Portions 5/5 Bang for buck 5/5 Chicken wings 5/5 Great small spot in the Tenderloin! Came in on a Sunday night, it wasn't crowded but they had a steady stream of customers with quick table turnovers (no wait to get a table), My friend and I were gonna split 18 pieces and the guy at the counter was like don't do that that's way too much. I was appalled that he thought I couldn't eat so much but he was 100% correct, and I'm glad he saved us. We did the 12 piece combo and it was still too much. The wings are LARGE!!! Not Wingstop wing size, HUGE LIKE, RIB SIZE. Delicious. I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the SOY GARLIC wings the most. The HOT & SWEET was good too and pretty mildly hot (which is what I wanted). The coleslaw was basic coleslaw, not much to go wrong there. Will definitely be back!

Ok forgot to hit post for this review. Better late than never. I went here about 2 years ago and I was impressed with this tiny restaurant that was nestled in scary tenderloin area. It's a nice find. I went daytime. I was only customer eating in when I arrived for lunch. There was one person working. I used the kiosk machine to order and the person went to make the order. I tried the free refill of barley water and I was addicted to it. I really liked the flavor. I could drink this all day! Yummy. I wasn't in any rush so, I didn't mind the wait. Anyway the cook delivered my food to the table. And it looks nice! Everything was flavorable. The Kim Chee balls were fun to eat as it was deep fried sour cream, kimchi aioli, Parmesan cheese and parsley flakes. The chicken tenders also had great flavor. I am glad I ordered a starch side to balance all the fried oil out. Good place, I don't mind coming back and try the bone in the chicken or a sandwich. Yummy in my tummy.

Was trying for some late night Mensho Ramen, but the line was insane, so this place was a good backup. I love the fast casual vibe where you order on a tablet without having to go though a waiter. The 18-piece Fried Chicken + 2 sides easily fed 3 adult men for a late night snack. Disco Tteok-Bokki: Was a bit dryer than other tteokbokki dishes I've had. A nice kebab skewer of alternating rice cakes and fish cakes. Mayo seemed to dominate the flavor profile, even there there was some other sauce. Soy Garlic Fried Chicken: Probably my favorite of the flavors I tried. This managed to stay the crunchiest while still have a unique flavor. For this one, it feels like the sauce flavored the meat underneath too, not just the skin. Hot & Sweet Fried Chicken: More sweet than hot. A tad soggy texture. Kinda remind me of sweet and sour sauce. Fiery Fried Chicken: I really liked the hot kick and the fact that no one else at the table dared indulge. But the texture was really soggy. Came out the same time as the crispy soy garlic, so I can only imagine they went a bit wild with the sauce. There must be a way to use less liquid but keep the same heat. Pickled Korean Radish: A classic pairing to Korean Fried Chicken. A bit pungent by itself, but a great palate cleaner between fried chicken pieces. Pickled Persian Cucumber: The flavor of quick pickled cucumbers is always a winner to me. But I feel like they cut this too big. It was essentially two bites. Would have preferred if it were smaller to be eaten in one bite.

I only got this as takeout, but it was really good and makes me want to go in person. Despite the time for pickup and delivery, the chicken was still very crispy and crunchy. I got the plain with dipping sauce, and the chicken itself was very tasty. This is weird to say, but it reminded me in the best nostalgic way of the fried chicken you could get in TV dinners in my youth. I was bonkers for that chicken, and really enjoyed this heightened version of it. I also got the Brussel sprouts, which were quite good and the portion size was generous.

One of the best late night foods you can get in the city! Not the typical fried chicken sandwich you'll get. It has the Korean veggie ingredients beautifully mixed up in this crispy Korean fried chicken sandwich. Usually I dont have much expectations for the late night foods but the quality was actually really good as well. The kimchi fried rice balls were delicious and the spice definitely added some kick to the meal. I would certainly order again whenever I crave late night munchies.

Disco Theok-bokki Skewer (Front) and 6 pcs Korean Fried Chicken (Hot and Sweet)

Decided to give Kokio a shot after trying a bunch of the other Korean Fried Chicken shops around the area a try. From the outside, you wouldn't think it's that spacious inside so its a pleasant surprise. My friend and I ordered the disco tteokbokki skewers (comes with 2) and the 6 pc fried chicken with the hot and sweet flavor. We also got the kimchi aioli side dip. Food took about 15ish minutes to be ready. They play kpop inside (expected) and there are a bunch of TVs on at the same time showing different things. Korean fries chicken had great flavor but was not crispy at all. Bit disappointing there wasn't any crunch. Would definitely recommend getting the kimchi aioli, it was a solid 10/10. The Tteokbokki skewers were alright, good amount of sauce coating. Overall would come back!

I'm on a mission to find the best Korean fried chicken in San Francisco to take to an upcoming Friendsgiving, and this place popped up as one of the best options in the City. I scheduled a delivery order for 6 pieces of boneless soy garlic chicken, and I gotta say that while it took a while for the food to arrive just after the weekday rush, it maintained it's form and flavour pretty well. Having lived in LA and OC for a few years and consumed some of the best KFC outside of Korea, my standards are quite high. Kokio's chicken tastes more Korean-Californian fusion than authentic Korean, but that's not a bad thing in my opinion. It seems way less greasy than traditional Korean fried chicken with significantly more meat and less fat/sinew than I typically have gotten at other places. As a result, the meat is somewhat drier, which I actually prefer, as I'm not a fan of heavy grease and visible fat. The chicken also doesn't taste nearly as salty as other places for the win. This isn't the best KFC I've had, but it by far feels like the "healthiest" compared to others and is decently good value since it's all meat with nothing going to waste. Regardless if this chicken makes it onto the Friendsgiving table, I would personally order from here again when I want some tasty KFC that doesn't leave me feeling heavy afterwards.

This was a themed adventure that will require further research in the future. The theme here was rice but non traditional. I got kimchi rice balls and beef risotto. Meanwhile I think this place has great fried chicken and some other goodies. I went in real one dimensional. I'll be better next time. For what I did get though, you will obviously hear my unhinged opinion. The Kimchi balls when eaten fresh are outstanding. It's like the Korean version of an arancini. If you don't know what thats like it's kinda like a croquet consistency. If you don't know what that is, I can't help you. The texture on those balls are unmatched. Crunchy outside, soft inside, and some nice razzle dazzle on top. The beef risotto was very tasty but the limited quality of beef they give you should be an absolute crime. You hear that Kokio Republic? You can't make quality tasty beef and then skimp on the portions. That's a foodie no no. Overall a real quality place that will require me to go back and try the fried chicken and the other goodies. (4.2 Stars)

I ordered a Fried Chicken Taco, a Bulgogi Beef Taco, and a Spicy Pork Taco through Uber Eats. The tacos arrived in a nicely presented box. The Bulgogi Beef Taco and Spicy Pork Taco were my favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed them and will definitely order more food from this place.

Welcome to the Tenderloin! The moment I entered this establishment a hysterical woman was yelling complete nonsense to the nonplussed staff person behind the counter. It turned out she wasn't a dissatisfied customer but somebody who ambled right off the street. I managed to yell over her to get my order in, and then she started yelling at me. I would have none of this. I yelled nonsense right back at her and became relentless. I wouldn't stop, and she cowered away. By the time she left, my food arrived, the $19.95 Combo #1 - four pieces of Korean Fried Chicken and three Kimchi Balls (photo: https://yelp.to/bjOIeB5rwn). I went for the boneless chicken slathered in hot & sweet sauce. I was surprised how hefty the pieces were, but they were pretty good. The Kimchi Balls were also in the 'pretty good' category as the rice was mixed with sour cream, kimchi aioli, and parmesan cheese and scooped into fryer (photo: https://yelp.to/Y_RKxaaegk). Both the balls and the chicken were too much on the oily side for my taste, and I probably would've been fine with a half order since they were filling. The upside was that the hysterical woman didn't come back. FOOD - 3 stars...filling and oily, not my favorite fast food AMBIANCE - 3 stars...well, the hysterical woman wasn't helping with the vibe SERVICE - 3 stars...fairly MIA TOTAL - 3 stars...not in a hurry to return RELATED - Exploring the Tenderloin? 12 Piece Korean Fried Chicken Garlic Cheese FriesGarlic Kokio Kimchi Ball
    Terence T.

This is probably the best bang for your buck korean fried chicken around the area right now. The pieces are pretty hefty and you will absolutely be full up from 6 pieces here. As for sides, garlic cheese fries are kind of as expected, not much to say here it's hard to go wrong. The Kimchi balls I was pretty let down by, it feels very pasty, lack of a rice like texture and somehow not really any flavour despite the sauce and kimchi. Overall, still good price for the chicken and that's bumps it to 4 stars in my book

Late night Korean fried chicken cravings? You've come to the right place! They deliver on Doordash too, which is even better. I ordered the Boneless Soy Garlic Fried Chicken, which was okay. The 6-piece was quite expensive and honestly, the chicken was a little dry. I did enjoy the sauce though! Maybe I'll try the wings next time. For sides, I also tried the Disco Theok-bokki Skewers and their Plain Risotto. These are DEFINITELY unique options for a KFC spot. The skewers were a new take on the "sotteok sotteok", but instead of sausage, they use fishcake! Pretty tasty and VERY saucy. The risotto really surprised me! Though it wasn't super traditional, it sure was delicious.

Soy garlic chicken - boneless 6 pieces

Looks like a new KFC joint is in town! The KFC was delicious and chicken was juicy and felt like it wasn't super deep fried I.e. a relatively cleaner and healthier KFC. Because of this - this is our new go to KFC joint! If you're craving really dirty deep fried KFC, this is not the place for you. We had garlic soy and the plain chicken with some mustard dipping sauce on side. Both were excellent. We got boneless chicken and it looked like the tenderloin cuts, sizing was generous. We also had the miso collard greens which were a tad too sweet with the miso soup - but once I poured out the soup, it was better for me. We also had the corn - asked for it without cheese and sour cream - delicious with lots of butter and paprika. We ordered pick up and ate at home. They give you some plastic gloves, like any good KFC place! Ambiance seemed casual and relaxed.

Filipino-Japanese fusion has been a tried and true combination, including my boyfriend and I's relationship (ba dum tss). However, Ox and Tiger have MASTERED the fusion aspect. Ox and Tiger is an intimate dining experience, with 8 seats, and gorgeous plating, menu, and cute chopstick rests! Comes with 3 courses with an additional 4th add-on. They also have a drinking menu, and they noted that the menu changes every 2 months (every even month!) EJ is such a wonderful story teller, and Hitomi (who created the menu for the month of May) had a great twist on everyday classics in Japanese cuisine. As the dishes were prepared and presented, EJ would tell the backstory on the dish(es), a personal note about each, and Hitomi's take on it to sweeten the deal. As soon as the experience starts, EJ tells us that the doors will be locked to prevent any distractions from outside (aka if you're late, you're outta luck), but we were encouraged to go outside for air if necessary. (I tried taking these notes on the food while EJ was talking about each dish so bear with me). ESL lunch The backstory was that Hitomi loved caesar salad while going to school in America, so she created a "perfect bite" with a Japanese twist to it. The word "gomoku" literally translates to "5 ingredients," to which I was only able to remember 2 of 5 of the vegetables, which were snappeas and roasted beets, with quinoa and tinapa (smoked fish). The fish that was used wae a cured Spanish makerel. T.A.M.M.Y I wish I remembered the words for this, but this is actually Hitomi's English name when she moved to the states. The acronym aspect was for the class at the time to think of ways to learn to like their name (each letter was a positive attribute and I can't remember what EJ said). The backstory to this was that Hitomi, being born and raised in Japan, was actually the biggest fan of California roll - did not like traditional sushi (or raw fish for that matter). - T.A.M.M.Y. is Hitomi's take on that. This was monk fish, with the fish scraps dipped into dashi sauce and kyuri (Japanese cucumber). In other words, no part of the fish was wasted in the making of this dish (in true Japanese AND Filipino fashion). This also had pinipig (granola-like topping glazed in shoyu) [Shoyu = soy sauce] Omiotsuke Now this is where I was blown away. First of all, I did not know what the hell this word was in English, but I watched every part of this dish being prepared and was even more confused when it was presented as dessert. When EJ started explaining, it made all the sense in the world. There is a tofu skin roll, vanilla ice cream, a mushroom topping, cherry miso compote concoction (this is where I butchered the exact creation - this is where the flavor was distracting me from what it actually was). Did you notice the ingredients? What is one thing one will eat at any Japanese restaurant, almost as a courtesy/complimentary item? Omiotsuke is, as polite as one could possibly say, is miso soup. This is Hitomi's take on miso soup, the flavor was spot on. I never thought to pair dashi-like flavors with ice cream (there is already shoyu with vanilla ice cream, but this was a flavor sensation). EJ was so kind when my boyfriend and I admitted we came for an anniversary, and we even got to see his reaction when we said we were also Japanese/Filipino (I'm also an Ox, but no Tigers here). They took this lovely photo of us to commemorate the evening, which sits on our fridge to this day. Again, gochiso-salamat :) to EJ and staff! We hope to come back soon.

Situated in a small, 8 seat counter, dinner is intimate with dishes being prepared right in front of you. The menu features three courses, an appetizer, main, and a dessert - with the option for an additional add-on. Our meal featured a focus on fish, in particular mackerel and monkfish. Each of the dishes were deconstructions of familiar concepts such as Caesar salad and a California roll, but enhanced with new flavors. The mackerel was sublime, perfectly charred exterior with a still raw interior. The monkfish was tender, coated in a ginger, wasabi sauce next to crispy sweet rice and avocado. The dessert was by far the most unique, being a miso dashi, mushroom cherry coated coconut ice cream with a tupig-like mochi on the side. The savory, sweet, sour combination completely catches you off guard but becomes increasingly addictive the more you eat. So bold and absolutely memorable. Ox&Tiger takes familiar concepts, breaks them apart, then fuses them back together with a flair of Filipino and Japanese flavors. This results in dishes that are utterly unique and innovative. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.

I've dined here more than a handful of times and every visit was memorable. Sung and his team consistently delivered exceptional food, every dish was solid and clearly made with pride. You could taste the quality and it was consistent every single time. Beyond the food, what always stood out was the hospitality. Sung genuinely made an effort to connect with his guests, remembering faces, checking in at the table and ensuring everyone felt welcomed and valued. He made sure you had a good experience and you could tell he cared. One thing I've learned on my food journey is this: follow the chef. When you find someone who pours heart into their craft, you support them wherever they go next! Looking forward to whatever Sung does next. I already know it's for sure going to be just as good!

Even before this most recent visit, I'd enjoyed intimate dinners here for its creative, Korean-Thai-inspired menu that always packed an impressive punch of flavor but, dare I say, the brunch might be even better. The steak sandwich was absolutely phenomenal, with the steak seasoned and cooked to perfection and pairing beautifully with the charred onion aioli, plus a side of expertly crisped smashed potatoes that were so addicting. The steamed mussels were sumptuous and packed with umami, and I loved the two large bricks of toasted sourdough focaccia that were perfect for sopping up every last bit of the delicious dashi broth. But the pièce de résistance was the custard French toast, which I can only describe as the love child of bread pudding and tres leches cake as it was crispy on the outside but uber moist on the inside, custardy, and simply divine. Kothai will be deeply missed in the neighborhood, but I'm excited to see what's next for chef/owner Sung Park and will be first in line for whatever future project comes next.

Well, I decided to look for something different than my usual favorite food and I decided to go to try some Cambodian food and I picked this lovely little spot in Ocean Avenue, so far away from my house. It was my lucky day, the food was delicious, fresh and made from scratch with a glass of great white wine and , SO IMPORTANT to me a lovely service, starting with a warm welcome smile from the owner and then with the outstanding kind service at my table from the young gentleman named (I think) Ethan. Now this little gem became one of my destinations. Great job beautiful people at Megan's Table!

They have packed in as many tables as they could in here. Yet it didn't feel crowded or like we would bump someone if we breathed. The food. That's what it's all about right? This place delivers. Every thing was as good as the last. They have a pretty extensive menu I wanted to try it all. Sadly I had to settle for Hot and Sour Soup, Wonton soup, Pork Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, Chicken Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, (8Pcs) Pork Dumpling with Sesame Sauce and Red Chili Oil (6Pcs), Numb & spicy pork Bao, Green Onion Pancake, (Sweet) Red Bean Paste Pockets. We had it family style. The 3 of us shared it all. There was plenty to go around. None of us left hungry. I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe the numb and spicy which wasn't that spicy. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. It wasn't listed on the menu and we have never had seaweed in any other wonton soup so didn't know to ask if it could be left out. That was sad. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.

Menu is relatively the same as Dumpling Home featuring my faves like the numb and spicy XLB and the sheng jian bao. Both very delicious! The remainder of the dishes we got were also good. I will say the green beans left me wanting a bit more from it. But overall, my party had a nice, fulfilling meal. Dumpling Home will always be my favorite (still prefer it a TINY bit), but because there is less of a crowd, service was amazing! I definitely wouldn't mind coming back considering there the difference in wait time to Dumpling Home.
