This is the best K-pop shop at The Source. Firstly, the price is much better at K Place than the other K-pop shops at this mall on nearly all similar products. We're compared prices on a bunch of items from each of the K-pop shops at The Source and K Place is almost always is a few dollars cheaper than its competitors. Secondly, the album selection is better and you get a wide array of new releases as well as older albums from previous generations. Many of the new releases also come with preorder benefits (POBs) that is only offered at K Place. These attributes also applies to their online store as well which we also buy from when we are unable to go to the physical storefront. The store can get busy especially during weekends but the lines always go pretty fast. The customer service is nice too. A guy let me repick my POB if it ended up being the same member as another POB I picked. If you sign up for their free membership you get $5 off every $100 spent in-store and online as well so definitely sign up for that if you want additional savings. Another thing to look out for is discounts throughout the store. Some popular items that go on discount are usually older magazines and various merch that they're trying to get rid of. Once in awhile, they'll have a stack of freebies by the front entrance too (usually opened albums without photocards, posters, etc.). Once in awhile, they'll host a girl group/boy group photocard trading event too so keep up with their social media if you want to buy/sell/trade your photocard collection at one of these events. This is one of the best K-pop stores I've visited! The store has a huge selection of albums and the stock is really good. They carry albums from so many different groups, including newer releases and older ones that can sometimes be hard to find. it's honestly such a fun place to look around because there's always new releases and old releases! The customer service was also really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they made the experience even better. They had also given me extra photo-cards with each album i bought!Which i found nice :) Overall, I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for K-pop albums or lightsticks! For someone who has friends who are kpop fans, this is the perfect store to purchase kpop related gifts and even some gifts that are not kpop related but very cute. Located in the ground level of The Source, next to the escalators and Pelicana, this store is one of the stables of kpop. They always have plenty of stock for albums, cards and are pretty on time when it comes to importing from their wholesalers. They're also pretty quick when it comes to their online orders. I've been assisted many times online and they're pretty quick to assist. You can also call them via phone if you want a faster solution. There's also online pickup at the back of the store which is pretty ideal for when your ordering online. Although it's a bit messy, it currently gets the job done and staff is pretty accommodating about it. They're also quick which is a nice plus. Kpop stores can be very similar but K Place for me stands out because they import lots of merchandise that's not just albums and cards and the standard merch. They also import merch from certain MDs, events, concert MD, etc. This is great because you can always see them online to pre order and it's nice to see a trust worthy retailer put effort into having these types of merchandise being sold to customers outside of South Korea. Although they can get a bit pricey, it's most certainly worth the wait and price if it's an item that you can't find anywhere else aside in South Korea. There's tons of merchandise to browse through. I love the variety, however the customer service can be worked on. No one greets you. No one asks if you help finding anything. It's not very welcoming. I've asked for help on a couple of items, quick responses given. I've gone on weekdays and weekends, empty and packed days. My friends and I have been coming to this store for over 5 years now and have not had any problems except with this one employee. It's gotten to the point we try to avoid her and will wait for her to leave the register so we could have someone else help us. She has the worse attitude and is the least helpful compared to any employee there. She will not give you your pobs and when she does she gives you the members she wants to give you. My cousin had asked her if she could swap one card since she got four cards for the amount of merchandise she bought of that group and had a duplicate where she answered "no I know who I gave you". Another situation she didn't let us grab an album reason be is it wasn't " in the system yet" and we had to wait till she was ready to let us grab it even though it was already out on the table right at the entrance and the store had posted it on instagram. She's always comes up very intense and with the intention of blowing any question with have off with a nasty attitude. For the record I still recommend this store I still plan on going they have the best prices on merchandise and is not far from home but I suggest they took at who they're employing reason being people like her are killing the vibes that come with K-pop. One of the Kpop shops at the Source, currently the bigger one and has a lot of cute merchandise too. There's also the benefit of it being located near the empty seating area stairs and the "stage" opening area where lots of people film their dance videos in the space. Based on the flyers that are at the front of the store they do birthday events for K-pop idols here as well as other gatherings as well. They sell light sticks, merchandise, albums, shirts, etc. For cute items it ranges from Sanrio, San-X, the Kakao Talk characters, and more. There's plushies, stationery, accessories, and even cute accessories for your pets too. It is a bit pricier than what I'd pay (at least for the cute character merch perspective), so it's usually a place to peruse after a meal to walk off the food. I like this shop but if you raise the prices don't raise them so much if you're adding the tax... I mean come on the prices on some of the items are outrageous. 6$ for a paper gift bag I can get for 3$ or less at a dollar tree which was made in the same part of the world is kinda ridiculous especially if I'm getting a hit on the tax as well! This was my first time coming here & I got lost for like 15 minutes since I didn't know where the store was at first it's located in the source OC mall. I've been looking for a real & good authentic Sonny angel. I did my research on TikTok & come across how people did reviews and recommend coming here for Sonny angels. Today, I went here on my own while my boyfriend waited at the parking structure & I got the Sonny angel birthday gift bear series. I honestly love it so so so much. They come with 6 different bears blue, green, purple, yellow, pink, and orange along with two secret. I love Sonny angels because it's like a surprise once you get to their packaging film & it's super cute. I got the heart hug bear and loved it so much! They only have the animal series volume 1 and 2, birthday gift bear series, vegetable, and their kiss kiss series keychain. I wish they had more options like the hippers, dessert, or marines series. Their prices I saw today was the birthday gift bear series, animal series volume 1 and 2, and vegetable series are $15.99 & kiss kiss series keychain are $24.99. They also charge tax as well. This store has many adorable, stationery items, stickers, socks, bags, plushies, and a huge assortment of pens, and many more items, all from Korea. They also carry a number of K-pop vinyl, CDs, DVDs and books. I was familiar with a few of the bands, but they definitely have more than just those that have become popular in the US. They do have some K-beauty items, but mostly those from the La Crème x Hello Kitty line and some Disney themed beauty products. There is another huge K-beauty store or two in the same mall, which is called The Source OC. Overall, the product selection is pretty good, something for everyone. I did like their extensive socks section as well as the merch from different K-pop bands, and you will definitely see a lot of BTS and Blackpink merch. The line can get very long but moves fast. They also do a separate register for mobile or card only payments, which is very helpful. They have a rewards program, so that is fun to sign up for and it's free. Since the music products are imported from Korea, they are priced a little bit higher, but that is to be expected. Some of the other imported home products are also a little bit pricey like their desk and portable fans, but not so much so that you wouldn't consider them compared to what you would find on Amazon anyway. They also do have a limited number of Smiski and Sonny Angels (no Hippers though). For these you do have to ask for them as they are behind the counter. The only drawback is that they are doing restock and had boxes everywhere at the same time there are a bunch of customers in the store, which makes moving around and seeing all the merch a little bit complicated. Given that there are so many people in the storeit also makes it seem more packed. Might not be as tempted to buy because it seems like the lines are longer when they really are not. read more

Ive been to Kplace plenty of times and have ordered online and in store. Their prices seem to be comparable to other kpop stores that are located in KTOWN LA but being the only main kpop store in the OC area they have definitely made a name for themselves for around the area. Lately Ive stopped ordering because they did increase their prices and I remember I really liked this store because they had some of the most affordable prices compared to other stores. But now it seems like all the kpop stores all charge the same prices now (with or without pobs etc). Orders don't come with freebies other than a kplace sticker. The best pro to shopping at Kplace is their rewards system and if you're consistent enough, the rewards are beneficial to loyal customers! Inside is super cramped and normally packed on weekends so honestly the body smell + heat inside makes walking around inside a little icky and the AC doesn't seem to work well. Staff is a hit or miss, on social media they've obviously nice and friendly but irl sometimes it feels like they do not want to be there and Ive felt this way multiple times checking out and have seen staff complain about their shift. They have a selection of items from kpop, stationary, to kids toys and are kept up to date with most of the popular comebacks. They have sections for more popular groups but other groups are just crammed together on the shelves. Overall it is fun to walk around whenever visiting the source. read more

Super cute store with tons of goodies (notebooks, popsockets, keychains, room decor, etc!) and an amazing stock of albums. Not just the best sellers but also well-labeled magazines and older photo books as well -- all at good prices that you would find comparable to online! It's a busy store, there was a small line to go in at 3pm on a Saturday. Bought an album and found a small dent later in my shopping day so I went back and they let me exchange pretty smoothly at the cashier. K Place is my go to for any k-pop related merchandise. They have a wide selection of items and sell certain merchandise that I would not expect other k-pop stores to sell! On top of that, they do not overprice their albums and other merchandise (unlike other stores). Not to mention that their reward system is amazing, and only encourages me to keep buying through K Place, despite the distance for me. The service here is always welcoming, friendly, and makes me always want to return. They consistently greet me when I walk in, and say goodbye when I leave! Although I do not know every staff's name, whenever they are working, Nathan, Julie, and Rachel are always super helpful whenever I go; (which is often) and give the best answers regarding any sort of issues with in-person and online purchases (alongside the other staff as well). One of the more affordable options if you like to buy k-pop albums in person! The store is operated by k-pop fans, so the album prices are typically on the more reasonable side. A k-pop album can be anywhere from $18 to $40. Their website isn't very up-to-date, but you can try dm'ing them on Instagram to see what they have in stock. From the exterior, the shop looks like a hobby store full of Korean-related gifts and stationery (Kakao, Pororo, BT21, etc.). However, if you walk to the back left corner, you'll find all the k-pop albums! They have a pretty decent selection, but primarily newer k-pop artists. Not too many kdrama OSTs or k-rnb albums. They accept Apple Pay and have a rewards system. Sometimes they will allow you to advertise k-pop events, cupsleeve events, or photocard trading inquiries at the cashier desk too! read more

This shop is located in the source, somewhat close to Ding Tea. Very happy with my purchases here. I would say the stickers can get a little expensive for what it is, however I can't stay away, because I can always count on them for their light sticks. I got my TxT and Twice lightsticks here! This is one of my go to kpop stores at the source! They always have cute stationary and are up to date with their albums and are quick to have the newest releases. Prices are alright it's what you would expect from a kpop store in California. They also have a rewards system which is very nice. The only consistent problem that I've had here is the customer service, specially one girl. She always seems to be rushing customers and is a bit rude. My friend and I recently went and wanted to take a look at what preorder cards they were selling and she kept asking "what group" even though we said we just wanted to browse before finally giving us the binders to look at with an attitude as if she was upset to show us which was very offputting. We got excited over a few cards they had and she seemed to be judging us as well which also made the experience less fun. Overall I would shop here again but something definitely has to be done about customer service. read more

I've been coming to K-Place for years, and the experience is usually pretty good. However, I recently had an experience with the staff that has put me off from coming to the store to shop in-person. Prices are average if not a bit cheaper than other K-pop stores around SoCal, so I've bought dozens of albums from here. Their selection for the groups I buy for is quite decent; they often have rare finds like Japanese albums and merchandise from Korean concerts, which other K-pop stores in the area do not. That said, like other reviewers have stated, the staff are seemingly not well-trained in customer service, as they are often distracted by conversations amongst themselves, acting surprised when customers come up to ask a question. This hasn't been much of an issue in the past, as I am usually willing to overlook it due to my general satisfaction with the price and variety of products, but as said prior, my view has recently been soured by an experience that frustrated me. When I bought an album, I asked if it came with a pre-order benefit photocard, to which a staff member responded that it was a different version of the album that came with the POB. (This staff member wasn't rude at all.) However, after checking the K-place website, I saw that the version I bought was actually the one that was supposed to come with a POB. So I went back into the store to ask another staff member about this discrepancy and if there was any way I could get the POB, and she (appearing frustrated that I had come up to ask a question) said that they were out of POBs for that album as they were first-come-first-serve, not offering any other explanation or assistance - not even a 'sorry we ran out' or anything. Thankfully, there was another staff member who helped out, offering a solution that I could return the album and order it online to get the POB. Kudos to him for his thoughtful assistance. Overall, while I have been going to K-place for years and my interactions with staff are normally okay, this specific incident has really shown me how lacking in customer service that some of the store's employees can be. One staff appeared to be misinformed/told me the wrong information, another was unpleasant and unhelpful, and yet another actually went the extra mile to answer my question even when he wasn't the one I originally asked. I will still order online as K-place offers the cheapest prices in the area, but I am really discouraged from coming to the store in-person from now on. This was basically the straw that broke the camel's back, to me, as a great majority of the staff I have seen and interacted with have consistently shown a disinterest in actually helping customers beyond simple transactions for almost the whole time I've been coming to K-place. read more

Covid 19 times This place reminds me of morning glory and it is nice to have a little korean stationary place available at the source. They have decent social distancing guidelines. Once the store reaches the max amount of customers, they place the little coat rack looking blocker outside so people know not to enter until someone else has left. The cashiers who work here spend more time talking about their personal lives than actually assisting customers. Items are a little more pricey but hey, that's what you get for a specialty store.
