Found this place because of other Yelpers and they did not disappoint. The food is delicious we've only been here twice and so far everything's been very consistent, delicious and very fresh. They bake everything they make on the spot. We've had the lemon cake, chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal cookie, cinnamon with raisin monkey bread, apple tart and all very delicious. The service has always been very friendly. The staff is helpful if you have any questions or see something that is not on display to check of the next batch is ready. If you haven't been here, walk don't run if you want to try some of the best cookies, pies, pastries, breakfast sandwiches (weekends only) focaccia and quiche. Jonathan the owner has been tantalizing tastebuds with his delicious goodies for years and he's a master at what he does. The quiche here is some of the best you will find anywhere and another personal favorite is the Croque Madam. Either of these two items or even both of them are a must if you visit here. The giant cookies are so good and they usually have snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip. The muffins are moist and delicious and I've found the blueberry and chocolate are the best tasting but if you prefer something on the more tart side then cranberry is the one for you. He sells bags of baked cheese sticks that are delicious and a crunchy savory snack. They also bake cakes for whatever occasion and their cupcakes with cream cheese frosting are not to be missed! They offer several different kinds of coffees, their iced coffee is smooth and aromatic and never bitter. Finally, the staff here is amazing! Always so nice and so helpful. I love everything about this place. I have used them for catering for several events. They never disappoint. The pastries, pies and quiches are amazing. Anything they do with apple is always out of this world. I am not a muffin person, but their muffins, especially the blueberry, are unbelievable. The first time I met the owner of JW pastry I was at a farmers market and purchased these flaky cheddary straws and some other pastries. I was immediately sold. I kept the business card attached to the goods and I went to bakery and won't go anywhere else for my croissants (and I am an avid foodie, particularly in the world of baked goods). I have tried several pastries from several bakeries in several counties even out of state and this is one of my favorite bakeries so far-- and here's why: Ambiance: The bakery is located in a plaza (on the corner) and there is ample parking to choose from. A while back they shared their inside space with another company but I'm happy to know they're growing and expanded to have the entire place dedicated to the bakery. They always have new menu items and special items for holidays or the weekend. They have also expanded on their menu items to include things like breakfast sandwiches and pizza. They have a nice little space, (looks like a patio) to sit down and enjoy your food there. If not they have a small area with a counter and some stools inside but it will only fit 2-3 people. It has two displays one containing quiches and items like mousse desserts or cakes and the other side is primarily pastries such as croissants, cookies, danishes. They also have loaves of breads. It is a small cozy atmosphere. You get to see the magic being done behind the displays. Service- Always friendly. There is always someone there to immediately attend to you. It doesn't matter who it is the customer service is on point. The nice thing is they always try to get to know their customers. They also offer suggestions and they don't rush you if you don't know what you want. If you don't know what something is they will explain it. The whole experience is pleasant from beginning to end. If you order hot food they are always kind enough to bring it to you and if things take a little longer than usual they will apologize for any delay (even though food always comes out with good timing) Now, the best for last, food!- I think I have tried every category of food over the years. Cheddar straws- flaky, good flavor, sesame seeds for texture. Great for a charcuterie board option or sample. Croissants- hands down one of the best. I've tried other over hyped instagram bakers but this croissant takes the cake. Layers of flaky outer crust followed by a beautifully laminated and light bite in the middle. It taste fresh and is perfectly baked. Chocolate croissant- just as good and just as flaky with a dark chocolate center and the right amount of sweetness. Kouign amann-it's hard to recreate this one and it's one of my favorite pastries. Salty, sweet, and buttery. Good lamination and a caramelized bottom. It's kind of hard to find this one anywhere else so I'm glad they offer even the lesser known pastry items. Pizza- they have a variety of pizzas. If you like kind of a deep dish pan style pizza with unique combinations you should give them a shot. They are a little denser than what I'm used to but I feel part of it is because they don't skimp on the toppings. I had a pepperoni hot honey pizza. Danishes- these are up there for me because they have a savory one with cheese, ham, a bechamel sauce, with a nicely fried egg on top and some herbs. They're pretty and they're sooooo good. Everytime I do visit I ALWAYS get one of these if available. Their mousse deserts are very aesthetically pleasing and they always have new items popping up. Some have been amazing, others I did not prefer but overall I'm sure if I wasn't crazy about it, it's because of personal preference and not because of quality. I have tried many other items but this review would be pages long. Overall, this clearly will always be my favorite bakery or extremely difficult to top and I am sad I am no longer local but I want to make sure they get their credit where it's due. My best comes here often for sweets so she took me to this past after our girls lunch. I had the chocolate dome and she had the berry tart. Both were amazing! If you love chocolate you'll love the chocolate dome but you better get there early to get one. I took the last one at it wasn't even barely 1 pm yet. So I have had this place bookmarked for years and for some reason, never made it here. It is no joke, probably about a 10 minute walk from my home. We attended a YES event at a coffee place and JW was highly recommended by the manager due to us talking about Davie. He said we had to order the breakfast sandwich, on a croissant with truffle sauce. We were like okay, fine we will try it but did not expect it to meet our expectations or match what we were told. Hubs headed here on a Sunday afternoon. Neither of us have been here prior so we did not know what to expect. It is one thing to see on Yelp what looks appealing and another to be there in person. Hubs ordered us each a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a croissant. I prefer sausage patties but they do not have them. He of course made sure they added truffle sauce to each sandwich, which by the way is and extra $2. Hubs also ordered us each an espresso and 1 brioche pastry to share. Hubs managed to spill an entire espresso so we had to share one. The shot was tiny but very strong. It was also a little overpriced, in my opinion. Actually, everything as a total was expensive-I believe we paid over $30 for everything. But let me tell you, omfg those breakfast sandwiches were AMAZEBALLS!!! We decided we would order these not to often because it can add up financially and health wise! Everything was so indulgent and delicious. This is by far the best bakery in Broward. I come here for the egg and cheese croissant. My husband loves it with bacon. Now the desserts anything you order will be delicious. The cakes are amazing I loved my mother days cake and a birthday cake. You can get customized cakes as well. We were in the area from Miami and encountered this lovely French/American bakery. The displays were so well setup that it was very hard to choose what to order in just one visit. We ordered a toasted croissant breakfast sandwich with egg, cheddar cheese, and truffle Gruyère, brioche stuffed with apple crisp and several Christmas cookies. WOW! The croissant was flaky and the truffle Gruyère was gooey and the eggs were airy and perfectly cooked. The brioche was divine. The cookies were fragrant and the crystallized sugar toppings melted right on your tongue. The food presentation was beautiful and the staff and chef were all so nice. JW Bakery was clean, bright, and the outdoor patio was nice. Highly recommend the spot if you're in Davie.
