I was in no pressure and ran some errands before. I came back an hour later and didn't realize they have a lot of parking in the back. So when returned I parked in the back and they have a back entrance. Once I was inside I checked in and the person in the front let me know I had to pay upfront. I changed my mind and wanted to do 45 min but the didn't have the time for it so I stayed with my 30 min session. The person in the front charged me and walked me to my room and I went to lay in the bed it was peaceful and quiet. Once my masseuse came in she saw me scratching my shoulders and said "oh, got it working on your shoulders". She went to work let me tell you! I felt I needed a bit more work on my legs but no complains my back, shoulders, arms and sides got the best massage ever. I only came here because it's close by and a friend recommended it. Typically I go to a place in Pasadena but found a new place I'll be coming to. I will also make sure to book an appointment before

I could hear people constantly coming in and out, employees talking loudly in the hallway, and even a man next to me moaning very loudly during their session. It made the whole experience uncomfortable and the opposite of what you expect when getting a massage. The massage itself also wasn't great. I repeatedly asked the therapist to use less pressure, but she continued pressing extremely hard despite my requests. At the end I left a $5 tip because I felt the service was mediocre. After I had already left and was sitting in my car, the front desk employee actually came outside and asked me for a bigger tip. That made the situation even more uncomfortable and felt very unprofessional. Overall the environment, the service, and the way the tip situation was handled left a bad impression. I won't be returning.

However, don't take everything at face value. During my first appointment, I waited and knocked but got no response. When I called, the therapist realized she had forgotten to schedule me. She felt bad and arrived 20 minutes later, offering a complimentary 30-minute massage. It was decent for 20 minutes, but the last 10 were spent trying to put on my faja, which was quite amusing. On the second day, I had to inform her about the pain I was experiencing since she was only focusing on my stomach. She suggested I keep my drains until Monday, but I left feeling pain and without any relief, missing that 'ahhh' feeling. My husband, hearing my discomfort, found Downey Skin & Body Therapy Clinic, which was open on the weekend. I made an appointment and was pleasantly surprised by what I encountered--WOW, it was incredibly relaxing, and the comprehensive session was out of this world. She also recommended removing my drains to prevent any complications. Additionally, I got my stage 2 faja, which I didn't even know I needed. I left feeling relieved--no more drains and a significant improvement. I've just scheduled my next appointment. Two thumbs up! I highly recommend this place; Lizet, you're amazing!

Pioneer Spa in Norwalk was honestly such a disappointment and I really wish someone had written an…read morehonest review before I went. I've been to a lot of Korean spas across LA and Orange County like Century, Wi, and Crystal, so I know what to expect. A friend recommended this one and I thought it'd be fun to try something new, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. The only reason I'm even giving it two stars is because of the owner, Mr. Kim. He greeted me at the front, was very polite, and took time to explain everything even though I already knew how these spas work. His friendliness stood out, but that was the only positive part of my visit. Parking was easy and free, which was nice, and I got a spot right in front. The spa is inside a small indoor plaza that feels more like an outdated mini mall than a wellness spot, and the entrance is confusing. Once inside, everything felt cramped and outdated. The cold plunge and jacuzzi were ridiculously small, maybe two and a half feet deep, and you could barely fit two people without bumping elbows. The jacuzzi wasn't hot enough, the cold plunge wasn't cold at all, and the overall atmosphere didn't feel clean or rejuvenating. The amenities were just way below what you'd expect from a Korean spa. The sauna said 173 degrees but I sat there for over twenty minutes and didn't sweat once. The steam room was the opposite, dangerously hot. The steam comes out directly from a vent near the bottom, and if you're sitting anywhere close to it, it literally burns your legs. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's unsafe. Even sitting higher up, I had to constantly scoot away because of how intense the bursts of steam were. That should absolutely be fixed because it's a serious safety hazard. On top of that, the jacuzzi and cold plunge both had warning signs taped on the railings that said things like "Be careful, this is not strong, do not shake." That alone made me feel uneasy. If the metal railings aren't sturdy enough to lean on, they shouldn't be in use. It's something so simple to fix, and I don't understand how they're operating without addressing it. The common area wasn't comfortable either. There were a few massage chairs that you had to pay extra for and no real seating to relax. The orange uniforms were funny and bright, but it made the place look more like a gym than a spa. There are themed rooms like an oxygen room, but they don't offer much. I was planning to eat at the restaurant since the website said it was open, but when I asked, the staff told me it had been closed for a while. Honestly, that was probably for the best because the space is so small that food smells would've been overwhelming. They do offer a few small items like shaving cream, a disposable razor, and a scrub, which is thoughtful, but it doesn't make up for the lack of quality. Between the outdated facilities, safety hazards, and disappointing amenities, this place just isn't worth it. For the same price, I'd rather go to Joy Spa or Century Spa in Koreatown where you actually get what you pay for. Those places have better amenities, cleaner spaces, and real attention to comfort and safety. Pioneer Spa feels neglected, cramped, and uncomfortable. I left more tense than when I arrived and definitely won't be going back.
