HIGHLY RECOMMENDED : This place is a dive, a hole in the wall, and that is not a bad thing. Very small place on VA Ave. They have very cheap meals for all meals. The wait can be a little long if they are busy. Their fries are greasy and AWESOME. Not chic at all, don't go if you're a snobby pompous windbag who sips coffee with a pinky up. Great food. Just a fun little bar and restaurant. Very family friendly and welcoming. Daily specials and just plain old good home cooking. Coconut cream pie is fantastic. Small order of French fries were plenty to share...fresh cut and crispy. Decor was a total hoot...keep us smiling and quoting most of our meal. Highly recommend. read more

My grandfather took me here for lunch the other day. As a bonafide city slicker, this kind of place is the reason I come back to Cumberland. Down home , real food, at low prices, and wonderfully sassy service. All dished out in a place so homey and authentic you want to come back the minute you walk in the door. I had a cheeseburger, some tasty fries, and the potato salad. The burger was awesome, juicy and 2.50! Can't wait til my next visit to Cumberland! read more

Quite Possibly the Best restaurant/bar in the world. I need to get the picture of this place. It is a Cumberland institution which if for whatever reason you end up in Cumberland you must go. I like to test people with this place. For when you look at it from the outside, someone, lets say someone who's never been there, usually asks "Why the hell did you bring me here?" Then you sit inside and if you are lucky enough to get Sue as you're waitress she is usually yelling at any number of beer hounds sitting at the bar hollering. I was raised almost in this bar and so are many other youths is what I would say to the new person. Anyway, I would tell the new person to check out the jokes on the walls and try to trick them into ITYIYBMAD. I am also partial to this bar because I help bringing international beers and signs back to help decorate. So if the new person tries to get menu i laugh because its a no-menu-kinda place but they can look it over. If you are thinking about going there let me tell you to either get the Chicken Finger Dinner or the Cheeseburger withe Fries. The fries and cheesburgers are truly unhealthy but just so good. Just the perfect combo of salt and grease. The cheesburgers melt on the perfectly toasted buns. Soo good. Anyway, so to sum up - the best dive bar with secretly delicious food. This is a small and extremely casual "blue jeans and t-shirt" dining experience. All food is above average, but the fries are phenomenal. Dine here for a bit of Cumberland nostalgia. Is small, meant for a party of 4 or less. Worth the visit. I drive 2 hrs, about twice monthly, just to eat there. Been eating there for over 40 years and it hasn't changed. A place to go for inexpensive, unpretentious food. No-frills but good, honest American food with portions generously sized. Menu lots of fried things--onion rings, fries, chicken, burgers. It's a small place, but the booths are situated so you're not in other diners' faces. Great fast service and they have beer. Not the healthiest food and limited selection but everything they have is good. They serve icy cold beer, always a plus. Looks a little shady from the outside but inside is like walking into a (small) working-class pub from the 1970s, friendly atmosphere. read more

Excellent food at a low price. Down-home cooking. It is almost like Cheers everyone that goes in seems to know someone there. There is a crew of regulars but they are friendly enough that a newcomer wouldn't feel uncomfortable. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. One of Cumberland's iconic must try eateries. Excellent greasy spoon style cooking with more than ample portions. Everyone has their favorites. Mine is double fish tail dinner and a bowl of chili. Two bigger than the plate pieces of fish(don't know what kind, don't care, just know they are good) resting on a bed of burn your mouth hot shoestring fries and two slices of bread. The chili is the first and best I've eaten to date. A great meal and a trip back to a slower time for less than ten bucks, it don't get better than this. read more

Took a chance as we were driving through the area. Love the ambiance as it is literally a hole in the wall and has several whimsical sayings hanging throughout. Yes, the food is very reasonable in price. But, as anything else in life, you get what you pay for. I chose to try the daily special - hot roast beef, mash potatoes, green beans. Meal was ok, but mashed potatoes were the instant variety. The French fries were very good. The waitress was, shall I say, unique. Funniest part for me is when she literally flipped the straws and lemon juice packs off her tray onto the table.. This was her way of distributing them to us. As a previous reviewer stated, this is in not a fine dining establishment. Heck it's not even a very good dining experience. But it IS very unique and why I would recommend to stop and try it out... You'll always remember this place.... Just not likely due to the high quality of food, though :) read more
