My pool heater would not start, and my regular pool guy couldn't figure it out. I called Clay and he responded quickly. After trying different potential fixes unsuccessfully, he ultimately called a pool heater specialist who came out and diagnosed the problem as an inadequate gas supply. Clay took my call. I called him up to get a second opinion since my original pool company couldn't figure out why my pool heater wasn't heating up the pool. Mind you my original pool company has been trying to resolve this for 6 months now. Clay with Westmoreland said he'd make it out the next day and he showed up as promised. Went to take a look at my pool heater. Fired it up and immediately knew what the problem was. The reason why my pool wasn't heating up is because my water valve was not closed so the pool pump wasn't pumping water into my pool heater and back out to the pool. The pump completely bypassed the pool heater. He closed the valve and it has now been a day since he visited and my pool heater is now heating up the pool after six months of no resolution with the prior company. Our old pool guy worked on our pool and it stayed green for weeks. He kept telling us we needed this and that and it didn't work out. Summary: Lacks integrity and honesty. Don't walk, run. Details: Can't speak to the quality of work that this company does, but can speak to their integrity and honesty or lack thereof. Contacted this contractor looking to repair a crack in Pebble Sheen plaster (see pic). Already had 2 other bids from AZROC-licensed contractors. Clay W. calls me and tells me that he does not know how to get the picture of the plaster crack I sent him on Yelp (really), but not seeing the picture, he tells us that this crack cannot be repaired. He strongly recommends re-plastering the whole pool instead. Not only this crack is fixable, according to other contractors, but they also noted that overall, the pool plaster is in excellent condition, and cracks on steps where concrete wall thickness is much larger than the rest of the pool are common. Moreover, we had another crack repaired three years ago and it looks as new still (see the pic). Recommending to remove the whole pool plaster (costs $7,000) when a fix that costs about $600 would do, without looking at the pool strikes me as dishonest, simply trying to take advantage of a customer. read more

We where in need of getting our new home saltwater pool within the normal range, and we needed our above ground spa drained and restarted with chemicals as well. I reached out to Westmoreland Pools here on Yelp after reading some of the reviews, and got a response fairly quickly. Clay responded back, and gave me a quote that was logical and reasonable compared to the others who came back with much higher numbers to drain, and restart, like in the $400 range. One company said if you want to save money you can drain the spa with a bucket....my response was "or find a better pool service" which I'm thrilled to say I did. The additional plus to working with Westmoreland Pools is that Clay is the owner. I also like that a good portion of me speaking with Clay was by text, email, and by phone when needed, which for me is a time saver. We quickly set up a date and time for the next day. Clay explained he would send over a crew member whose name I forget but he was a really good guy (im really sorry i forgot his name). In fact he showed my husband a few things we didn't not know because we never had a spa, and saltwater pool. I reached Clay on the first call and he came out the same day to look at our pool and give us an estimate. We had cracks in the Pebble Tec of our 20 year old pool and it was time to get it repaired. His was not the cheapest or the most expensive estimate we got, but we went with him because he was friendly, knowledgeable, and he really seemed to want to work with us. Called and texted on Friday 5/14, they responded through text saying they can come look Monday. They No showed Monday but I gave the benefit of the doubt and texted again. They responded that they forgot about us and wanted to know what was needed and pics of the pool. All I need is a clean and pop ups looked at. After sending pics of the pool they didn't respond. I waited 5 hours and messaged again only for them to tell me they don't have any time this week. (???) I responded again saying they no showed and now don't have any time? Like many, I've gone through a pool company or two. The last one I had seemed to come when they felt like it and never did all of the things I was paying them to do. Eventually, they sort of just stopped coming. At any rate, Working with Clay was easy. Email, text, and phone calls . . . he'll take them all. He charges the same as the last place, which is a fair rate, only the guy that comes to my place (yay for TJ!) does everything you'd expect a weekly service company to do. I highly recommend! I called Westmoreland last summer after losing faith in my current pool service company. Before Westmoreland, I had used 3 different pool companies in 3 years. Problems I had experienced from past companies: the recommendation for "little repairs" and "extra services" that were not necessary; the lack of a quick response when there was a problem (leading to their charging us extra for chemicals); or the inability to repair the pool correctly (leading to padded labor costs and improper repairs). I was cautiously optimistic when I hired Westmoreland. Clay (the owner) was very personable and genuinely seemed invested in gaining my trust. He also was knowledgeable about my pool equipment and--importantly!--was licensed to do repairs. Clay's company is small, so he is able to provide quick and individualized service. His techs keep our pool clean and equipment well-maintained. He always calls or texts when he discovers a concern and explains the process and the cost, then waits for my response--so I'm never left wondering what's going on! When we had a problem with our salt cell (which was improperly installed by a previous company), he went to great lengths with the manufacturer to ensure that his repair would be covered under the warranty--saving us a lot of hassle and quite a bit of money. That fact that he'd volunteer to help in this way solidified my confidence in him.
