My husband is relatively new to pedicures, and they worked well with his sensitive/very calloused feet. My daughter and I are very happy with our mani-pedis. Last Friday my sister and I had an appointment at 4pm, which didn't even matter because we had to wait. My sister had to wait longer and she was not happy about the wait, her nails, or her pedicure. She did not have a good experience AT ALL. The older lady who was doing her pedicure did a HORRIBLE job. I paid for the deluxe and she put the wax bags on my sister's feet and walked away. My sister had to mix it around herself so it can cover her feet. Just -11/10 customer service from that old lady. I only put 2 stars because of the two people who helped me. The girl (was told her name is Vee) who did my nails did a good job, improvised what was needed, & she was hella chill! But I usually get acrylic/dip powder and got gel nails. The man who did my pedicure (minus the polish) also did a great job and had good customer service. Kelly painted my toes but did a bad job. It wasn't until I got into the car and saw that she didn't apply the polish evenly. She was on the phone too, going back and forth with the polish. You can see uneven coats, felt like she was rushing & distracted. For that I won't be back. I didn't want to go back & say anything because I didn't want to be there any longer than we already were. Plus I was with my sister who was already hella over this nail salon. Just took the L and won't ever be back. For the price I paid for both my sister and I? Never again. I made an appointment for 6pm. Pedicure and gel manicure. I said my niece would come in at 630 for a reg mani and Pedi. The whole experience was so slow, and also not very good. For me - see pics. One of the worst gel manicures I've ever had. Cuticles not cut, gel chipping already (I was there an hour ago), uneven shape (and also, not what I requested), and the guy who did my nails was very distracted. I'll spare you the pedicure, which looks like I painted my toes w my eyes closed. For my niece, they didn't see her until 7:15! Poor thing had to wait 45 min. She's six. She's a child. No one seemed to have any regard for the fact that we had appointments, or that a child was there. On top of that, it was very difficult to communicate. We brought kid-friendly polish, and it was a whole ordeal to make sure the salon people used that polish vs what they had in store. This is not a knock against immigrants (my parents are immigrants), but if you're going to be in the service industry, I don't think it's an unreasonable ask to be able to understand the requests of your clients. On top of that, we were there for a total of 2.5 hours. That's insane, especially since some of these services were done in parallel. I'd love to say you get what you pay for, but this was not cheap. I should have known the second I walked up the door. Any place that mixes up the push/pull signs on their door, clearly has no regard for their customers. Flexible time when I called to schedule appointment to do my nails. $30 gel mani and $26 pedicure. I like how they had hot stones for the pedicure and rubbed it near the end as a finishing touch. The chairs should have a massager so it would have been a nice way to relax more. I wished that they did more post massage on the hands after manicure. This place was a small and cozy spot on the right-hand edge of a plaza on San Pablo Ave. Walking into the business, you could definitely smell a strong scent of nail and cleansing products (probably the norm); this was definitely a new experience, as I don't think I have been in a nail salon before. There was a little bit of a communication issue with our reservation, where the staff on the phone scheduled my partner in for the day before instead of the expected Sunday. With that said, they were still able to squeeze her in five minutes after we showed up. It was $15 to remove her acrylic nails; the male worker was gentle and adjusted his work based on his customer's reaction. My partner's pinky nail was feeling sensitive during the removal process with clippers, so he switched to wrapping the nail in a cloth soaked in solution in an attempt to loosen the acrylic nails. This ended up being a lot more comfortable, leading to a smooth process. Overall, had a positive experience, and will probably come back if my partner ever has to do her nails again! read more

I have been going to K& T Nailspa since they opened a few years ago. I would drive the twenty minutes from my home because I LOVED Yen, and she did a phenomenal job on my nails every single time. They were very affordable (and I'm a teacher), friendly and kind, I appreciated that there was no banter and everyone was focused, and I walked out happy each time. Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore :( Things have changed a lot- the biggest being Yen is no longer here anymore and they have hired many new staff members. I have given them multiple chances since I found out she moved, but usually end up disappointed. I really adore Hannah and her husband, and I wanted to continue to support their business. But, I think this will be my last time ever coming to K & T. Truthfully, if you aren't seeing Hannah for your nails (she primarily does acrylics and design) it's not worth it. I'm a regular gel manicure gal- and this means I usually get whoever is free. The woman who did my nails today, did a terrible job. There are clumps of polish in the corners, the bottoms are uneven in terms of the polish, and she poorly did my cuticles so they look sloppy. She knew she painted them poorly and then proceeded to try and fix it, in which she was filing and cutting the corners of my nails, cutting my skin too deep on my pinky. I was so disappointed to have spent $40 on such a poorly done manicure. :( I still continue to give three stars for: -Hannah and her husband & their friendliness -Wide variety of colors to choose from -Usually can get a day of appointment But, I share this review to let you know, if you aren't going to Hannah for your nails, this may not be the place for you. I got my nails done here by Hannah and a pedicure by Mimi. Both have excellent attention to detail. I showed Hannah a picture of a nail design I wanted and she was actually pretty spot on. I opted for the jelly manicure which is an add on (and btw, there was no uncomfortable upsale - I simply asked what it was and then decided I wanted it) and after getting use to the feel of my feet soaking in warm jello, really enjoyed it. Also, they were VERY accommodating as far as scheduling. I called and was able to get an early morning appointment for the next day. Thank you Hannah and Mimi! I have been going to K & T nails for a few years now for pedicures because they are affordable and do a good job with nail shaping. However, the pedicure I just received was actually very disappointing. I usually don't care who does my service so any nail tech is usually fine with me. This time I had an older lady as my nail tech and there was a HUGE struggle with communication and message processing. I had to ask her to cut the nails shorter multiple times, the lengths were uneven, the shaping was non-existent where she cut my nails and didn't follow up with filing/shaping. Hannah (the owner) noticed the communication barrier and came over and examined my nails. She noticed the unevenness in the lengths and helped correct it. After that, the nail tech asked me what color and I pointed to the color on the sample palette. She went to grab a polish and showed me the bottle and asked if this is the correct one? The sample doesn't tell me the brand or color so her showing me the bottle and asking me if this is the correct one wasn't very helpful. The color in the bottle didn't look like the color I chose so I asked if she can do a tester on a nail so I can confirm but she did not understand. Again, Hannah had to come over and grabbed a variety to show me the colors and we found one that was similar to the one on the sample. At this point, I have been sitting on the chair for an hour and the nail tech was struggling with putting on the base coat so Hannah took over and painted the color on for me. At the end of the service, the entire service costed me $40 for a regular pedicure. The sign said $35 so I asked about the extra $5. Hannah said it was for the gel removal of my original polish which they never charged me before. The gel polish was done by them a month ago...and I have been coming to this nail salon for years and was never charged for the gel removal when it was done by them...? I get it, you gotta keep up with inflation to survive in this economy but maybe you can disclose that you are also charging me an extra $5 for the gel removal rather than just saying "$40". I use to look forward to coming to get my pedicures done at K & T nails but with this price, lack of attention to details, and subpar job, I'll just drive the extra 10 mins and go to a nail salon off Solano Avenue instead. Thanks for the past few years of good service though! Makes me sad that one bad experience can really change your perception of a business. read more

2 stars overall Cleanliness 1 star - This place looked like it needed a deep cleaning. When the older gentleman took out the towel that I would be placing my hands on, there were scattered nail polish stains on both sides. The walls, floor, overall appearance looked very dated and unclean. The blue light machine also was sticky inside. A bit scary especially during a pandemic. I also noticed that he scratched his head at one point then used his own nails to wipe off the polish from under my fingernails. Pretty gross. Service 3 stars - I wanted a last minute gel manicure for a special event and was able to book an appointment within a few hours, which was surprising. The not so great part was that when the manicurist was snipping away at my cuticles, he cut me twice. I had to pull my hands away multiple times due to the sharp pains. I have had plenty of manicures and never felt like I was at a painful dental cleaning for my fingers. The hand massage lasted about 20 seconds on each hand. I usually get arm massages at other nail salons and they're usually relaxing, but, I guess for $30, don't expect much. Pandemic protocols 1 - NONE. Go at your own risk. No temp check. No air circulation. You'll be in close proximity to the people getting pedicures on the chairs behind you. Some tables had a plastic screen to shield both parties, mines did not. Finished product 3 - I'm happy with my color choice and shape of my natural nails. They did have a large selection of brands and colors to choose from. I'm on day 4 and although my cuticles look a little tattered from the brutal snipping experience, my nails are very shiny and look as good as day 1. We'll see how they look in a week! read more

I had such an amazing first time experience here . I called around 9:10 this morning asking to come in at 10 for acrylic overlay on my natural nails . They said 10:30am was good . Upon my arrival I was serviced immediately, asking for what it is that I wanted . My nails were very short and uneven from having full sets previously but Kelly did not disappoint . I asked for French tip nails . Based on all things considered and the severe carpel tunnel tension in my hands I think she did a great job . I thought it was a bit expensive ($53) when I hadn't gotten a full set . But I was happy to pay it and asked zero questions because manis gel have not worked for me , dip has not worked for me and I cannot have the length of a full set at work . I am very satisfied from the outcome of this appointment and will absolutely come to this place again ! I just moved into the area so I've been trying to find a new nail shop to go to. I found this place on Yelp one morning so I decided to give it a try. I loved how my nails came out! A couple weeks later I decided to go in again, I came into the shop, the lady that greeted me sounded like she didn't know what to say as she was looking at my face. My face got burnt so it's in the stage of healing. Nothing is wrong with it. It just has an uneven skin tone. They only had 2 customers. They had a lady that wasn't doing anything. But the one who greeted me told me it was APPOINTMENTS ONLY! I replied with "you guys don't do walk ins?" She said "no, they don't " it clearly says they do. The first time I came in I was a walk in! Response As I was writing this I was literally sitting outside for 30 minutes or so. I seen no one walk in..I legit asked her they do walks ins and she responded with a no. If you have good experiences with them..cool. But I was just writing a review for the place because that was MY EXPERIENCE! If they accepted walk ins. She could've easily told me I could come back later when they didn't have appointments and had the time. I went in early in the morning. They don't close until 7pm. I've been here a few times, they are very sweet. I just got a regular gel manicure. This time was a little bit messy, I have a bit of polish on the sides of my nail. Posting a screenshot of gel color #506 Summer Sun which I got, but my color seems really orange compared to the yellow I thought it was. Out of the bottle it looked very orange and not yellow at all, but I was *trusting the process* that maybe the UV light would alter the color, but a bit disappointed that the color came out this way. But again, not this shops fault. I just don't know why the color came out that way. read more

I have been coming here for years but started to notice a trend of being overcharged lately by Hannah. I have been letting it go because I love the way she does my nails, but being a loyal customer, now I feel disrespected. My pedicure today was $48. I said she could add a tip of $3, and she added $5 to my debit card. Blatant disrespect. Times are hard for everyone right now, and this was unacceptable. This is not the first time she has done this. She will quote a price, and when she's done, charge more. I just let it go, and because of this, I started using press on nails. But after cheating me on just a pedicure, I'm done. Your shady practices just lost a loyal customer. I shouldn't have stuck around this long. Hannah, you're wrong. In my seemingly never ending search for quality nails, I think K & T is the closest thing to perfection I've found in the east bay. Pros: -open late (says until 7p, but there definitely were still clients after me, well into the 7 o' clock hour) -took my appointment on the day of -very nice employees, although I think the owner was doing my nails -final product is instagram worthy -$30 for an acrylic gel fill - very decent Cons: -need better ventilation; chemical smell almost overwhelming -my shape is a bit questionable - I asked for coffin, see the pics for yourself -got some very minor micro cuts when she was using the drill near my cuticles.
