    Beef Mandu Soup

As always tasty Korean food with great prices! This time I end up trying the beef mandu soup. It was delicious. Great place for lunch or dinner. Also to take a break and finish writing my reviews.

Finally! last time I saw one of these was in Seoul.

So I haven't been to Seoul since 2006 but I have very fond memories of eating at the small hole in the walls there. So imagine my excitement at finding this place . I ordered my favorite Ojinga Bokeum and it was perfect... Not only that, they have a kimchi area for while I'm waiting for the food! . There's the required 4 varieties... Always considered this a must.. For a place to be called a real Korean place. I was hoping for the free rice and soup but I guess I was pushing my luck. I miss Korea already. This place is inside Hmart... So you'll have to go all the way in to find it... It's next to the bakery. Not sure how the other items on the menu was but... My bokeum was on point. I didn't see a sign that says BYOB. Check the photos.

Portion was large and really filling. Rice was cold and dry. Meat was highly seasoned but not very tasty on its own. Most likely won't go again.

K Town is a unique place to eat because it's located in the back of an H-mart. This place is really convenient because I can pick up groceries while buying lunch! So my sister and I one day decided to grab lunch and grab some groceries here. I ordered the bulgogi with rice and kimbap togo. When arriving home I opened up my food and noticed my meal came with soup and kimchi which is a nice touch. The bulgogi was very flavorful which worked with the plain rice. The kimbap was also pretty good. It was nice to wash everything down with their soup to complete the meal. Overall, if you want decent Korean food and have to run some errands I suggest stopping by and trying this place out.

I love this place!!! When im on my way home after a late afternoon class at Mason I love stopping here for dinner. The young girl who is cashier some nights is so sweet! All the older ladies here are so hospitable and the food is always delicious.

The restaurant is located inside the Burke H-Mart. It has a food court layout with the Asian bakery next to it. I think their hours are 10:30 am - 7:30 pm so it doesn't follow the H-Mart hours. I've been here twice now (eat-in and take-out). The menu is pretty simple and standard Korean dishes. The portion size is good and price is fair to what you get. It's nice that it's super casual so that solo eaters can grab a bite without feeling awkward. A good place to grab lunch while shopping for grocery.

Korean restaurant inside of the HMart. Yulgaejung soup broth was ok but it came with almost no beef. Cold spicy noodle dish came with radish and a boiled egg. It was sweet and good. Jaeyuk was just ok. Nothing memorable. Overall cheap and good if you're in the neighborhood.

I've never heard of this spot before, and you typically will not find me in Springfield. However, a few of us made lunch plans this past Good Friday to take advantage of the $29.99 AYCE weekday lunch pricing. We got three rounds of beef brisket (chadol), one thin & thick pork belly (samgyupsal) each, and half an order of large intestine (daechang). The chadol was a little too fatty than I'd like, but it was high quality and comparable to non-AYCE options like Meokja Meokja. I didn't love the thin samgyupsal as much, but the thick version was so meaty and juicy. The intestines were a fatty treat, and I was good with just a couple bites. We had to ask for ssamjang and sesame oil for sauces, which they were generous with giving. Our server was pretty attentive, but we thought it was weird that he cooked the thin samgyupsal and the beef brisket at the same time. As for sides, we asked for lots of them (sadly our corn cheese never came). The fermented soybean stew was strong, but a bit too salty at the end. The egg bomb was fluffy and delicious. They also have ramen (aka shin ramen) which we enjoyed by adding several pieces of chadol and letting it soak in there to get that deep meaty flavor. I enjoyed the kimchi throughout the meal, which was the perfect "not quite fresh, but still crunchy" texture. Overall, we ate to our heart's content. I definitely would be back for more chadol, thick samgypsal, and a bit of daechang in the future. The $30 pricing is a steal for the amount of food we got, but I'd hesitate to pay for the $40 dinner price. I don't eat enough at AYCE spots to get my money's worth, so I would rather spend that $40 at a non-AYCE spot for higher quality cuts like galbi and rib tips.

Easily some of the best I've had in the area in a long time, and they set the bar high going into the meal. Once we got to the meat, though, it was a little underwhelming. The all you can eat selection was limited, and a lot of the flavors leaned sweet. We were hoping for more savory, classic Korean BBQ flavors. The sauces were fine, but nothing that really stood out. If we came back, we would definitely add on the ribeye or galbi instead of sticking strictly to the all you can eat option. Service was great and attentive, and the atmosphere is solid for the Springfield area. That said, our hood vent almost came off mid grill, which definitely took away from the experience. Overall, a strong start with great banchan and service, but the BBQ itself did not quite deliver.

Great service (oddly they're all REALLY attractive Asian guys... save for the front desk girl - and I'm a straight, married, asian male), prices are great for the quality of meat and service you get (they cook for you) They come with the little appetizer plates like most Korean restaurants do, and they all have their own little twist to them, not super vanilla but still keeping to their roots and simple flavors. The green onion one was particularly memorable Our side dishes were excellent. Cheesy corn and seafood pancake. Both come out in cast iron pan, so it's piping hot and super fresh. Corn is hella cheesy and paired great with the appetizers. The seafood pancake was DENSE - really packed with seafood and not so much filler We got their combo so it came with kimchi soup and egg soufflé. The soup was very simple, very spicy. The soufflé was a nice contrast - light, fluffy, honestly almost felt like a desert. We definitely done made a mistake because for two of us, by this time the meats were ready to be cooked, we were about 60% full - and there were 4 meats to cook through We got brisket, pork belly, bulgogi, and another beef I don't remember - ended up taking about 1/3 of it home and half the pancake Our server was attentive and busy managing other tables so it's great to see all these guys staying sharp Considering how much food we took home, the bill was quite reasonable. Eyes were definitely bigger than our stomach this time tldr; fantastic kbbq served by ridiculous hot Asian guys. You need a reservation to get a table here

I'm thinking that many people who come here know already what they want, because even before we cracked open our menus, the server was immediately at our table expecting us to place our order. When we told her we weren't ready yet, she left, but came back less than a minute later and then stood there waiting for us to place our order. So I ordered the Sullangtang, which is bone broth with brisket and noodles. JP ordered the Yukgaejang, a spicy red broth with veggies and flank steak. We also ordered the fried dumplings. I don't know if the fried dumplings were vegetable or pork, but they were very good, made even better with a delicious dipping sauce. As hoped, banchan was served with our meal, but was just cubes of daikon radish (kkakdugi) and kimchi. The kkakdugi and kimchi were fresh and tasty. Even if the Sullantang recipe is traditional, I was disappointed. The broth was thin and very bland. However, I was able to jazz it up and make it into a pretty good soup by adding spoonfuls of the Yukgaejang broth and the fried dumpling sauce, plus salt and pepper. The Yukgaejang, topped with crispy noodles, was the better of the two soups. It had a lively flavor and as billed on the menu, was indeed spicy. The menu is limited, almost exclusively vegetable and beef dishes, but there is a seafood pancake and whelk (mollusk) dish. No chicken or pork dishes. Overall, our experience was decent and we would certainly consider returning. Shin Chon has plenty of off-street parking.
