Got Justin's name through NEXTDOOR.COM. He was polite and able to meet with me quickly over my concerns about our recently purchased home that has a pool in serious need of TLC. Just came out and listened to my concerns and advised on the repair / replace options. Justin gave deep insights into the pros and cons of each approach, not pressuring either way. Since the equipment was nearly 20 years old I opted for the replace which we scheduled 2 weeks out. He arrived 4 minutes early on the day of the install and I watched as him and his son replaced the equipment in under 4 hours. His cuts were precise, his methodology was obviously from an engineer with many years experience. Honestly, it was a pleasure to watch him work and he was not annoyed at my many questions along the way. 4 Hours later he completed the install and tested the system, now it was time for my training. Justin has been servicing our pool for the past few years. His weekly service is reliable and complete - they do an excellent job keeping the pool clean. We've had several issues with our equipment - pump, filter, heater - and he has repaired all three with excellent, timely service. We recently had some issues with our pool heater and our warranty company sent out some other company. After 4 unsuccessful maintenance visits with this company, we contacted the warranty company and insisted that they send out Justin instead. Very happy with Justin. Our neighbors found him and were pleased so I've since hired him several times to fix pool equipment. It typically goes like this: I first make an attempt to fix something or replace something. Fix leaks, lets air in the system, or doesn't work right. I call Justin, who graciously comes out and fixes my fix. This has been repeated several times and he still keeps me as a customer. I've even cheated on him a couple times when he's been too booked or on vacation and I've always regretted it. He really understands pools, their equipment, and how it all works and is able to quickly troubleshoot issues. We had problems with the water turning green almost immediately. the tech is not doing what he supposed to do for weekly service. if you ask the owner, he never responses. he doesnt have the customer to fix the issue but yet complaining on everything else. To say his his response was rude, cocky and condescending would be a gross understatement. It was more like a parent speaking in an authoritarian tone to their unruly child. His excuse for allowing the pool to become so filthy was to say that the technician cannot vacuum the pool when the water level is low. The water level was right at the bottom of the tile - when it is supposed to be in the middle row of tile, granted. read more

I never usually take the time to write a review unless it is a complimentary one. In this case, I am going to have to break with tradition. To be fair, when there was no problem, Justin's service has been satisfactory. However, I have had issues with him on several occasions. When I first began leasing the rental I currently live in (3 years ago), we had problems with the water turning green almost immediately. Knowing nothing about pool maintenance, I left it to Justin to remedy the situation. His initial advice was to increase the time that the pool filter was running from 8 hours per day to 10. This made no difference so he told me to increase the time to 12. This also made no noticeable difference. When I inquired, he showed up and added some very expensive enzyme product to the water that I was told would "neutralize the phosphates that were feeding the algae". Well, what do I know? Add the stuff. Meanwhile, I began to do my own research online and determined that if this did not solve the problem, it could only be the filter. After the treatment, the water cleared up to a bluish-green hue for a few days but then went completely green. When I called Justin to give him the report, he told me to increase the time on the pump to 14 hours!! It became obvious that Justin was not being forthcoming about what really needed to be done. While I can't prove it, I suspect he was happy to continue adding expensive chemical treatments. Meanwhile, the solution was becoming increasingly obvious - even for someone who knows nothing about pools. I contacted the property management company and related the aforementioned story and my assessment that it was the filter that needed to be replaced. They authorized the repair, the filter was replaced and within 24 hours, the pool was sparkling blue. Over the subsequent 3 years, Justin has insisted that the pool filter must be run 1 hour per 10 degrees of max temperature. He cites this as if it chiseled in stone by the pool gods from on high - regardless of my own experience of said 3 years. In the Summer, I have found 8 hours to be more than adequate to keep the pool crystal clear and blue. In the Winter, 2-3 hours per day is completely ample. The water is freezing and there is no way algae will grow in such low temperatures. I don't need to be a pool professional to arrive at this conclusion. You see figures don't lie - but liars can figure, and, obviously, Justin isn't the one paying the utility bill each month. When I related my experience, Justin became smug, belligerent, and completely dismissive of my case against running the pool filter needlessly and excessively. This brings me to the final chapter in my travails with Justin's Pool Service and Repair. I called Justin to inform him that the pool was looking rough and his guy had come last week and done nothing in the way of maintenance. To say his his response was rude, cocky and condescending would be a gross understatement. It was more like a parent speaking in an authoritarian tone to their unruly child. However, the port for the vacuum line is at least 2' below the bottom of the tile line. After being thoroughly chided and disrespected by Justin, the conversation got extremely heated and I proceeded to get verbally sideways with my smug, hipster pool "expert". He then "terminated" my pool service. If you managed to read this far, do yourself a favor and avoid this guy like the plague. There are myriad pool services in the valley that will charge less and take better care of your pool than Justin will. read more

My realtor referred me to Justin's back in July when I bought my home. The pool came with algae, no instructions and I needed to figure out how it worked and maintain it daily. Justin was great in assisting in this process. Extremely knowledgeable of the components and how it worked. He had it figured out and adjusted in no time flat. He also suggested I call him to schedule a annual filter clean which I just had done. He is right it was dirty! Backwashing does not do the whole job. We have had Justin and his team repair and service our pools at the last two homes we have lived in. They currently provide weekly cleaning/maintenance for our large pool and we could not be happier. The employees are very diligent and always attention to detail. The pool is left sparkly clean and the chemicals are always properly balanced. They never leave debris laying around the pool area and the gates are always secured when they leave. Justin also does all of our repair work. We have an older pump and he has kept it running in tip top shape for the entire time we have lived here. He also provides routine replacement of O rings and filter sand when needed. He has NEVER tried to sell us something that we did not require. Billing is a breeze and I am very grateful for a trustworthy and reliable company when it comes to my pool. Justin's Pool Service and Repair put a Mechanics Lien on my property without notifying me. Apparently the previous property owner had a dispute with them. I called and offered to pay the full invoice if they would remove the lien and they were very unreasonable. I will not be using them to service my pool.
