A coworker was raving about this place and it had been burned into my memory as a "must try" if we were ever in the area, so when we had an event to go to nearby recently we made sure to swing by. We went on a Saturday around 11:30, and it must have been the perfect time to go because the parking lot was half empty and we walked in and placed our order without anyone else in line or waiting outside. We were told that it would be up to a half hour wait, and while we stood outside we watched the situation in the parking lot grow more and more out of control over the course of the next 20 minutes. By the time our order was ready, the parking lot and the line of people trying to get in to place and pick up orders was crazy. The consensus from other people I talked to that were regulars and picking up orders was to call ahead and place your order, which we will do the next time we go, having just been lucky on our first visit. There were so many options on the menu that we decided to take the easy route and order from their list of most popular combinations. We ordered the Garlic Ulu Pasta with portobello mushrooms and the Ube Pasta with lechon and garlic sauce. We also indulged and ordered the guava and blueberry cheesecake. The garlic ulu pasta with mushrooms was fantastic, but the ube pasta with lechon stole the show. It's worth the trip for the lechon alone, which is quite possibly the best I've ever had. The price per plate is expensive on paper, but the portions are very generous and can easily be shared by 3-4 people, which seems to be the intention because they ask if you need extra plates to share when you pick up your order. The cheesecakes were also great, if you're in the mood for something sweet. Be aware that the parking lot is very small. When it got busy it became a mess of people trying to leave, while others were trying to come in and force their way into parking stalls. I've never seen so many white rental Jeeps in one spot, and I saw more than one near accident in the 20-30 minutes I was there. The best plan of action might be the advice I got from a fellow local there picking up, to 1) call up to an hour ahead to make your order, and 2) have someone drop you off to pick up your order and drive around the block and come back and pick you up. read more

We HAD to add this to our "to try" list, calling ahead your order an hour in advance helped so much. We went for the two that come highly recommended. 1) garlic ulu pasta with portobello mushroom and 2) pork belly malunggay pasta. We snagged two desserts as well, a blueberry cheesecake and their carrot cake. The pastas are incredible, like they have a variety of pastas to choose from, healthy too so you can't feel bad when eating it because hellooo great for your health. It's a small shop but you see the love that goes into making each dish and creating something magical for every patron. It exudes excellence and I'm glad it's getting so much love from locals and visitors like me each day. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Adela's Country Eatery so much! You would honestly never think that taro noodles with a creamy sauce would go together, but they just work perfectly--it is so incredibly delicious. The best meal of my life. I dream about Adela's pasta every night of my sleep. I got the taro pasta with coconut cream sauce and chicken. It changed my life, I can't ever stop thinking about it. The only bad part is no where else sells taro pasta and I don't live in Hawaii. I would probably move here just so I could eat here every day if I could afford to relocate to Hawaii. We decided to give Adela's Country Eatery a try after hearing so many great things . We ordered the avocado noodles with braised beef, ube noodles with lechon, the kalua pig plate, and fried rice. The portions were generous, and it was fun trying some unique flavors. That said, nothing really stood out enough to make us want to come back. The noodles were interesting, but the flavors didn't quite live up to the hype for us, and the meats were just okay. After a day of water activities and snorkeling at Kaneohe Bay Sandbar, we headed straight to Adela's and got Lechon and fried rice as recommended by the tour captain. We also tried Ube pie but wasn't able to try malunggay noodle. The food didn't disappoint! Adela's is one of those places that completely lives up to the hype. The food is consistently delicious, and those handmade noodles are the star of the show. This visit we ordered the Combo #1 Garlic Ulu Noodles with Portobello Mushrooms and the #4 Lechon (Pork Belly) with Malunggay Noodles. There were four of us with three little ones and this was enough to feed us all! The noodles were cooked perfectly as always, with great texture and flavor in every bite. A little tip: I always order ahead and time my arrival, just in case there's a long line. It makes the experience even smoother and lets me get straight to the important part, eating! Also, Adela's is takeout only. The good news is there are plenty of nearby spots where you can stop, eat, and enjoy your meal while taking in the island atmosphere. I wish I had remembered to take pictures of the food before we devoured it, but it disappeared way too fast. Thankfully, I did get a photo of the desserts display, which are every bit as amazing as the noodles. We tried the Ube Cheesecake and Passionfruit Cheesecake this time. I now understand the hype about Adela's and don't know why I haven't tried them sooner! It was a little overwhelming because they had so many options to choose from but they do have suggested popular specials or just a make your own plate. Decided to try their moringa pasta with the lemon cream sauce and added some chicken for protein. I thought it was a bit much for $30 but given the hefty plate, this was easily 3 meals for me--well worth it in my opinion. The pasta was a bit over cooked but I really enjoyed the lemon cream sauce. A generous amount of chicken as well. Couldn't leave without getting some dessert, so got a calamansi lime cheesecake and the lychee cheesecake. I wish there was a stronger calamansi flavor to the cheesecake but the lychee one was delicious! Service was quick, you order what you want and they call you when your order is ready, if you want to explore around the area/wait in your car. I waited no more than 10-15 mins. There's no seating inside, so this is a grab and go type of place. Next time, I'll be sure to just call in the order and maybe request for the sauce on the side so my noodles aren't mushy. read more

The mulanggay was my favorite, and the taro/coconut cream sauce was my boyfriend's favorite. However, literally all of them were incredible, you can't go wrong. Also, do NOT forget the cheesecake. We got the ube flavored one but I wish we got all of them. This place is takeout only and it took ~30 min for our order to be ready after calling in. The ladies at the store were incredibly sweet. I called shortly after they opened on a Friday morning around 10:30am and ordered the Garlic Ube Pasta with Portobello Mushroom along with the Okinawan Sweet Potato Ube Pasta with Lechon & Garlic. Within about 30 minutes, our food was ready for pickup. Heads up, orders are made fresh and can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes, so calling ahead is definitely the move. While picking up our food, we also grabbed an Ube Cheesecake and a slice of Okinawan Sweet Potato Bread from their dessert case. There's no indoor seating, so we ended up taking everything to a nearby park. Garlic Ube Pasta w/ Portobello Mushroom (4/5): Strong garlic flavor throughout, which paired really well with the chewy mushrooms. I originally asked for ulu pasta but think it may have been misheard as ube, so I'll have to try the breadfruit noodles next time. My only complaint was that the dish was a bit too oily, even after the noodles soaked most of it up. Okinawan Sweet Potato Ube Pasta w/ Lechon & Garlic (5/5): My favorite of the two. The noodles reminded me of chow mein with the stir-fried texture, onions, and tomatoes. I think I've nearly every item they serve. All so good. I wish they had an area to dine in. Here are some tips for first time visitors. When you first walk in you will hear someone greeting you over a speaker. The person at the counter will most likely have a respiratory mask on speaking on a head set. I recommend checking out the menu fully before ordering instead of going by impulse and pictures. There are lots of options and the portions are large. After you order you will be given a number and there will be a bit of a wait to get your food. I like going a few doors down to Javi's the Mexican restaurant and sitting at the bar and getting one drink while I wait (only if there are seats available). Why because it's about 40 minutes away in a rural area in Hawaii, in a strip mall and there's nothing else there in that strip mall that is of value. Then this establishment has no places to eat no dining tables no chairs it's just takeout only. Another thing that is very surprising. Is that when you order it takes about an hour to get your food and I find it surprising because people line up to order it and then they just wait outside in their cars or leave and come back or try to call it in and then wait longer and it's just one of those things where I can't believe how popular it is and how long it takes to get a meal and people are completely willing to drive out of their way and wait. Another surprising aspect is the price point. You are paying dine in restaurant semi mid upper level prices for items put in a takeout box. The only saving grace is that the food does taste good and it is a large portion size - so when you're leaving, you're literally carrying several pounds worth of food that could feed a whole family. I purchased three plates and the total was over $80. I called to order it in advance and it took 75 minutes until it was ready. Sorry I don't think this is 5-star value or should be noted as one of the best places to eat. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! We stopped by here on our way back from Kualoa Ranch. It's a hole in the wall in a small shopping center and doesn't look like much upon arrival. BUT LET ME TELL YOU THIS PLACE SURPRISED US SO I HAD TO WRITE A REVIEW. A worker explained that the noodles are made in an ancient art form that is dying. You can tell they take pride in their work. A lady at the entrance walks you through how to order to make it easy. The staff are so nice. There isn't seating so they package it to-go and separate everything so nothing gets mushy. We all loved our orders! We got the Ube (purple sweet potato) noodles with shrimp, avocado noodles with shrimp, regular noodles with shrimp, and the Moco Loco. My vegan sister got the breadfruit noodles with tofu and veggies. They make the noodles per order and they are soft and savory and so so good. I cant explain how good so you just gotta trust me. We are foodies and rarely this impressed. Even my vegan sister was because she has difficulty finding good vegan food when eating out. read more

I remember the first time I tried Adela's on my first trip to Oahu in 2022. Four years later, we come back every time we visit. The lady who works the front is so sweet and she's patient when it comes to explaining the tastes of everything and what her favorite dishes are. The inside is not a sit down restaurant but more a grab and go. Love that they display their desserts up front. My boyfriend got the garlic butte ube noodles with brisket and I had their lechon malunggay pasta.. 10/10! Their garlic ulu and taro pasta is also fantastic! Definitely worth the price but recommend sharing a plate otherwise you'll have loads of left overs. I also tried their cheesecake with macadamia crust, delicious. The Lechon Malunggay Pasta is absolutely delicious! The seasoning was just right. The pasta and additional veggies were a perfect combination. Come hungry and expect to park in a small parking space. This place is very popular. There are no inside seats so this is a "grab and go eat in your car" type of place. The woman who took her order was really friendly and helpful. I'm not in the Kane'ohe area very often but whenever I am I try to always make a trip to Adela's! Aunty is always there taking orders and serving up her delicious homemade, locally sourced noodle dishes. Her eatery is takeout style so there isn't any seating inside. Just call ahead, grab and go! Must try items are the Garlic Ulu Pasta with Portabella Mushrooms & the Okinawan Sweet Potato Ube Pasta with Lechon. All the pasta dishes here are worth every penny!! Don't skip on the desserts too. I came when I visited the island 4 years ago and I had to come back for one of my favorite meals! First of all, the aunties here are nothing short of kind and friendly. They are the sweetest and make coming back even better. I ordered the #3 and the portion size hasn't changed. Neither has the taste! The lechon is flavorful and crispy while the noodle are unique but so delicious. The garlic sauce really lingers in your mouth, but it tastes too good for me to care. There's no seating inside as it's a take out place, but we took it to the nearby Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden and ate on the picnic benches. read more

Portions were huge and two people can share. Only giving it 4 stars because I liked the Malungay pasta and didn't like the taro otherwise I'd give it 4.5-5. I would definitely recommend the Malungay pasta with lechon. Also, if you order at the restaurant there's a 20-40mins wait. We had a local friend who recommended order ahead but we decided not to. People who ordered ahead got their food instantly. Overall good eats and will visit this local food staple when visiting the Kaneohe side! read more
