I ordered the gochujang chicken, half bone in, half boneless, and let me tell you something, this is some of the BEST fried chicken I have had IN MY LIFE. And this coming from someone who ate chicken and waffles at Lois the Pie Queen and Home of Chicken and waffles in Oakland (check those places out too). Back to K Soul Chicken though, I was one of the only people in there, there wasn't really anything that looked special about the place. Makes sense though because they have the sense not to waste the money on some foolish decorations and whatnot, and to instead spend it all on THAT CHICKEN. Don't judge a book by its cover. This chicken was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I love it so much. It was pricey (20 dollars for a serving) but it'll leave you super full, and I would have paid twice that for this. Perfect texture, perfect taste. It wasn't the spiciest gochujang so if you're korean maybe you'll feel different but I'm white with a medium spice tolerance so cut me some slack. To me, the flavors were perfect. I almost threw up because I didn't leave enough room for the meal beforehand. I walked out of there barely able to stand. With any other food I wouldn't have been able to finish it but this was perfect. To all the reviewers saying "I ordered the galbi and i thought the flavors were okay" OF COURSE because you didn't order the gochujang. I'm telling you, I know fried chicken, it's probably my favorite food. I've tried the worst of the worst (KFC and Safeway) to the best - which is K SOUL CHICKEN. I don't speak with authority on a lot of things but I'll rant about this because I loved the chicken that much. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Stopped by K Soul Kitchen and got the sausage mozzarella Korean corn dog with potato and ketchup on the side. The spot itself is pretty small, more of a quick grab-and-go kind of place rather than somewhere you sit and stay for long, but it works for what it is. Service was quick and the food came out fast, which I really appreciated. The corn dog itself was good, crispy outside, nice savory sausage, and the potato coating added a fun texture. The only thing I'd say is I wish there was more cheese pull/more cheese inside, because that would've taken it to the next level. It wasn't bad enough to deter us but enough to color the experience negatively -- I imagine I'd probably rate this high if I had it for takeout (and, it seems like most people coming in were there for pickup). Still, sometimes these rough-around-the-edges mom and pop shops can be surprisingly good, and that was true for the Korean fried chicken. Spicy, crispy yet super saucy, and mixed in were these lovely, chewy little rice cake tteokbokkis. I'd pass on the bibimbap, as the bulgogi was chewier than expected and the oil was a little heavy handed. I like how they have Korean corndogs and I don't have to drive all the way to the Outer Sunset for Stix to get one. I've also gotten the sizzling bibimbap which I liked, and it was filling. This place has great korean fried chicken! We usually get takeout (call to order and pick up), and the workers are always so friendly. The chicken pieces are nice and big, very juicy! My favorite flavors have been the galbi chicken and the garlic & jalapeño chicken wings. I'm a person that doesn't like an overload of sauce, so I felt that the amount of sauce was perfect. We got the fries with our last order and they were also great! Very lightly seasoned, could argue that they need more salt, but I found that it worked perfectly with the chicken. The NFL season and College Football regular season is coming around soon and nothing pairs better than some cold alcohol and some chicken wings . A good wing doesn't always have to be drowned in sauce. Holy moly this stuff is GOOD. We don't go to Korean restaurants much since the vegetarian options are usually pretty slim but I've been dying to try cheese corn for awhile so we finally got around to stopping in. We ordered the cheese corn, a corn dog, and the galbi chicken. The prices range quite a bit with the corn dogs and corn cheese being on the low end but the chicken on the high end. The flipside is that there was *so much* chicken, my partner brought leftovers home (he rarely does that!) so overall, you're getting a lot of food for a really great price! Service was quick and came out to our table. I was blown away by how delicious everything was and my partner was so happy to get the option for boneless chicken. We saw a few things on the menu that we'd both love to get, so I think we'll be coming back since it's in the neighbourhood. I'm very particular about KFC having spent the last few years living in LA and Orange County, home to copious dedicated KFC restaurants. K Soul's chicken tastes the most similar to my favourite spots in SoCal. It has the perfect texture and crunch, the meat is neither dry nor greasy, and the umami flavor is on point. One of the best parts of living in the city is having so many food options just steps away from home. My son ordered the half order of Galbi Chicken, boneless, and found it a bit too salty for his taste. I ordered the bibimbap, which was decent but not as bold in flavor as I usually prefer. Fortunately, the two dishes paired well together, so we ended up sharing and balancing things out. Individually, I'd rate each dish about 3.5 out of 5. Service here is minimal, with more of a cafeteria style setup. You order at the counter, they bring the food to your table, and afterward you can either bus your own tray or leave it for the staff. Either way, the gentleman working the front makes sure to wipe down the tables promptly. We returned a few weeks later and tried the spicy wings and their fried chicken sandwich which were much better and much more flavorful. I'm not sure if the Galbi chicken is usually overly salty of if they had an off day, but the second visit left a better impression. I plan to give it another try and see how consistent things are. It would be hard to say that Korean fried chicken wasn't in the running. You can see everything I had here. Before I've also had one of their original fried chicken offerings with the jalapeño and garlic sauce. I tried a few new things this time. The chicken sandwich didn't stack up to the elites in the city. The fries were fries. The corn dog was great. You don't find these everywhere. These put regular corn dogs to shame. Highly recommend. I like the regular fried chicken the most but the price is a little high. They do know what they are doing in here though. It's a no frills place. They get you your stuff pretty quick and hot. It was very flavorful with lots of garlic on it. The yang nyum was good as well and also quite flavorful but didn't have a special taste to it, I felt like it was similar to a lot of other flavored korean fried chicken that has go chu jang as a base in the sauce. The ddeokbokki was quite delicious though! It got more spicy as we ate and came with other things like dumplings which was nice. When the shot glasses were brought over, we also asked for beer cups and the waiter was nice he explained the lines on the cup to help mix the beer and soju.
