Just a reminder that Judy abuses dogs and lies to their owners to scam money out of them. Told me that my dog tried to attack her daughter, when I questioned her she said "you just rescued her how do you know how she really is?" Welppppp it's been 4 years and my Sugars has never been aggressive towards anyone including her groomers. Actually she's praised for her behavior at the grooming appointments. She doesn't like her paws to be touched but with a little bit of kindness she can be convinced, even with her reluctance she has never been aggressive. This woman and her daughter traumatized my baby for their own gratification, it's disgusting. They seem to only abuse mix dogs from the looks of the reviews, so if you have a rescue or a mix breed please don't come here if you want your pups to be safe. Judy's counties to impress and stay consistent. I've always had great results with the haircut on my doggo. I appreciate the kindness Judy and Savannah have shown over the years. In my opinion if you bring a decent behaving doggo, and your expectations are reasonable (this is a small non automated non technical store) you should have a great experience. Tips to clients: Prepare your doggo with a small meal in the morning. Make sure they have gone potty in the morning, Be ready for a call on the day you drop off your pet to come.... else don't plan to drop off your doggo. My first time here, was told to drop off at 7am and I was the first one there. Told that my dog would be done by 12. I showed up at 12:40 to pick my dog up and she still wasn't done so I waited outside and 15 min later they called me said she was ready. So I went inside and I believe the owner was the one who approached me. She was kinda rude to me and said I would be better off with a mobile groomer, I said excuse me I said why would you say that. She says because we don't like to be rushed. I said I wasn't rushing you you just told me 12... Being my dog was the first one in geez that's 6 hrs already, she's 12 pounds... My dog has been Mopey sad all afternoon, not herself at all, kinda scary for me. I definitely would NOT recommend this place AT ALL! My dogs first went to Judy's grooming in maybe February or march. It's hard to recall the exact date. They usually see a groomer every 6 weeks but due to some medical issues in our entire family (including the dogs) and their groomer having to cancel and then not answering the phone for weeks, they were very behind. I was so ashamed of the shape they were in by the time Judys grooming could get them in as new clients and I told them as such. I told them I didn't really care what the cost was or how they looked after, I just wanted to get them in better shape so they could be comfortable and that I'd love for them to start seeing someone every six weeks. Fast forward to the end of march and my father had two strokes so my dogs and I were out of state caring for him for quite some time. I'm finally home and settled in and had the capacity to call and make an appt. Judy, or whoever answered the phone was incredibly rude. I'm actually floored by the way she spoke to me. She sounded pissed from the moment she answered the phone. She asked their names and I told her twice, each time I guess pissing her off more because she couldn't hear/understand me. I offered her my phone number so she could locate our account to which she rudely told me no. She asked for my last name and I told her. She said (in a very hateful voice) that she remembers me. Claimed I was a no show on April 17th. I asked if she had texted a reminder of the appt and she exclaimed "YOU DIDNT ASK ME TO TEXT YOU!" Right, I've actually never asked any vet, groomer, doctor, hairstylist, literally anyone to text a reminder/confirmation but they do. I tried to remain nice. She rudely reminded me that IM the one who set up the appt when I picked my dogs up; which wasn't true. I didn't pick them up. Maybe my husband booked it when he picked them up, but I certainly did not. Also, I was in Oklahoma with my dad who had just had strokes, so it 100% wasn't top of mind. Which is absolutely not her responsibility and she couldn't possibly know that. But maybe this could serve as a reminder to not be so incredibly hateful to people so quickly. She then went on to remind me of how horrible my dogs looked the last time I took them in. Which again, I was completely aware of. I was so ashamed and felt so much guilt for how much matting they had which I expressed several times. But she had to rudely point it out again. Then she informed me she isn't taking new customers and since I was a no show I would be considered new. Honestly, jokes on her. She couldn't pay me to ever book an appt there again after the way she just spoke to me. I deserve better treatment and my dogs definitely deserve good treatment. Anyone willing to yell at someone the way she just did likely has anger issues. Can't imagine she'd treat my dogs any better. Thankful to have had the experience so my dogs aren't in the hands of someone so horrid. Reviews on google are okay. Reviews on yelp show how absolutely rude and horrid this lady is. Eventually this type of behavior is going to make this business go under and they'll question where they went wrong. People may not remember what you said or did but they'll always remember how you made them feel. So any time some one in the area asks for a groomer, they'll be directed to this yelp page so they know how they and their dogs will be treated. Which I guess works out since she's not taking new clients. (You can also look at how she is responding to customers on here to see exactly how rude she is). Customer service holds a lot of value and is a large part of running a business. Judy's grooming needs a very intensive course on the topic. read more

I wish I'd read some of these reviews before I took my dog. Judy, the owner, started yelling at me the minute I walked in the door to pick up my puppy from grooming today. Doodle breed with fine hair. She complained about matting. Also accused her of having fleas. We own 3 dogs who take trifexis monthly... no fleas possible unless she picked up a couple of fleas at a Judy's while waiting her turn. If one of our dogs had fleas, all of them would have fleas. And then response to her accused the fleas, she gave my puppy a medicine without my consent. Supposedly that medicine is supposed to kill the fleas within 15 minutes. I can't imagine why someone would give my dog something to ingest without getting approval from me first. Not professional. And if her response to all of this was to immediately start yelling at me upon my arrival to pick up my puppy, I can't imagine how she must speak to the poor pups when no one is there watching. The attacking tone and disrespect was appalling. Will not be going back. It's unfortunate because she gives a good haircut...But not worth the risk of how she may be treating the animals. read more

Very consistent and Judy advised me on anti-flea collars which I greatly appreciated as a new resident of Central Texas. Both my dogs are older, and Judy isn't shy about raising an issue if she's concerned. Note to new clients: Judy has hearing loss, and when she has a shop full of dogs, the barking sets off her hearing aids non-stop, so if you call in the middle of the day, it may be a challenge for her to hear you. We took my 4.5 pound Morkie in to Judy about 5 weeks ago. Soon after dropping him off we were called and notified he was "covered" in fleas. He takes monthly medication and had shown absolutely no signs on fleas nor did we see them (he is very spoiled and is held most of the time, we would have noticed). We told the lady we would come back and get him, she said no it was fine. After picking up our dog he was completely different. He is usually extremely excite-able, hyper, and happy. He wouldn't let us hold him, he hid in the closet and wouldn't come out. He was like this for a couple of weeks. He also started hacking the day we picked him up and coughing non stop. To the point it sounded like he was not getting air flow. We took him to the vet and learned he has a partial collapsed trachea. There is nothing that can be done and he will have to take a steroid for the rest of his life. The lady was extremely rude the moment we dropped him off and considering the time line of events we can assume she handled him too roughly around the neck and damaged his trachea. DO NOT GO HERE We will be further pursuing this. read more

Judy is the most rude and unprofessional person I have ever met. I called for an appointment and she said to bring him in and when I showed up she said I needed to call before coming in which was never told to me when I booked the appointment. Now thinking back at it I wonder why she wants a warning before coming in. Maybe to cover up what's she's doing behind closed doors. I then tried to explain to her my dog has a lot of anxiety and is timid but she seemed to not want to hear what I was saying. She then took the leash out of my hand a said "that's a lot more then timid" while being aggressive with him. She brought my dog back and I could hear him yelling next thing you know he's running through the gates and back to me hiding from her behind me. He was so scared to the point he pooped himself. She said that I needed to get him fixed. When we were leaving he ran to the car and was so scared. I was so upset I wanted to cry I've never seen my dog like this. I wish I would've read the reviews before coming to this horrible place. Seems like a lot of people have the same experience. The owner needs to find a new career. read more

After 8 hours w a 12 pound anxious dog I finally went in and asked her to let me take her home. DO NOT USE JUDY'S GROOMING When I made the grooming appointment via phone @ Judy's, I told the scheduler, Savannah , that my dog was 140lbs Golden Retriever, she said it would be about $65 on the phone. I brought him in, handed him to Judy told her he had mats & I wanted a Puppy Cut. After drop off, I checked in 3 times with the facility on the day I left my dog there - only to be told my dog was a pleasure and they would call me when he was ready. I was then called to pick him up, and that the price was nearly $100- I was frustrated that during my communications throughout the day with her facility via telephone, the staff nor Judy ever mentioned that my dog was difficult to handle, or that his hair was especially thick/matted/long and it was going to cost more money than the quote I had gotten via phone prior. Whether the price is $65 or $92, at this point I have to pay whatever it is to get my dog back essentially which as we all know is priceless, no matter how off putting it was that the change in price was not disclosed until it was time to pick up - so obviously I went back to Judy's to pay and get my dog back, and the experience got WORSE! Judy said to me "are you actually pissed about the price?" I paid the money, held my emotions together and took my priceless big baby of a dog home. I'm not sure if a quick was cut near her nails during a trim or if Judy handled my dog with as much compassion and professionalism as she does the humans that walk through her door (which is slim to none) - but my dog is limping and has not left my side for 4 days. Even when I take my child to get a haircut - they ask me as the (paying for service) parent of the child if the cut is okay before you go to the counter to pay. Even though I pay far more for the service to groom my dog than I do for a kids haircut and understandably so, Judy wouldn't even show me her 'exceptionally worth $30 extra than the original quoted price' work on my dog before I paid! Further, I tried to call back and speak with Judy since our appointment - maybe she was having a bad day or maybe I was especially sensitive but I wanted to get to the bottom of the price issue and more importantly her treatment of me and of my dog? Judy has refused to take my call to discuss and her front desk worker Savana will not take a message that I called or for her to call me back. I get it. Sh....IT happens - you take your car in for one problem, they give you one price but they find another $1k of issues as they are repairing it. However, most successful business models call for the person doing the work to contact the customer, explain the issue and go over any price adjustments. I am a pet sitter myself and will be letting my clients know exactly what to expect if they take their fur baby to Judy's Grooming - Overpriced grooming from a rude/not customer service oriented lady. read more

I recently moved to the Austin area and found Judy after finding myself VERY dissatisfied with the job another groomer did on my Westie! I mean, she completely cut off his skirt-- which is part of the Westie/Terrier trademark, right?!?! When I called she was up front with the price (and it is reasonable and comparable to most others) and knew exactly the cut a Westie should have. And, from the results I saw, she *definitely* knows what she is doing! And, it should say something that I am willing to drive from N. Austin to head about 20-30 min to Leander to get this done. We know gas is expensive, but SHE IS WORTH IT. Please be sure to let her know if your dog has "nervous habits" (mine HATES nail trims!) because she will work with your dog AND with you! I truly believe she went out of her way to establish a relationship with my dog, and I think he truly does like her... And so do I! I will definitely be back again! read more

I should have been more detailed in my previous review. Judy groomed my dogs for a little over 5 years. I had a 17 year old chow mix that was very arthritic and cranky. Judy took such good care of her, took her time and made sure my poor, old girl was not sore. Judy also groomed my stubborn Yorkie Mix. She always came back smelling fantastic and looking like a show dog. There seem to be a lot of complaints on here about how long she takes, and I guess that is really a preference. If you want your dog done fast, go to Pet Smart. I've done that when I've been in a pinch, but the quality is NOT the same. As far as her being rude, I wholeheartedly agree. She's not super personable, but she's great with your animals, and in that situation, what's more important? Unfortunately, we made the choice to stop going to Judy's. We had difficulties with scheduling and the distance is too far to drive for us. We miss Judy, but can no longer justify the drive read more

Still using Judy, we lost our senior Heidi several years ago and for awhile it was hard to get in so I tried some other groomers but my boys looked awful. After several horrible haircuts I knew my dogs deserved better and I needed better service for my money. She has been wonderful with the puppy and the older one who has become quite crabby with groomers and vets. Now I just try to call in advance so I can be ready if she's booked up (more of a problem in spring/summer). Recently one of my dogs she was grooming had terrible fleas, she didn't tack on some outrageous fee to give him a flea bath whereas another groomer charged $10 for it. read more

I used Judy's grooming many years ago when I owned a hair dog, I recall the experience to be mediocre and expensive, but I recently called Judy's to schedule an appointment for my rescue puppy. My first impression upon someone answering the phone was incredibly rude, especially in comparison to the other places I called to get quotes. The moment I mentioned we found him stray so we did not know his breed exactly she became hostile and cut me off insisting she would not see a stray dog.... OBVIOUSLY! When trying to inform the woman on the phone the found dog has since been up to date on his shots, with documentation she hardly let me get a word out... I don't even want to give this place one star. I wish I could give negative ones. I took my four dogs at 7:00 a.m. And I was literally the first person in the door. I had the appointment for over a month. At 6:00 p.m. I was waiting in the parking lot. By 6:30 I decided to go in because they close at 6:00. Judy's daughter informed me that only two of my dogs were done. The other two only had a bath but no grooming. She told me to take them all because they heard my voice and it would be impossible to groom them because they knew I was there. She charged me $170. I asked if I could bring the two back Monday so she could finish them. She said she was booked. Obviously she over-books if she can't finish her customers. We have used this groomer for approximately 4 years. We have been very pleased. However, last time was horrible. She made me feel like I had done something wrong. We brought our baby in at 8:30 am. It was 5:45 pm and we knew she closes at 6. No one called, so we went up there. She yelled at me and said that I did this same thing with my other dog and gave my dog back without being completely groomed. Then she took him back and told me to leave the shop until she called me. We brought our dog in at 8:45 am. We have had this appointment for one week now, and she was the last to be groomed. She held her the entire day and was not done with her until 7 pm at the earliest. It cost $50 not including tip, and her nails were still incredibly sharp when we picked her up. When we got her home, she was starving and very thirsty. I understand this place is busy but for the price and the wait, the service was very poor and they need to work on scheduling better. read more

We moved to Leander a few months ago and still drove our Shorkie into Austin to be groomed because we were scared to try anyone new. I took my dog here last Friday and dropped him off about 7:30 am to be groomed, etc. I believe he was done around 3:00 pm. I have taken my dog numerous places to be groomed and bathed but NO ONE has impressed me the way Judy has. My Aussie is THE SOFTEST he has ever been. I don't know if she is magical, or if she used some kind of wizard treatment on my dog, but whatever magical elixir it was...he feels AMAZING. It is now Monday and he's been running in the yard, biting at the sprinkler, and he even laid in some dillo dirt. He is STILL soft and STILL amazing. I read some reviews exclaiming that they believe Judy is rude, but from my encounter with her I believe she is just doing her job, which is taking care of the pet first. It isn't customer relations; she's doing a job on your animal. She's very blunt and to the point which I have no qualm with. Absolutely 10/10 I will be using Judy's Grooming from here on out. read more

Judy and her daughter, Savannah love dogs. Their dedication in grooming your dog also includes taking time to take care of them including walking them during their visit and evaluating their needs when they are there. I have a German Sheppard that barks a lot but they are fine with it and just covers up her cage to stop her. If there is a problem posted with Judy's Grooming, it is pretty much the owner is a diva and expects more that is reasonable for the time that it takes to do a really good job grooming their dog. You guys just don't get it. You just can't take a dog in and expect a factory finish. This takes time and care and Judy gives it to your dog whether you ever consider it or not. Shame on all reviews that expect a factory finish. Judy is way beyond that and will not give up on trying to give your dog the BEST grooming. read more

Our beloved 100# Golden Retriever's first trip to this groomer and we'll be back. First off, the appointment process was easy. Savanna handled the phone and told me when to drop off -- zero issues. Rusty is a nervous dog but the store was clean and they were very calm -- They called early afternoon: "Rusty is done..." -- went and picked up the pooch. Savanna had the bill ready -- and it was a great value - price was RIGHT! And the results: he looked great!
