HORRENDOUS STAFF, LAZY HOUSEKEEPING TEAM, & EVEN WORSE MANAGEMENT. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! Do you want a relaxing place to stay during your exciting but tiring theme park vacation? Do you not want to have to worry about your room being cleaned, the management being kind, and your room actually being clean? Look somewhere else! I recently had the displeasure of staying here, and my experience was nothing short of a complete nightmare. Let me drag you through the depths of my misery. Firstly, the front desk at this establishment was an absolute disaster. It was as if they had a competition going on to see who could take the longest to answer the phones. Each time I called, I was forced to endure a torturous 5-10 minute wait just to get a response. This level of inefficiency is inexcusable. Specifically, I requested shower caps multiple times during my stay, and do you know what happened? Absolutely nothing. Never got them. To make matters worse, my room went uncleaned for TWO consecutive days without any explanation or apology. When I mustered the courage to call and inquire about this egregious oversight, the individual on the other end of the line showed no remorse. Instead, they brazenly stated that there were more housekeepers than rooms, implying that it was perfectly acceptable to skip cleaning my room. This is absolutely not the level of service I expected from a supposedly prestigious hotel like JW Marriott. But the incompetence didn't stop there. Throughout my stay, I encountered numerous instances of ignored messages and requests. The individuals responsible for responding to my texts seemed utterly devoid of competence and failed miserably at addressing my concerns. My dining experience at The Kitchen was equally abysmal. The meal I had there was subpar, to put it mildly. Additionally, the blaring music that assaulted my ears early in the morning disrupted any hope of a peaceful rest. The comfort of the room itself was a tragedy. The beds were as firm as a rock, and the pillows felt as though they had been filled with air. My nights were restless, and I woke up every morning with excruciating back pain. And let's not even talk about cleanliness. When I first checked in, I discovered unsightly hairs in the tub, and it quickly became evident that our room had not been vacuumed at all during our stay. There were hairs on the floor and crumbs scattered about. It was utterly revolting. But perhaps the most infuriating part of my ordeal was the complete and utter disregard I received from the hotel staff. I had a laundry list of problems during my stay, and I diligently sent one email per week for three agonizing weeks straight. Not once did I receive a reply. The hotel blatantly ignored my pleas for assistance. In a fit of desperation, I decided to escalate the matter to corporate. It was then that I discovered the depths of deception within this hotel. The manager, Georgia, claimed that the case had been solved. This was a laughable assertion considering the numerous unresolved issues. It was clear that she had lied to get me off her case. When I reached out to her directly, her response was a robotic cut-and-paste email with no genuine emotion. She coldly expressed regret for my stay, promised to improve for future guests, and offered to be my point of contact for any future stays. But it doesn't end there. When I attempted to call her for a more personal discussion, I was met with voicemail after voicemail. Only when I called from a different number did she finally answer. During our conversation, she displayed a complete lack of empathy and humanity. She questioned the validity of my claims, insinuating that I was a liar and asking why there were no notes indicating issues during my stay. Hmmm... maybe because your team didn't take notes? How is not having notes detailing the stay from YOUR staff MY problem? As if that weren't enough, she dared to suggest that I hadn't given them enough time to rectify the situation. Three weeks of silence is evidently not enough time to respond to a guest's concerns. It's worth noting that other hotels typically respond to emails within hours, if not minutes. Georgia also had the gall to claim that problems should have been addressed during my stay. Given my daily schedule at Disney, coming back late at night to deal with the hotel's incompetence was the last thing I wanted. In summary, my stay at the JW Marriott was a 100% awful experience from start to finish. The staff have transformed into corporate robots devoid of humanity, emotion, or care. Georgia, in particular, has lost all touch with her ability to empathize with guests and resolve issues. The employees' lack of responsiveness and indifference left me feeling helpless and frustrated. My one glimmer of hope came when I contacted Bonvoy customer service. They were fresh air, displaying kindness, understanding, and a genuine desire to help. THEY are HAPPY to SOLVE my issue, unlike some people! read more

Very surprised at the poor quality and poor service at this hotel - it's unlike any other JW Marriott property I've stayed at. First, we arrived with three families in two cars. Luggage was mixed between the two cars. We pulled into valet and told the attendant that we had three rooms so we'd like to have three luggage carts - one for each room. The attendant became flustered and said his job is only to unload the vehicles and that we would have to have someone at the bell desk "figure it out." Next, we checked in at 4pm, which is check-in time. We were told our room was still being cleaned and that we'd get a text message when it was ready. After an hour and no text message, I check with the desk who advised the room is still being cleaned and need inspected. An hour and a half after the check-in time, I finally get to the room. When trying to find a light switch to one of the lights, I find spider webs in the lampshade! For a place claiming to spend so much time cleaning and sanitizing, I can't see how in the hell they could miss spider webs in a lampshade. Across the hall from our friend's room was a dog that barked all day long. You could hear the dog from the elevator and all down the corridor. It was insane. We've been a week here in mid June 2022. The pool construction is a little noisy. The existing pool and lazy river are all open and have food and drink service, but the noise from construction is a little distracting. Almost all of the waterfalls connecting with the pool are either off or non-functioning. The lazy river flows VERY slowly because almost all of the jets are disabled. This must have to do with the construction. Did I have a great week here, Yes! Did my skin tan in the sun even with the construction noise and slow lazy river, Yes! SO much space! That's the first observation upon arrival. Even in the BC era (Before Covid-19) this would have felt wonderful, having so much room to spread out, but these days it is essential. The staff was completely top notch, including the folks taking care of your room. I have not had such wonderful maid service since I was at a Disney resort 15 years ago. (No, they didn't make Mickey shapes with my socks or anything, but they did take the time to make me feel completely cared for.) This is a nice hotel with a good pool and nice location. Facilities-wise, it struck me as very similar to the Rosen Shingle Creek and Omni at Champions Gate, where I have also stayed (they even look alike). We spent a few days here over Spring Break 2021 So why not more stars? After all, there were no issues with the room or difficulty with the staff. My complaints relate mostly to my perception that the hotel was unprepared for the post-COVID 2021 Spring Break rush, and the behavior of other guests. The pool was our primary reason for visiting. It is large and includes a lazy river. However, you need to arrive early to "reserve" chairs. Many guests come down at 7, mark their territory, and aren't seen again until the afternoon. In the meantime, those who arrive later to actually use the pool can't find a spot. Similarly, good luck finding an inner tube for the lazy river. They are all stashed under "reserved" chairs instead of being actively used. This selfish behavior led to several angry interactions I saw between guests. Management or pool staff needs to post a policy and enforce it so that people who want to use the pool/ lazy river now can do so. And those that want to come later can feel assured they can do so without having to hoard chairs and tubes. Other guests got kind of nasty about this and management needs to step in to provide a positive experience for all. We vacationed in Mexico in January 2021, and I was much more impressed by the COVID precautions there. The staff at our resort there enforced social distancing and was constantly sanitizing everything. I didn't observe this so much at the JW. Last, we booked this stay with Marriott Bonvoy points. I was annoyed at still having to pay the $40 per day resort fee on a "free" stay. On the plus side, I noted that my self-parking did seem to be complimentary. In short, a good place, but the staff needs to be more active in promoting good behavior among the guests. read more

You know even though it's a high level fancy hotel it still has a down to earth vibe to it and that's a compliment! It's not pretentious or snooty just comfortable n calming. The hotel itself is beautiful. No complaints there. The room was clean and aside from the bathroom door not closing properly and a giant crack in the shower that made it impossible not to leak water onto the floor, all good. I would definitely recommend eating OFF PROPERTY as we tried various on site restaurants and were less than impressed. I expected more from a "high end" hotel. We would have definitely given more stars if the dining experiences weren't subpar. We ate at the knife and i have never felt more uncomfortable and unwelcome than we did there. We sat down and waited.... And waited.... And waited. It was raining and plenty of staff around watching tv and whatnot but had no interest in us even though when we first walked in we asked if it was self seating. My husband finally got up and asked the bartender (who was watching tv with 2 guests at the bar) if they had anyone to serve us. He replied with a smug look "yes, we have servers " and continued to watch tv. My husband sat back down and i thought it was incredibly rude to not offer us at least some menus to look at while we waited for some service (the menus were literally right by the bartender). The service never got better as our server acted like we were an inconvenience the entire time. Made perfect sense once the bill came and we were informed there was an automatic 18% gratuity included for a PARTY OF TWO. Why treat you well if no matter what they are getting their 18% gratuity? Long story short if you stay at this resort do yourself a favor and find some place to eat OFF PROPERTY. The staff ignore you or will not assist you if you don't look as though you have money. I literally sat at the bar and watched the bartender help 5 other guests that showed up after me. We just stayed here for the weekend with my family. Unfortunately, the hotel has gone down a bit since Covid. So i can't give five stars. They were severely understaffed, and they only had one bar/restaurant open at the pool all weekend, yet the hotel was packed with guests. Thankfully, the bartender Danielle was so nice and quick w service! The highlight of the weekend was our dinner at the Kitchen. Our server and food was phenomenal! We also enjoyed sitting in the bar with drinks. We love this hotel and come 1-2x a year. Unfortunately, I don't think we are coming back for awhile. We will give them some time to staff back up and resume normal operations. Side note: my room was nice and the housekeeper was so sweet. After being in for so long, conscious of social distancing, My family came for a staycation to celebrate a birthday. From the moment we drove up, and Abraham was there to greet us with 2 cars, cake gifts and luggage, no fuss; From check-in at the front desk with Michelle, Laura and Emilio we felt like old friends. The pool is heated and Jonathan Was there with service and pleasant conversation. There is no room service during the week days, but it was not missed. Bar life with Nate Tom and Diego was amazing great drinks and food, the food and drinks were worth every penny. Two words... LAZY RIVER! And that's the only reason I booked this hotel. And yes, it lived up to the hype. I loved every lap around the lazy river. It's a gorgeous pool and I guess September is a great time to enjoy it too. I loved everything about it. There were plenty of lounge chairs to go around. I could say that I think the pool service could have been better as there really weren't many servers I saw while I was there. The poolside restaurant was nearby and I saw people walking over there to get drinks if you wanted them. But otherwise I really enjoyed my time at the JW. So much so that I came back the following week after my business meetings were over to get more lazy river !! The Starbucks and Bodega store were great places for breakfast and a light bite. The Farm to Table Kitchen restaurant was very good. I even visited the farm on the Sunrise Safari and that was fun. Desiree the concierge helped me get on that tour and it was excellent. Norm from the Ritz Carlton did a great tour and I learned all about the adjoining Ritz Carlton property. But for me, it was all about relaxing at the JW Lazy River. I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was. The kids section is across the pool and if you really wanted to relax you could find a nice quiet area near a waterfall and chill by yourself with no screaming kids. What even is this place?! It's insanely fancy. So back story. My fiancé is Marriott lifetime platinum Elite (hmm hmm hmm in my fancy pants voice) and we decided to take a weekend getaway on his points. Hooray! No worries Yelpers, I'm still Amy from the block. The front desk treats him like literal royalty when we check in. It's pretty impressive actually. He stayed in Marriott properties around the world more than he stayed home with me all last year, which I attribute to our insanely successful relationship because absence makes the heart grow fonder and also gives hotel points and airline miles for mini vacations! I digress. So they have a lazy river. TBH this is how our stay went. We got there. I decided I wanted beer and food so we went to Miller's Ale House because the hotel restaurants were super busy for Friday night and I wanted to go out and about Orlando! Then I stopped by Publix, filled my gigantic water bottle up with Shock Top and sat by the lazy river for a couple of hours, got back to the extremely lovely suite, had dessert, watched fireworks and that was a wrap! Our room left nothing to be desired. Full sized bottles of toiletries, the bed was perfect, those pillows are incredible. I adore this hotel. It is a favorite for when we need a tiny getaway. I really wanted room service mimosas in the morning, but we decided to dodge the rain and left a day early due to storms and our afternoon plans being cancelled. Next time I will get some waffles and mimosas. Minus one star for the value. I do not care how fancy you are. You're selling bottles of wine for $100 when I can go to Total Wine and buy the same thing for $16. Same for all of the other libations. Their conference center connects to the Ritz's right next door, so it's nice to have more options for pools and food. The breakfast buffet is also pretty impressive! Yogurt parfaits, honeycomb...more than just crappy food thrown out there like some other hotel breakfasts. This hotel is top notch! We've had an amazing experience here so far. Their pools are all connected with a big lazy river and their outdoor bar, Quench, is solid. While the food and drinks are pretty expensive, the service is impeccable. They have this awesome flag system where you have a plastic flag on the back of your chair and when you're in need of service, you can raise your flag and the servers know to come over. They were always super quick and brought everything we needed whenever we needed it! If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Orlando, this hotel should be your spot. Our weekend here was mostly ok, but ultimately the experience was underwhelming. The positives were that there are great restaurants, great service, and overall the premises is beautiful, both outside and in. However, for me, the pool was let down. One of the reasons we came here for a little staycation was that they have a lazy river. I guess the lazy river was OK, and we enjoyed some of the parts where you were in a hidden little nook. Unfortunately, I think there were too many unattended children for me. I certainly was expecting families, but I didn't know many of the parents would give their kids free reign of the entire giant pool/lazy river area. I also received a tube from the (free) rental booth that had what I could only guess was feces. Some great sanitation going on there - especially in the middle of a pandemic! And please - add more hot tubs (and maybe adults will get to enjoy them, too). Another sign of poor practices was an exit gate from the pool area that went to the lake/walking path which was broken four our entire stay. I alerted 4 different employees about this, and watched guests mess with it all weekend. With this gate broken, you had to walk through a service area to get to the walking path or go all the way through the Ritz or the front doors. With that said, it was great to have access to the Ritz - which was another great property with great restaurants. We had a really good lunch at Highball + Harvest one day, and the service was extra special. Our meals at the Grand Lakes restaurants were good, too - a delicious dinner at Primo (but mediocre service) and an over-the-top breakfast buffet at Citron. The simple Caesar salad at Primo is actually something pretty special, and a must-have for everyone. I'm not sure either restaurant is quite worth the prices, but given the location, it is something you just have to accept. The hotel itself was pretty clean, but I wouldn't use words like "immaculate" or even "grand". The room that we had was kind of a let-down - pretty standard and boring, but we did not splurge that much. We actually had a water issue during the night where the room above us flooded, but they were very accommodating. It was a good thing to try out being local, but I am just not sure that the value is there with the resort fee + parking + room + meals and drinks. read more

The rooms we booked were beautiful and clean. The bathrooms looked immaculate. Upon daily use, we started to notice that the shower was leaking horribly under the door seals. We had to roll towels along the seams to stop the water from leaking out. The drain was also slow to drain. Stepping in someone else's shower drip just makes me cringe, no matter how close you are to your suite mate. Our party was split into 3 rooms, one of which was on another floor. We walked that hall numerous times during the stay. What stood out was the lack of cleanliness in the halls. There was a leftover food tray on the floor for over a day, as well as 2 giant laundry bags of linens. I can forgive the food tray, especially if the person staying in the room didn't call to have it picked up, but the linen bags were unsightly and should have been taken away, not left in the hall overnight. As far as the amenities, there is a great pool and slides area. The lazy River doesn't really push you along, but it has a nice ambiance. There were quite a few families there and some parents just don't watch their kids and there is not staff to reinforce rules. One night near the pool a group of 3-5 kids were climbing all over the lift chair. They were swinging on the straps and pulling on the seat. At one point, the bar from the chair swung and almost hit someone in our party. This went on for half an hour at least and no staff told the kids to stop or let the parents know that that wasn't a toy. They offer other amenities, such as bike rentals and spa services. There is a lot to do and the resort is mostly clean, but it did seem that their needed to be more staff to help make it a better experience. read more

The JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes, definitely wants to make sure their customers have an amazing experience. The grounds and hotel are very nice and inviting. During my stay I was able to enjoy some of the amenities within the hotel, lobby bar, Starbucks, as well as their outdoor pool and grounds. Although these features were great the room was unfortunately a little disappointing. The water pressure was very low, and there was a leak in my shower, causing the floor to practically flood after each shower. The air conditioner didn't run consistently, and the carpets were definitely on the older side. I did expect the rooms to meet the same expectations as the rest of the hotel. Overall, I was happy with my stay and would definitely return. Note: Keep in mind this hotel is used for several conferences/conventions so expect a lot of guests and places to be crowded during convention season. read more

This is a very nice hotel with a great work out room, pool area and shops. The staff is also very friendly and high service. There are a couple of things that they need to work on. 1. The wait times when you call room service, or the hotel front desk are WAY too long. I called for a late check out on the last day of my stay and I was on hold for 20+ minutes! How can a 5 star resort let that happen? Also, when I arrived the first night, I tried to order room service and again was on hold for almost 25 minutes. I thought for sure I had been disconnected. 2. I'm sure it is not the case in every room, but my room in particular had an awful stench coming from the commode. It was literally like the sewer was running by my room. The room and bathroom were clean, but it was terrible. read more

I recently stayed at this JW, as with most Marriott Brands, the hotel and room were in-keeping with brand standards. The entry way was grand, clean, freshly aromatic, and expansive. There is plenty of seating. Restaurants are clearly noted and easily located. The pool was impressive. It's large and clean and includes a lazy river. My room was standard but very nice, everything was at par with expectations. The only caveat is that I believe this hotel to be best for couples. I took my family of 4, but I can clearly see that to have the optimal experience, it would be more befitting a couple. The hotel is close to I-Drive wherever activities are located. Parking is either self park or valet and there is a fee for both. read more

A great hotel if you have kids. I did Seaworld and a crayola experience and this hotel was about 2 miles from Seaworld and 5 from crayola. The rooms could definitely use an update! The pool is amazing and they have a full Starbucks in the hotel. Overall, my stay was excellent. I would definitely go back to this hotel again. read more

Well I can't give it 5 star I didn't stay just passing through the hotel checking out the property. The hotel is also connected to the Ritz. The front entrance to both hotels are very nice the bar area is very large the pools are also large the Ritz has a maze water course that looks pretty cool. Our main reason for checking out the property is there is also a Marriott Resort on the property and a 18 hole golf course. We were actually staying at the Marriott Grande Vista on the back side of the golf course. The next time we are in the area we will stay at the Marriott resort on this property it looks very nice. read more
