposable packaging with disposable utensils. I ordered the Reuben bowl without eggs and a side waffle with syrup. Kind of love that I could get a side waffle. It took a while for the food to come out. It felt longer than it should have been for how few people were there, but I didn't time it. My waffle was cold. The tator tots in the Reuben bowl, however, were cooked perfectly, as were my friend's hash browns. Everything tasted great. If you're looking for the picturesque weekend brunch experience, this isn't it. But if you want a quick bite that's well made with quality ingredients and no-fuss beverages, you'll be very happy here. Even more so if you want to take it on the go.

That's because when you pull into the shopping plaza.....you don't see it. But if you circle around to the right, you'll see it on the side of the strip mall's buildings. And trust me, this spot is definitely worth hunting down to experience a standout breakfast or lunch. We walked in a little before 1:00 yesterday and found a table for two in the back left corner of the dining room, so we had a good view of the entire room. I have to tell ya, the place was packed! Breakaway closes at 3:00 every day except Sunday (2:00), and there were breakfast and lunch menus out, plus a few daily specials. My wife went with a "William's Ham Panini" ($17) with thin sliced ham, bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar and honey mustard on a grilled panini. We both were struck at how much ham was piled onto her sandwich. She had a few choices for a side dish and put her nickel down on potato salad. I went with The JT Salad ($16). The menu says it's been their "best-selling salad 25 years and counting". It was a big portion of mixed greens served with house balsamic dressing, grape tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, and grilled chunks of teriyaki glazed chicken breast. It was stellar, with plenty of that yummy cheese and chicken. The only sour note with our lunch was a rather steep $4.25 for a glass of iced tea that was half-filled with ice. The food was very good and a decent amount of leftovers came home with us for another day. I was unexpectedly impressed by how crowded Bistro was on a random Monday. I bet you'll be too.

But what impressed me was the genuine friendliness of the owners. Dirk is always welcoming, and makes sure the customers are happy. I dont think I've ever met his wife, as she's always so hard at work in the kitchen. Even on mothers day she works nonstop to keep up with demand. (Business is booming now, thankfully!) They value their employees and occasionally close to celebrate them, and sometimes to attend their childrens' school events, which i think is great. As if Green Papaya wasn't already an amazing restaurant, Dirk has now brought chocolate from Belgium and started a chocolate shop within the restaurant. "But I got my head in the clouds like Zeus Swear I can see…read morethe game from a bird's-eye view" (Eminem) What on earth does peri peri mean? Well peri peri is a fiery little African Bird's-eye chili whose name literally means "hot pepper" in Bantu. Tribos Peri Peri in Avon is the regional chain's eighth location (and the only one in CT), with the other seven in MA, MD, and NJ. Their cuisine pays homage to that incendiary African Bird's-eye chili pepper in their Portugese, African, and Southeast Asian flavored chicken dishes. You can have your pick of wings, tenders, platters, and even a whole chicken with or without sides. Some of the sides and appetizers have a Mediterranean flair such as hummus, pita breads, couscous, falafel, etc. The non-chicken lovers can get other dishes with lamb, paneer cheese, falafel, etc. Now, when you order chicken you have to decide on your tolerance for a heat level. I ordered three freshly grilled tenders and needed to select one of their six spice levels for the sauce the tenders get bathed in. Level One is plain, Level Two is Lemon & Herb, Level Three is Mild, Level Four is Medium, Five is Hot, and Six dares you to be Very Hot. I went with Level Four Medium, and I gotta tell ya, my chicken tenders were very spicy. Oh... and the chicken itself? FANTASTIC - freshly grilled, large, moist and perfect. Soon after the tenders were delivered to my table, two more things appeared- a squeeze bottle of white and red sauce. The smiling server said if my chicken was too spicy I could cool it down with the white garlic sauce. But if they weren't spicy enough, I could increase the firepower with some peri peri sauce. Of course I had to try the peri peri sauce and lets just say I was very grateful I just tried an eye dropper's worth of it. Along with the chicken, I ordered an amazing side of grilled corn on the cob. So the food was great, but how about the service? My experience was fantastic. The gent who took my order was friendly, conversational, and helpful. And when he brought out those two sauces, he was playfully smiling when he talked about the heat level of that Peri Peri sauce. What a nice addition to the Farmington Valley.

Our server was busy but super attentive and friendly. I noticed it was very kid-friendly since there were other kids there and they had a kids menu. Their menu was vast menu and I wanted to try so many food items. I started off with a hibiscus margarita; oh my, one of the best I've had, it was a 5/5. We also had the asian calamari; it's fried battered squid, banana peppers, and a side of sweet chili. This was mouthwatering good and it was a 4/5. I had a cesar half salad which was toothsome; the dressing, parmesan, croutons, and salad ratio was perfection. My main entree, I had the prosciutto wrapped cod; that is baked cod, wrapped with prosciutto, served over parmesan risotto and broccoli with lemon butter. The showstopper was the parmesan risotto, I could eat a gallon of that lol. The cod was okay, it needed more flavor but the prosciutto definitely helped with the flavor. Overall the cod fish was 3.5/5. Next time, I want to try their Thai sesame salmon, apricot shrimp risotto, pulled pork Mac and cheese, Bolognese, crab rangoon dip, and firecracker shrimp, to name a few. I was so torn but I chose a bit of a healthier option due to my New Year resolution. I loved that they had the total calories next to the menu items. My family and I look forward to going back soon!
