Problem solved! My friend got the Botana de camarón cosida. Both dishes were refreshing. Mine had a great citrus punch to it. Definitely lots of lime! You'd think it would be all that filling. Luckily, it's a quiet and calm space, so no need to worry about noise. The food was incredible. The salmon crudo was possibly the best crudo I have ever had in my entire life. So fresh and the flavors were balanced to perfection. The risotto changed my life... it was so delicious I couldn't even believe it. The only thing I would recommend skipping was the octopus tostada - not my favorite and a little fishy for my liking. Personal preference of course! The duck tasted great and was beautifully presented, but it wasn't my favorite. Again, I'm not a huge meat eater so take my advice on this one with a grain of salt. The halibut was excellently prepared but not particularly innovative in any way I could tell. Zucchini had goat cheese, which wasn't immediately clear from the description, so I didn't enjoy the rude surprise I got when I took my first bite, and didn't eat anymore, as I really despise the stuff. So that was a waste. Not a dig on the dish, just a personal thing I wish I had more notice of. There were other issues though. The wine list was exceptionally small, They were out of the bread, which is supposedly a must-try. And then we were going to get the steak but the folks next to us advised against it, showing their cut that had zero fat. They said it was leather. On that point, the tables are SUPER CLOSE. Like, a couple inches apart. You hear everything and almost can't avoid getting entwined into others' conversation. We liked the people we were next to, but be aware that it's an unintentionally awkward communal experience that's not well-suited to a date night. Spice level was medium and went with the 88 Special seasoning (a combination of cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper) - AMAZING flavor!! Perhaps my favorite aspect was that their seasonings were not overly salty - I feel that most other seafood boil restaurants just include way too much salt in their seasonings... but at Pier 88, you can really indulge without feeling like you're going to end up with high blood pressure! Extras included corn, sausage, and potatoes... and those were all delicious as well! I couldn't have been happier with this meal... so I will definitely return again soon! Food was ready in 15 minutes. We got the lobster roll which is Connecticut style-my preference-with lots of butter! They had a fish and chips special so we got that too. And a pb&j cookie for my birthday! My husband very recently broke his leg so picking up Chulas with some great lobster was a nice treat! It's not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. The fish variety can vary with seasons, but it is nice to get different choices throughout the year.
