Oxtail with Rice & Peas & Potato Salad
    Trey H.

Overall, the oxtails were good, they were tender, and had great flavor. The sides however were less than desirable. The rice and peas were slightly undercooked for my liking and were slightly bland, so was the potato salad although the potatoes were cooked perfectly! There was a bit of a wait for my order which was about 20 mins from the time I placed my order. The restaurant had a patio which I enjoyed but I do have to admit there was a bit of an odor in the establishment that was off putting. That being said I would return but strictly for the oxtails al a carte, the website also said there was mac and cheese which I was very excited to try but wasn't available when I arrived. I spent $36 on my meal and I do not believe that it was worth the cost based off my experience.

    Rasta pastas going crazy

Can't say enough about Rite Yah Suh. I've been coming to Phoenix all year and always look forward to stopping by this restaurant for some rasta pasta! I've actually followed the place a bit from the Highland hub, to the foodtruck, to this location in tempe, and the food never disappointed. I don't remember the gentleman's name who helped me this week but he was real good people. He helped us make sure we were getting the right food and even threw a little extra chicken in my shrimp pasta for me. Also had the early 2000s r&b tunes bumping in the place which kept the spirit alive. Lots of soca music as well. I can't say enough good things besides that maybe they need another location downtown so I can walk to it considering I stay down there frequently. Great food, good people and a nice vibe, home run everytime! Bless up!

Oxtail Meal- Rasta Pasta- Rice & Peas

Photo speaks for itself! Broke their foot off!! So good forgot to snap a pic before we tore it up! First time ordering from here and we were skeptical because there isn't much Jamaican restaurants here in valley but man we're so grateful we tried it! Ox tails were tender and juicy, and gave us quite a few that we couldn't finish it. Rasta pasta was very nicely seasoned, you can really taste the ginger! And the rice and peas were so good very flavorful, it had a nice coconut taste! Overall great experience with the food! The person behind the counter was also very friendly and made the pick up quick and easy. Order took roughly about 25mins. We will definitely be back and be regulars :) Edit: Forgot to mentioned that we also ordered a beef patty and it was also really good and well seasoned. We did notice the crust itself was a little tough but I'm sure if we ate it fresh out it would be as be soft as they should be. So just a heads up if you do order beef patties for pick up. Still gonna order them regardless cause they were damn good.

Oxtails, Steamed Cabbage, and Rasta Pasta

Food 10/10. I ordered oxtails, cabbage and Rasta pasta. The meat was extremely juicy and so flavorful. The cabbage and pasta had the perfect amount of spice. I wish I lived in Arizona so I could purchase more often. I ordered through DoorDash and my food was still hot by the time it arrived to our Airbnb.

The Best Jamaican food I have had in years. Oxtail with gravy , rice and peas with the plantains to top it off with a Ting drink. The experience was amazing. The dinner was very authentic and flavorfu. cabbage was absolutely delicious, plantains we're cook to perfection nice and crispy like I wanted. The service was superb and attentive, I felt like was in Jamaica with the best vibes. Chef's kiss , I will definitely be there again before I leave Tempe Arizona. What a time I had.

Oxtails, Rice and Peas, Rasta Pasta all yummy!
    Kel W.

I ordered from door dash twice and both times the food was hot, well portioned, authentic, and yummy! I have had their oxtail dinner and curry chicken! Both good but oxtail better! Tender and gravy perfect!

The rotating menu changes weekly or so, and everything we had was amazing! The risotto was full of flavor and the kale salad was probably the best salad I've had! Only downside is that…read morefor some reason Apple maps was not accurate to finding the location and parking was a challenge as it is right on Roosevelt Row. However as soon as I found it and immediately after entering Pretty Penny I was transformed to the cutest little restaurant. I was greeted immediately and had made a reservation so even though my friend hadn't arrived yet, they sat me down. They instantly offered water and menus (food and cocktail). I noticed that the menu seemed very small and the dishes were shareable -- I don't eat meat so I was hoping my friend wouldn't mind sticking with fish and seafood (which she didn't). As soon as I got to my table there was the cutest sign that said welcome to Sarah Sherman and guest -- it was such an adorable and personal touch, I loved that! As soon as my friend got there we immediately both ordered the cold brew old fashioned -- we thought about the espresso martini but this just sounded too good to pass up -- and we were not disappointed! This drink was so tasty and strong. We immediately ordered the bread (sourdough boule) to soak up some of the alcohol as well as some oysters and the salsa. The oysters were so well spiced and were absolutely delicious. But the bread, the bread, the bread -- the server mentioned that it took almost 9 months to develop the bread recipe and it served. It was the best bread and butter that I think I have ever had! The salsa was good but probably was my least favorite of everything and it was still super yummy. We then moved on to the octopus tostadas. Sometimes octopus is not my fav -- it can be too chewy but this was so amazing and incredibly flavorful. It was starting to be my favorite dish until we ordered the Hamachi -- OMG!! Talk about a mouth orgasm-- both my friend and I were yummming it up -- but seriously this bite was so complex with different flavors coming up with every chew -- it has coriander candied peanuts, fermented pineapple, avocado, pickled fresno, toasted coconut and aji amarillo yogurt -- The server mentioned that this was the chef's least favorite dish which I totally do not understand because this was off the charts in my book. We also tried the earl gray whiskey sour, which was light and delicious, and ended with the shrimp toast and the espresso martini. By the way the toast on the shrimp toast was like a little fried dough triangle -- sooooo gooood! The martini was good but the cold brew old fashioned really stole the spotlight for me. Other details I loved that just elevated the experience: Purse hook (very important to me), the little trays for your utensils, metal coasters, incredibly attentive servers, fantastic music, great ambiance and the cutest was the penny they put on top of your check. So cute -- was not expecting such an enjoyable all around experience!! Will be back 1000%!!!

This location is a much nicer facility and in a better area than the one in Tolleson. The menu is consistent too, which made it easy for us to order our favorites. I hope you get Gigi as your server as she is very pleasant, friendly and checks on you regularly. However, the two (2) greeters at the hostess stand are a different story. It is obvious neither of them like their jobs and just come in to punch a clock. It would be nice if they at least made eye contact with the customers before they have you follow them to the table they have picked out for you. Smile? . . . that's out of the question, too. We determined by the expressions on their faces their parents probably told them since they graduated from high school they aren't going to sit around the house doing nothing all day so this must the the place they applied to.

We are fans of the local competitor and wanted to see how this one compared. TLDR: the other one is better! We each ordered the Famous Low Country Boil - mine with lemon pepper sauce and my daughter with the 88 Special, a combo of all the sauces. She went with no spice and I went with mild. We also ordered a bowl of rice. We did enjoy what we had but it seemed heavier than what we are used to. We were not big fans of the sausage mixed in and our service was fine, but not amazing. We were also disappointed that there were not scissors offered to help get the meat out of the crab / lobster - we really had to work for it! On a positive note, we did make good use of the wet wipes that were given to us as well as our bibs and gloves. It is quite a messy meal and note that I learned the hard way: don't wear white if you're planning on ordering any kind of seafood boil! Pricing is similar to the competitor. Ambiance is chill but not as fun. I would not rush back, but I also would return with reasonable expectations.

TUNA MELT- it's refreshing to have a tuna sandwich that is not canned tuna. There is a chimichiri sauce that you can get to drizzle on it that really gives a depth of flavor. The bread was a nice sourdough that was not just a cheap white bread and did not get soggy. However, with my sandwich, the bread was burnt so that bitterness ruined the flavor of the delicate fish. My pictures shows a few burnt spots, but on the bottom side was way more burnt and it was like they put the most burnt side on the bottom to hide it and hope I didn't notice. I did not appreciate this. CLAM CHOWDER- creamy and more on the fluid consistency, being made with fresh clams makes the difference. Not the best chowder i've had, but was pretty decent. The fish variety can vary with seasons, but it is nice to get different choices throughout the year. There are limited offerings here compared to the bigger location across town, as far as menu and fish selection. But for a small store it is a good place to get some quality seafood to take home or sit and eat. Check out the great happy hour deals

The sandwich had a white fish breaded and fried. The patty was decent without being thick or oily. Good amount of tartar sauce spread on it as well. If the sandwich was any bigger then work afterwards wouldn't have been fun. Oh, also got a delicious dirty martini to pair with the food. Gin served down and it was made to perfection!
