I actually went in for a Facial just because we were going to a wedding en Mazatlán, Sinaloa, The First Esthetician was Delilah.very professional and kind she explained to me to everything to me since it was my first time getting a Facial. She said that she recommended me to get some other type of Facial within 7 days or something like that , which I still have time before the wedding, so I came across the next Esthetician Evelyn, which was also very professional, kind and respectful friendly person . We started talking about other things that I could do to take care of my skin I highly recommend both of them I had a very great experience I started getting massage with Anna very professional. She works with me on getting to the right pressure Point. She really knows what she's doing. I went in due to having stress. She worked my knots. That I had in my back really worked into them. Anna is the best very professional, kind, and respectful as well. She could work with the pressure point. After a while, it was very hard to book a massage with Anna due to high demand she was busy so I had asked her. It's very hard to get a massage with you to book. A an appointment she had recommended me to. Neira So I booked an appointment with Neira Great customer service. Very professional polite and friendly Also the best massage Therapist works with the pressure Point. She could adjust easily and she's a very friendly person. Makes time go by so quick. She really worked out my back and legs I highly recommend this spot. If you're looking to get a great massage. Don't hesitate. I've have had entirely too many canceled appointments with various massage envy locations including this one. One on my birthday, my wife's birthday and on multiple anniversary's. Most recently, we were called on my birthday to say that a therapist could not make it in. No incentive provided to reschedule. Needless to say, it threw off my whole birthday, where I was scheduled to receive massages with my wife. I reached out to corporate to provide feedback but they never returned my phone call. I was referred by a friend and I was surprised by this nice environment, easy check-in , professional massage service that helped me release some pain in my feet. That was the area where I specified I needed work on. Gus welcomed me and walked me to the room where he would provide the massage service. Since it was my first time going to massage envy and getting a massage therapist completing his extern hours, it totally felt as if he has a good amount of experience. Massage Envy as a whole is a poorly ran franchise/company where staff often lack professionalism and skill, but the Downey location is definitely an over achiever at failure . This includes management who surprisingly display a condescending tone and lack ability to solve a problem. Their services, especially chemical peels are subpar. The entire process is only about 15 minutes at twice the cost of a facial. Despite explaining that a lower strength peel has never worked, they always insist on going against the customer's wishes. Appointments are difficult to book and there is little to no continuity. I've used the location multiple times, mostly due to proximity, but driving a few additional miles is beyond worth the effort. DO NOT get trapped into their contract. They will find every excuse to prevent you from cancelling and make it nearly impossible to do so. Contract or not, It's definitely expensive for what you get. They are an absolute nightmare. You have been warned. read more

My experience: On Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 1pm I arrived for my scheduled appointment with Vanessa at Massage Envy, Downey, CA. Upon arrival, I completed an initial intake form and indicated where I would like to massage to focus. Once escorted to the massage room, I explained to Vanessa that I had a sensitive back area and that I did not like a certain style of massage. She responded back that she had pain in her fingers and that this would not be possible either way. I thought it would was strange for a massage therapist to disclose this information to a client. About 10 minutes into the massage, Vanessa began using a technique I've never experienced before on my neck. It was uncomfortable and unpleasant. I asked her to avoid the area altogether, as it was clear she did not possess the experience to adapt. I noticed that Vanessa did not speak during the session to check in with massage pressure or technique. In fact, I found myself unable to relax and forced to manage her attempts at a massage. At one point, Vanessa began stretching my leg, while I was lying face down. She pulled my leg from the angle and was suspending it in the air, swinging it back and forth. I was told by another ME employee that this is not policy and that all stretch massages are to be requested in advance, and the client should be fully clothed. From what I've been told, this is misconduct on the part of the masseuse. About 25 minutes into the massage, I gave up trying to communicate, and just waited for the experience to be over. I figured I would speak with management and that a refund request would be honored. As I was collecting my items, I noticed that Vanessa had a digital map of the areas she was supposed to focus on for the massage, which she did not adhere to in any way. Now, I am not the original account holder. My 75 year old mother is. She initially called and spoke with Tracey, the manager, to explain the situation and request a refund. However, Tracey insisted that this was not possible and further coerced my mother into accepting a comped service. She then requested that I call in so that she could document the experience. When I called, Tracey insisted that Vanessa had 10 years of experience and was one of the most requested masseuses. Which was NOT evident by my experience with her. I further requested that my mother be refunded. However, Tracey insisted that my mother requested a comped service, not financial compensation. I stated that this was not the case. She agreed to provide a full refund if my 75 year old mother called back and requested it. Ten minutes after our conversation, my mother called to request the refund. In which case, Tracey, once again coerced my mother into accepting a massage credit by badgering her and claiming that my mother had agreed to a comped service because this is what she initially requested, which is outright false, and bordering financial elder abuse. My mother has also requested to cancel her membership. Per the "California's new "click-to-cancel" law, an amendment to its Automatic Renewal Law (ARL), which took effect on July 1, 2025, requiring businesses to provide an easy, equally accessible method to cancel subscriptions as the one used to sign up." However, ME is requesting that my mother drive to their establishment and complete a form, further extending her membership beyond the date she has requested. Again, these practices are taking advantage of elderly people financially. I am appalled that Massage Envy would handle a client complaint and refund request with such manipulative efforts, especially to an elderly woman who was an otherwise satisfied monthly member. Because Tracey has clearly exhibited poor management abilities, I am escalating this case to any leadership or board member that may be able to assist in this matter. My mother does not deserve this treatment, nor do I. read more

I was so happy to arrive here after having a tire issue on my car. I was all flustered and tense to get 60 of a 90 minute massage appointment with Laly. I did call ahead to tell them I was still coming but would be late. When I arrived my therapist was waiting for me and check-in was fast. I really like the refreshed look inside. I love the old signature purple palette but the new colors are more calming. It's amazing what paint and fresh chairs can do for a space. Check-out was also smooth. read more

Massage envy is a huge scam. If you accumulate too many massages you can put your account on hold but you're still charged a holding fee. You can only give one massage away per month and one massage to the same person every six months. You're also charged a transfer fee if you gift a massage you've already paid for. You're also charged an additional price if you go to a different location that charges more per month but not reimbursed if you go to a location that charges less per month. In my opinion these are unethical business practices. read more

The cancellation process for a membership is Horrible. I tried to cancel 5 days prior to my billing date of the 14th and they did not allow me to, charged me a whole month due to their delay in processing my cancellation request. If I am canceling it is because I'm not happy with the membership and they basically force more months. I have had massages for many years and never had an experience like this. I do not have any type of allergies to any oils of any kind. I recently had a massage at this location and it was horrible Toward then of my massage my legs started.to get itchy. I though it was just a regular itch. As I walked out of the room the itchiness got worse. Once I walked out I was covered in what looked like bug bites. I informed the girl at the front desk and all she said was no one has walked out with that before. Basically disregarding all the marks on my leg. All the girl told me was I can send in pictures and I would be contacted by a manager. Many days have passed and I have not had a call. I got a massage here and it was very good. It was much more than the Asian massage place I tend to frequent because of my budget. It's nice to treat yourself every now and then. They highly recommend to join the membership club but I cannot afford it. I also got a facial when they left a message that it was half off. I really enjoyed that and my face is still glowing after a week. When I can gather up a little bit of money I will return but on my budget it's hard to do it even with their $85 monthly membership. Message Envy Downey has a similar, if not the same, setup as Lakewood and Long Beach. The greeting staff at all three locations are friendly and respectful. The difference is the skill level and attentiveness of the massage therapist. I say this because your experience will likely be determined by the level of the massage therapist. I have been a member for years, and unfortunately, my experience has been consistently negative due to the unprofessional behavior of the manager, Christine C. and her sister, Sarah. Over the years, I've encountered numerous instances of rudeness, lack of courtesy, and overall poor customer service. Christine, in particular, has been abrasive and dismissive whenever I raised concerns or asked for assistance. Her behavior was not only unhelpful but also left me feeling disrespected. Unfortunately, it seems like this attitude runs in the family, as her sister Sarah has been equally rude, adding to the overall frustration of my experience. As a loyal member, I expected professionalism and respect, but these two have made my time here unpleasant and stressful. It's disheartening to see such a lack of regard for customer satisfaction, especially from those in leadership roles. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this establishment, as it's clear that the management needs serious improvement in both customer service and professionalism. Having a high turnover rate over in staff should also be a red flag. The staff talk while in services and one of the reasons for high turnover over is due to these two making the work environment hostile. I would recommend taking the drive and going to a different location where the front desk want to be there to help and make your experience worth the money. I'm not one to judge people on their looks but very unprofessional for the person that's assisting with intake to have super long blinged out nails, dark, heavy looking lashes, & what seem to be gang related tattoos all over her. Can I give negative stars? This location is ridiculous. I booked a prenatal massage like a month ago by phone. I guess they did not book my appointment correctly. When the therapist came to get me, she immediately noticed the error and took me back to the front desk. I was then informed that I need a doctor's to get a massage. What a fine time to tell me that! I can't come back here. The service is awful. This is the second time I've driven to this location only to be turned away. I wanted to share my experience at the Envy Massage. Schedule an appointment to have a facial. Customer service was lousy. My facial was not when I expected. I got worked more on my neck and my shoulders. I was told by the manager because I was running late. They were not able to exfoliate or extract they never mention anything at the beginning but at the end of my session manager asked me how much are you gonna tip? I believe they're worried too much about tip instead of worrying about customer service. My daughter had an appointment for the following day I had to cancel. Very unsatisfied !!! read more

The therapists are great. Lolly(or Laly), Seniah, and Delilah, are fantastic. The issue is the poor customer service from the front desk. They make errors when booking appointments and are completely unapologetic about it. You would think that would improve considering how many bad reviews there are specifically about errors when booking appointments. You can't trust that you will get what you asked for when you show up after calling and booking an appointment. If you must get service from this location, my advice is to get written confirmation after booking. I wouldn't have booked a couples massage on two different time slots.
