I'm writing this review as I eat because I HAVE to let you know how much of an absolute banger this place is. I've been here many many many times and it's finally time I let you in on this secret gem. It's a very small hole in the wall Mom n' Pop shop. There's some seating inside too if you need to rest from being outside in the sun all day. It's definitely no frills, but I'm not gonna dock any points because the main thing is the food. ABSOLUTE BANGER prices. I got the bbq cheeseburger and it was a dream. Very savory and the best part is you don't have to wait around in line for a food truck event to come up just to get your burger fix. I have NO idea what they put in this burger but it's brok da mout. It's SO cheap too. For their plates, they have mini and regular options...which is perfect when you're not ready to commit to a whole plate. The food is made fast and it tastes consistent every single time. They got their system down to a T. I got the BBQ Chicken mini and honestly, this is fully enough to fill you up. They're generous with the chicken, rice and mac. They really remind me of my family when it comes to portioning food...eat eat eat up and grow big. That is a VIBE. My boyfriend and I obsessed over the BBQ cheeseburger! We had it 2 days in a row. It truly hits the spot after the beach even if it's so simple. Though it looks thin, I found it to be filling. The best local plate spot and a must go every time on the island! We love Kailua and Lanikai area and will make an effort to come here when we visit Oahu. The portions are huge and the food is always cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The Mochiko chicken is the best bite, it's crispy yet fluffy and has good flavor! Kalbi is marinated well and not too sweet. Katsu has a lovely crunch and the sauce on the side is good. The hamburger patty and gravy were seasoned well and is just a great bite with the creamy egg. She helped an elderly lady with a cane through the door to ensure her safety and then I saw her stay at the doorway so she could watch to make sure the elderly lady got into her car okay, which took a few minutes. This is a hidden gem in Kailua, tucked away by the kayak business. The owners are really nice, what seems to be popular here is the chicken katsu and local moco although I have not eaten it. I enjoy their teri beef sandwich because the meat is marinated perfect and tender. The fries are always made fresh and hot. Today, our sandwich bun was a little old so the bun was a little crumbly, pretty sad. Being in a "tourist" spot, prices are on the higher side. Was running errands in town and decided to look on Yelp for cheap lunch ideas. Came across this place and saw a lot of good reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered a bbq cheeseburger, and a combo plate (garlic fish and garlic chicken). COMBO PLATE (GARLIC FISH AND GARLIC CHICKEN): when ordering this, I was thinking that the dishes would be cooked in a wet type of garlic sauce, but it was actually both deep fried with a garlic seasoning powder. Still both delicious :) this was able to feed 2 adults no problem (though, to be fair, I wasn't able to eat too much as eating fried food doesn't fare well with my stomach lol) The cashier was a really sweet older lady, and while this isn't a place to really sit down and eat, I definitely recommend this place for a cheap and filling lunch! So glad we found this hidden gem. My family and I were starved after many tourist activities and hubby was craving Hawaiian chicken teriyaki. The inside of restaurant is very laid back with boxes everywhere, kinda reminded me of a warehouse storage room but didn't bother us, but if you are HM, it may bother you. Husband had combo C and the mahi mahi was really delicious and the garlic shrimp was perfectly fried. My kid really enjoyed the teriyaki beef as it was not overly fatty and tender.
