Ulu pasta with garlic butter sauce, mushroom, and chicken.
Derrick B.

You must try Adela's, especially if you're a pasta lover. In-house made with local ingredients. It's a walk up place so be prepared to order and go. Short drive from Kailua was easy Food was amazing and can't wait to go back. My dinner partner isn't a pasta fan but loved it too. I got the Ulu garlic butter sauce with mushroom and chicken. It lasted me two meals!! The other was ube pasta with garlic butter sauce with brisket. So delicious. Service was simple. Aunteh has a microphone headset so pay attention and you'll know what's up and when your order is ready. She's very sweet and so are the other staff.

We decided to give Adela's Country Eatery a try after hearing so many great things . We ordered the avocado noodles with braised beef, ube noodles with lechon, the kalua pig plate, and fried rice. The portions were generous, and it was fun trying some unique flavors. That said, nothing really stood out enough to make us want to come back. The noodles were interesting, but the flavors didn't quite live up to the hype for us, and the meats were just okay. The kalua pig plate lacked flavor and fried rice were decent but nothing especially memorable. Overall, we're glad we tried it once, but it's probably not a place we'll come as a local. . Everyone's tastes are different, so it may be a hit for others, but it just wasn't our favorite.

Best noodles on the island. They have various type of noodles but I find the Taro Pasta with Shrimp Luau Leaves Mushrooms & Coconut cream sauce the best!!! The Lechon Pork Belly Malunggay Pasta is the clear 2nd . The braised short rib plate with mash is crazy good too. The food is pretty solid and could feed 2 people per plate. Phone in to skip the wait. No Ambiance cuz you have to eat to go. Go to the botanical garden and enjoy the views with your bomb food!!!

After a day of water activities and snorkeling at Kaneohe Bay Sandbar, we headed straight to Adela's and got Lechon and fried rice as recommended by the tour captain. We also tried Ube pie but wasn't able to try malunggay noodle. The food didn't disappoint! We had to wait 40 mins to get our food so after ordering we went to do some quick shopping to a nearby Target. We had a picnic and ate our food at the nearby botanical with amazing views (as recommended by the tour captain). Short and sweet and but an equally beautiful experience. Staff members were super nice and friendly.

Adela's is one of those places that completely lives up to the hype. The food is consistently delicious, and those handmade noodles are the star of the show. This visit we ordered the Combo #1 Garlic Ulu Noodles with Portobello Mushrooms and the #4 Lechon (Pork Belly) with Malunggay Noodles. There were four of us with three little ones and this was enough to feed us all! The noodles were cooked perfectly as always, with great texture and flavor in every bite. A little tip: I always order ahead and time my arrival, just in case there's a long line. It makes the experience even smoother and lets me get straight to the important part, eating! Also, Adela's is takeout only. The good news is there are plenty of nearby spots where you can stop, eat, and enjoy your meal while taking in the island atmosphere. I wish I had remembered to take pictures of the food before we devoured it, but it disappeared way too fast. Thankfully, I did get a photo of the desserts display, which are every bit as amazing as the noodles. We tried the Ube Cheesecake and Passionfruit Cheesecake this time. Both were fantastic, but my favorites so far are still the Ube and Guava cheesecakes. Definitely put this place on your list of places to eat while you're here. The handmade noodles alone are worth the trip, and don't leave without dessert!

This is one of the most surprising food establishments I've ever been to. Why because it's about 40 minutes away in a rural area in Hawaii, in a strip mall and there's nothing else there in that strip mall that is of value. Then this establishment has no places to eat no dining tables no chairs it's just takeout only. Another thing that is very surprising. Is that when you order it takes about an hour to get your food and I find it surprising because people line up to order it and then they just wait outside in their cars or leave and come back or try to call it in and then wait longer and it's just one of those things where I can't believe how popular it is and how long it takes to get a meal and people are completely willing to drive out of their way and wait. Another surprising aspect is the price point. You are paying dine in restaurant semi mid upper level prices for items put in a takeout box. The only saving grace is that the food does taste good and it is a large portion size - so when you're leaving, you're literally carrying several pounds worth of food that could feed a whole family. I purchased three plates and the total was over $80. I called to order it in advance and it took 75 minutes until it was ready. Sorry I don't think this is 5-star value or should be noted as one of the best places to eat.

The food is always so good, no matter what you order. Today we went off a great review & ordered the Braised short ribs w/avacado noodles with florentine sauce & portobello mushrooms to top it off! The best tasting entree. The flavors popped & was so delicious. The mushroom were a perfect addition. Sautéed perfectly & a generous serving on the whole dish. Enough for two! Without Millie running the show on her loud speaker microphone & running the show like the general in charge, she is. Today, the ladies were lacking the normal enthusiasm & just seemed to slowly get their jobs done! Otherwise, Adela's Country Eatery is a 5 star takeout only eatery! We are blessed to have them in Kaneohe!

I remember the first time I tried Adela's on my first trip to Oahu in 2022. Four years later, we come back every time we visit. The lady who works the front is so sweet and she's patient when it comes to explaining the tastes of everything and what her favorite dishes are. The inside is not a sit down restaurant but more a grab and go. Love that they display their desserts up front. My boyfriend got the garlic butte ube noodles with brisket and I had their lechon malunggay pasta.. 10/10! Their garlic ulu and taro pasta is also fantastic! Definitely worth the price but recommend sharing a plate otherwise you'll have loads of left overs. I also tried their cheesecake with macadamia crust, delicious. Please give them a try if you're visiting the island!

I now understand the hype about Adela's and don't know why I haven't tried them sooner! It was a little overwhelming because they had so many options to choose from but they do have suggested popular specials or just a make your own plate. Decided to try their moringa pasta with the lemon cream sauce and added some chicken for protein. I thought it was a bit much for $30 but given the hefty plate, this was easily 3 meals for me--well worth it in my opinion. The pasta was a bit over cooked but I really enjoyed the lemon cream sauce. A generous amount of chicken as well. Couldn't leave without getting some dessert, so got a calamansi lime cheesecake and the lychee cheesecake. I wish there was a stronger calamansi flavor to the cheesecake but the lychee one was delicious! Service was quick, you order what you want and they call you when your order is ready, if you want to explore around the area/wait in your car. I waited no more than 10-15 mins. There's no seating inside, so this is a grab and go type of place. Next time, I'll be sure to just call in the order and maybe request for the sauce on the side so my noodles aren't mushy.

The noodles are very tasty, and the portions are big! One box is good for feeding 3 people. There's no seating in side and there is only one long bench outside, so this is pretty much a to-go only place. You can order ahead over the phone and pick up there. The pork belly is amazing. Super crispy skins with flavorful meat, and it matches very well with the green pasta. The taro pasta with shrimp is a different style (creamy) but also super good. Those two boxes are enough for us two for one lunch, one dinner, and another one lunch

Still the best! Still world-class! Still the shining star of Oahu's finest restaurants! So proud of what this Ohana has accomplished in so short a time... 7 years ago when they opened I was privileged to be one of their first customers. They excelled then and they've climbed even higher since! For those who claim otherwise, look at the objective evidence: #1 Best restaurant in Hawaii #1 Best restaurant on Oahu USA Today Top 10 Restaurant in US 2024 Yelp Top 100 Restaurants in US 2023 Yelp Top 100 Restaurants in US #1 Best Homemade Cheesecake in HI And you don't have to spend a ton of hard earned money to enjoy a chef-quality meal made from all local sourced ingredients (farm to fork). Today we stopped in and it was like a family reunion! Ms Millie gave us her personal recommendation with some off-menu suggestions and we were wowed! The garlic 'Ulu pasta with fresh portobello mushrooms was sublime! This is our new go-to meatless dish! I'd match them against any Michelin-rated establishment and would bet on Adela's as the clear winner! We also opted to take Ms Millie's recommendation and added the fresh malunggay (moringa) pasta with pan sautéed mahimahi, and it was exquisite! The freshness of Italy meets the precision of Japan with the Aloha of Hawai'i! If you are a pasta connoisseur you must not pass up this place! Come and see. Mille grazie (pun intended), Arrigato Gozaimasu, maraming salamat po for reading my review.

Sweetest lady running the front cash register. Its a small place for take out only but they are efficient and considerate with options. This isn't my first time here, nor the last. Food is quality, price was high initially but then you see the portions and its well worth it.

This was probably my favorite meal during my whole trip. I'm writing this review late, and can tell you that even though it's been a year, I still think about the food we got from here, more than I'd like to admit. Adela's is a small, take-out order only place, but extremely busy. We phoned in the order ahead of time and the wait time was about 45 mins. We got the Sweet Potato Noodles with Garlic Butter and Lechon. Gracious, it was delicious. Worth every penny. The lechon was crispy, tender, and flavorful. The noodles had the perfect texture and paired flawlessly with the garlic butter. We also got Okinawan Sweet Potato Poi Bread, but this unfortunately was blown out of the water by the noodles. I would not order the bread again, but would instead order 2 plates of food for myself, diets be damned. Easiest 5/5 of my life.

Morninga noodles with morninga pasta sauce and garlic shrimp! Delicious and was about three meal's worth for me.

Ask the Community - Adela’s Country Eatery

What's the earliest to call in your order?

You should call at least 30 minutes before you get there. They take 30-45 minutes to cook food depending on what you order

Do all your noodle sauces contain garlic? Is there any option to order the coconut cream sauce with no garlic? I am not allergic, but I do have an intolerance (Low FODMAP).

I'm pretty sure they can make it without garlic. Just tell them no garlic

Are the sweet potato u'ala noodles vegan? I bought the dried noodles but there are no nutritional facts.

I'm not sure. Call them. (808) 236-2366

What are the gluten free options?

Aloha Jenna, we can make any of our protein and vegetable plates without any gluten options. However, we do make our noodles in our small space and we do not recommend ordering from us to those who have severe health concerns for safety purposes.…

How much is the ube cheesecake?

Aloha, all of our cheesecakes are $8.89 a slice.

Can the vegetarian options be made allium-free (no garlic, no onion)?

We can accommodate, however, our kitchen uses garlic and onion for other plates and we do not recommend placing an order for customers with serious allergy concerns.

Is a single order of a combo like the lechon malunggay pasta filling enough for 2 people.?

Yes. It is a large portion enough for two people unless you're super hungry and don't forget to check in for a free drink!

Can you accommodate for low/very low sodium diets for takeout menu items? Can stir fried items be cooked without salt and combined with pasta and a less salty sauce?

Aloha Lynn, our recommendation is to not use any cream base sauce and cook with water only. Mahalo!

Which of your sauces are dairy free?

Adela's have three dairy free sauces: Original Moringa Pasta Sauce, Local Stir-fried Style, and Coconut Cream without cream. Please do advise if it is a serious medical concern, we recommend not having any sauces since our kitchen does handle a lot…

Do you have any gluten free options?

We are not currently offering gluten free options on our menu. We will be sure to let our valued customers when we have them available.

Do you have nutritional values on your homemade noodles?

We do not have nutritional values on our noodles. We would be happy to answer any questions that you have about our menu dishes. We are reachable at (808) 236-2366.

Aloha! Can you tell us if you use compostable paper containers or styrofoam/plastic? Thanks.

Aloha, Adela's currently uses a combination of compressed sugar cane, corn and Styrofoam packaging due to availability and supply chain shortages faced by all Hawaii restaurants. We aim to migrate to100% compostable packaging as soon as it becomes…

I have a peanut allergy, is there peanuts in any of the menu items?

Although we do have dishes that do not have peanuts, please be aware that our food may contain or come into contact with common allergens, such as dairy, eggs, wheat, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish or wheat since there is no separate…

Hi, wondering if the noodles are made with eggs?

We do have menu options that are made with or contain eggs. Please let us know if you have any food allergies so that we can accommodate your dietary needs.

Are the noodles gluten free?

Hi Tze, Our noodles are not 100% gluten free. We have to use wheat in the binding process of the noodles, so they all have some wheat in them. If you have any questions,…

Hi, Ulu noodles sounds amazing. Is there wheat flour in them or your other noodles?

Aloha Mary, Our noodles do have some wheat flour in addition to the other featured ingredients.

Is there anything vegan?

Yes. One vegan stir fry special. Plus, all the noodles are vegan. Choose a noodle, pick the marinara sauce or the garlic and oil sauce and add either portabello mushroom or zucchini add on...and you have a great vegan dish. This is under the 'make…

Thank you for your quick response. I had a couple more questions. First, is there any flour in the demiglace? Also, how are the green beans prepared?

Sorry, I have no clue. I did not order either of these.

What items there are keto friendly? I know of the brisket, lechon, and shrimp. Not sure if the hamburger patties have any filler, like bread crumbs. Am I missing anything?

Aloha Stan, You can substitute green beans for rice or potatoes.…

Golden Pho is a treasure. This owner-operated restaurant makes you want to come back for more…read more That's not great for me since I'm a townie and Golden Pho is located in Kaneohe. But if I'm on the Windward side, this is my go-to, all the time. They have one of the most extensive menus I've seen in a Vietnamese joint--everything from bahn mi, to udon noodles, to curries, to pho, to noodle soups, to appetizers, to à la carte entrees, to desserts. There is something for everyone and it gives me reason to keep coming back to try different dishes. So far, I had the shrimp udon (but slurped that up so quickly I didn't get a picture), papaya salad, lemongrass tofu vermicelli, and shrimp summer rolls. Hubby enjoyed the Pho, MIL adores the pork udon. Came here on a date, with the MIL, and with friends. Received great service each time and devoured all our dishes with delight. Not one thing to complain about. Also love their variety of sauces available on the table--don't even have to ask! The coffee was delicious too. I had it black and it was rich and smooth, no bitterness at all. And I split the fried banana dessert with friends (avoided the ice cream)...which I should mention I'm pescatarian and I avoid dairy. Love a place where I can enjoy my meal along with the company of my meat-eating, dairy-drinking loved ones. Again, something for everyone. Parking is on the side of the building. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Restrooms are very clean. Worth the drive to the 96744 zip code. Will definitely be back soon!
