Came here on a Saturday around noon for lunch with a group of 8. We were seated in a table with two grills. Perfect for two groups of 4 per grill. It took a little bit of time to understand the menu, so I had to ask a wait staff. The basic AYCE option (Option A) is 29.99 for weekday lunch only and 39.99 for all other times. This isn't really specified on the laminated menu. For option A, you can choose two meats that you can have for all you can eat at a fixed price. Any other type of meat you order will cost $14.99 per serving (a la carte). If you are really ambitious, you can go for the Ultimate option, which is $84.99 per person. They have a price difference for adults vs kids up to 12. There is no Option B for AYCE which is confusing because there is A and B and Ultimate. You would think B would be something in between A and Ultimate. They also do a single dish option as well and serve pretty standard Korean foods. Getting to the BBQ portion, I tried their brisket, pork belly, marinated beef rib, and large intestine. I thought the thickness of the brisket was too thick and it took too long to grill. The marinated beef was not very tender and just overly sweet. The large intestine was chewy, fatty and very savory and would go well with soju. The side dishes are unlimited, and I thought that was nice. The egg bomb which is a standard for KBBQ nowadays was a bit dense than other places. I was not a fan of the oregano or parsley that they put on the top. The salad was quite uncomplimentary to the Korean BBQ. The dressing pretty much ruined the salad. It is like a sweet, western style dressing. I would have liked to have the spicy, sweet, tangy sauce on it or no dressing at all. Perhaps I should have asked for no dressing. At the end of the meal, they served a little yogurt drink to everyone. Final thoughts. While there are elements of a KBBQ restaurant at Makchang dodook, I think the workers were not too familiar of Korean style food. Many of the workers are just trained to do what they are told, but don't really understand the culture that well. No one really helped grill, there were some odd dressings and seasoning. Our server was helpful and was attentive to us.

I want to start by saying the service was absolutely amazing and that Chad E was a really great server and answered all my questions l, made sure our drinks were full and on top of making sure we had plenty of food. I would highly recommend him as your waiter. We got the Ultimate AYCE and from my understanding everything is fresh and the prime meats are cut to order. They gave us a very big ribeye steak, the beef ribs and galbi were great too. You could just tell the quality of the meat was better here. The marinade is a bit on the sweeter side

This is one of the best kbbq places in nova. They have a wide variety of meat on the menu and the quality has been pretty good both times I've been here. I would recommend the marinated galbi and the rib eye steak. Of course you also have to get their daechang (large intestine)! They also have free ramen to order at any time . The options include either AYCE or combo options (which give you recommended serving sizes). Definitely will be coming again.

I've been to a lot of Korean BBQ places and this is hands down my favorite all you can eat spot. The brisket, pork belly, and soups were all great! This place by far had the most options I've ever seen at an AYCE KBBQ (Even appetizers are fair game). Make sure you come hungry because you will want to try everything!

Their pickled onion and radish are so good! They go so well with the bbq meat, especially the fatty meats

We went there for lunch $29.99/person. The food was great. We ordered beef, pork and chicken and they were all delicious . If you like intestine, recommend pork intestine over beef intestine for lesser fat and same texture. It includes pickled onion and radish - perfect acid to cut into fatty meats whether you eat it with lettuce wrap or with rice. The bean sprout and cold noodle need more seasoning. And I wish there's more options for small appetizers dishes. In terms of drinks, it only included fountain drinks. Wish they had hot tea option for cold days! This place is great for friends and family gatherings. The staff that worked with us was likely new and under training, but the service overall is good.

    Ramen machine

Such a great K-BBQ experience! The meat quality was excellent. But the coolest part was their ramen machine , it cooks the ramen perfectly every single time. The noodles come out with the ideal texture and the broth is hot and flavorful, just like ramen from a korea. Great food, great service, and a really cool concept. I'll definitely be coming back!

Came here for dinner with my cousins. We opted for the AYCE option A, which was $39.99/person. We ordered several servings of brisket, thick pork belly, and garlic pork belly. All of the meats tasted fresh. For garlic lovers, definitely try the garlic pork belly. This was really tasty - thick cut pork belly with a garlic puree paste. I was really impressed with the banchan options here. We ordered everything just to try and it was unlimited. My favorite banchans were the spicy beansprouts, pickled radish, corn cheese, spicy rice cake, steamed egg, soybean soup and tofu soup. Super delicious and seasoned welly. All of it complimented the meats and made the meal taste even better. They also offer free ramen, which I did not know until after we finished our meal. The service was great. Our server was super nice and friendly to talk to. She's very attentive and always checked in to refill the banchans or order more meat. Overall, had a great experience and definitely will come back to try more items on the menu. Looking for a new KBBQ spot, come try this place out!

One of the best KBBQ spots I've ever been to! The 'All You Can Eat' option provides the best cuts of beef, delicious sides, and great pairings with Soju. I personally love the beef brisket and spicy chicken! Be sure to pair it with the lettuce leafs, rice, and spicy ramen noodles. The restaurant is sleek and very clean - love the traditional design. The staff is incredibly accommodating and kind making each experience at KBBQ worthwhile. Will be back Makchang Dodook with friends very often!

Enjoying our meal at makchang dodook. Everytime we come here our food and service is great. Ronald was our server and he was very attentive and made sure we were always being asked if we needed anything. Highly recommend!

Kimchi soup, Brisket, bulgogi, Ramen, Pork belly

Margad E provided a great customer service! He was very attentive! Highly recommend large intestine on crispy cook level with salt. Shrimp was very flavorful with lemon kick.

    Food gone! So good!

The place was very busy, which was good to see in these times. My daughters and I had the pull pork sandwiches, SG chicken salad, and some pork ribs. We had cornbread of course and sides were Mac & cheese, collard greens, pork & beans, and Cole slaw. We drinks and also had banana pudding to go. Everything was delicious the pulled pork was great and the girls added their favorite sauces. The ribs had the best smoke rings and were fall off the bone tender. They didn't need anything extra to help them. The chicken in the salad was moist and easy to cut. The salad was well balanced and delicious. The only thing I wish was on my salad was a boiled egg but that is personal preference. All the sides including the cornbread was flavorful and hit the spot with seasoning. Now it wasn't homemade but very good and worth the money for restaurant walk-in quality. The place even busy was also very clean and staff was working hard, very friendly and serviced us as soon as we walked in. The person running the from even asked for help at another register once three people were in line. Service being quality and as important as the quality of the food. A++ and 10 with two snaps in a circle. Go and enjoy.

I love me some BBQ & I love GAR group restaurants (Great American Restaurants for you non-locals…read morelol), but this one was a bit of a disappointment, unfortunately. DEETS: This is a counter-service restaurant where you place your order with a cashier, and someone brings your food to your table when it's ready. SERVICE: We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, and it was not very busy at all, with maybe three tables occupied. There were several staff members behind the counter, but no one was paying attention to anything other than themselves or their phones, and they all had their backs to the entrance, oblivious. We waited & waited for someone to turn around, notice us, greet us, and be served. As for seating, we had only the option to sit at a table because all the open booths were dirty. The restrooms were not much better. After our food came out, they must have finally seen the mess because a couple of the crew members, including the chef, started cleaning up the tables. Great to finally see the place get cleaned, but the dining room should never have been in the condition it was in to begin with, especially with it so empty and the staff just standing around, oblivious, as if they had nothing to do... *sigh* & insert a big eyeroll! FOOD: Not surprisingly, the food was average because "you get what you give" and they obvi didn't give a.... We got a pulled pork and a prime brisket with coleslaw, and they were both a bit on the dry side and lacking flavor; nothing at all like the amazing pulled pork at their sister restaurants. The table had a cute wooden box holding a selection of sauces, but sadly, they all tasted pretty much the same. Surprise! lol As always, peeps, support your local small biz, and yes, I would possibly give them a second chance because I do love GAR concepts, but if I do go back, it won't be back anytime soon, or I may not go back at all and stick with my faves of their concepts that I love and know they work, i.e., Patsy's, Silverado, & Sweetwater. 5/31/26

Easily the best Jamaican food I've had in VA so far. Oxtails were cooked and flavored just right -- I was missing my favorite coconut taste from the rice and peas but that's okay. Cabbage was great. I told my friend to try a beef patty in coco bread. It was within the last hour before they closed, so they were out of both of those things, so he just got a chicken patty. Just be upfront about it and clearly print the upcharges on the menu. That would avoid confusion for customers. This is the first time in my life I've spent around $75 on food and only eaten about a quarter of it, and that was simply because I was hungry. I packed up the rest only to throw it away later. The ribs were extremely tough, tough enough that I felt like I could break a tooth trying to eat them and I kept searching for seasoning that never seemed to be there. As for the burnt ends, I honestly don't even know where to begin. The young lady at the register was new. I asked whether the ribs and burnt ends were included in the family combo for four, and she told me yes while the owner/manager was standing near her. When I saw the total, I was confused, and the owner/manager then explained that those meats carry an additional charge and that the combo includes pork. The cashier immediately apologized and said, "I didn't know, but now I know moving forward." She was kind, professional, and handled the situation well. What disappointed me most was that the owner/manager had an opportunity to step in, acknowledge the confusion, and make the situation right, but that opportunity was missed. As for the sides: the cornbread was disappointing, the potato salad wasn't good, and the macaroni and cheese was decent but nothing memorable. Overall, between the lack of transparency, the poor quality of the food, and the way the situation was handled, I won't be returning like never. Seeing these reviews confuse me because I went straight to my car to write this review. I have been to at least 5 restaurants this week in this area that all earn 5 reviews for food and service so I was extremely disappointed.
